Our new studio setup reflects the transitions we face in our spiritual journeys, underscoring the importance of daily devotionals and regular Bible study to stay anchored in God's truth. We discuss Jesus's triumph over death, his shared humanity, and his ultimate glorification, reinforcing his dual nature as fully God and fully man. As we anticipate Hebrews Chapter 3, we prepare to delve into the comparison between Jesus and Moses, affirming Jesus's superiority using a blend of Old and New Testament scriptures. Who really wrote the Book of Hebrews, and why does it matter? In this episode, we tackle the enduring mystery of its authorship and the ongoing debate over whether Paul was behind its composition. By contrasting Hebrews with Paul's other letters, we highlight the unique stylistic differences and set the scene for understanding the complex context in which it was written. This book was aimed at Jewish converts grappling with the seismic shift from Old Testament practices to the revolutionary teachings of Jesus—a transition that was anything but smooth.

Moving on, we shine a spotlight on Jesus' divine nature and unparalleled purpose as depicted in Hebrews and the Gospel of John. You'll hear about His portrayal as the radiance of God's glory and the exact imprint of His nature, existing from the dawn of creation. This episode underscores the shift from God communicating through prophets to the direct revelation through His Son, Jesus—who purified sins and now reigns at God's right hand. We also touch on the significant roles angels played in biblical narratives, ultimately reinforcing Jesus' supreme status over all heavenly beings.

Lastly, we dissect the hierarchy and superiority of Jesus within Jewish tradition and Christian theology. Jewish culture revered angels, but Hebrews makes it clear: Jesus stands far above them. Using various scriptures, we illustrate that God never bestowed the same honor upon angels as He did upon His Son. Through these passages, we emphasize Jesus' eternal nature and supreme authority, making it clear that while angels serve as messengers, Jesus reigns as the eternal King. So, grab a friend and join us for this enriching exploration of the Book of Hebrews, and stay tuned for more thought-provoking discussions.

As we brought our exploration of 2 Thessalonians chapter three to a close, our conversation took a deep dive into the intersection of faith and action. Paul's timeless message to the Thessalonian church echoed through the ages, challenging us to shun idleness while embracing the sanctity of work. He offered a blueprint for spiritual fortitude, urging the faithful to support each other through prayer and to remain vigilant against the forces of evil. Our discussion reflected on Paul's own metamorphosis from adversary to advocate, casting his teachings in a new light that underscored the transformative power of faith and the protection it affords.

Tackling the Christian ethos of work, Nick and Aaron unpacked the delicate dance between community support and the promotion of self-reliance. We traversed through scripture to remind ourselves that while the anticipation of Christ's return is vital, it should not deter us from daily toil and contribution to our communities. Our discourse reaffirmed that to work quietly and earn our keep is to live out Biblical principles, a testament to the depth of our conviction and the embodiment of our dedication to the tenets of our faith. Join us on this profound journey, and let's carry these teachings into our lives, letting them shape the way we interact with the world and with the divine.

In a recent episode we got a little off topic but became an awesome conversation about what SUCCESS looks like!+

Have you ever paused to measure the true weight of success? If you're wrestling with the definition of success, particularly from a Christian perspective, this episode is a beacon for those seeking clarity. We wade through the muddy waters of worldly accolades versus the divine fulfillment that comes from following Jesus Christ's example of compassion and service. Drawing from powerful Biblical narratives, we contrast the lure of material prosperity with the call to care for the less fortunate, and ponder how aligning our pursuits with God's will reshapes our understanding of true achievement.

Our conversation takes an unexpected turn with the tale of a simple fisherman, a story that deftly challenges society's conventional success metrics and champions the virtues of contentment and simplicity. We share personal reflections on the uses of wealth and the idea that true success in God's eyes looks strikingly different from the world's view. This thoughtful discussion invites you to reassess your goals and consider whether your life's direction is pointing towards temporal treasures or eternal values. As we explore these themes, listeners are encouraged to reflect on the profound question: what does it really mean to be successful, both in life and in faith?

Ever wondered how the unpredictability of the 'Day of the Lord' aligns with the idea of being ever-vigilant and prepared? Our latest episode takes you through a riveting exploration of 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5, where we discuss the profound teachings of Paul to the early church. As children of light, we are called to be ready, not just for the end times, but for the everyday trials that test our faith. We dissect the powerful symbolism of light and darkness, reflecting on the readiness required of us as believers and how the state of our world might signal the nearing of profound change. The conversation goes deeper as we consider whether the events of today are the very 'labor pains' that scripture speaks of, helping us to remain steadfast and watchful.

Bringing practical advice into the mix, we shed light on the essential Christian tenets of respect within the community, unwavering support for the weak, and the cultivation of a peaceful and patient spirit. The episode brings to the forefront the enduring relevance of rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks, which are more than just spiritual practices; they are the very essence of God's will for us. As we unpack these themes, we also tackle the challenges of living in a world that tempts us to turn away from the light, stressing the importance of not quenching the Spirit and being discerning of prophecies. Our parting message is a call to action: share the wisdom gleaned from our talk, uplift one another, and carry the light forward into the new year, regardless of the darkness that surrounds us.

Do you ever ponder if knowing Jesus equates to being known by Him? We delve into this intriguing question in our latest podcast episode, reflecting on the profound Parable of the Ten Virgins from Matthew 25:11-13. We explore this very possibility, picking cues from Matthew 25:35-45, analyzing Jesus' differing responses to the righteous and unrighteous. We urge you to find those small cracks in your daily routines to serve the Kingdom, to make God look bigger than ourselves. We wrap up by inviting you to introspect, to reflect on your relationship with Jesus, to foster a deep reverence and fear of God. Another Old Episode from the beginning of the show. Hopefully you guys enjoy this one and also enjoy that we have gotten a little better at podcasting!

Again extra bonus points for how many "umm"s you can count! lol

A Christian is someone whose behavior and heart reflects Jesus Christ. Followers of Jesus were first called “Christians” in Antioch. ... The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch." They were called "Christians" because their speech and behavior were like Christ.

Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. (The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch).

**John 12:26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me

Act 26:28**

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”

1Peter 4:16

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

  • The NLT Bible has it the most at 25 times. The NLT bible was written in 1996.

Gal 3:3 NLT

How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

Gal 3:3 NIV Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[fn]

1 Peter 2:17 NLT

Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters.[fn] Fear God, and respect the king.

1 Peter 2:17 NIV

Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.

Brian C joins Nick and Aaron to dive deeper into the Fear of God. In this episode they break down our Christian walk down into three parts and how each part relates to the Fear of God. We can be tossed around in our walk but our goal is to stay centered in His truth.
Step 1 Trembling  Fear:

  • Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It's the beginning of understanding, the beginning of prudence, which is thought or care about a specific thing."

Step 2 Fear of Outcome:

  • Psalm 128:1,4 "Blessed are all who fear the Lord, and walk in obedience to Him ... Yes, this will be a blessing, for the man who fears the Lord."

Step 3 Reverence for God:

  • Psalm 115:11 "You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord. He is their help and their shield."
  • Prov. 14:26 "In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have refuge."

As Brian pointed out we may get tossed around between these different stages, but we need to remember that God is in all of them. Your walk is just that: God breathed and unique to you and there is something great about that.

This week we dive into 1 Peter Chapter 1. The big question from this chapter is are we living holy lives. We also questions can you get to a holy life without trials and refinement. God is going to refine use much like we refine gold. Tossed into a fiery situation and pulled out looking shinny a refined.

There is in this chapter to not to conform to the world, but prepare our minds for action and self-control, and becoming more Holy like God. 1 Peter 1 16 For the Scriptures says, "you must be holy because I am holy." Lets strive together to become more Holy..

We are looking forward to studying the rest of Peter with you. Please join us next week in 1 Peter Chapter 2.

Nick and Aaron are joined by 2 of their kids for the reading of the Christmas story. With some humorous discussion about what the story means. We hope and pray that you have a wonderful Christmas, remembering and embracing what Jesus has done for you and your family. Although this has been a difficult season we are truly blessed by the King of Kings Jesus Christ, the Messiah of the world.

Luke 2:1-24
1 At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. 2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. 5 He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. 7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.

The Shepherds and Angels 8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! 12 And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in highest heaven,

and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” 15 When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. 17 After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. 18 All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. 20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

Jesus Is Presented in the Temple 21 Eight days later, when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived. 22 Then it was time for their purification offering, as required by the law of Moses after the birth of a child; so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. 23 The law of the Lord says, “If a woman’s first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord.” 24 So they offered the sacrifice required in the law of the Lord—“either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”

On this episode the Two Fish Community will be discussing how God tends to push us out of our comfort zones.

Nick picked up on a theme in a recent message by a Pastor friend Jordan. In his sermon on living in community he taught from the old Testament Moses leading Israelites out of Egypt and when the Israelites were approaching the promised land.

Then in our last episode Special Edition: Testimonies of God in Our Lives Pt. 2 we heard testimony of this taking place. God can be pushing for change in your life, which can make us think and feel outside our comfort zone. In reality God is driving you to something better, rather it be spiritually, physically or mental.

Things to consider, both Nick and Aaron have felt challenged by these in recent months.
Maybe you were challenged by where your lines are. Do they need to change?
Do you need to be pushed outside your current thinking or comfort zone?

This week the Two Fish Podcast had Luke Aadalen as a guest. Luke is lead pastor in Oklahoma he was in town and was able to connect with us.

In this episode we discussed where to draw the line between worldly authority and our Christian faith. This can be a hard point to understand and in what situations do we draw a line. Everyone can have a different line as well depending on the issue. The one thing Nick, Aaron, and Luke agreed on for sure was that we need to make sure we are clothed with Jesus and our Christian faith comes first above all else.

Nick & Aaron talk about this Man named Paul.

Paul

Born Saul in Tarsus which is located in modern day Turkey

Jew by birth

  • The Apostle Paul, sometimes called Saint Paul or Saul of Tarsus, lived from about 5 BCE / 5 CE to about 67 CE
  • Dad became a Roman citizen which gave Paul dual citizenship. Being roman had percs
    • Acts 16:37-39 37 But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.” 38 The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed. 39 They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.

Highly educated.

  • Until about the midpoint of his life, Paul was a member of the Pharisees, a religious party that emerged during the later Second Temple period.
    • There were two main groups in the Jewish culture Pharisee and Sadducees
  • Pharisee of Pharisee
  • Student of Gamaliel. Was a very wise man.
    • Acts 22:3 I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
  • Gamaliel later saves Paul from persecution Acts 5:34 34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.
  • Aaron’s fav part to the Gamaliel Rant which stands up to time
    • 38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

Paul was strict on the law and destined Christians for what he thought was heresy by going against it.

  • Oversaw the first Christian killing of Steven
    • Acts 8:1-3
      • 1 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.
    • At this point Saul would not have believed that Jesus was the messiah.
    • He would not have believed in the resurrection of Jesus.
  • This was probably important because it scattered people and they still proclaimed the name of Jesus everywhere they went. So the word spread even faster, God used the death of Steven to spread his news.

Paul's conversion

  • Acts 9:1-6
    • Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I a

In this episode Nick & Aaron focus on the parable of the Rich Fool found in Luke 12. Nick reads for ESV Bible and Aaron reads from an NIV Bible. Is this parable just about money? Nick and Aaron think it has everything to do with money but yet nothing to do with money and it is more about the heart. What crown are you putting on your heart? Is God your top priority or is work, your time, your money or something else. Take time and reflect on this.
