Philosophy of care: Requiring a visit to a neurosurgeon or undergoing a neurosurgical operation can be one of the most frightening and life-changing experiences a person will ever have. Placing myself in the patient's shoes is the most important thing I can do to provide the best advice and care for any patient and family member with whom I interact. I believe in providing the safest and most effective care for my patients, founded on the principles of evidence-based medicine, research and the latest techniques available. My goal is to offer the safest and most effective surgical procedures for patients until we reach our goal of developing a cure for every subtype of malignant and benign brain tumor.

Today's Episode Dr. Raj meets with coach Jasmine Moezzi: a triathlete, an ironman certified coach, a certified nutritionist, and volunteer with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now).

About Coach Jasmine Coach Jasmine has always cared most about two things in life: creating community and helping others to the best of her ability. Growing up in the South Bay as a competitive figure skater and tennis player, she never discovered her true passion until joining the Triathlon Team at USC, where she graduated with a B.S. in Applied and Computational Mathematics. Without knowing how to swim or bike properly and having minimal running experience, she dedicated all her free time to training for her first triathlon. She originally started triathlon to help her cope with her chronic illness, but it ended up giving her so much more than she could have ever imagined. Fast forward 7 years and countless races later, she got her Ironman Coaching Certification and started coaching for multiple teams around the LA area. Having trained in the South Bay for the majority of her triathlon career, she realized a sense of community was greatly missing, so she decided to build her own team with the help of some athletes she had just started coaching in the area. She is now the proud Founder/President and Head Coach of the South Bay Squad, which has become far more than just her team, it’s her chosen family. For the past 6 years, she has been volunteering for Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN) LA, where they play sports with kids who have disabilities. She is a part of their coaches committee and teaches Zumba for the kids, parents, and volunteers. She has raised over $20k for KEEN by completing various races/challenges throughout the years, and now South Bay Squad will continue these fundraising efforts to raise as much money for the kids as possible. Being a mother of five has given Hala a unique expertise and skill set to help other parents in the medical field. After years of infertility, she found that balancing motherhood and a career in medicine was challenging. She frequently fought through fear, negative self-talk, and a recurring desire to quit her job in medicine, and she knew other mothers and physicians must have experienced the same struggles. She attributes having a solid support system and life coaching in helping her manage her thoughts and reaffirm her “why.” Links: Physician Moms Group Dr. Hala Sabry's Website Instagram Facebook Twitter   Want more healthcare related content? Her passion for health and overall well-being stems from my history of mental health issues such as an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, OCD, and an unhealthy relationship with food and myself. She believes that healthy food, physical activity, and meditation can be used to treat or minimize symptoms of any illness, both physical and mental. Life is too short and too beautiful to constantly go on diets, constantly battle with yourself and put yourself down internally, constantly be under stress, and constantly feel unhealthy and weak. Her goal is to help people learn to live their fullest life; that is, to live life to your fullest potential with a full and happy tummy helping you along the way!
