We are halfway there! The Preds are in a playoff spot despite some good games and some...not so great games. The real question though is what do we do about Saros. We love him, he's the best, but he's just been a different goalie this season. Askarov came up and played a couple games and even got a win. Is it time to bring him up as the full time backup next season?
Plus, what is going on in Toronto? They signed Nylander to the biggest contract in team history and essentially tied their future to the Core Four? Will this backfire on them or will it lead the way to Stanley Cups?

The Preds have embraced rebuild mode and well...it hurts to watch despite seeing some fun hockey. This is what the fans wanted, but did they realize what a rebuild really meant?

It's been a whirlwind weekend for the Preds. First up, we learn David Poile is retiring as GM and Barry Trotz is taking over come July. Will the team shine under Trotz or will it continue to be mediocre?
The NHL Trade Dealine is looming and the Preds have been in the mix, the big news being the blockbuster trade with Tampa for Tanner Jeannot. Will the Preds look at trading Ekholm and maybe even...Saros to rebuild the team?

Bruce Boudreau was fired from the Canucks in a less than stellar fashion from the Canucks on Monday after being behind the bench for only 14 months. The Canucks loss is another team's gain. The Preds would do good to take a look at the bench boss players and fans love and compare him against Hynes and his current system.
The Preds are on the outside looking in and despite a "competitive rebuild" and "embracing the youth movement", Hynes has done little to help the team become the team we know they can be. Do the Preds take a hard look at bringing in Bruce in the off-season or do we continue to flounder in middle as we have done for years now?

We are nearing the half-way point of the season. The Preds seem to be on a yo-yo as they keeping moving and back forth away from a wildcard spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, we also have the All-Star game approaching and Juuse Saros will be representing the Preds. Also, Eeli Tolvanen seems to be thriving with the Kraken. Excuse us while we go on a rant to the mishandling of Tolvanen in the Preds system.

The Preds played a shorter schedule thanks to Bridgestone arena being flooded by a major downtown water leak. Despite less games, we finally seem to be seeing some consistently. Defense lines are good, goalkeeping is good, and scoring is being spread out amongst all the forward lines, and we talk about the possibility of seeing Eeli Tolvanen (RIP) and Dante Fabbro being trade targets.

The Preds recently completed a home stand, grabbing nine out of 10 points. Has the team finally found their groove? We've seen Forsberg doing Forsberg things and players such as Roman Josi, Matt Duchene, and Nino Neiderreiter stepping up their games and new comers such as Jusso Parssinen making a big impact.

We are five more games into the season. The Preds started a five game road trip across western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. With an always strong Central Division, the Preds need to figure out their identity. We've seen line blenders almost each game and well known players such as Tolvanen, Carrier, Glass, and Fabbro getting scratched.
They embody the "Smashville" moniker, but as Edmonton proved the other night, skill and speed are what make championship teams these days. Can the Preds figure out their identity before it's too late and find themselves on the golf course in April?

The NHL 22-23 season has begun for the Predators. We are seven games and we only have two wins...but on a different continent. We go through the games as of Wednesday evening and discuss the most important thing on the agenda, the Preds getting whooped by the Avs. If we are bounced early, what does this mean for Forsberg, Hynes, and GMDP in the off-season?

We are into the final month of hockey and the Preds are poised to either make it or break it. A win over Ottawa should be a given and give them some help, but Dallas is hanging in there and it will come down to the wire.
Roman Josi should be the default Norris candidate at this point. He's having a recording breaking season not only team wise, but league wise as well. Does he get it or does the hockey world bestow it upon Cale Makar, who is second to Josi in every way this season?

The All-Star Game rosters, captains, and last men in have been selected there have been some...interesting omissions...specifically big name players such as Josi, Crosby, Marchand, and others. Should the NHL go back to the East vs West format and stop sending a player from each team?

It's been a busy few days of Covid-19 protocols for the league. The Preds were not spared and have had to call up both players and coaches from their AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals to fill in the gaps. Stepping back from covid though, it's also been a busy couple of weeks for the league as a whole.
Vancouver and Philadelphia hop aboard the coaching carousel, Arizona "forgets" to pay their taxes and almost get locked out of their stadium, and Anaheim's Trevor Zegras makes a great assist on a goal causing Torts to foam at the mouth and rant about kids on his grass and ruining hockey with their creative plays.

Forsberg is back from injury and is making up for lost time, scoring four goals Tuesday night against the Blue Jackets. What does this to do complicate his impending contract negotiations? Will GMDP be forced to sign him to a deal he doesn't want to give or does he risk letting Forsberg test the free agency waters and go somewhere else?
Also, the Preds release their navy Stadium Series jerseys to lackluster fanfare. It's an ugly jersey, but all Stadium Series jerseys have also been huge misses when compared to their Winter Classic counterparts. It's one of the few things Preds fans can agree on this season.

All eyes have been on the Chicago Blackhawks as news of a sexual assault coverup during 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs has rocked the league. Questions are being asked of the Blackhawks, the NHLPA, and the NHL itself as to how far this coverup went and what the response will be to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Also the Preds are a .500 hockey team! Josi, Forsberg, Duchene, and Johansen have stepped up in big ways and Tanner Jeannot is making himself a permanent fixture in Smashville. Also did you hear the news? Rinne is getting his number retired!

The Preds have been bounced from the playoffs despite giving the Hurricanes a run for the money to the surprise of everyone. The 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs have begun! Well, for everyone EXCEPT the North division. It's also bracket time for us here at MCG. The annual money puck bet is back and after looking at the brackets, it appears to be Matt and Daniel verses Kyle.
We go over the games, make our picks, and talk about the tire fire of a first game against Carolina. Here's hoping we make better line up decisions and play better overall against the Canes. Otherwise, this is going to a short run for the Preds.

Everyone loves a bit of magic, specially magic numbers. The Preds look to bring their magic number down from seven to zero so they can clinch a spot in the playoffs. Should they make it, and by all accounts they will, they have to get past a first round opponent of the Lightning, Panthers, or Hurricanes.
Hopefully with Saros and a bit of luck on their side, the Preds will withstand the challenge and make a deep run. After all, if the Blues can do it, why not the Preds? All you have to do is get in and then all bets are off.

The Preds have defied the odds. In just a few short weeks, they are now looking claim the final playoff spot in the Central Division and be playoff contenders. For this to happen, they have to hold off the Stars and Blackhawks who are looking for that final spot as well. The questions now become will they make it, who will they play, and how far do they go?
Should they fail to place or make an early exit, eyes will turn to the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft in Seattle and GMDP will have to figure out who he wants to protect and the team itself will have another offseason of wondering what could of been.

That's the song the Preds were singing just two weeks ago when the season seemed to a wash. Suddenly though, the Preds find themselves on six game win streak after beating Dallas on Tuesday night.
The question now becomes what does Poile do? Does he stand still and try to make the playoffs with the team as it, risking a first round exit against possible Tampa or Carolina or does he trim the fat and focus on the youth movement he teased us about as the season began?

Almost halfway through the season, the Preds will need a miracle to make the playoffs. Trade rumors abound Forsberg despite assurances from David Poile the franchise forward is not going to be traded. It's time for work to be done before the trade deadline though, as the Poile needs to accept this team is mediocre at best.
With injuries mounting, the youth movement is getting a chance to shine. The one good thing this season has finally brought us is Eeli Tolvanen. The Finnish wonder is making his worth known on the power play and showing he was worth the wait.

The Preds have spiraled out of control since our last episode. While getting a win against the Blue Jackets Saturday night, the Preds have hardly been exciting on the ice, going 3-5-0 in their last eight games. The offense has dried up and left the front office, the players, the coach, and the fans with a lot of soul searching to do.

This is a fast and furious season and every point matters. After taking one on the chin against Carolina, the Preds have been on a roller coaster ride starting with a penalty kill breakdown against Dallas, steadying themselves against Chicago and finally being manhandled by Tampa.

The 2021 NHL season has begun! It's a compressed 56 game season and every game is a playoff game. The divisions are different, there are new rules and protocols and a constantly rotating Taxi Squad. We'll take as long as the game we love can be played.
We have new faces in the Preds offense and defense this season as Poile pulled the trigger and sent players packing after last season. How does the team fare and where do they place in this mashed up Central Division? As long as they place 4th or better they'll make the playoffs and then anything can happen.

The First Round is almost done. Brackets are being busted and are we surprised by the results? Out in the West, Vegas easily takes Chicago. Colorado destroys Arizona. Dallas and Calgary are playing fisticuffs while Vancouver looks poised to take down the defending champs St. Louis.
Over in the East, Philadelphia and Montreal duke it out while Columbus gave it all they had in Game 1 alone against Tampa. New York looks to kick out Washington and Boston proved they weren't taking the Round Robin seriously, dispatching Carolina.

It's been a long five months, but we are back to work! The Stanley Cup Qualifiers are about to wrap up and teams have been dropping like crazy in upsets that were unthinkable earlier in the year.
The Preds were one of those teams, losing their series to the Coyotes and leaving us with the question of "What next?" for a team which rocketed to unprecedented heights and now just appears to not know what to do next.

We're in the middle of December and the Preds are struggling. Almost in last place in their division and outside of the playoffs looking in, people are starting to push towards a change in the coaching staff if the team's luck doesn't turn around.
We've already seen the Devils and Sharks release their coaches due to lackluster performances. It begs the question how much more patience does GMDP have left with his coach before a change is made?

If you had 6 million dollars, what would you do with it? You could buy a house, a car, or whatever your heart desires. For Kyle Turris and the Preds though, the question has yet to be answered as Turris has now been scratched for seven straight games. David Poile is behind Coach Laviolette on his decision, leaving us all wondering if this is the best use of the Preds own Six Million Dollar Man. Only time will tell what happens.

The First Round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is upon us! What a mess it has been. The Lightning, best team of the season and one of the best teams ever has taken a punch in the nose from the Blue Jackets and can't stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, the Penguins are hanging on for dear life against the Islanders, while over in the West, the Blues and Jets slug it out while the Sharks and Knights chirp each other and bring the hay-makers.
The guys go over each series, give their thoughts, review a little bit of stats, and talk about what they want to see not only from all these series, especially the Preds/Stars series. Dallas took first blood, but can the Preds survive. If they do, can they make it past Round Two? We'll find out!

The Washington Capitals are the Stanley Cup champions! It's was a glorious final, one for the record books, and one for the ages. We take care of some league news at the start, specifically around the Islanders with Lou cleaning house and the Blackhawks future when it comes to Crawford. Sad day in the Preds world. The boys got bounced in Game 7 of the second round to the Jets and start the off season early. Not the ending we hoped for at all. Look on the bright side though, we had a FANTASTIC regular season and it's something to be proud of!

Guys...the Second Round is almost done. The Preds forced the Jets to a Game 7, Thursday night in Smashville! WE. ARE. PUMPED! We go through the results of the second round and let us tell you, who thought Boston was going to lose to Tampa, let alone Marchand LICK people?! Our brackets are shot even more with the Capitals beating the Penguins finally and advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals in TWENTY years! Big news everyone! The show has gone weekly! With the playoffs getting deeper, we will be taking a look at the Western and Eastern conferences each week to keep you update with what's going on around the league! We get started with the Vegas/Sharks matchup and then flip over to discuss the Lightning/Bruins and the Caps/Pens.
The draft lottery was also held and the Sabres finally get their shot with the #1 overall draft pick for 2018. Will they make it count or bust it as they have done in the past with other high picks? And just like that boys and girls, Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs is over and done...well...we thought so until the Bruins couldn't close it out and allow the Leafs to force a Game 7. Will the Bruins be victorious or will the scrappy Leafs get Auston Matthews going and pull the upset?! Who knows! That's playoff hockey!

After some hard drive troubles earlier in the week, we've finally got our episode to you! We welcome our first guest, Taylor Welling to the show! He's a friend of Daniel's and he knows his hockey, especially since he used to play goalie! We take a few minutes to dig into why the Blackhawks fell off the map this season and do a quick cover over who is in, and who is out so far this season in the playoffs.
Since Taylor is a former goalie, we got his take on what exactly is "goaltender interference" from someone who has been between the pipes. Also, Tolvanen Watch has become a Tolvanen warning as he is in Smashville! Where does he fit in the lineup and should the Preds burn through a year on his ELC if proven the offensive powerhouse he was in the KHL? Wow, has it really been 20 episodes already?! It's been a fun ride and we're glad to have to you along. Things kick off with some car talk as Kyle got a new car over the weekend to replace his aging 350Z, but talk quickly flips to hockey as Alex Ovechkin hit 600 goals in the Caps game against the Jets earlier in the week. Oh, Marc-Andre Fleury hit 400 wins and Laine became 3rd all time in points by a teenager passing Gretzky.

The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone! So this means it's the Music City Gold trade episode! The guys hit the mics during the Preds/Jets game and talk about the trades the Preds made with the Oilers, Sharks, and the big trade with Chicago for Ryan Hartman! They also "try" to not get confused with the three way trade between Ottawa, Vegas, and Pittsburgh. It should be noted this trade was rejected once and even confused the insiders at one time due to how complicated it was.
Among the other trades discussed with the Jets/Blues trade after the Blues officially imploded on themselves and are now on the outside looking in on the playoffs. Finally they give their ideas on how the Western, Eastern, and Stanley Cup finals will shake out. By the way, the boys are 2-0 now when recording so this must be a thing. We aren't superstitious, but just a little stitious.

The boys hit the mics a few days early to bring you an episode so jam packed even Lavy would have to appreciate it. Did you know Seattle put down a TEN MILLION dollar down payment for an NHL expansion team?! Also, the NHL Player Safety committee has been handing down suspensions right and left. Are they correct? Will they take note of the ECHL fight between the Walleye and Mavericks?
Let's be honest though, the main thing we're happy about is Fisher is back. With the idea Tolvanen possibly coming to the NHL soon, could he play on a line with Fisher to learn the ropes from the man himself? Finally, did you read the Gallagher quotes after the Montreal game? If not, never fear because we have them and decide to forego the Top 5 this week to talk about the Blackhawks free fall from grace and the way their so called "fans" have responded.

The month of Filbruary is upon us! Forsberg is back and man has he made an impact since his return! The guys come around for another Saturday session the morning before the Rangers game. They go through the games, spend way to much time talking about the return of Mike Fisher and what this means not only for him, but also the impact on the line up. Who is the odd man out now that the perennial 3C is coming home?
They also discuss the most mind boggling question next to "What is a fair catch?" in the NFL, "What is goalie interference?" Turns out...no one knows and if the Bettman and the NHL know, they aren't telling. Finally, in honor of having to suffer through Mike Milbury for two games live on NHL on NBC, the guys pay homage to him with "The Top 5 Things I'd Rather Do Than Listen to Mike Milbury."

The Snowpocalypse of 2018 has come and gone! The guys were able to get out of their driveways finally and get recording. It's a jam packed episode as the Preds bye week meant they played less games. So along with covering the games they take a look at the Central standings, the newly released "hypothetical names" for the Seattle franchise and what having Seattle in the NHL means for league alignment, the Vegas Golden Knights and their friends at the Army, and do a quick run down of the top players recently put on IR.
