On this week’s podcast the team – Jack Pitt-Brooke, Ed Malyon and Miguel Delaney - look back on one of the most exciting weeks in the recent history of the Champions League. Delaney talks us through Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona, why Barca were so poor and what it means for the future of their ageing team. And we ask whether this was the greatest ever Anfield European night.
Then we move on Ajax 2-3 Tottenham, and ask whether it is an even more dramatic upset. What was it like to report on a game with such a spectacular second half? What does it mean for the future of this Ajax team? And how did Spurs find it within themselves to turn it around.
Facing the first all-English final since 2008, we ask how the psychology will affect the game. Would this be a consolation prize for Liverpool if they fail to win the league? Or will it put a new expectation – and new pressure –on them?
Today’s podcast is about the Champions League, looking back at the two first legs this week. First at Tottenham, we ask just how good Ajax were, whether Mauricio Pochettino got his tactics wrong and if there is any hope for the second leg. Could Ajax find themselves under more pressure now that they are expected to progress?
Then on to Barcelona, where a very impressive Liverpool performance still led to a disastrous result. They can take plenty of credit but is it any solace now that their brilliant season hangs by a thread?
It was Lionel Messi’s goal that decided the tie: given the state of the tie, was that the goal that won the Champions League? And given how dedicated Messi is to his art, is there another player in another sport who comes close to him?
Jack Pitt-Brooke is host this week, and together with Jonathan Liew and Miguel Delaney, the guys look forward to Wednesday's huge Manchester derby and start with an in-depth look at Manchester United, and why the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era has started to go wrong already. What if he is not Ole Gunnar Di Matteo but their Ole Gunnar Sherwood?
Then they look at Manchester City, their own form, and the strange dynamic of a derby that will be without needle because of United fans' opposition to Liverpool winning the league.
Ed Malyon is joined by Jack Pitt-Brooke and Jack Rathborn to dissect a thrilling week of Champions League quarter-finals in which Man United and Man City both fell by the wayside while Liverpool, Tottenham, Ajax and Barcelona progressed. But that barely scratches the surface of the controversy and confusion that took over our week.

International football is back, and the Premier League title race has been paused for England's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro. Even with this, the most popular England team for a generation, how much do we all care? Jack Pitt-Brooke, Jonathan Liew and Lawrence Ostlere discuss.
England could win two trophies in the next 15 months, with the Nations League finals in Porto this June then Euro 2020 at Wembley next year. We look back at England's evolution up to this point and ask where they go next. Who plays at right-back? What is the right combination in midfield? Is Declan Rice the missing link?
Because Euro 2020 could well be the peak tournament for this generation, England's best chance at a trophy. Especially because the example of Germany shows that teams have to win while they are still young and before stasis sets in.
And finally, the biggest topic of the week: which England players are Leave or Remain, in the eyes of Jonathan Liew.
Jack Pitt-Brooke is your host before Ed Malyon returns somewhat belatedly to the show. Miguel Delaney and Jonathan Liew are also in the studio to discuss this weekend's games but, mainly, this weekend's incidents which have somewhat taken over the news agenda

Jack Pitt-Brooke is joined by Jonathan Liew and Luke Brown, as they look back at England's famous 2-1 win over Croatia on Sunday afternoon and ask whether this was the best England game to be held at the new Wembley Stadium over the last 11 years. Or was there a better game in another sport played there?
Sunday afternoon felt like a vindication for the Nations League format, which will climax in Porto next June. Have UEFA been proved right by how competitive these games are? And what connections can we draw between the teams who have been the most successful so far?
It has been a remarkable year for the England team and the team discuss the steady improvement, which meant that reaching the World Cup semi-finals has not been the peak for this team as they have continued to develop since then. The 4-3-3 appears to have made England more dangerous than the 3-5-2 ever did, but how?
Finally we look back at the England career of a man who won 11 caps under Steve McClaren as a teenager before fading into obscurity far quicker than anyone could have imagined.
On today’s show Jack Pitt-Brooke stays in caretaker charge and he is joined by chief football writer Miguel Delaney and ESPN’s Liam Twomey.
One third of the way into the Premier League season, they discuss the clearer distinctions of the Premier League table and whether Manchester City will start to pull away at the top. Is it unfair to judge Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool if they cannot catch them? Does he have to win the title to be a success there? And are Liverpool – like their rivals – waiting until Guardiola eventually steps aside in 2020 or 2021? This is the international fortnight and so attention moves onto the Wayne Rooney Foundation International at Wembley on Thursday night. Is it a nice tribute to a great player? Or is it an embarrassing devaluing of what it means to play for England? And if Rooney is devaluing what it means to play for England, then what about all the other, lesser players to wear the shirt in recent years? Then after the international break is the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors, which Miguel is flying out for. He tells us what to expect and the special status the Libertadores still enjoys.

Can you take bias out of football journalism? What about emotion?
Then we move onto this season’s title race and whether we expect Manchester City to rack up another 100 points. Is this Manchester City hegemony good for the Premier League? Where will it all end? Given what we learned from Football Leaks this week, what is the immediate future for the top end of the professional game? Is football finished as we know it?
