In this episode of Insights, we have with us Mr. Siddharth Sharma - Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Sons. Mr. Sharma shares how he began his career as a civil servant, the challenges he faced during his journey and how he overcame them to lead to several significant accomplishments. He also discusses how government jobs can be different than corporates jobs, activities that students can undertake to ensure success in a government career and things to keep in mind while transitioning from corporate to government, or vice-versa.   Mr. Sharma was a career civil servant for two and a half decades starting his career in October, 1992. During this period he held several important assignments in the Union Government including in the Ministries of Finance, External Affairs and Urban Development. His last assignment in government, prior to taking voluntary retirement and transitioning to the Tata Group as part of their leadership team, was as the Financial Advisor to the 13th and 14th Presidents of India (August 2012- December 2017). He joined the Tatas in early 2019 and has been the Group Chief Sustainability Officer since June, 2019 overseeing the environmental, social and governance imperatives of the Group.
