This episode was created by Grade 5 students to take action to make a difference in the lives of 1500 people in Nabuzzi, Uganda. These people do not have access to clean water. Together we have created a fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the struggles that millions of people go through everyday in the search for clean water. Our goal is to raise enough money to build a well which will supply water to the village of Nabuzzi. We hope you enjoy and are inspired to make a change in the world.

Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role playing game where the players play characters in a collective story, led by a Dungeon Master. In this episode, An An and Hai, two members of the DnD club in Hanoi International School, as well as the Dungeon Master Nguyen will talk about their experience with the game and why you should join the club!
This podcast is about our amazing performance in collaboration with the Ordinary Band and Plastic HIS. The performance took place at the auditorium on November 10th 2022. Our purpose was to spread awareness about plastic-related problems and how serious it is becoming. Our band had performed different songs and the Plastic Free HIS has helped us make quizzes that would spread awareness. By doing this we were able to give both entertainment and important information to our audience.
At the end of September, the school was closed for two professional development days led by Matthew Savage from the Mona Lisa Project. During his visit Matthew worked with staff and some select students, encouraging them to go on a 'spike hunt', and find ways to better facilitate for all at HIS through data and diversity, inclusion, equity and inclusion (DIEJ).

G12 took a very early bus up to Sapa with the Learning Project. Here are some snippets from students, staff including the owner of the homestay, Ms Chu. We hear from students cooking our evening meal, and constructing a shelter in the rain that will be 'stressed tested' with a bucket of water!
As a provocation for their Design unit, "Never too small to make a difference", G10 students visited two organisations that are 'Living the Learner Profile"- Refillables and The Green Gem. Here the students recount what they learned from the trip.

As part of their unit on architecture, G9 Design students paid a visit to the Hanoi Urban Planning centre next to the Hanoi Museum. They had a guided tour of the enormous scale models of the city past, present and the near future and also models of traditional Vietnamese architecture. Want to know more about the centre? Back on November 15, we (Thao, Thai, Yun, Jihye, and Yein from Grade 10) had our precious chance to have an interview with Natalia Perarita, whose specialty is in investigating the techniques of creating various types of products from discarded fashion materials. With our purpose of exploring ways to create products from old textiles, we decided to seek inspiration from her about her project and mottos.
A trip back in time to December 2021, a time of Covid and lockdown. That didn't stop us going on a virtual field trip to see Pham Duc (Dr Plastic) who presented and gave us a tour of his workshop online to our Design students. Here is the audio extract from that presentation which has many useful facts and figures that students could then use in their research project. This is a long show, so sit back and relax whilst we learn all about waste management and plastic recycling by a man passionate about the subject.
The wonderful Ms Grace Hudkins, our Drama lead and Head of Department reflects on the process and experiences of putting together the major spectacular Holiday Carol.
For today's episode on Radio HIS, Hai interviews the main star of the show Holiday Carol, Moss who played the main character Scrooge. We interviewed on the thoughts of the final production.
Luz asks the leaders of the Paint the Pain CCP, Euijoo, Nari and Hanhee, about the aims and perspectives of the world through art. The group can be found in the Art room every Thursday at 3pm.

This week's episode is about TOK. Have you ever heard the older students talk about TOK, but have no idea what it is? Ms Heather explains about how Theory of Knowledge can help you in your life and how to be a critical thinker.
A virtual field trip to Dr. Plastic's Pham Duc's Lighting workshop/studio. Duc takes us through different materials to recycle with a focus on the different types of plastic. He then takes us on a tour of his Precious Plastic inspired machines and explains how they can be used to create educational toys and just about anything else your imagination can conjure.

The Hill We Climb by Bona
This music contained the message of importance of unity and patience in optimistic tone. The speech I used for this music is ‘The hill we climb’ by Amanda Gorman. At the end of the music I put the quote from the speech,
“The new dawn blooms as we free it. For this is always light, if only we are brave enough to see it - if only we are brave enough to be it”.
This piece uses the spoken intro speech of Louis Armstrong’s 1967 song “What a Wonderful World”.
This entire piece was made from scratch, the melody, counter melody, bass, drums, etc. The only external source being samples taken from Louis Armstrong’s song.
The main message of this song is despite all the problems our world has, it is also filled with beautiful and wonderful things.
Meaningful Music
This piece features the vocals and non-vocals extracted from Close To You by The Carpenters. The speech is by Ted Mosby from the series How I Met Your Mother, it lies under the theme of love. The piece is a combination of Close To You original audio, instrumental and piano version of the song, acting as its non-vocals.
Pham Duc is a freelance recycler with a message! As part of their unit on waste, the great 10s were lucky enough to see Duc's presentation on Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and enjoy a virtual tour of his workshop.

Recorded at the Art Space at 42 Yet Kieu Street, Rosa and her Dad wander through Le Anh Quan's solo exhibition. Quan's art is brought to life with the use of 'mixed media', which consists of recycled plastic and glass. As part of the 'Lighting' Group of artists, Quan received a grant from UNESCO to exhibit but unfortunately Covid stopped play. Enjoy this solo while you can- the show continues until the 6th December.
