How do we live a beautiful life in the midst of a dying paradigm and while waiting for the emergent Story to be born. What practices can we count on? What can we learn from the indigenous worldview? What other sources of power are available to us that we struggle to access at this time? Join us as we get entangled with these questions.
We will speak with Laila Johnson and Gavain U'Prichard, creators of The World's Wake an old-time radio show style podcast that imagines a not-too-distant future in the United States in which things are very different from today. We'll speak about their creative process, the future they've imagined, and how The World's Wake might add to the conversation about these precarious times.
On this episode we speak with Tony Albrecht, attorney, entrepreneur, blogger, and co-founder of ACSAC, a support group for creative people.

In this episode we will explore Philip Shepherd's new book called Radical Wholeness that shows that the primary deficiency inflicted on us by our culture is the inability to feel wholeness--in the self, the body, and the world around us. Because we have been systematically trained to numb ourselves to wholeness and to confine our attention to the boundary of the self, we live in our heads, disconnected from the body and at odds with the world. We accept that it's normal to feel fragmented, reactionary, and stale. This book is a call to action to recover wholeness and to experience a new way of being. Philip Shepherd draws from neuroscience, anthropology, physics, art, and myth--as well as his extensive work as an international embodiment expert--to explain how our culture's limitations live in the body, and to help readers transcend them. The signs of our time shout! An entire planet raises an increasingly insistent voice, challenging our entire species in its conceit as supreme. Water is Earth’s prophet. Harvey and Irma mere punctuation. Nigeria and Bangladesh a deep warning and test. La Tuna and Santa Rosa the voice running silent and hot. We have hardly even begun to listen. Will we ever? The time is late.
On this episode we speak with Lonny Grafman, professor of Appropriate Technology at Humboldt State University in California, self-described Practivist, and President of the Appropedia Foundation, sharing knowledge to build rich, sustainable lives. We discuss sustainable design and entrepreneurship – from solar energy to improved cookstoves, from micro-hydro power to rainwater catchment, from earthen construction to plastic bottle schoolrooms--and how to support communities in becoming more resilient. We also discuss Lonny's forthcoming book on rainwater catchment, available at rainbook.org

The Enneagram is an incisive tool for self-knowing. It gets to the heart of our recurring patterns of thoughts, feelings, & behaviors – those things we repeatedly do, some of which we wish we didn’t. Our habits are so hard to drop precisely because they are conditioned into our survival strategies as children. Actually, we are all in a prison of our own making in the ways we suffer our personalities. Sometimes, we really think our habits ARE all of who we are, but actually, we are so much more. People can grow & change. But, we cannot change what we cannot understand, what we cannot see. Seeing what we habitually do as only a part of who we fully are, gives us a flexibility inside, that choice – the “freedom” – to put down the things that aren’t working, & expand. During this 9 Prisons One Key series, we will dive into one of these nine personal prisons every month, leaving you with the compassionate, continual reminder that it is us who holds the key to our own real freedom.
This week we speak with Scott Morris, alternative currencies expert and founder of Ithacash, a local digital currency utilized in Tompkins County, NY. We will discuss Ithaca Dollars as well as other local and crypto-currencies beginning to spring up around the world, and examine how new economic models can help support needed changes both locally and globally.
This week we will speak to Day Schildkret, a visual artist, educator, and creator of Morning Altars--impermanent earthen art mandalas. What began as a daily practice to process grief has transformed into a movement that has inspired thousands of people worldwide to create impermanent earth art. We will discuss the history and practice of Morning Altars, and what this practice might teach us about our approach to living in these times.
In his studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples, Dr. Weston Price formulated the dietary laws necessary for ensuring the health and vitality of our children, generation after generation. In this episode we will explore the wisdom of ancient traditions that provide a firm foundation for nutritional approaches that will nourish both mother and child with the intention of bringing up healthy children.

This week we will speak with visual artist Mary Mattingly, whose current project, Swale, is a floating food forest built atop a barge that travels to piers in New York City, offering educational programming and welcoming visitors to harvest herbs, fruits and vegetables for free. Swale strives to strengthen stewardship of public waterways and land, while working to shift policies that will increase the presence of edible perennial landscapes. We will speak with Mary about Swale and her other projects, her commitment to making non-violent art, and her perspective on what these times ask of us in our art-making and our living.
How might we learn how to Dwell in a Place, learn how to be part of the landscape, or learn how to see and feel in a whole new way? By learning how to dance, chant, and do ritual? To greet the ancient redwoods in our backyards every morning and hug the trees in the garden? To put our hands in the soil and try to learn the names of all the non-human beings we live with? All these take time. Slowness is key. Practicing presence is difficult for us in this modern culture. We are latecomers to this way of being and while we may still feel resistance sometimes, this may be the essential practice to undo our current cultural conditionings. Join us for this conversation on disengaging from the intellectual life that demands a loyalty to the faculty of reason with the body and emotions served only as side dishes on the menu of the canon and learn how to bring your whole self - body, mind, heart, spirit - into the only life you have to live, because when you do it changes everything.

In this episode we will be talking with Dr Frederique Apffel-Marglin the Director/Founder of the Sachamama Center for Biocultural Regeneration's INTEGRAL ECOLOGY Program in the Peruvian upper amazon which is a 6 to 8 week summer program. The program has two parts: where participants experientially learn to relate to the earth as a Being – a Thou – with many different aspects rather than as an insentient, mechanical, natural resource there exclusively for satisfying some human need. This program is focused on Integral Ecology in two senses: 1. In the sense where the moral forces of concern focus both on the environment and people, or in other words both on Nature and on Culture. 2. The term Integral Ecology is also used in a pedagogical sense in which the process of learning aims to integrate the mind with the heart, the spirit, the body and beyond the greater Earth body. Even in the 21st century, two-thirds of the world's peoples live in non-modern places. In such places the multitudinous voices of the spirits & deities of the other-than-human world continue to be heard, continue to be loved or feared or both, continue to accompany human beings in all their activities. In this episode, Apffel-Marglin draws on a lifetime of work with indigenous peoples of Peru & India to explore how the beliefs, values, & practices of such traditional peoples recognize that human beings are in communion with other beings in nature that have agency & are kinds of spiritual intelligences. Ritual is the medium for communicating, creating & working with the other-than-humans, who daily remind the humans that the world is not for humans' exclusive use. When such relationships are robust, human lifeways are rich & environmentally sustainable. The objective is to ''re-entangle'' humans in nature, by promoting a spirituality & ecology of belonging & connection to nature.
We are what we eat, but what are we eating? Katherine Reid, PhD biochemist takes us on an intriguing journey of diet changes that diminished her daughter’s autistic behaviors. She reveals an association between a common ingredient in the Western diet and many chronic illnesses that plague developed countries. Katherine tells the story that led to her founding Unblind My Mind, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people improve their health through improved diet. What will it take for things to end well? What will it take for our nation and culture to let go of the idea that we are entitled to ever-expanding life without death to feed and nourish it? Maybe we need a movement. A party not seeking votes, but a contraction.
So writes Andrew Gerber, founder of The American Death Party--the party of good endings, a project that pleads for a radical reorientation in how we both live and die. On this episode, we will discuss The American Death Party's foundations, Andrew's ongoing conversion of an abandoned tomato products factory into a residential and communal space, and much more. In the process, we're likely to meander into the territories of linguistics, belonging, grief, debt, and beauty. If all goes well, we won't be overly sure of ourselves.

These days find us standing at the edge of a cliff ecologically, socially, economically, and existentially. It is a precarious place to be; the risk of falling is real. But perhaps standing at the edge might also call forth something new: How clear must our seeing be, and how precise our attention, when standing on such ground? How do we carry ourselves, how do we move, and how do we speak? These times ask such questions of us. Revolutionary Wellness Talk Radio's Precipice Series aspires to stand at that edge—the edge of what we know, the edge of what we understand, the edge of what’s familiar—to see what conversations emerge from there. Hosted by Annie Levin, the Precipice series will invite guests willing to explore that terrain with us. They may be expert in certain things, but none of us are expert in navigating this time. So we will be wondering, out loud, together.
When Rochelle embarked on a gut healing journey for her family she had no clue that pastured animal fats would be a critical part of the healing experience. We have heard the lie for so long—that saturated animal fats are to blame for everything that ails us—that we accept it as truth without question. Whether you practice a paleo, vegetarian, or government-sanctioned MyPlate diet, your food choices are likely lashed to the dogma of lean meat, skinless chicken breasts and vegetable oils. Meanwhile, as the use of animal fats like butter, cream and lard has declined, and as the consumption of industrial seed oils has soared, Americans have suffered an epidemic of health problems: heart disease, cancer, autoimmune problems, digestive disorders and—most tragically—learning disabilities, behavior disorders and growth problems in our children. In this episode, Fallon Morell combs the historical literature, analyzes the science, and exposes the media propaganda campaign.
Roundup is by far the most used herbicide on the planet. The active ingredient is glyphosate. Roundup is the herbicide of choice because, so they claim, it is practically non-toxic to humans. For that reason it is also not regulated and there is little monitoring for its contamination in our food and water. In this interview, Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a senior research scientist at MIT, will explain to us how glyphosate wreaks havoc on physiological systems. Its effects are insidious and subtle, and the result is cumulative damage over years or even decades, eventually leading to devastating autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, autism, Alzheimer's, ALS, AIDS, etc. Dr. Seneff makes the bold claim that Roundup is the key reason why the U.S. is experiencing a crisis in health care costs today.

Bayo shares about his upcoming book, These Wilds Beyond our Fences: Letters to my Daughter on Humanity's Search for Home, his unschooled 3-year old daughter and his quest for his fatherhood, his wife and their decision to live an intimate life on the fringes. He shares about navigating the rough terrains of fatherhood, how he is re/un/learning what it means to be with their daughter Alethea (and the new one coming), and his prayer for the world that will be his daughter’s home when he is no longer around.
Will a radically different world that works for everyone ever happen? Will we ever find lasting wellness, and thrive in community, as it seems we are meant to? In this interview, our conversation grapples with the promise of social change, the repetitive cycle of sameness that stifles novelty and keeps us perpetuating familiar paradigms and patterns of behaviour. We ask, along with Bayo and the organization he started, ‘what if the way we respond to crisis is part of the crisis?’ Bayo shares about practices across the world that are opening up new places of power, inviting us to rekindle our alliances with place, with people, and with promise. He speaks about The Emergence Network, where most of his work is housed - and what he is hoping to do and already doing at this moment to invite; a politics of surprise, a post-activism that listens to grief, to bodily becomings, to nonhuman voices.
A particular intra-disciplinary ‘turn’ & refocus on the vibrant materiality of the world undoes human exceptionalism and resituates humans in a web of life that is not of their own making. This feminist flattening of things means it is now unthinkable to think of the world (or the self) in the very anthropocentric ways we are used to. This is frightening – the thought that we are not in control – but it opens up new kinds of hope & new spaces of power. Writer & speaker Bayo Akomolafe shares about his experience with Yoruba healers and their guerrilla cosmo-visions of a vibrant, material world & speaks about re/covery, intra-ruptions, crisis, & deep care...while couching all of this in the world of Trump, big oil, & climate change. Situating himself within this indigenous, deeply feminine perspective, he invites new ways of thinking about & making sense of ourselves, our futures, nature, our disenchantments with politics as usual, & the potential for living an abundant life.
We are born into powerful cultural & familial matrices that we are largely unaware of. We buy into these matrices without really giving these structures a second thought. We live our lives based on these imprints, perpetuate lasting neural pathways, & suffer the consequences personally & collectively in profound & dysfunctional ways. When we choose to step outside the collective & familial culture, develop deep awareness, new ways of being, & purposefully step onto a path that resonates with our own choosing & our own personal values we create what Registered Psychotherapist, Victoria Lorient-Faibish calls our own personal Self-Culture & Relationship-Culture. We then embark on the wonderful, life-affirming, healing journey that is our birthright. Find out what you have to let go of to sculpt your life by your own design. Create new neural pathways, and articulate your own Self-Culture preventing multi-generational dysfunction, & living a healthy & passionate Relationship-Culture.
Human Potentialist Susan Olesek, the founder of the Enneagram Prison Project, a California Non-profit project devoted to freeing the incarcerated from the prisons of their own making, is joining us in this fascinating episode to share with us what she means when she says, We are all in the prison of our own making, in the way that we suffer our own personalities. Many millions of members of our society have suffered trauma growing up in today's industrialized cultural structures and have grown up disembodied, disconnected, narcissistic, and co-dependent and we need a razor-sharp tool such as the Enneagram system combined with self-awareness practices to incisively extract us from self-sabotaging patterns. We don't ever get taught the power in learning how to stop long enough to become a third party witness of ourselves and the critical skills of self-awareness using the Enneagram system, somatic practices, & mindfulness meditation are essential for an empowered and meaningful life.
Our culture unfortunately perpetuates co-dependency, conformity, and disempowerment and these qualities will not be the ones that will lead us toward a future of the more beautiful world we know in our hearts is possible. In this episode, Rochelle and Les Jensen, the founder of New Human Living, will explore how you can cultivate personal sovereignty, agency, and authentic personal power by fulfilling the vision of your heart and soul. Even though we may be plugged-in 24/7 in today's technological age, research is showing that we are feeling more disconnected from ourselves and each other now more than ever before in the history of human kind. We all hunger for connection and we all hunger for intimacy and what could be more intimate than what we choose to put in our mouths at every meal? What we eat connects us in profound ways to nature, to each other, to life itself, and the more beautiful world we all know is possible and in this episode Rochelle will talk with professional chef and food activist, Jessica Prentice about how when we return to nourishing ourselves by real food grown by real people in our local communities we are becoming a kind of sacred activist and we are connecting to a tour de force that has the potential to change the world every single bite we take.
The world’s oceans are being exploited and polluted and many millions of us would rather not acknowledge it. The problem just seems too enormous for many of us to fully grasp and unfortunately we are all just so busy & distracted. The world could use an ocean-healing movement to inspire us to action, and here it is: Heirs To Our Oceans is: (1) a group of 10-13 year olds taking the ocean crisis into their own hands, (2) a global movement, and (3) a full-feature movie in-the-making. The kids refer to themselves as “Heirs” and they are hoping to inspire the next generation to learn deeply about how human impact is affecting our oceans, how the health of our water planet depends upon all of us recognizing how powerful we are as individuals, making essential lifestyle changes, living a value-driven life, and coming together in small communities at first to motivate policy change. A few of the Heirs are with us to discuss the Heirs To Our Oceans’ mission and vision. Prepare to be inspired!
Earth’s soil is alive, very alive in fact. One tablespoon of soil contains more than one million living organisms, and yes, every single one of those organisms is eating. Clearly soil isn’t just dirt. A square meter of topsoil can contain a thousand different species of animals. Our soil isn’t a thing, it is a million things, and it is alive. When we firmly root ourselves into the cycle of Life itself, we begin a healing journey and in this episode we will explore the profound significance of establishing our rightful place in Nature and how every single one of us is essential to the process of regenerating our lands for generations to come.
Rochelle will be talking with grassland steward, land and habitat regenerator, naturalist, and permaculturalist, Doniga Markegard about how when we come home to our deepest truth that is Nature, we will find our way back to what is most meaningful, useful, necessary, and come into alignment with what is called for now in these uncertain times.
Human beings are arguably the most creative beings on the planet. You are a powerful manifestor of your reality and the present moment holds within it your infinite potential. Your attitude, your level of awareness, & your intention matters. In this episode Rochelle & Intentional Creativity Artist Asia Morgenthaler will discuss the significance of creating with a specific intention & will explore a variety of entry points to access your unique genius that is waiting to be revealed. Intentional Creativity is a practice of creating with intention, of healing, and connecting with your inner wisdom. The canvas of your life becomes a playground or portal where you bring your stories into physical form. You can transform those stories & create new possibilities. The use of art, musings, & symbols will be explored to help you access places deep within you with the intention that you become the author of the life your heart deeply longs for.
The future is uncertain and our world's children face multiple global crises. One thing is definite; the level of consciousness that created the status quo will not be the consciousness to move us forward from it, and the time is ripe to move firmly away from conveyor-belt education. New learning models built on autonomy, mastery and purpose are showing up in revolutionary form. Knowing who you are and what you want in life –and especially embracing the conviction that both matter and are within your control– are essential for deep learning, and real happiness. Self-education is a key to self-empowerment. In this episode, we will consult with alternative education activist, Lisa Betts-LaCroix about the burgeoning movement of outside-the-box educational models that are becoming increasingly available to learners everywhere. Prepare to be inspired!
We are, in general, starved for love in today’s world. This is not about romantic love although that is true as well. We are starved for a deep, abiding, unconditional love for ourselves, for humanity, and for life itself. We receive very misguided messages about what love really is and rarely experience love unconditionally.
Poetry has the potential to be a powerful healing balm for your being and for your heart on many levels. Poetry has the ability to cultivate spaciousness of mind and can open the heart in profound ways, and yet so often we are not exposed to poetry over the course of our lives. We are not taught how to relate to poetry or how to access poetry's healing potential.
Poetry intimately connects us with the deepest conditions of human experience and in this episode we will consult with San Mateo County Poet Laureate Lisa Rosenberg about this rich and genuinely healing art, and how you too can apply poetry as a nourishing balm for those wounded places in your own dear heart.
Through a fascinating journey into the sacred female body, Dr. Page articulates the shear significance of self love and self respect, offering simple yet profound rituals and routines which all women can cultivate and experience to bring fertility, creativity, and healing to their body and soul with the intention of fulfilling their destiny as Sacred Women.

Dr. Page reminds women to reconnect to the potent and creative energy of Mother Earth, which gives power to the intuitive voice of the heart and nurtures new seeds of inspiration and enlightenment through the womb.

As much as 90 percent of the cells in and on the human body are actually NOT human! More than 1000 different microbial species live in and on us and they hold the key to human health. We are not what we have been taught, each of us is a human superorganism -Dietert, 2016. Yet over the past century we have significantly reduced the power of our microbiome due to our modern industrialized ways and in doing so we have sparked an epidemic of disease all across the globe. It may behoove us to begin to learn how to be fierce stewards of our own unique human superorganism, to honor and support the diversity that is meant to be our birthright and according to Dr. Rodney Dietert, is the best path to a healthy life is through recognizing that profound truth.
