Karen Jeffries is a fourth grade dual language teacher outside of New York City. She does not consider herself a writer by trade, but she did write a hilarious book about infertility, which she has been sharing with her followers for years. Karen is infertile and funny! This combination is equal parts unlikely and spectacular. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and apply numerous layers of face cream, due to her recent realization that she is on the slippery slope to forty years old. More than anything, Karen hopes to help other women through their infertility treatments, one laugh at a time.

Karen grew up and continues to live outside NYC. She went to Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and Bank Street College for her masters degree in dual language and general education. Her hobbies include pilates, and horseback riding. Karen has over 60k followers on her different social media platforms with Instagram being her largest platform. Her book has sold world wide (where possible) and is still selling greatly. Karen is looking to do more speaking engagements. She recently did a Comedy Night event in NYC at West Side Comedy Club, which was a huge hit. There, Karen will performed her infertility based stand-up comedy routine, proceeds from ticket sales went to the Baby Quest Foundation, which is a charity that provides financial grants to patients going through infertility treatments in the United States. Karen is also on the board of the Baby Quest Foundation. She is preparing her next comedy event in Boston, which is on Sunday, November 10th at 7pm at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA the ticket proceeds go to Baby Quest Foundation and Resolve New England.

A CrossFit Coach since 2011 and a competitive CrossFit athlete, when Madeline became pregnant in 2014, she continued to do what felt familiar out of fear of losing her athleticism during this time. She was afraid that somehow she would lose all her strength and skill work she had put so many years into building. She continued to train hard during her pregnancy and when she returned postpartum, she was dead set to make a quick comeback to the competition floor.

During the birth of her son, however, she experienced a very significant perineal tear, leaving her with a pelvic floor that she would soon discover was not quite functioning as it should be. After a year of dealing with pelvic health symptoms and not finding answers, she decided to step away from the competitive atmosphere and find a way to heal.

This journey inspired her to become the coach for other women that she didn’t have for herself during her first pregnancy and made the decision to become a certified Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach. As a coach, she strives to help open the doors of long term athleticism for others, for women to understand that they are not alone through this season of their fitness journey and to be a valued resource for the pregnant and postpartum women in her community.

Madeline and her husband Joe live in Santa Clarita, CA and have two children, Jackson, 4, and Sloane, 1. Madeline serves women of the greater Los Angeles area and throughout the country and is also extremely passionate about shelter animal rescue/adoption.

Shanelle Kunz was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, shortly after marrying her husband, they spent 3 years traveling to different cities across the U.S. selling alarm systems door to door. In 2015, they decided to move to Phoenix, Arizona, plant some roots and start a family. With a sales opportunity they felt they couldn't pass up, off to Arizona they went. A year after they settled there, Shanelle got pregnant with her daughter and they bought their first home.

Her daughter was in some aspects a catalyst of growth for them. She brought in a whole new challenge factor but shortly after she was born, they started to really invest their money. They bought their first rental property in 2016, a second in 2017 and our third, which they turned into an airbnb in 2018. Shanelle and her husband also "flipped" 1 house in 2016 and 2 in 2017. All while marketing and selling for solar (semi)-full time. So that exponential growth, now in retrospect, all happened after her daughter was born. With that being said, they had a major pay raise that allowed them to reinvest into real estate but Shanelle believe that her daughter's birth was subconsciously a motivating factor as well.

When not tending their 2.5 year old and 6 month old, flipping homes or managing their AIRbnb; Shanelle does FB marketing and cold calls, to generate sales leads/appointments for her husband to go to.

Shanelle is also the Author of "manifesto" called The Empowered Work at Home Mama.

"I have been living in NYC for 20 years with quick stints in both LA and Miami. I have been in the design industry even since I moved to NYC. I have worked for major Interior firms such as Studio Sofield, Andre Balazs (the hotelier but worked on designing hotels for him in their design dept) Roman and Williams and GACHOT. When my ex husband left the country and my kids both emotionally and financially I was left to take care of my children and myself. I was having to travel so much for work, my kids were really struggling with their fathers abandonment, and financially it wasn't adding up with all the child care expenses. I knew I had to make a change in my career for my family. So much had happened that I figured "how could possibly one more thing go wrong" this had to work and I had to make this work somehow. So I left my job and started Jennifer Lordon Interiors. It will be 2 years in the spring since I opened the firm. I have been blessed that business has been great! However, it is a struggle juggling my business, my three children and their busy school and social lives. I am so fortunate to have my mom close by (lives in New Jersey) who helps with the kids (she takes them for the summer so i can focus solely on work) and I run back and forth to NJ and NYC during the summer months. I also have an amazing amazing group of friends and a (fabulous boyfriend) who help me whenever Im stuck in a bind and need that extra care for them."

Natalie Rios, is the Co-Director of little Lola & tots, an educational and cultural space offering open play and enrichment programming for children ages 0 - 4 years old. She is a single mother of two girls ages 4 years old and 7 months.

After graduating from the State University of New York at Albany with a B.A. in Psychology, she was captivated by education and worked as a pre-K teacher in both Albany and Yonkers, NY. Having dabbled into areas of Public Relations, Management and Event Planning, she took a position within the Career Management Center at Columbia Business School.

Upon having her first daughter, she quickly became engrossed by early childhood development and its importance. She left Columbia knowing she wanted to be an active caretaker and an invested teacher instead. She believes children are unique and imaginative individuals with an immense capacity for growth in the early stages of their lives.

She started a blog soon after having her first daughter, fueled by her parenting style and exposure to the world whether through travel or everyday experiences. Launching little Lola & tots was done with this in mind.

She created a business that would allow her to work for herself, with her daughter, in a stimulating environment where she would be able to thrive. Since delving head first into entrepreneurship, her family structure has significantly changed. While 7 weeks pregnant with her second daughter, her marriage disintegrated and she became a single mom in November of 2017.

In the year that passed, she learned rather quickly the importance of community while juggling a new business, a toddler and a pregnancy. Natalie is passionate about sharing her story and connecting with other women through inspiration which has allowed her the strength and resilience to keep moving forward.

Since graduating she found herself in the finance community. She spent most of her career at Goldman Sachs where she found her niche becoming a senior female leader and role model to other females in finance. She spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs and survived two maternity leaves (and a few market crashes in between). She joined a FinTech firm (founded by Goldman) to find a better work/life balance. On the side she’s a very active parent within the Park Slope Community. Shortly after the birth of each of her kids she single handedly formed new mom’s groups for each child as an outlet (each group used to meet once a week in prospect park). She now is head of her block association, FT mom and working professional who tries to be an active participant in both her career and personal life. Her and her husband, Andy, have been married for 15 years and have chosen Park Slope (Windsor Terrace) to raise their two boys (Alex who is now 10 and Evan who is now 8). She describes life as a “tug of war” – each day is a different balancing act.

Cara Zelas is an educator and kindness advocate from Sydney, Australia. Cara earned her Bachelor of Media and Bachelor of Education degrees from Macquarie University. She moved to New York in 2012 where she graduated with an Early Childhood Montessori (AMS) teaching certification from West Side Montessori School.

Soon after moving to New York City, Cara became active with The Good Dog Foundation along with her dog, Little Dude. Cara and Little Dude trained to be a therapy team in order to visit hospitals and schools throughout New York City, where they deliver kindness and support to those in need. Through this experience, Cara quickly discovered that children respond most positively to the kindness of dogs, which is how the Big World of Little Dude book series and the Kindness Education curriculum, was developed.

Today Cara lives in New York with her husband, health advocate Seth Ginsberg, her daughter Grace and Little Dude.

Nicole Radosti was born, raised, and still resides in Suffolk County, Long Island. She began her career for the New York City Department of Education 10 years ago. She has found success and absolutely loves her profession and craft. Nicole was recently nominated for The Big Apple Award for teaching, she is a writer and her work continues to get published in the New York Teacher. She has been a guest speaker for multiple teachers’ conferences as well.

Nicole attributes much of her success to her family and good friends, especially her husband Chris. They’ve been together for 16 years and married for five, now with two wonderful boys, Vincent 5 ½ and Giovanni 2 ½ . Nicole could not be prouder to see her two boys growing up right before her eyes. She feels truly blessed to have such healthy, happy, smart, curious, loving, and compassionate children. She is very proud of her and Chris’ parenting accomplishments and has learned to laugh and smile at their mistakes. Nicole enjoys to write, read, watch movies, draw, and coffee!! Nicole has just finished writing her first Novel, Taming the Dark and has received multiple offers from agents and editors to review her full manuscript!

Jamie also writes comedic shows for web series & TV and runs her families charity, The Alan Epstein “Reach for the Stars” Scholarship Foundation in honor of her brother Alan who passed away in a car accident in 1998. Annually, they give 10k to graduating seniors in high school who are in deep financial need. This charity also honors her parents who have also passed from cancer since it’s inception. Jamie now lives on the Upper West Side with her husband Shaun and her most important role to date is being a mama to two beautiful Boys, Zach 2.5 years old and Evan 3 months old.

But the most important part of her life is her family: her husband Matt (m. 2014), daughters Eleanor (b. 2015) and Margot (b. 2017), and two rescue dogs, Iggy and Lars. She spends every day trying to balance it all, never successfully does, but loves her life anyway.

Growing up in Campbellsburg, KY, Lindsey learned quickly that a sense of community is important, hard work is rewarding and farmers are the most generous and passionate people on the planet. In high school, she was active in FFA (Future Farmers of America) where she won the state public speaking contest speaking on agriculture and the importance of farms. Since then, she got an ag degree from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, she married a farm raised guy from Michigan and won the KY Farm Bureau state discussion meet discussing important topics for KY farmers. Lindsey works for Corteva Agriscience, Ag Division of DowDupont as District Sales Leader in the midsouth. She leads a team who promotes crop protection products in agriculture to enrich the lives of those who produce and those who consume, ensuring progress for generations to come.

Lindsey Palmer is a writer and educator. She is the author of novels Pretty in Ink, If We Lived Here, and the forthcoming Otherwise Engaged (to be published in January 2019). She worked for many years in the magazine industry, most recently as Features Editor at Self, and previously at Redbook and Glamour. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she earned a Master of Arts in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and taught A.P. Literature and Creative Writing at a public high school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Nowadays, she's a scriptwriter at BrainPOP, an educational site for kids. Her scripts cover a wide range of topics, from Nuclear Fusion and Autism to Emily Dickinson and the Tuskegee Airmen, and get animated into short movies to be used in the classroom. Lindsey is an enthusiast of yoga, cooking, park picnics, and her bad-ass book club. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and 10-month-old daughter.

Episode Guest: Amanda Butler

Amanda Butler is one of the founding instructors at Fhitting Room, a boutique fitness studio in New York City that focuses on High Intensity Interval Training and is still there today. Amanda is a NASM certified prenatal/postnatal trainer and if that wasn't impressive enough, she is also a fitness model and has been on the cover of Runner's World Magazine and Women's Health Total Body Bootcamp book.

This small town Hastings, Nebraska native studied Dance at Oklahoma City University and after graduating traveled the world and danced on Royal Caribbean ships for 3 years. She landed in NYC in 2011 and that's when she transitioned her career into the fitness industry.

Amanda and her husband welcomed their first son in July 2017, and Amanda is also a Step Mother to a 12 year old daughter. She is currently teaching part time, training personal clients, and loves spending time with her family!

Sarah Maguire grew up on the beaches of southern New Jersey with her two younger siblings. After landing an athletic scholarship to Northeastern University as a coxswain on the Men's Division I Rowing Team, she chose to stay in Boston after graduation, ultimately meeting her husband Ryan at the campus dive bar. Sarah and Ryan are real estate brokers at Compass in Boston where they are partners and run a wildly successful sales, leasing, development and management team. They live in Boston with their 3.5 year old son Liam, 1 year old daughter Mollie and their old grumpy bulldog, Stella. On summer weekends you can find them escaping to their little slice of heaven on Cape Cod. Oh, and if working 7 days a week and raising two children isn't enough, Sarah also doubles as a senior indoor cycling instructor at Boston's best boutique cycling studio - The Handle Bar AKA her own form of Xanax.

Episode Guest: Jessica Giesenkirchen

Jessica Giesenkirchen was born in Germany and raised in Cambridge, MA. She moved to New York in 2000 to focus on restaurant management. When a rare opportunity arose in 2011 to help open a new business, she took it and six years later, Jessica is now the Director of Operations at that same place, Nighthawk Cinema, a boutique Brooklyn cinema. She oversees a staff of over 70 employees and the daily operations of a growing business.

Jessica is also a mother of two! She gave birth to her Still born son in 2015 and after taking some to recover she decided to try again. Last Spring she welcomed her healthy and beautiful daughter and has been managing motherhood and work ever since. She is a "single mother by choice", a term she feels always needs to be in quotes.

Karla Bruning is a writer, on-camera reporter, and emcee who covers running, endurance sports, health, and fitness. She announces live at major events like the TCS New York City Marathon and United Airlines NYC Half, has hosted the TV broadcasts of the New York City Triathlon and Brooklyn Half, and has appeared on camera for ABC in New York, Runner's World, Champion, Brooks Running, New York Road Runners, and Hawaiian Xtreme Sports. Karla also writes for publications like Shape, Redbook, Runner's World, and Women's Running, along with her blog, RunKarlaRun.com. She used to report for Newsweek, but spent all her free time squeezing in workouts. Now it's her job. She's run 9 marathons, 30 half-marathons, and 11 triathlons and open water swims. In 2017, Karla added "Mom" to her title with the birth of her daughter. She also has a furry doghter, amazing husband, and serious case of wanderlust. In her first year, Karla's daughter visited six states and two countries. She seems to love travel as much as her mom. Karla has been to over 40 countries on six continents and counting!
