Hey everyone, this is Chad Harms, the pastor of Creekside Bible Church. What you'll hear on this episode is not a sermon, but rather an announcement about a project I've been working on: A podcast called "Testimony." The first episode goes live on January 4th and I'd love it if you'd listen and subscribe. Here's the text I wrote for Testimony's trailer:

"I'm a huge fan of podcasts. For years I've enjoyed listening to shows in many genres, but my favorite all have one thing in common: They tell great stories. As a Christian I don't think there is any better story than when someone's life is changed by coming to faith in Jesus. For a long time I have dreamed of producing a podcast that told these stories in a compelling and interesting way. Thankfully, I am finally ready to embark on that endeavor.

One of the first podcasts I ever listened to is called "How I Built This." It is "a podcast about innovators, entrepreneurs, idealists, and the stories behind the movements they built." That podcast has inspired much of what I hope to do here. Instead of stories about the companies people I have built though, I am telling the stories of how God has built people's lives.

More specifically, Testimony is a podcast telling the stories of how and why people became Christians. It also offers glimpses into how people's decisions to follow Jesus has changed their lives. My hope in producing this is that it will compel some to give their lives to Jesus and many to share their own story with others.

With that in mind I hope that you will listen to the trailer and subscribe. The first episode launches on January 4th. In it you'll hear the story of how God used basketball and a funeral to convince Grayson Boucher (better known as "The Professor") that Jesus was real and how that conviction changed his life and career forever.

Is becoming a Christian worth it?

Christianity is a transaction. Jesus made this clear when he said about being his follower, "Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost..." The problem is that what this transaction is has become convoluted by false teaching and misunderstanding. This Easter sermon aims to teach people the cost and reward of becoming a Christian and to encourage people that following Jesus is worth it! Why? In a word, resurrection.

Palm Sunday is the day in which the church remembers Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to throngs of people and their shouts of acclamation. Less than a week after this event Jesus would be unjustly arrested, mocked, whipped, beaten, and crucified. Many of the same people who excitedly chanted Hosanna, Hosanna (meaning, salvation is here) as he entered into Jerusalem would chant Crucify him, crucify him just days later.

What changed? Actually, nothing. The people had a preconceived notion of who they wanted Jesus to be. When he didn’t fit this notion, they turned on him without hesitation.

This sermon shows that the way in which we view Jesus – even today – determines how we act towards him. It contrasts the crowd of people who wanted to squeeze Jesus into their box with a man named Zacchaeus who wanted to see who Jesus was. Once Zacchaeus discovered who Jesus was, who he really was, he was willing to change his whole life to please him . Once you see understand who Jesus really is, it will make you willing to offer him your entire life.

These days a lot of people are asking the same question, What is love? For many this questions is asked because they don’t want their baby, or anyone else, to hurt them no more…no more. Truthfully, almost everyone, at some point, has played their heart while another played their game and…it gave love a bad name. Yes, sometimes love stinks. But, some choose to ride the love roller coaster anyway. They search everywhere for this crazy thing called love. They have allowed themselves to be prisoners of love. They are addicted to love. But, deep in their soul, they know that they’ve lost that lovin’ feeling…oh that loving feeling.

But, lets return the commonly asked question, What is love? Maybe, this crazy little thing called love is not so bad after all. Maybe love seems to bite, only because we have a poor vision of love. Perhaps there is a groovy kind of love, an endless love. What if, instead of thinking we love somebody, but wanting to know for sure, we could be certain? What if, instead of musing, I want to know what love is, we could define it in tangible ways – ways that we could live out. If this were true, perhaps then, we could see the power of love.

Too often people live insignificant lives. A majority of humanity lives only for their own sustenance and satisfaction. This either either causes or comes from lives that are fear filled, worry driven, and timid. Christians do not seem to be immune to this type of attitude.
