Diving deep in music is a never-ending story. You never know where it will take you. Or so was the case before the advent of social media and the following no-photos-on-the-dancefloor policy, designed to bring back the focus on the immediate escapism with your surroundings and favourite music.
Half-Slovak, half-Bulgarian Liubo Ursiny has long been a vocal and clearly passionate proponent of music as a vehicle not only to take you on a journey, as the popular cliché goes, but to make your feet dance to the rhythm in a perpetual state. The resident DJ and talent director for Yalta Club is an uncompromising man, that doesn’t stray away from the concept of less is more – play fewer venues, indulge the audience with adamant sound and music selection and concentrate on the energy.
Blame his background (guitar and piano lessons from an early age along with a father, who was an important figure in Slovak rock and jazz music) for an innate understanding of song composition and how to build a set. Liubo Ursiny has been cutting his teeth behind the decks for more than fifteen years and received praises and accolades from many contemporary names, as well as a close bond with none other than Argentinian progressive maestro Hernan Cattaneo.
From his marathon 8-hour sets at former monthly residencies BLAME and SUNDAY to playing and producing SOLAR events and running his current club night TAKEOVER with a string of well-known and classy foreign guest DJs, Liubo has a relentless drive to provide the best possible atmosphere to immerse you in music. You will have to make the monthly trip to Yalta to listen to his music or follow his regular podcast on all streaming services – choose wisely, as this is not your usual Friday night host, but a thorough DJ with immaculate skills behind the decks and a constant desire for a revolution of the mind, hips and soul.
Now that summer is gone and the dust has settled it’s time for musical update. To kick things off, we go with a recording from Solar Island: Sunset 2 Sunrise. The island has a magical meaning to me for obvious reasons and playing a sunset set from day to night was the perfect opportunity to go into more eclectic and elaborate blend of deep, melodic and progressive house.
Once @richiehawtin introduced @playdifferently MODEL1 mixer and its specific functionalities such as eq sculpting, 6-channels and advanced connectivity i always knew i’ve needed something like this to express myself on the next level. The amount of creativity flow that goes into a mixture of sounds with this piece of equipment simply makes the possibilities endless. Now, i come from house music background with big passion for all genres and i never understood how someone can go under one flag when electronic music is about the variety and of course, grooves. Playing before Rich creates a big space to be filled with music and freedom to do what i always love to do — build up things and go for a journey.
My relationship with @hernancattaneo transcends beyond all the club and festival gigs he’s had in Bulgaria. Somehow through the years we got closer & closer only driven through our passion for music. He took me under his wing and gave me massive amounts of wisdom in all different aspects of life. Kinda like a father figure but from the other side of the planet. That synergy transfers into our b2b sets in that special location that is St. Anastasia Island and every time it just makes these moments unique. There is no ego, no politics or whatever these days toxicity pollutes the scene, just a musical journey through the music we love. Happy to be able to share the recording with everyone for 3rd year in a row.Hopefully we can do it again!

Do you know why True Love Never Dies? It's because when you truly believe in something, it will never perish or disappear from your life. I spent my life driven by that credo with no intention of change. It has never left me without a doubt in just a few (but very special) things i believe in. Music has always been one of them. My partner in crime in life and the main way to express myself. As an introvert my social skills are never on high level, but music made it possible for me to connect. It really IS an universal language. I hope this musical trip down memory lane recorded 10 years ago on the same date today, will connect the same way as it did back then. A long musical journey trademark by the nights of 'Blame' at Yalta Club, which will always have a special place in my heart.

I was introduced to electronic music by Chris Liebing. Somewhere around early 2000 i was still into hip-hop but somehow i ended one night at an epic rave where i saw couple thousand people dancing together. The energy was outstanding. Electrifying! And everyone’s attention was focused at one guy with a cool grin on his face... It was all new and unknown to me. But it felt exciting like nothing else did back then. Now, 18 years later i got the chance to open the night for the same guy. This is the result.

Richie Hawtin told me about a year ago “You need 10 really GOOD gigs with that mixer to really get the feel of it”. Back then, i was still consumed by the look and unexplored areas of it. But last Friday night at home, i mean my second home, I think I did a really GOOD job :) It was all about driving grooves and steady beats, and of course - playing differently. Enjoy!

Playing a NYE midnight set alongside with opening for Marco Carola is both challenging and fun. You know you have the freedom to go everywhere and back, right in time to hand off things to the Italian don. I had the chance to sneak in a few classics and all time favourites as well as what recently has been rocking it for me. And they all blended way too well... you just knew the groove is there.
Happy new 2018! Hope this one is bigger, better, faster & stronger for all of you! Enjoy it!

Morning sets are cool. No matter if you're playing at the beach or in a dark intimate club. If your set starts 5am and the vibe is there, the flow and groove just takes you up until the last track is gone (or someone cuts the power 'accidentally'). You just know the night is amazing when it's gone in just a blink of an eye - like last Friday. Great sets before me as well - Diass & Hot Since 82. So, without further ado here's my 2.5hrs from Friday night (or should i say Saturday morning?!).
