This guitar tune was composed by Dáithí for old friends in Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal. It was released on the all-instrumental album The Crow in the Sun, in 2007.

Composed for dear friends in Minnesota, The Roseville has many folks trying to figure out – just what is this? A slip jig, a reel, a slip reel? Altan recorded Dáithí’s composition on Local Ground first, then performed and recorded Fiachra Trench’s nimble arrangement with the RTÉ concert orchestra.
Since the early days of attending Irish College at Rann Na Feirste, and winning national championships with the St. Columb’s Irish Language Debating Team, Dáithí has been an avid Irish language speaker and scholar. Skara Brae (Tríona and Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill and Dáithí Sproule) reunited for its first-ever US tour in October of 2013, playing in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin; St. Paul, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington. While the music was rich and satisfying, it was poignant to work for the first time as a trio. Mícheál, you were deeply missed.
