Main Idea:
In a spiritual world growing in spiritual interest, it’s important for Christians to understand how to be rooted. We are to “test the spirits” and to experience good spirituality through the lens of confessing Christ.

Challenge:
Do you routinely test the spirits, or are you too lenient about what enters your “spiritual gaze?” When was the last time you rejected something for not aligning with Christ?

Elements of Rooted Spirituality
1. Spiritual Discernment (Test the Spirits)
2. Spiritual Division (The Jesus Test)
3. Spiritual Dominion (I Overcome)

Main Idea:
One particular plot of ground on Mount Moriah is the site of three significant acts of sacrifice and substitution.

Challenge:
How does the Lord meet us in a moment of anguish and provide a merciful act of provision? How do we see the sovereign hand of God at work as He orchestrates so much on a single plot of ground?

Three Connected Altars at One Location:
1. The Threshing Floor
2. Mount Moriah
3. Golgotha

Preached by Pastor Jared Kress on 7/19/26.

Main Idea:
We love the God of grace, but do we love the God of justice? True worship means praising God for all of who He is—both His mercy and His holiness. The cross of Jesus is the ultimate intersection where God's perfect justice and His infinite grace meet.

Challenge:
Do you love the God of justice? Acknowledge the cry for justice in your own heart. Realize that your personal need for grace and the world’s need for justice are both answered at the cross of Christ.

  1. Ahab and a Covetous Attitude (1 Kings 21:1–4)
  2. Naboth and a Conscientious Perspective (1 Kings 21:3)
  3. Jezebel and a Corrupt Coverup (1 Kings 21:5–16)
  4. Elijah and a Confrontational Prophecy (1 Kings 21:17–24)
  5. God and a Compensation of Justice (2 Kings 9)

Main Idea:
One of the strongest measures of character is how you treat those who cannot personally benefit you. When David became King, it would have been culturally acceptable to kill Mephibosheth, but he did the exact opposite.

Challenge:
How do you treat those who cannot directly benefit you? How far would you go to keep a promise? How do we see the gospel in Mephibosheth’s story?

King David....
1. Seeks Someone to Shelter
2. Extends an Elaborate Offer
3. Discerns a Difficult Dilemma

The bronze serpent in the wilderness was originally a powerful symbol of salvation, but over time it became an idol unto itself that needed to be destroyed. Yet Jesus does not minimize the bronze serpent's original intent but rather preaches it accurately.

How do we allow good things to become idols in our lives? In what areas do we seek the gift of God over God Himself?

The Story Arc of the Bronze Serpent in Scripture:
1. Original: Look and Live
2. Perversion: Offerings to Nehushtan
3. Reclaiming: The Exalted Son

Main Idea:
The movement of Joseph’s bones speaks to his own faith in God’s promise, as well as to the multi-generational obedience of many people. His bones, which could have been an inconvenience, served as an anchor to the past and a beacon for the future.

Challenge:
What is something you look at that reminds you of God’s faithfulness? What anchors you to the past, and what gives you hope for the future?

The Bones of Joseph Testified in Three Ways, in Three Times:
1. How We Got Here (Egypt)
2. We Can’t Stay Here (Wilderness)
3. God Brought Us Here (Promised Land)

Main Idea:
In a last-minute, desperate move on the brink of battle, King Saul consults a pagan medium to speak with Samuel one last time.

Challenge:
You cannot shoehorn a godly legacy into a last-ditch moment, especially by taking shortcuts. Live out a routine, faithful, daily pursuit of The Lord, and trust Him with your life.

In King Saul’s desperate final hours, he offers a template for a failed leader:
1. Misplaced Fears
2. Destroyed Spiritual Infrastructure
3. A Double Life
4. Flippant Spirituality
5. Grand Last Minute Gestures

Main Idea:
A crowd of consumers follows Jesus for what He gives, but the twelve stay because of who He is. True discipleship is rooted in enduring relationships, not in miracles or crowds, especially when the bread runs out, and the teaching gets tough.

Challenge:
Are you following Jesus for the free bread, or are you following Him because He is the Bread of Life?

4 Ways Jesus Cares for His Core 12 Disciples:
1. Cares for the Core in the Crowd
2. Covers the Core in the Chaos
3. Challenges the Crowd for Contrast
4. A Choice for the Core to Confirm

True kingdom longevity is achieved only when the older generation is willing to give up the coat and the younger generation is willing to accept it and burn the plow.

Challenge:
Are you willing to surrender what defines you to ensure God’s work outlasts you?

Two Necessary Steps for the Generational Handoff
1. Cast the Coat (Challenge to the Seasoned Leader)
2. Burn the Plow (Challenge to the Rising Follower)

There is a constant pull in our lives to trade living for Christ for living for ourselves. May we recognize that the greatest joy, fulfillment, and impact come from building on Christ and His work.

Main Idea:
Don’t worry about being pre-mil, post-mil, or a-mil until you understand what the Kingdom of God actually is. Jesus spoke often about the Kingdom, so we should do our best to understand what the Bible says about it.

Challenge:
What changes in our lives today when we acknowledge the present reality of the Kingdom?

Scripture Affirms Two Kingdom Realities:
1. The Kingdom Has Been Inaugurated
1. A Herald
2. Jesus’ Own Words
3. Disarmed the Demonic
4. Kingdom Entry: New Birth
5. Kingdom Living: Wheat & Weeds

Main Idea:
Tribulation is difficult, but it is a momentary affliction compared to the eternity that awaits believers in the blessed presence of God. One day, we will trade our dirty garments for white robes and enter into the eternal protection and care of the Good Shepherd.

Challenge:
How does knowing about the protective care of God that awaits us affect how we live today?

Three poetically ironic ways that Christ cares for us:
1. Washed White by Blood
2. Sheltered by a Living Tabernacle
3. Shepherded by a Lamb

Challenge:
How can you rest in the assurance of God’s spiritual seal upon your life? How does this seal give you greater confidence in facing trials?

Four truths about those sealed in Revelation 7:
1. The Sealed are Secured
2. The Sealed are Specified

Challenge:
What value do you place on living for Christ regardless of the cost?

As the fifth seal is broken, we see:
1. Those Slain for Word and Witness
2. The Cry for Virtuous Vindication
3. The Response of Pledge and Patience

The Lamb begins to open the scroll’s seals, revealing His intent to bring broad judgment upon the earth through the four horsemen. The believer, however, is encouraged to know that their suffering is not random but serves a greater purpose within God’s plan.

Challenge:
Do you see the suffering and judgment of this world as from the Lord’s throne, or as a random series of chaotic events?

Four Agents of Judgment:
1. White Horse: Conquest
2. Red Horse: War
3. Black Horse: Economics
4. Pale Horse: Pestilence

Text: Psalm 98

Main Idea:
Biblical worship is the antidote to a passionless, numb, weary soul. Our passion and joy are connected to our worship.

Do you live a life of passion and joy that is founded in worship?

Music is an incredibly powerful force that can be used for good or evil, and it is a unique instrument in the worship of God. Today, we will examine the inescapability of music in our universe, its power, and how it can be used as God intended.

May we understand the power of music as a God-given tool, and commit to using it for His glory.

As we consider the inescapability of music in the universe, we see:
1. The Ubiquity of Music
1. Man’s Song
2. Nature’s Song
3. Angels’ Song
4. Jesus’ Song
5. God’s Song
2. The Power of Music:
1. Peace for Saul
2. Prophecy for Elisha
3. Prisoner’s Song
4. Permanent Praise

Preached by Jared Kress on Feb. 8 2026.

Main Idea:
Each era of worship throughout biblical and church history has something to celebrate and has contributed significantly to what we now enjoy as “blended worship.” Blended worship should not simply aim to find a middle ground between extreme styles, but instead involve curating the best lessons learned throughout history.

Challenge:
How can we learn from the best lessons and failures of history to have the most God-honoring approach to worship?

Eight Eras of Musical Worship
1. Personal & Priestly
2. Tambourines & Tabernacle
3. Psalms & Professionalism
4. Synagogue & Study
5. Christ & Creeds

Preached by Pastor Jared in his office on an inclement weather Sunday.

This week's Phony Family Proverb: "Self Care is My Path to Peace" (Psalm 46)

Main Idea While self-care is a helpful tool for maintenance, true and lasting peace is found only by making God our permanent refuge and centering our lives in His presence rather than in fleeting personal rituals.

The Challenge: Stop relying on "water bottle" self-care to save you from life’s storms and instead unashamedly point others toward the "River" of God’s presence by living with visible joy and persistent faith.

Parents raising children today are often met with strong judgment for disciplining their children. However, the Bible is clear that discipline is necessary and a sign of great love for our children.

Three Components of Biblical Discipline

2. Warning and Admonishment
3. Punishment

The Goal of Disciplining Children

Knowing God's will guides us to walk in a manner worthy of Him, and every Christian should desire to do so. Resist the temptation, throughout your life, to separate knowledge about God from actions for God. No church or Christian can claim to simply study God’s Word without “doing the Word.” Similarly, no church or Christian can build a healthy ministry and outreach apart from dependence on the knowledge of God revealed in His Word. What we understand about God should influence how we live and worship. Commit to seeking God’s will while walking worthy of Him, and you will grow in maturity.

Value 6: Prayerful Dependence
We adopt a mindset of dependence upon The Lord, manifested in a culture of prayer. We believe that prayer is not only commanded by The Lord as a spiritual discipline, but it is our joy to enter the throne of grace. We do not assume that God will bless our efforts apart from a holy, prayerful dependence upon Him.

Value 7: Generous Living
Generous living is at the heart of our faith because God gave His only Son. We believe Christians are called to be creators rather than consumers and as abundance flows from our productivity, we will be a blessing to others. We believe that generosity reveals trust in The Lord and always want to live with open hands that are quick to give. We are cheerful in giving away our time, our money, and our people in service to The Lord.

Value 4: Theological Depth
We challenge Christians to grow mature in their walk with Christ, believing that theological depth and biblical literacy will yield deeper worship, obedience to His commands, and abiding in Christ.

Value 5: Bold Application
We boldly apply the Word of God to the issues of the day and bring the truth to bear without fear of consequences. We are more concerned with how God views us than with how man views us. God’s Word is not meant to be read and studied in a vacuum, but rather practically applied in the real world.

Value 2: Kingdom ImpactJesus Christ is King and our labors in this world should contribute to the expanse of His Kingdom . We are committed to evangelism, discipleship, missions, and seeing Christ glorified in all the earth.

Value 3: Multigenerational FamilyWe are a church family made up of multiple generations of believers who love The Lord, love one another, and willingly lay down our individual preferences for each other. Because we believe the church is a family, we desire that like-minded believers would join us and experience the joy of belonging to the household of God. Our families contribute to the building up of the next generation; therefore, we invest in the spiritual health of our children and grandchildren, treating them as great blessing from God.

"For this reason I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." - Ephesians 3:14-21

"For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our wrongdoings from us.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our form;
He is mindful that we are nothing but dust." - Psalm 103:11-14

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." - Ephesians 6:10-13
