Now you know that saying… “all good things come to those who wait” – well never has that been more apropos than today’s show – cause after nearly 13 years of trying to connect – celebrating his work on SEA AND BE SCENE and talking about him with countless other guests on the show I am FINALLY getting a chance to chat with Nova Scotia born singer/songwriter/musician/actor/artistic director/film composer and truly cool person Stewart Legere and you’ve gotta know after more nearly 13 years I’ve got a ton of questions, especially about his Sold Out Valentine’s Day sho fellow creator and friend Kim Harris entitled YOUNG HEARTS that celebrates the soundtrack from Baz Lurhmann’s ROMEO + JULIET. We’ll also talk about how his music made its way onto the big screen in Thom Fitzgerald’s award-winning feature SPLINTERS, his sidesplitting stand-in for Jenn Grant in the cake-making scene of JENNY TOWN’S season finale talk about some truly delightful collaborations with awesome east coast artists. We’ll also get to 1st Things First, play a long overdue round of INsights IN 10, and spins as much of his marvellous music as we can within the hour – so with all that ahead we best get to it. By now I’m sure I’ve said a million times – maybe more but – it bears repeating today because one of Atlantic Canada’s greatest natural resources is music and there’s nothing I like more than celebrating that bounty – so you have to know how thrilled I was to hear from my Sound of Pop pal Tim Hardy a couple week’s back. You see among a whole bunch of other stellar stuff – Sound of Pop secures placement in TV and film productions for the songs created by their righteous roster of artists – as it turns out he was calling to connect me with one such artist who’s edgy pop single “Welcome to My Life” can be heard in Season 2 Episode 3 of Netflix’s number one show GINNY & GEORGIA. So we’ll get the scoop on how that song came together and so much more – including how she found her urban pop sound growing up in rural New Brunswick, how she feels about performing live and how she’s come to work with some truly cool collaborators – we’ll also get to first things first, play a fun round of insights in ten and chat about how being a mom is her best gig yet. That’s right he’s back a Sea and be Scene and Heard All Star of the highest order and my big brother John Swinimer. Now truth be told we talk a lot off the air – as my go-to tech guy throughout the entire run of seaandbescene.com and now for East Coast Curator we’re connecting a least once a week to keep the old train on the tracks. His work in Public Relations keeps him busy as does his cool website and podcast – True North Country Comics through which he promotes Canadian comic book creators and their supporters, and he just got back from the 2023 Edition of CES in Las Vegas Nevada so I thought the timing was perfect to catch up for a little chat here on covefm – during which we’ll get the scoop on all of that and then some – including some truly cool new products, who he believes is the best batman and were he stands on Oscar Pools. After another very busy year filled with big screen roles in features like THE LAST MARK and MOONFALL and TV turns in shows like MURDOCH MYSTERIES and DOOMLANDS not to mention his continued composing of film scores – he was home for the holidays. So we met up for a hot chocolate and a chat at the Bandstand in Chester, Nova Scotia on a crazy warm day in late December. To talk about all of that and so much more – including his most recent movie role in the forthcoming HALEY ROSE, his ongoing work with aspiring young stage actors, his debut album Variety Show and how exactly he landed on the dance floor in a Director X video for Drake.
