How to Achieve Anything: An episode about accomplishing what you want and wanting beneficial things.
One of the ideas I hear parroted mindlessly nowadays really irks me. It irritates me like no other idea because it is absolutely, blatantly, irrefutably inaccurate, and at the same time extremely oppressive, enraging, and disheartening. It is the idea that when you are born, things the color of your skin, your gender, your family social standing, and your family wealth level are the finite and unchangeable factors which will determine your individual outcome in life.
The argument is something like, you are black therefor your life experience will inevitably lead you to fulfill stringent expectations of negative stereotypes. For example, you are black, therefor you WILL underachieve in your career due to discrimination in employment.
It could be something like, you are being raised by a single mother in a bad neighborhood, therefor you will have little opportunity to better your life.
