Single Of The Week: Liquid Gold by Jacob Alon. This is a beautiful song from an album In Limerance released in 2025. Jacob first came to my attention in a performance on the Graham Norton show in February 2026, and after searching I found out about the album, which had been awarded the Critic Choice e Award in the 2026 Brit Awards. So, I managed to get a copy and so here it is. Another track from it will be played next week, but it’s an album that really need to be listened right through. The sort of talent up there with Perfume Genius and Anohni.

His music has ranged from indie, pop, classical, and now tribute albums, he has also done a re-creation of Judy Garlands’ Carnegie Hall concert. His voice and popularity are as strong as ever and I am proud to champion his work.

ALBUM Of The Week: Instead of single of the week I am nominating the soundtrack to the new Christmas movie, Christmas Karma, This is a reworking of the Charles Dickens novel, think A Christmas Carol meets Bollywood. The soundtrack is wonderful mix of Bollywood and London street music, including singers such as Pixie Lott, Boy George and Billy Porter. The ghosts of Christmas Past Present and Future are played by Eva Langoria, Boy George and Billy Porter, and the whole filming album is a sweet and beautiful tribute to the spirit of Christmas.

This UK musical act is fronted by Jamie McDermott, started in 2002, and has released music intermittently, The last single I remember was ‘Let Go (Everybody Move Your Body Listen to Your Heart)’, a hypnotic ‘I Feel Love-ish’ dance track type. But now comes this new album ‘Yo Homo’, which includes the track Be Wild. It is a grungy almost rock-ish album but with a strong rhythm feel to it. The Irrepressibles have always been a very out there rainbow act, and the videos reinforce this out and proud message. ‘Be Wild’ is a great lead-in to the album. Not for everyone perhaps, but it deserves its’ place in the pantheon of rainbow music.

Song Of The Week : It was hard to choose between the unreleased demo of the Pet Shop Boys song about Putin, or DC Larue’s recent remix of his 1976 latin groover O Ba Ba from the album The Tea Dance. But I eventually went for the Ladies From Mars remix of O Ba Ba. This simple but catchy track reminds me of a wonderful artist from gay music’s past, and it’s great to still have this artist around and sounding great in a spectacularly retro way. Love it to death. And I’ve got the original vinyl ! Camp as heck. Below is the original 1976 version.

From 5-6pm I will be playing some of our favourite Mardi Gras tunes, but by our own RAINBOW artists. So don’t forget to tune in and join the fun and festivities.

Tonight I’ll be playing 13 tracks to introduce the JOY live broadcast from the 2021 Mardi Gras from Sydney. The songs date from 1977 onwards and are beloved by the rainbow community, but you’ll notice a slight difference from the originals, in that now all have rainbow content.

I must admit I’m not the greatest or even a fan of Pink, but very occasionally she does a great song, and I love this ‘sad version’ of her song by the fabulous Fab The Duo from New York City. They have compared themselves to Sonny & Cher, but with 2 Chers, and I’m inclined to agree. They have wonderful voices and that touch of class.
