In 2015, he was fortunate enough to receive his first Liver Transplant. Following months of rehab, he returned to competitive shape for the Transplant Games in Spain in 2017, where he won a Gold Medal in Basketball. He competed again in the Salt Lake City games in 2018.

After Salt Lake City, he started to get very sick again, leading to a 2nd Liver Transplant, followed by the loss of feeling in his left leg and foot. He thought his days of athletic competition were over and began exploring options as a coach and trainer. This is where Pop Culture was born.

Let me ask you a question: does it matter if you beat someone by 1 rep or 100 reps in a workout? Should the leaderboard "score" that the same way? There is a lot of debate over whether the scoring system of the CrossFit Games is adequate to find the Fittest on Earth. This is wher Z-score comes in. Tyler Watkins, a data analyist, asserts that Z-score would give a much more precise idea of how each athlete performed compared to the average of the playing field.

Thomas got his start in arguably the most famous town known to CrossFit - Cookeville, TN. Some of his training partners included Rich Froning and Dan Bailey where he got his start in the CrossFit scene. Thomas went to Regionals and then eventually the CrossFit Games on a team.

In the meantime, Thomas started his online business, providing meal plans to his customers while working at his local church. This business soon grew into a multiple six figure business.

It’s that time of the year again - the new year. Billions of marketing dollars are poured into the machine to do 1 thing: sell you on the idea that to achieve more, or to aim more effectively, we must set better goals – the more “hairy” and “audacious” they are the better. Yet, most of us are beating our heads against the wall from last year as we can’t seem to make the progress that we want. This episode offers a different perspective on goal setting and how to achieve what sets your heart on fire.

He proceeded to dominate the teenage division at the Crossfit Games taking 2 first place finishes and a third. Unfortunately, as he aged out, his reign came to a swift and painful end when he suffered a back injury that left him defeated. This ultimately led to DiCicco walking away from competitive CrossFit until Froning asked him to be an alternate for the CrossFit Mayhem team for the 2021 season. Little did he know this would be the catalyst to an unforgettable season as he unexpectedly and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2021 CrossFit Games.
