Pastor Mike discusses how to read the Bible by using the Book of Job as a guide. He explains that since the Book of Job is believed to be the first book written, it can be a "decoder" for understanding the rest of the Bible through the questions it raises. Mike proposes that the Book of Job foreshadows three key questions that are answered throughout the Bible: Does God forgive sin? Is there a mediator? And, is there a resurrection? He argues that these questions, prompted by Job's suffering, lead readers to look for Jesus in every part of the Bible.

Pastor Mike discusses how to read the Old Testament with a sense of anticipation for Jesus as the Ultimate King and Messiah. He then presents an outline for the show, which includes looking at the need for a Messiah, examining potential false Messiahs, and finally, focusing on Jesus as the true Messiah. He uses Genesis 3 as a starting point, highlighting the sin of Adam and Eve and the subsequent need for a savior. Throughout the Old Testament, he points to figures like Cain, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Samson, and David, all of whom fail to be the promised Messiah because of their sins. Pastor Mike concludes by asserting that reading the Old Testament with this anticipation makes the arrival of Jesus in the New Testament all the more joyful, as he is the one who triumphs where others failed, ultimately fulfilling God's promises.

In an episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike introduces a concept he calls "alphabet theology," which involves thinking through God's attributes from A to Z to properly reframe problems. Mike emphasizes the importance of "gazing on the Lord" rather than problems. He focuses on three specific attributes based on the acronym MCG: God's might, His care, and His grace, using verses from 1 Peter chapter 5 to illustrate each point. He argues that a proper understanding of these attributes can help individuals humbly accept their circumstances, cast their anxieties on God, and trust in His provision, even when facing difficult situations like job loss, family illness, or death. He highlights that God is strong enough to sustain people through their trials and that He cares enough to do so.

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike discusses the theological concepts of “Law and Gospel” drawing on the works of Martin Luther and other theologians. Pastor Mike explains that the "law" represents a command, something you must “do”, and serves to show unbelievers their sin and need for a Savior. In contrast, the "gospel" is the good news of what has been “done” through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He argues that understanding this distinction is key to answering core Christian questions, such as "How do you know you're a Christian?" and "What is the essence of Christianity?". He emphasizes that the answers lie not in human actions (law), but in God's completed work through Jesus (gospel).

No-Co Radio host Pastor Mike Abendroth discusses the concept of "party spirits," or the tendency for Christians to believe that God only works within their specific theological group. He recounts a story from Luke 9:49, where John tells Jesus they tried to stop someone from casting out demons because "he does not follow with us". Mike uses this as a starting point to argue that Christians should rejoice when Christ is proclaimed, even by those with different theological views, such as those from Calvary Chapel or Arminian denominations. He admits that while he holds strong theological convictions—subscribing to the London Baptist Confession of 1689 and believing in the five points of Calvinism, for example—he believes it's important to show charity and kindness to other Christians.  Produced/Edited By: Marrio Escobar (Owner of D2L Productions)  Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/mx1jSvk8kxQ

Pastor Mike focuses on the dangers of mysticism within evangelicalism, which he considers a significant problem. Mike defines mysticism as receiving God's truth from internal, subjective sources like feelings, intuition, and personal revelations rather than from the external source of the Bible. He argues that human nature is totally depraved since Adam's fall, making internal impressions and feelings unreliable and untrustworthy. Mike champions the sufficiency and authority of Scripture, citing passages like 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and Psalm 19 to support the idea that the Bible is the only true guide for life and godliness.

In this episode of the No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike discusses spiritual traps, focusing specifically on pride. He argues that pride is a theological trap that is the antithesis of humility. Mike uses the example of Jesus's disciples arguing about who among them was the greatest after Jesus had just taught them about His own suffering and death. He contrasts this with Jesus's teachings on humility and service, citing examples like Jesus using a child as an object lesson for greatness and the ambition to please the Lord rather than to seek personal glory. He concludes by offering questions for self-reflection to help listeners identify pride in their own lives and encourages them to focus on Jesus as the "Great One".

In this episode of "No Compromise Radio," Pastor Mike discusses the Book of James and provides context for understanding its message. The main topic is how to read the Book of James, which Mike describes as being filled with over 50 imperatives or commands in about 100 verses. To help listeners understand the book, he explains its historical context, noting that it was likely the first New Testament book written, around 44-46 A.D., about 10-15 years after Jesus's resurrection. Mike explains that James is not a book to get salvation, but rather a guide for how Christians, saved by grace, should live in light of a resurrected Savior, calling this the "third use of the law".

In this podcast episode of "No Compromise Radio," host Mike Abendroth discusses the theological concept of "limited atonement," arguing that Jesus died only for the elect, not for every person ever born. He addresses common counterarguments, particularly interpretations of "world" in John 3:16 and "whole world" in 1 John 2:2, explaining that the term "world" in these contexts refers to humanity as a whole, including Gentiles, rather than every individual. Mike bases his primary argument for limited atonement on the Trinity, asserting that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit share a single will, and since the Father chooses only some for salvation, the Son's atonement must also be for that chosen group.

Mike emphasizes that Christians, as children of God and with Jesus as their high priest, can confidently approach God in prayer for mercy, grace, and help, even in their weaknesses and sins, because judgment for their sins occurred at Calvary.

Pastor Mike discusses the importance of encouragement, particularly through the lens of the Transfiguration of Jesus as described in the Bible. He explains that the Transfiguration served to encourage the disciples, future readers of the Bible, and even Jesus himself, by offering a glimpse of heavenly glory and affirming the worth of enduring suffering and self-denial for the sake of following Christ. Mike emphasizes that despite life's trials and difficulties, the ultimate glory awaiting believers in heaven makes all present struggles worthwhile. He concludes by encouraging listeners to find hope and encouragement in the person of Jesus and the promise of eternal glory.

He explores what "self-denial" truly means, citing theological perspectives from Matthew Henry, John Calvin, R.C.Sproul, and Sinclair Ferguson, clarifying that it's not self-hatred but rather a denial of the "me first" impulse.

He shares personal anecdotes about his own experiences as a father discussing these subjects with his son, contrasting it with his own upbringing where such conversations were absent. The episode stresses that while sexual sin is destructive, sexual expression within marriage is a blessed and joyful experience designed by God. In this podcast episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike discusses the topic of demons and demon possession, drawing heavily from Luke chapter 8, where Jesus encounters a man possessed by a "legion" of demons. Mike emphasizes Jesus's power over nature and supernatural beings, asserting that Christians cannot be demon-possessed due to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He refutes the idea of blaming personal sins like anxiety, lust, or drunkenness on demonic influence, attributing these instead to human flesh as described in Galatians 5. Mike also touches on where demons exert influence today, suggesting they infiltrate authority structures and promote false teachings, such as those forbidding marriage or certain foods, to gauge holiness. He concludes by reassuring listeners that Christians are protected from the evil one and should focus on Christ's power rather than fearing demonic forces.

With humor, personal anecdotes, and pastoral wisdom, Mike also explores how this framework impacts parenting, evangelism, and daily Christian living. If you've ever struggled with assurance or wondered how Law and Gospel function in your faith, this episode is a must-listen.

Pastor Mike Abendroth, Luke 7:18 ff. Doubt and Assurance, Part 2

View Details

Pastor Mike Abendroth continues the discussion on doubt and assurance, expanding on Jesus’ words in Luke 7. He contrasts the struggles of believers with the hardened rejection of the Pharisees, illustrating how self-righteousness blinds people to their need for salvation. Through an engaging mix of biblical teaching, personal reflections, and humor, Mike unpacks how Jesus responded to John the Baptist’s doubt with kindness and affirmation while condemning the obstinate unbelief of those who rejected both John and Jesus. He explores the parable of the "spoiled brats" who refuse to engage, whether in the somber call to repentance or the joyous call to grace, drawing parallels to modern-day skeptics. This episode serves as both an encouragement for Christians wrestling with assurance and a sobering reminder of the consequences of rejecting God's truth.

In this episode of “No Compromise Radio”, Pastor Mike Abendroth dives into the profound themes of doubt and assurance in the Christian faith, drawing from Luke 7 and other scripture. Mike examines John the Baptist's moment of doubt while imprisoned, exploring the distinction between doubt and unbelief and highlighting Jesus' compassionate response. Through a blend of theological insight and personal anecdotes, Mike reflects on the struggles believers face in reconciling trials with faith. He emphasizes the unshakable assurance found in Christ's redemption and reminds listeners that God’s grace triumphs even in moments of questioning. The episode also features a discussion on the metaphor of triumph in scripture, parallels with Roman celebrations, and the ultimate vindication found in Christ. With humor and authenticity, Mike encourages listeners to persevere in faith, leaning on God’s promises and enduring love.

Three Imputations (Part 3)!

View Details

threeimputations Today on NoCo, we listen in to the continuation of a message that Pastor Mike recently preached at Bethlehem Bible Church in West Boylston, MA on the three imputations from Romans 5:12-21 Pastor Mike preaches verse-by-verse, so please open up your Bible to Romans 5:12-21. By no personal fault of your own Adam sinned and God credits your account with that sin; and by no personal merit or work of your own Jesus Christ lives righteously and through faith alone credits His righteousness to you. For the definition of imputation turn to Philemon 18: If he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, charge that to my account. Imputation means to count it toward someone else (to credit it to someone else). This is important because this is the way God does things in the world-this is a Biblical truth. Three Biblical Imputations: 1. Adam's sin was imputed to all of his decedents 2.Christ, though not a sinner, has our sins credited to His account-this is the concept of substitution. Continued next week... (Click here for , )

Pastor Mike interviews his brother Pat Abendroth on today's show. Pat is the Senior Pastor of Omaha Bible Church in Omaha, Nebraska.  Listen in as they talk about a recent conference at Bethlehem Bible Church and a variety of other topics. Pat is originally from Omaha and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. It was during his time at UNL that Pat was converted and became a Christian. After earning his Masters degree from The Master's Seminary in Southern California and serving in two college pastorates, Pat came to Omaha Bible Church as Senior Pastor in 1998. Pat and his wife Molly met at UNL and were married in 1991. They have five children. Seeing Christ exalted and lives transformed through expository preaching is the driving pastoral passion for Pat. Beyond proclaiming Christ at Omaha Bible Church, it is a pleasure for Pat to be involved in training pastors in the U.S. and abroad. If you see Pat away from a pulpit, he will likely be either doing a flip on a wakeboard or peddling like mad training for a road race. It would be an understatement to say he enjoys both sports. Pat is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Ministry program at the Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies. See what’s going on in Pat’s Theology for Breakfast men’s group here.

Caught In God’s Net - [Luke 5:1-11]

View Details

Today on NoCo, we listen in to the continuation of a message that Pastor Mike recently preached at Bethlehem Bible Church in West Boylston, MA on the three imputations from Romans 5:12-21 Pastor Mike preaches verse-by-verse, so please open up your Bible to Romans 5:12-21. Adam's sin was imputed to all of his decedents .Christ, though not a sinner, has our sins credited to His account-this is the concept of substitution.

Remember some things as you listen. Only perfect people are allowed into Heaven. You undoubtedly have broken God's laws many thousands of times. Without a substitute taking on your punishment, you are doomed because you have earned Hell. Jesus became a man and perfectly obeyed God's laws. He then bore the wrath of the Father on the cross for sinful people and arose 3 days later. Repent of your sins today and trust in Christ as your representative to save you from the penalty of your sins. You don't deserve Heaven, but Jesus was kind enough to make a way for you to enter.

Pastor Mike interviews Stephen Nichols, author of Jesus Made in America. Here is a description of the book: Jesus is as American as baseball and apple pie. But how this came to be is a complex story--one that Stephen Nichols tells with care and ease. Beginning with the Puritans, he leads readers through the various cultural epochs of American history, showing at each stage how American notions of Jesus were shaped by the cultural sensibilities of the times, often with unfortunate results. Always fascinating and often humorous, Jesus Made in America offers a frank assessment of the story of Christianity in America, including the present. For those interested in the cultural implications of that story, this book is a must-read.

View Details

Today's show is divided into 2 parts. First, Pastor Mike quizzes Pastor Steve on Christmas traditions and legends from around the globe. Then, the guys talk about the importance of the incarnation.

No Compromise Radio-Always Biblical, Always Provocative, Always In That Order. Pastor Mike talks about funerals on today's episode. What do you do as a Christian when there is a death in the family? If someone dies that you know, or that you know the family of, what do you do? How do you rearrange your life in order to minister to their family? People are afraid of the dead. Pastor Mike gives advice on what to do during wakes and funerals. Do not leave your kids at home when you go to the wake or funeral. Death and experiencing death is a part of life. Go to the wake or funeral as a family. Death is a reminder and it helps make the lessons stick. On the way to the funeral coach you kids on what to say and do. Death is very ugly and gross. Sin entered the world because of the fall; and as a result there is death. It is okay and good to cry at a funeral. It is holy to feel sadness just as Jesus did. You need to preach the Gospel to your kids. Start early and show them what death is like. If there is a death you need to cancel what you are doing. Even though you are busy you are supposed to love others. Only Jesus Christ, only God, can take someone who is dead and say get up and they will get up; God has power over death. You cannot raise a body from the dead. When you look at the body, you need to be prepared to die. You need to have your sins forgiven. Our bodies will die, but our spirits will live on forever in bliss (Heaven) or torment (Hell). Go and love your neighbor as yourself. If there is a death in the church family you ought to drop everything and go. If in a public place give them a big hug and say, I love you. Scripture Mentioned In Episode: Ecclesiastes Romans 8 John 11 Romans 1 1 Thessalonians

Phil Johnson preached at BBC in 2019, listen into his sermon from Romans 3. Romans 3:19-26

19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
