DESCRIPTION: Explanation of Automatic Fluency Law #4 The High Frequency Law of Language “You must first learn that 80% of all communication in a given language comes from only 20% of its words, and learn those words first”. Not all words in a given language are of equal “weight” and importance. English has over 171,000 words, most of which are never used. Low frequency words in English like “antidisestablishmentarianism” are almost never used and have no communicative value. A high frequency word like “house” is constantly used in daily conversation. Conclusion? Learn and use high frequency words and phrases and maximize your communicative ability in a minimum of time and effort.
