Today’s episode features Shahril Hamdan, UMNO Information Chief. We spoke about his party politics, running for a parliamentary seat, bipartisan efforts in Malaysia. Shahril pursued his Economics degree in University of Manchester and then continued with a Masters in Race, Ethnicity and Colonialism from the London School of Economics. Upon graduation he worked for YB Khairy Jamaluddin as a speech writer and then moved to a global management consulting firm McKinsey, before becoming the CEO of a midsized oil and gas servicing company. He is currently the General Partner of SX Capital, a venture capital firm. In politics, he was elected as the Deputy Umno Youth Chief and recently was appointed to the Supreme Council as UMNO’s Information Chief. He was also a candidate for the parliamentary seat in Kuala Langat in the previous general election, which he unfortunately lost, but we will be asking a lot of questions on the challenges of politics and his journey thus far.
