Learning a new skill or new information which could help us advance our career, our personal and professional development, and establish a daily learning habit does not have to be hard or frustrating. Learning should be fun, welcoming, and continuous, not difficult and inconvenient. That is why it is important to be ready and willing to learn, grow, and expand our own knowledge each day and to have a plan on how you are going to do it every day. This is what this podcast episode is all about.

There are many different tools and resources available and used by adults in order to improve their self-leadership and personal development skills and knowledge. But how about young adults - teenagers - shouldn't they be able to do the same, while attending school and beyond, extending their knowledge and newly learned skills into the real world? I certainly think so, and that is what I discuss in this episode - ways for modern teens to begin developing themeselves personally and professionally, and learning the art of self-leadership and continuous learning.

In this episode I discuss the Consultative Sales Approach, what it is and how one may use it when working with customers and clients.

Have a confidence, passion and excitement in everything that you do, offer, sell, or teach

Have a complete confidence in yourself, product or service you are selling and offering in person or online, and have confidence in your company you work for or business that you own

Let your passion speak for you. If you are passionate about what you do or sell, everything else will fall into place, as long as you are honest and transparent about that what you offer to others in all in-person or virtual interactions. So, be excited and show your excitement to your customers, your clients, and/or your students

Be truthful and transparent about products or services that you are selling. Because, if you are dishonest in what you do, sell, or teach, you may win a sale today, but eventually you will lose your customers’ trust and business. Customer’s trust and loyalty is everything to a successful business and its longevity.

Someone may be dealing with some challenging situation in their personal or professional life, but you will never know about it because they prefer to keep their personal life and challenges or problems they are facing to themselves. Therefore, do not judge other people based on what they said or did until you had an opportunity to learn and understand what is the root cause behind their words and/or actions. Also, remember to be respectful of other people's privacy. If they choose to share their problems and challenges with you, than see if you may be able to help, but if they choose not to share their unique situation or their thoughts with you, then be respectful of their privacy. Don't be quick in judging someone's words or actions, until you understand what they may be going through.

In this episode the importance and necessity of being happy with yourself if discussed.

There is no reason why we should not be happy with our wonderful, brilliant, smart, and unique selves. We are born to bring and introduce something unique, something that only we can do and/or offer, such as unique skills, character, personality, way of thinking, etc.

We must remember to love ourselves and remember that we are enough, and that we are stronger than we think. Our strength is deeply rooted within us and is always there when we need it. We should also remember to smile more, even then things get tough. Positive mindset and optimistic outlook on life is very important and powerful in everything that we do or say.

Our daily lives are a series of habits which we had formed over a long period of time, sometimes months or even years. Bad habits don't just dissapear, it takes effort, hard work, and commitment on our part to get rid of those habits that do not add any value to the quality of our lives. It works the same way for establishing good habits - it doesn't happen overnight.  We should ask ourselves each day how each habit either benefits us or hurts us, and be honest with ourselves.

In this episode I am discussing the topic of Affirmations and using them to help us get closer to achieving our goals and objectives that we set for ourselves.

Some key points to note:

Affirmations without goals and actionable steps taken by us to achieve goals set are simply empty phrases and activity without any purpose.

Affirmations are important, but only when words that we say are backed by the actionable steps that we take to achieve that what we strive for.

Affirmations are designed to help us stay focused and remind ourselves of our goals and objectives.

By regularly using Affirmations we paint a mental picture and map in our mind visualizing our path towards achieving everything that we say that we want to achieve or have.

So, it is end of the year 2021. I am sure it is not going to be to anyone’s surprise when I say that this year was not an easy one. Of course, Covid-19 played and continues to play in that, but so is the daily challenges and problems that we all face. Many of us never admit that they are going through some tough times just because for whatever reason it is not the topic that many people want to talk about with others, and in some cases not even sharing their challenges with their own family members. Why? I do not know. I believe that it is important to be honest with ourselves and those whom we care about and trust and be able to have an open and honest conversation when appropriate. Not only does it help to free our mind and our head from constant worries and stress, but also it is a fantastic opportunity to obtain someone else’s thoughts, opinions, and recommendations pertaining to the situation that we may be in, and to find potential solution together versus trying to do it all on our own.

With all this being said, as year is ending, now is a wonderful opportunity to take some time to reflect on everything that has happened, everything we continue to deal with, both good and no so good. This is also a great time to analyze actions we took to address and overcome some challenges we faced during the year, in order to document and have a plan of action when similar situations or challenges come up in the future.

Some of the key questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

  • New Year's Resolutions - what do they mean to you and those around you? Are you typically wait until the last minute, until Dec.31st to set your goals, objectives, habits that you would like to form or get rid of, or are you working towards accomplishing your goals throughout the year?
  • Why so many people wait until the end of the year to create and set their goals for the following year instead of setting, changing, updating, and working towards their goals and objectives during the year? Why procrastinate? Could this be the reason why so many of us give up on our goals shortly after the beginning of the new year, because, we do not have needed focus and determination to stick to what we want to accomplish?
  • Change - what does change means to you, and how do you interpret and see the concept of change? Are you viewing change as a positive or a negative part of our life?
  • Are you someone who is always open and welcome change, or you do everything you can to avoid change and pretend that change had never took place? Whether you like it or not but change is always present in our life, and the sooner we can recognize it, the easier it would be for us to actually face and deal with change.
  • If we look at change from a big picture perspective and try to understand what are the driving factors behind the particular change, in most cases we would realize that change is an opportunity for us to reset and re-focus while focusing on our future

  • Progress associated with pursuit of our goals and dreams in life - why is it important to understand how progress or lack thereof may have a direct effect on our desire to go after that what we truly want?
  • What is the main inhibitor of progress? Why many of us give up before we reach the finish line, before we accomplish that what we had started, something that we cared about before? What is different now? Is it less important to us now than it was few days, weeks, months, or even years ago?
  • Wil you stop pursuing your lifetime goal or dream if/when you do not see an immediate progress or result, or will you keep going, keep trying, keep working and making perhaps small but determined steps forward until you eventually reach and accomplish your one thing that you've been thinking and dreaming about?
  • Why so many of us stop half way from the finish line? What factors impact our desire and willingness to keep trying, keep fighting for what we want and hope to achieve? Do we change or do we simply lose hope and give up too soon?

Some of the key questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

  • Process and speed with which we create excuses and not following through on our commitments, promises and goals is a rocky road filled with excuses and false promises to ourselves and others - why are we doing that to ourselves every day, every year?

  • Are we expecting results too soon, living in the state of immediate gratification, or we are we simply not fully committed to go after our goals?
  • What does it take to establish new habits or to overwrite an existing ones? New habits do not get established overnight, it takes time, sometimes a lot of time, patience, dedication and commitment. Do we really want to create new habits and improve our present and future or we are we just saying that we do because it sounds good to us and others?
  • New Years Resolution goals are simply and illusion that many of us create every year just to knowingly create false perception of goal-setting and commitment and to feel good about ourselves, at least for a short period of time. Why not set and stick to our commitments every day of the year? Why not stop making false promises and lie to ourselves when setting new goals?

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the Heart & Mind of a Leader show. I am happy to have you here. Please share your feedback about this topic and episode in the comments below. Thank you - Alex Kheyson

Some of the main questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

  • Have you ever asked yourself a question - "how am I being perceived by others?" "what do other people think about me, my attitude, my character, my actions?" If not, then now is the time to reflect and look inside yourself
  • Don't you want to make sure people see you for who you really are, vs. who they may perceive you as?
  • Do you really want to show others - your employees, your business clients, new people you meet how much you care about your business and personal relationships? I hope the answer for you is YES, because for me it certainly is.
  • We are often perceived for not who we are inside, and not for our true genuine intentions, but strictly for immediate shell that we present, an outside business image of ourselves, which often pushes people away from us, and then we wonder why some people do not want to do business with us or even interact with us daily. The answer lies in you, and it is your responsibility to uncover your true reality to be viewed for who you really are

  • How do we view challenging situations that we face in your lives? Are we looking at each challenge as an opportunity to grow and learn from or as something that can't be solved
  • The way we view each situation, positive or negative, affects the outcome of the outcome of that specific situation
  • Being afraid to reach out for help due to personal ego, is a big mistake that many of us make every time we need help. How can we be more open and not be afraid to ask for help?
  • Positive and optimistic outlook is the key. Getting negativity to get inside of you and keeping it in is not beneficial for our own mindset and wellbeing
  • Being in control, always remembering that each situation can be viewed from a different, a positive angle, while keeping negativity away

Hi everyone,

Alex Kheyson here. Welcome to the Heart & Mind of a Leader show.

In this episode I am discussing the following points and questions:

  • What are you capable of achieving? Why do we set limits to our growth and future?
  • Whatever you think in you mind is the end result, ultimately leads you to that result. Is it possible or impossible what you think?
  • Do you have what it takes to succeed and reach your goal? Is having passion the only requirement? Passion is only the beginning, but other ingredients must be present to keep going
  • Why do we give up on our goals so easily and stop trying? Is it caused by the situation or is it caused by our decisions? We often stop before the finish line is reached, half-way towards our goal
  • The important of giving your 100%. Different between want to accomplishing a goal and making a decision to accomplish it. Why this is important?
  • Five takeaways to think about before you go

Hi everyone,

In this episode the following points and questions are addressed:

  • What is the purpose of the weekend in your opinion and how it aligns to the opinions of others. Or is there an general alignment?
  • Do you see weekend as an opportunity to relax or opportunity to work on your goals? I guess this completely depends on your goals.
  • Weekend and opportunity it presents to work on your goals and dreams, as well as setting the foundation for the upcoming week. Time to grind or time to play? Which option aligns with your mission?
  • By dedicating 5-8+ hours on Saturday and Sunday to get closer to your personal and professional goals, are you taking time away or adding more time to spend with your family? This is difficult, but not impossible question to answer.
  • The importance of time and how it can help or hurt your mission in the long run?

In this podcast episode I am discussing the following:

Why most people focus on what they see above the surface and expect great things come to them, without considering or thinking about the 'roots', foundation, what is beneath the surface? We expect things just come to us, money, wealth, job, and success, but we are not willing to work to get it.

Let's focus on building our foundation in few simple steps, in order to get the life and future that we want for ourselves. Stop blaming others for your failures, or lack of happiness, start doing, go after what you want and show the world what you are capable of.

Hey everyone,

My apologies for a long pause.

In this episode I am uncovering the question that all of us are asking ourselves as some point in our lives - "What do I really want in life?" Many of us are faced with uncertainty, whether you want to admit it or not.

In this post I am sharing a question that you can ask yourself, which took me many years or going through self-reflection sessions and many failures and mistakes that I've made while trying to find the answer to the question same question. This one self-uncovering question had changed my life and helped me to uncover my passion. Only one question that you need to ask yourself if you are still not happy where you are in life, not happy with your job, or how much money you earn. It took me many long years, until I finally uncovered this one question which helped me see the path that I want to take in my life. Don't wait several more years asking yourself what you want in life, begin living the life of your dreams today.
