Jesus does not adopt a one-size-fits-all method but treats everyone as an individual. In Mark 5 we find an encounter that reveals Jesus's willingness to go through a fierce storm to reach one lost soul! This demon-possessed man's transformation from a tormented, isolated individual to a man of peace showcases Jesus's power to heal and restore, regardless of the depth of one's despair. This encounter not only points to the personal attention Jesus gives but also His authority over evil. This message challenges us to consider our own willingness to let Jesus in and change us. The response to Jesus's work in our lives-whether we accept Him and share our stories oftransformation or push Him away due to fear of change-reveals our true priorities. This message invites us to consider Jesus's relentless pursuit of us, His desire to meet us in our darkest places, and the profound impact of embracing His presence in our lives."Jesus still wants a close encounter with you in2024." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're actually blessed to gather with all 3 of our campuses and to hear from all of our pastors this morning as they bring us a collections of messages that focus on the stories of God working through real people in real life. We'll hear from our Senior Pastor, Jeff Ellis, our Administrative Pastor, Chad Overbeek, our Alanson Campus Pastor, John Jones, our East Jordan Campus Pastor, Jason Richey, and our Teaching & Creative Pastor, Brant Cole."Family is our framework. We grow better together." - Church Core Value No. 5
We're blessed to hear from our Teaching and Creative Pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our new series called "Colossians: The Complete Life". Today's message is about the practical aspects of living a Christ-centered life. This includes three key practices: praying continually, living purposefully, and serving faithfully. "Despite the circumstance, every moment is a chance for the Gospel to advance." - Pastor Brant Cole
Today, Detroit Tigers chaplain Jeff Totten provides wisdom on where to look in life for the right guidance and wisdom. In sports, as well as in life, bad calls and poor decisions are all too common. These kinds of events mirror our lives where misguided decisions often arise not from malice, but from misdirected focus. The question that emerges is: are we looking in the right direction for guidance and wisdom? The Apostle Paul, in Colossians chapter 3, offers a profound solution to this dilemma through what can be termed as A "Completely New Outlook On Life".
We're blessed to hear from our Teaching and Creative Pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our new series called "Colossians: The Complete Life". Today's message addresses the common struggle of feeling distant from God and the futile efforts to atone for it through self-discipline or judgment of others. The main point that we see in Colossians 2 is that Christ's work is sufficient for our salvation, negating the need for self-made righteousness."Loving the Gospel for yourself leads to godliness in yourself." - Pastor Brant Cole
We're blessed to hear from our Teaching and Creative Pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our new series called "Colossians: The Complete Life". Today, he walks us through one of the most glorious descriptions in the Bible of Jesus Christ in Colossians 1. And then the message points to how believers should revere, revolve around, and reveal Christ in all our lives."Reveal the story of Christ in you, the hope of glory!" - Pastor Brant Cole
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message in our Christmas series, "The Signs of Christmas." Today, he talks about the response of the shepherds to the newborn King. Like the shepherds, we need to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others, even if they feel unprepared or fear being perceived as odd. You don't have to have all the answers to witness about Jesus; all you need to speak about is your genuine experience of His transformative power."God Almighty is still in the business of using nobodies to get His work accomplished." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message in our new Christmas series, "The Signs of Christmas." Today, he talks about giving gifts to Jesus - not just material things - but giving him actions and devotion, ultimately inviting Him to rule and reign in our lives."Genuine Christmas is inviting Jesus to rule and reign in your life." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message in our new Christmas series, "The Signs of Christmas." Today, he talks about the challenge of living fully devoted to Jesus, seeking him with our whole hearts."Daily, we must fight to stay hot in our love and devotion for King Jesus." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our Teaching and Creative Pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our series called "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality". Today, he talks about the command and the healing opportunity of forgiveness. In fact, forgiveness is one of the defining actions of a Christian. We are rarely more like God than when we forgive."Christians can forgive the inexcusable in others, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in us." - Pastor Brant Cole
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about personal transformation and the commitment to living in holy lives. Because we are now the living temples of God, the challenge is to cleanse our lives of practices and attitudes that get in the way of our spiritual growth."Jesus is willing to clear everything out of the way, so we can personally taste His love and His grace." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about about the connection between emotional health and spiritual maturity in the Christian life. Many Christians, no matter how old, often act like emotional infants. And this prevents them from giving the love they've received from Jesus to love for other people. In contrast, emotional maturity is rooted in the perfect love of Jesus, a love that actively flows through us to others."Followers of Jesus should be the best lovers of people on the face of the earth." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our East Jordan campus pastor, Jason Richey, this morning as he brings us a message about the transformative power of daily spending time with Jesus, listening to Him, and allowing His Spirit to guide our lives. This practice, possibly one of the most crucial steps in a Christian's journey, will change how each of us lives and enables Jesus to work in our lives."We’re gonna live, not by accident, but on purpose." - Pastor Jason Richey
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about the gift and the glory of Sabbath rest. Sabbath is a weekly reminder that life is not about what we achieve or produce, but about centering our lives on Jesus and trusting in His provision!"Sabbath rest reminds us that we are more than what we achieve or produce." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about the importance of creating space in our lives for the unexpected and for the essential things that truly matter."Margin requires diligence or it disappears quickly!" - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about emotional baggage and how it often gets in the way of our spiritual growth.Rather than growing resentful or questioning God's intent when we're faced with adversity, we can trust in God's wisdom and grace. The essence of this message is captured in Paul's phrase: "For when I am weak, then I am strong" - it's the paradoxical nature of spiritual strength in the face of human frailty.
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about one major theme that is often overlooked in the Western church: dealing with grief and loss. Drawing parallels with the story of Job, this message highlights that just as Job lost everything almost instantly, we too, throughout our lifetimes, will face various losses—whether it's through unexpected death, illness, broken relationships, or shattered dreams. "We are just frail plastic containers, clay pots, but in us is the presence and power of the resurrected Christ." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about how to journey through the toughest challenges we face in life. "Our faith is not in our love for Jesus; our faith is In Jesus' love for us." - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our Teaching and Creative Pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our series called "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality". Today, he talks about how God's choice to birth you into the family you grow up in actually has a huge influence on your discipleship as a follower of Jesus Christ. The big idea in this message is that a deeper walk with Jesus Christ requires all of us to "go back in order to go forward."
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about discarding our old, false selves and embracing the new nature that comes with accepting Jesus. Being genuine in our relationship with Jesus is so vital. We all should be striving to shed our false selves, reject the roles others have scripted for us, and listen to the unique calling Jesus has placed in our hearts. "True freedom is found when the Son sets us free!" - Pastor Jeff Ellis
We're blessed to hear from our senior pastor, Jeff Ellis, this morning as he brings us a message about the connection between our spiritual health and our emotional maturity. Emotional health and spiritual maturity are deeply connected. Just knowing scripture or about Jesus is not enough; true spiritual growth requires a deep understanding and acceptance of oneself, including addressing emotional issues like anger, sadness, and fear."Emotional health and spiritual maturity are linked; it’s impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature." - Pastor Jeff Ellis

We're blessed to hear from our Teaching & Creative pastor, Brant Cole, this morning as he brings us a message in our series through the book of Judges, called "God To The Rescue". Today, he talks about the human tendency to view God as a transactional being, ready to make deals and bargains. He’s not like us: predictable and petty. He is much more infinite and much more intimate. So the encouragement is to "let God rewrite your story instead of just using him to get to the next chapter."

Moses is arguably one of the most significant figures in the entire Bible: Author of the Torah Mouthpiece of God Leader of God's people And synonymous with God's law Yet he was just an ordinary man.
Everything we see in Scripture about Moses is merely the story of God’s power on display through his faithfulness in the ordinary moments. Hebrews 11:27 says that “he kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.”
Moses: Ordinary man; extraordinary God.
We'd love for you to join us at church as we are in a new collection of messages on the amazing story of Moses, the man of God.

Chances are just as good that you haven’t heard many messages from Obadiah, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John, or Jude. Why? Because they have only one chapter and don’t often fit into the typical sermon series or Bible studies that you may be used to.
You could say they’re "One Hit Wonders"…

We'd love for you to join us at church as we are launching into our collection of messages on the upside down Kingdom that Jesus is famous for preaching about. It's a series we're calling "Flipped".
Jesus preached a kingdom that is so different from ours. Some say it is upside down... or you could say it's FLIPPED. This week we peek into Jesus' teachings on human relationships. We're going to see that "relationships fail where forgiveness is withheld."

Jesus has a way of taking what we thought we knew about this world and totally flipping it upside down. The way we see it, one thing often indicate another. But in God's kingdom, things aren't often as they seem. Jesus is often quoted saying, "You've heard it said __________, but I say unto you..."

Once a year, our church (which meets in 3 locations) gathers in Walloon Lake to worship together and celebrate all that God has done in our 3 campuses. We can't wait for one of our favorite events of the year! Come on in and join us!
Have you ever noticed how much children believe and how little they fear? A child has so little fear because they don’t yet know how to project future possibilities into their current thought process. All they know is to remember what’s happened before and make decisions based on that.
And this is the secret - it’s the difference between fear and faith, between the sane and the insane, between the realistic and the irrational - fear is based on what might happen; faith is based on what has already happened.
In our miniseries about the sanity of insane faith, pastor Brant Cole talks about faith which says that impossible is right where God begins to be visible. Faith says that God is always faithful, even when the promise seems insane. And so "when my faith comes to be tested, you’ll see that God can be trusted."

In our miniseries about the sanity of insane faith, pastor Brant Cole talks about how the faith of believers isn’t based on hopes and dreams that they want God to make happen for them; their faith is fixed on the promises given to them by a God who has proven himself faithful over and over again.
In other words, "faith isn’t holding onto my hopes; faith is pursuing God’s promises."
We're excited to welcome guest speaker, Jeff Totten, to speak to us today! Jeff is the chaplain for the Detroit Tigers and is a longtime friend of our church. He is one of the missionaries that we support, and it is a pleasure to welcome him here each year.
As the phrase goes: "A new year's resolution goes in one year, and out the other!" If it's actually harder than we realize, how do we see something truly new this coming year? This is what pastor Jeff will speak about in this morning's service.
Never forget that Jesus loves you! He has a plan and a purpose for you and for this church. He is the God of fresh starts, do overs, and new beginnings! And Jesus is the one who asks us to join him in the new year.
Everywhere, festive lights illuminate the streets, the fragrance of pine and cinnamon fills the air, and for several weeks, Christmas carols have returned to the radio. Each of these traditions seems more memorable than the last, but it’s easy to forget what this season is all about.
Are you looking for peace? Are you in need of shalom? Feeling desperate for holy calmness? Then you need to know this Messiah, the Prince of Peace. Why? Because this Prince is the sole Source of peace!
Everywhere, festive lights illuminate the streets, the fragrance of pine and cinnamon fills the air, and for several weeks, Christmas carols have returned to the radio. Each of these traditions seems more memorable than the last, but it’s easy to forget what this season is all about.
During “Christmas In Walloon,” we slow down to celebrate what this time of year is all about. And this week, pastor Jeff Ellis talks about the biggest reasons to worship the baby in the manger, the newborn King.

Everyone who has been redeemed by Jesus is gifted! God himself chose your gifts, abilities, and talents! The Holy Spirit - the third person of the Trinity - has personally picked the gifts that he knows are right for you! Our duty is to "get in the game" and use these gifts.
This is week 3 of our Vision series and today Pastor Jeff Ellis talks about our strategy to move forward into our God-given purpose. Satan wants us to believe: "You don't need anybody else; you're fine on your own." This is a lie because God created us with a need for Jesus and with a need for each other.
As we continue with our Vision series today, Pastor Jeff Ellis talks about the first few steps in our strategy to move forward into our God-given purpose.
Our church is now 123 years old. And over the years we’ve done a lot, seen a lot, and changed a lot. But we haven’t survived this long - and got to point we are today - on accident. And so today, Pastor Brant Cole talks about the values that have shaped us into who we are today and the kind of impact we’ve been able to have. Our church’s values and strategy are kind of like a map to our purpose. And it’s hard to know how to go forward if you don’t have an orientation of where you are and what got you there. So today, we're looking at the core values that, when we are intentional to live by, will lead us into establishing a culture here in our church that reflects the glory and goodness of God to a world that is looking on.
Of all the things that Jesus ever said, some of his most quoted statements are found in the Sermon on the Mount. As we look at the 8th and final blessing today, we see that "people will chase after us when we're chasing after Jesus."
Of all the things that Jesus ever said, some of his most quoted statements are found in the Sermon on the Mount. As we look at the 7th blessing today, we discover that "peace doesn't happen passively; we must wage peace purposefully."

Of all the things that Jesus ever said, some of his most quoted statements are found in the Sermon on the Mount. And while these beautiful statements may seem simple on the surface, there is a deep richness and beauty in them that is more profound than we initially realize. As we look at the fourth blessing today, we discover that "God loves it when we're filled with his Son instead of the world's scum."

Pastor John Jones is talking about how we were created for connection. But here's the catch: we were created for connection, but shift toward separation. You see, everybody needs God, everybody needs somebody, but somebody needs you. You have a story, and your story has power.

As we look at Jesus' call to follow him, we'll be seeing the importance of an all-in commitment! In fact, "it’s impossible to let go and to trust God if you’re living for yourself."

Pastor Jeff Ellis continues our series about discovering joy in every season of life. As we study the book of Philippians, we’ll see how our identity as citizens of heaven changes how we live on this earth! Citizens of heaven aren’t stuck in the present; they see more than this moment and look to God’s presence. In fact, citizens of heaven should live as strangers just passing through this journey of life.
Pastor Jeff Ellis continues our series about discovering joy in every season of life. As we study the book of Philippians, we’ll see how sometimes God uses ordinary people for extraordinary purposes! So, ordinary you: jump in and take some risks! Your efforts might just have extraordinary results!

Stress can seriously affect us. What can we do to keep from breaking under its pressure? “If your internal strength is greater than the external pressure, you can overcome.”

During these trying times, we look at a group of exiles whose faith was tested again and again. Through their example we can learn how God can use us when our faith is in the fire.

What's the best Bible translation? Should I homeschool or send my kids to a private or public school? Is it okay to listen to country music, rap, and rock, or should I only listen to hymns or worship music? Life is full of non-sin issues where the Bible leaves room for a difference of opinion and a difference of conviction. So, how can we avoid ugly arguments with those we disagree with?
Why do bad things still happen when we are striving to live obediently and daily work at making Jesus the priority of my life? Why do people who don't care about Jesus and are living far from God seem to be living a good and happy life? God's Word has wisdom to share with us when we feel life isn't fair!
We all are in the same storm, but we are also in different boats. This pandemic has affected us all, but in different ways. As followers of Jesus we need to seek to understand and love others instead of following our natural instinct to judge others. What story will you tell your people about this storm when it's over?
We often see traits in others easier than we see them in ourselves. In John's Gospel there are many people with character traits that we can probably relate to. Where do you see these character traits in your life?

Around the whole world, across the span of centuries, among every season, the church has remained... the church has thrived... the church has mattered.
But why? Let’s talk about it.
During the month of February, we’re so excited to start a brand new sermon series called WHY CHURCH MATTERS.

What a blessing to hear from Chalk Artist Matthew Bowman! “Are You a Go-Getter or a Deadbeat?”
It was such a delight to have Jeff Totten, the chaplain of the Detroit Tigers, speaking on being a follower of Jesus. Are you a follower of Jesus? If so, how closely are you following him?
There are literally loads and loads of Christians who believe that only a special few are going to get into heaven BECAUSE only a few can live right for God... That’s not good news!
When we project this belief, we’ve just turned the good news of the gospel into below average news that has NO POWER TO SAVE ANYONE! The power to do right is not in your will power; the power to do right is when you let go, and say “I can’t, but I accept what Jesus has done on my behalf.” And what will enter into your soul is a supernatural energy to do and live in a way you otherwise could not.
Here's the truth: the KEY to an uncommon life is understanding righteousness.

In this world, the big idea is to worker harder and stay longer so that you can get more. The hope is that, by doing this, you will experience more of this life than those who don't. According to this world, this is good wisdom.
But what if that is totally backwards? What if God sees things completely different? What if life isn't all about how many things you accomplish or how much stuff you have? Jesus said, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."
WI$DOM: Let's start using our resources God's way.

There are so many things that we experience under the sun. In the absence of something very significant, they all become meaningless... Testing? Meaningless. Time? Meaningless. Judgments? Meaningless. Money? Meaningless. Afflictions? Meaningless. Priorities? Meaningless. Under the sun, these things lack meaning. But there is something that isn't found under the sun that is necessary to bring meaning to everything.
