Tez Ilyas started performing comedy in 2010 – hitting the ground running he found himself in no less than eight competition finals, including the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year. Ilyas' debut show Tez Talk resembles TED Talks, the popular conference lecture series Ilyas' show is inspired by his life as a British Muslim and defuses numerous misconceptions about Islam. His show is staged as an introductory seminar in becoming a convert to Islam with the audience playing the part of potential new recruits. This enables Ilyas to explain the intricacies of his belief system, while putting bigoted misconceptions to bed. He gives a series of mock-inspirational speeches on integrating into British society, and explains concepts like jihad and Ramadan with unpatronising good humour, explores "British values" and debunks Islamophobic abuse. In August 2015, Ilyas performed the show at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In February 2016, he the show at London's Soho Theatre.
A BBC Radio 4 pilot, based on Tez Talks has been commissioned. Ilyas was awarded a place on the BBC's writers academy and he has written and filmed his own scripted comedy short for Sky. He has appeared on both The Now Show and the Children in Need Comedy Gala for BBC Radio 4, and appeared on both Virtually Famous on E4 and Live From the BBC on BBC Three.
Col Spector is an award winning documentary and feature film director whose credits include Honeymooner (launched at the Edinburgh Film Festival) and Someone Else, the Variety Critics Choice at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, widely released in the UK and USA through IFC Films and the Sundance Channel. He mentors in documentary filmmaking and is currently developing his latest feature I’m Not In Love.
Lottie is known for her role of Meryl in ITV's Mr Selfridge and has just finished filming Silent Witness, & Harlots. Both due to air Spring 2017.
Sacha Dhawan has appeared in a number of television shows in the United Kingdom. He had recurring roles in Weirdsister College, in which he played Azmat Madaridi, and series two and three of the children's TV series Out of Sight. He appeared in the mini series The Last Train (1999), and has guest starred in episodes on EastEnders, Altogether Now, and City Central.[4] He also appeared in 2008 ITV drama, Wired, as Ben Chandrakar, alongside Jodie Whittaker and Laurence Fox. He was part of an ensemble cast on the NBC sitcom Outsourced, which aired during the 2010–11 season.[5] In November 2013, Dhawan appeared as former director Waris Hussein in An Adventure in Space and Time, a docu-drama created as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations for Doctor Who. He also portrayed Paul Jatri, a 22-year-old man involved with a woman twice his age, in the first series of BBC One's Last Tango in Halifax.
