The theme of covenant is strong in the entire bible as it describes God’s relationship with his people and what He has agreed to do, what He has promised to do. As you walk the path of salvation, you first accept grace as faith, then you are baptized into covenant. If one person breaks a contract it becomes null and void. Not so with a covenant. It remains valid.

Eduardo Chavez, the lead investigator for the canonization of Juan Diego. This became Lamb’s biggest resource with more than 30,000 documents concerning the 2002 canonization of St. Juan Diego.

Join Patti Brunner for the Truth of the Spirit’s “Songs of Meaning in the Mass” The sacred music sung during a Eucharistic Celebration "is not an accessory or embellishment of the liturgy, but is the liturgy itself." The ancient songs of scripture: ‘Holy, Holy’, ‘Glory to God in the Highest’ and Psalms are offered as proclamation and prayer; music joined to the Word of God is meant to draw people into an encounter with the living Word of God, who is Christ. The Tabernacle of the Lord with host Patti Brunner takes a distinctive gaze at tabernacles in Catholic Churches, the Mosaic tabernacle of the Old Testament and the tabernacle of the heart of the baptized. When the Spirit resides within you, and Jesus whispers His Words into your heart and mind, joy also takes place among the angels who stand near his Presence in your heart. They know that this is why Jesus suffered such a humiliating and painful death—so that in freedom from sin, you might be a tabernacle of the Most High God. The tabernacle of Moses in the desert was a foreshadowing of the joy that now takes place not in the desert tent but everywhere that the people of God dwell. The ‘real’ tabernacle comes down from heaven; it is Jesus, true God true Man. For the first time Man was truly able to have the Holy Spirit within him. The tabernacle of the Lord is set before all men as a reminder of God’s covenant with you. He said, “I will be your God and you will be my people”. When we come before a tabernacle in a Catholic Church we can gaze upon the place that solidifies heaven on earth -- the Creator among the created. The first tabernacle was like a mobile sanctuary that traveled with the Israelites as they wandered 40 years in the desert with Moses. The word tabernacle means tent. In the bible, God made his presence known in the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant was housed. As baptized and confirmed pure vessels, we too were created to be tabernacles of the Real Presence of God.
False Gods. Are your favorite saints a football team? Overcoming Demonic Barriers to Healing with Patti Brunner is Part 6 of the ‘Jesus Healed Them All’ series. Sometimes healings are blocked due to occult barriers. We are reminded in Ephesians 6 that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but spiritual forces of evil, such as spirits of infirmity, anxiety, addiction and spirits of fear. There are three types of demonic interference: Temptation, oppression and possession. The most frequent form of oppression is harassment. The enemy wants his victims to think there is no help or hope for them. Prayer may have to be repeated; wars have more than one battle and you may find yourself in spiritual warfare.

Inner healing unlocks the heart which, due to a pain of the past, has hardened and formed a barrier to prevent future pain at the cost of living the abundant life promised by Jesus. ‘When Healing Is Not Seen’ is Part 4 of Jesus Healed Them All with Patti Brunner and discusses barriers to healing. Why does one receive healing and another does not? Why are we healed and then later it comes back? Discern if there is a block to receiving the grace of healing. Negative words of authority—especially our own— affect our healing. Jesus has cut down the major barriers with the cross and his Precious Blood but the hearts of sinners have planted many briars and have placed various stumbling blocks. Our hope is in the Lord, who made heaven and earth! It’s there—not for the taking but for the receiving!

There is a blessing that comes forth when those who seek the Face of God share what they have been given. This includes sharing your witness. In this episode, Patti Brunner will give you pointers in preparing your witness and the benefits of Sharing the Abundant Life. Stewardship is not a ‘to do’ that we accomplish then cross it off the list. Its purpose is to connect us with Jesus. When you grow in understanding, you begin to comprehend truth in ways that you never realized. When your heart is moved by God’s love, it is an important moment in your life. Whatever you say, speak from the heart. Share truth; truth sets hearts free. When a difficult time in your life is overcome by the mercy and grace of God, it can become a witness sharing point. You can’t imagine the blessings that will flow as you recognize the presence of God in your life and then share that with others.
Blessing comes forth when those who seek the Face of God share what they have been given. Patti Brunner shares how she learned to test the Lord per Malachi 3:10 and how the Lord responded with blessings and an abundant life. This story of learning to trust God through tithing shows the fulfillment of the Parable of the Talents and the Lord’s command in Luke Chapter 6:38 "Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure packed together, shaken down and overflowing, will be poured into your lap".
Walk Among the Needy with Patti Brunner. When stress attacks the weak, the needy, it takes the intercession of others to bring the light of dawn into the situation. Wherever you are in the world there is a need greater than your own. Compared to most of the world, America is not poor. But poverty of spirit does not use financial wealth or “need” as its barometer and measure. The fruit of Christianity is a desire to take care of the needs of others. “Untold riches” is not based on money but on the Word of God. Managing the taking care of the needy is a responsibility of the Church leaders and that sometimes it is an overwhelming task.
The history of Pentecost and the charismatic movement that is taking place today is presented by Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner. “Pentecost History: Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow”. Truth of the Spirit asks you, “Can you imagine the impact of the Holy Spirit reuniting with man? The restoration of eternal life? The restoration of the presence of God with man after millennia of being apart?” Man’s destiny is to be fully one with God --by God dwelling within us. God created us to be one with him for all eternity. Destiny is not fulfilled until freewill is applied. Mankind chose to turn their backs on their supernatural nature and their destiny-- to live apart from God. God so loved man that He sent his beloved son to overcome death and fulfill the destiny by restoring holiness and restoring life by placing his Spirit within man. It is again a choice for each man. Now the Holy Spirit resides in those who seek God’s face.
Final episode of the Lenten Logos series on Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner. Jesus came upon the earth to restore you to the heavenly kingdom. Jesus came to give freedom to the captives—even those who have created their own prison and those who are oblivious to the fact that they are not free in their lives.
The difficulty with living your life in the world is that you were created for eternity. The world can never satisfy in the ‘long run'. You worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?” Jesus tells us, “Seek ye first The Kingdom of God and all this will be given unto you.”
Different hearts speak to the Lord in various ways. Some pour out their heart to God, others speak the prayers they memorized as a child. Prayer is talking to God or asking others to talk to God for us. Over the years my relationship with the Lord has expanded as He has taught me many things about prayer. As we use our freewill to ask help for ourselves and others, we are following the command of Jesus to proclaim the Kingdom of God and the barriers caused by pain, by ignorance, by pride, by sin are broken.
God’s Divine Mercy knows no bounds. We compare Divine Mercy to an ocean of grace, but the depths of the oceans only hint at the magnitude. God's mercy provides the Way for us. It is narrow but it is not boring and it is not constrictive. Our God delights in our use of imagination and designed freewill for the fullness of life. How do we find God’s Divine Mercy? Seek the grace and the joy of the day—for this is the day the Lord has made! It is uniquely designed for us and for this moment in history. Call upon the name of Jesus and your prayers will be heard.
There is a force in this land that hates God. If you love sin, the evil spirits are attracted to you like moths to a light bulb on a summer night. Satan preys on our longings and tempts us with imitations; he lies to us and uses things of the flesh and false spiritual things. Evil will try to penetrate, but when you are filled with the Most Holy Spirit, the evil cannot deceive you. One moment of truth destroys the darkness accumulated in a life time!

Everyone wants to go to heaven when they die. Interior conversion and repentance is found by developing relationship with God. One of the deadly effects of sin is that we lose our awareness of sin. We, in our sinfulness, and those who sin against us may be acting out of habit. The more frequently we receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, the more we are aware of our sin. God pours a tremendous amount of grace upon us that we might live peaceful, happy lives, yet the flow of grace is pinched off by the effect of sin like placing a tourniquet on an artery. Barriers keep us from receiving the fullness of God's grace. This is the Effect of Sin, the subject of part 2 of the Lenten Logos series on Truth of the Spirit. The complex effect of sin in the world causes pain. Every sin, every hurt, every rejection, every ugly word wounds us. We begin to build up protective layers, but unlike a pearl whose finished product is lovely, we are like an onion with layers that bring tears to our eyes.

With this episode I’m going to wrap up the series on the Basics of Faith with the Basics of Salvation. Man was cast into darkness when sin entered the world. Over time mankind got ‘used to the dark’. Jesus became man to become the perfect sacrifice to redeem the prisoners and set them free. Through the sacrificial death of Jesus, sin was forgiven and man is restored through the Light of Christ. Salvation is a free gift purchased by the Blood of Jesus. We cannot earn it—we can only accept it—or reject it. From the first moment of the Resurrection nothing stood in the way of the outpouring of God’s love.

It is an inexhaustible mystery. Jesus Christ is present body, soul and divinity in the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine. The doctrine of the Real Presence is found in the sixth chapter of John’s gospel where Jesus, himself, teaches about the Eucharist and about faith. We are not the only ones who need faith to accept the truth about the Real Presence; even Jesus’ own disciples needed it.

Jesus provides the example for us to lead an abundant life as Priest, Prophet, and King. Jesus is the High Priest. There is a ministerial priesthood and a common priesthood. A priest is someone who connects man to God and God to man. According to our baptism, that is one of our duties as a Christian. What’s a prophet? A prophet is someone who hears the voice of God and shares what God says. What is a King? Someone in charge of others by royal birthright, and their duty is to protect, provide and expand the kingdom and to be a good steward. Jesus gives us the example.

The kingdom on earth as it is in heaven is shown to us with the glorification of Christ’s body at the resurrection from the dead. Salvation is the gift of the paschal mystery. Salvation is free. It is freely given. It is a gift purchased by the blood of the innocent and blameless Lamb of God, sacrificed to reunite God and Man. The Eucharist, the fruit of salvation, is the reuniting of God and man intimately and completely. It is the completion of the resurrection, the sign of the reunification of God and man and the tangible presence of the almighty God among us and within us. Catechism # 1394 says, “Since Christ died for us out of love, when we celebrate the memorial of his death at the moment of sacrifice we ask that love may be granted to us by the coming of the Holy Spirit.”

In fact death surrounded by great suffering can still be a happy death. Suffering in this world is not rejection by God. Suffering began by man rejecting God. God so loved the World that He sent his only son to suffer and die in this world so that we could have the opportunity to never suffer again for all eternity—and the person who repents shall live forever in joy. This journey of life is not geared toward a momentary “payoff” like presents on Christmas morning. The joy lasts forever for those called to the table of the eternal banquet in heaven. And it starts with a happy death: A death in friendship with God, a death dwelling in God’s grace. Our nature says “What can I do for God?” To go deeper the Lord asks us: “What can I do for you?” Say “Fiat”, say “Yes”, to his good work in us; it encompasses everything. When we reject or complain we delay his work in us. We are like a tea cup God is making. It starts with a lump of clay and each process seems to hurt and beyond our understanding but after being subjected to firing it is beautiful. Our wounds make us know that we need God. Don’t desire to trade your experiences; they are allowed and designed and used by God for you to be who you are. Difficulties drive us toward God! Adoration discloses who we really are. Anything good in us is Jesus. Everything else that needs converting is us. James 3:17-18. Righteousness is sown in peacefulness. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers. Isaiah 30:15 “By waiting and by calm
you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust shall be your strength.”

In this portion of “Come to the Water”, Fr. Philip Scott’s focus is on Blessed Mother Mary and her motherhood, the help of saints, and benefits of adoration. Fr. Philip Scott shares that we are given Blessed Mother Mary as our mother because we need God’s love in a maternal way. When there are problems at home, the children are not noticed. The Lord and Mary will notice us in the adoration chapel. They look at us. To mother others, you have to be mothered. Our Lady wants to especially be the mother in your mothering. Ask Blessed Mother Mary to mother you. The power of God will come in our admission of weakness. The Saints have chosen us. Fr. Philip Scott says to look at feast days of the saints on the important dates of your life to see which saints have chosen you. Let the saints become your extended family. God is lifting the veil to receive the assistance from heaven with or without merit.
Fr. Philip Scott highly recommends adoration, at least an hour a day for retired people. Fr. Philip spends three to four hours a day in adoration. Our senses are being overwhelmed by noise that dulls us and makes us lose our desire for silence. Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He is waiting for us. Jesus wants to prepare us in adoration to face difficult situations. The pain in our joints is one of the gifts we are given to tame this world. “Long-suffering” is usually a preparation for a great grace.

Join Patti Brunner and Truth of the Spirit for Part 4 of the retreat given by Fr. Phillip Scott in Arkansas at Subiaco Coury House Retreat Center. In this episode of “Come to the Water”, Fr. Philip Scott describes the understanding of suffering that souls undergo within the Paschal Mystery. Many people today are stuck fleeing from suffering as the disciples did on the Holy Thursday as Jesus was taken from them in the garden. It seems God has disappeared. Through staying busy, distractions, staying strong, and cover up we avoid suffering. Avoiding suffering creates more suffering. Suffering either clogs you up or opens the airways. Give yourself permission to cry. Suffering reminds us that “this isn’t heaven.” Tears help the exchange from suffering to love. Suffering gets us out of the way. As you cry on Good Friday, you call it what it is and you need someone who understands to walk with you. As the soul enters Holy Saturday the impact of God’s presence is felt. You sense growth and become more empathetic; suffering gives you wisdom. You realize there is no joy without the Cross. Once you know the divine purpose, you can detach from others’ opinions. On Holy Saturday we are healed some but we are not done. We will be tempted to give up because Jesus has not yet shown up. When you reach Easter Sunday you wouldn’t trade the unique suffering God has allowed because you realize it is a blest thing.

In this third episode of the series “Come to the Water”, Fr. Philip Scott explains how God finds everything about you exquisite even the way your foot fits in your shoe. He loves you as if nothing existed in the universe but you. The question is not “God, where are you?” but “Where are you not?” Fr. Philip Scott shares he met a cloistered nun who has a gift like St. Anthony of Padua of experiencing becoming a child and playing with the Infant Jesus. Father Philip was with her as she interacted with the Infant Jesus as
he visited her for two hours and 50 minutes.
Quoting St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Father Scott shares that our soul is a piece of paradise, a piece of heaven, where the Lord resides. When he was kidnapped he heard the Trinity say to him, “My son what separates you and us, time and eternity, is a thread.” Time with God, especially adoration, begins to sensitize our senses so we can experience his ever closeness! When God finds a soul that is generous with Him, He will unleash graces that you cannot imagine! Through adoration, priests—even if they are a mess—are especially transformed into Jesus.

This is known as the “Real Presence”. Transubstantiation sets apart the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner welcomes Rick Brunner as he explores for us the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, a sign of God’s presence that brings special healing to those who are seriously sick or frail or dying. Rick’s example of ministering at the hospital shows the need for a touch from the Lord’s grace when most vulnerable due to illness and old age. He shares the glory of complete cleansing and preparation for glory—no matter the outcome of the situation; all of us eventually will pass on to judgment. Our love for Christ allows us to step forward to ask for this anointing. In scripture, James instructs priests to anoint the sick. Each time a prayer team prays for healing it is under the authority of this sacrament and sign. This sacrament is a healing—total healing—of the soul. When healing services tap into the grace of the Holy Spirit for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing it is to point the path to fullness of God’s love. They are partial healing but they open the heart in hope and faith to walk towards Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit to be embraced by them like the prodigal son was embraced by his loving Father and restored. Rick shares how the Sacrament of Reconciliation also brings healing to the soul. He ends sharing the many effects of this sacrament. Our natural instincts tell us to avoid pain but at the gym you hear “no pain no gain”. In Confession we have to humble ourselves. St. Faustina says we should derive two profits from holy Confession [the Sacrament of Reconciliation]; we come to Confession to be healed and we come to be educated. Like a small child, our soul is in constant need of education. The Catechism of the Catholic Church emphasizes that sacramental confession is the source of spiritual healing and in paragraph In (1421) it says: “The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that His Church continue in the power of the Holy Spirit, His work of healing and salvation.”

Join Patti Brunner for the new Truth of the Spirit series “The Eucharist and Other Sacraments”. This first episode introduces the concept of sacrament and begins with the Sacrament of Confirmation. The flow of the Spirit and the Spirit’s gifts is taught by the Catechism to take root at the decision to be open to God. The sacraments –the signs-of initiation of Baptism and Confirmation witness the choice and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s presence. Patti Brunner finds truth within the Catechism; the truth is potential. Each person who receives the sign of the Presence of God among us receives the potential to change the world. Week by week, day by day, hour by hour, the Holy Spirit dwells within those confirmed in the faith. This indelible mark is eternal; it should be clearly visible by the life led by those who have received it. The sign provides power and strength to wall always in the grace of the Lord. The Sacrament of Confirmation is as much a confirmation of His choice as it is of yours. Like a renewal of marriage vows this ritual seals what has already taken place. Some at Baptism are ready for this fullness, and some who receive this sacrament are not mature yet, but nevertheless are sealed with it and the opportunity for these graces is made present. Patti Brunner shares her personal experience that when she received this sacrament it was a ritual of time and culture but the seal stayed with her as did the most Holy Spirit, and when she opened her heart to the Lord the graces that awaited the moment, flooded her heart. Through Confirmation the Lord says to us: “I am with you. I remain with you. You are mine and I am yours.”

Our God is a God of Healing, He desires us to be whole. God provides healing in his words. In Proverbs 40:20-23, “Pay attention to what I say, turn your ear to my word, don’t let out of your sight; keep them in your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” Lissa Applewhite suggests that various words of scripture are God’s “medicine” for our healing, our restoration, and our continued health! Reading and memorizing these scriptures allow these words to sink deep into mind and spirit but if we go a step further by proclaiming these words out loud they become action! Action speaks louder than words! Speaking God’s words out is powerful, this takes God’s promise from internal to external, it fills our environment with his words and promise. Lissa feels that every time we stand on his word, his promises we experience healing. May not be resolution of symptoms or situation but one step closer to “total healing” which is after we are drawn eternally into God’s presence! We are also commissioned to be vessels of God’s healing by praying with others—both friends and strangers.
Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner welcomes Ken Hunter for this episode of Praying the Scriptures as the series on Prayer-Reaching Out to God continues. Praying scripture is not new – it dates back to the early Church, and even back to the Jews. Scripture is sacred, significant. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16. “But he answered and said, ‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4. This refers to Deuteronomy 8:3. “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” Proverbs 30:5. Next, we should notice that the early church prayed the Scriptures in Acts 4:24 and following. In fact, they explicitly quote Scriptures.
Praying scripture focuses on two aspects: Participation and Full Communication. A daily way to pray the scriptures is with the Liturgy of the Hours and another way is Lectio Divina. Ken gives instruction and samples of these and shares how, as a discerning member of the diocesan deaconate class, he uses the scripture to pray.

How is this prayer? Intertwining our beings --human being and God--joined together in eternity is possible only when both reach toward each other. The words of the Mass, the prayers said by God’s ordained priest on your behalf and the prayers you join together to say each have purpose and meaning.
The Opening Prayer of the Mass: allows you to recognize your place in time and to reach from your life towards God. Penitential Prayer- recognizing the purification of the vessel of your mind and heart --you offer the sacrifice of your choice to remove these sins by admitting them. Then you call upon God’s great mercy—recognizing that you cannot be purified on your own. You cannot be good enough—only by the blood of the Lamb and the Mercy of the Lord can your sins be forgiven. When you pray the Gloria you join your prayer with the angels to worship God. The Gloria prayer recognizes the greatness of the Lord to allow us to be where He is coming down. The most supernatural prayer Rick knows is praying in Tongues. Praying in Tongues is easy and very helpful. The person does need good teaching and usually someone to help them begin. It is part of the Church’s Baptismal gifts. And unlike the other supernatural gifts of the Spirit which are given to different people as the Holy Spirit wills, this gift seems to be for everyone. Therefore we encourage all to receive it. St Paul says in 1 Cor. 14:5 that “Now I should like all of you to speak in tongues.” Praying in Tongues is totally under the person’s control. The person decides when to start and when to stop. But you have no control over what words will be spoken. St Paul says in 1 Cor. 14:14 that “If I pray in a tongue my spirit is at prayer but my mind contributes nothing.” Our mind has no control over the words used in this prayer. This childlike step confounds the wisdom of the world by leaving the natural powers of intellect and memory behind. Praying in Tongues is important for spiritual growth and can bring about many blessings as shared in this episode. Also included is various teachings published by the leaders of the Catholic Church on Tongues.
Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner welcomes Sheila Canup for the series on Prayer-Reaching Out to God. As Sheila teaches on Deliverance, Protection and Cleansing Prayer, she shares her “on the job training” deliverance experiences. Unless you know your authority in Christ and are sure of the Holy Spirit’s power working in you leave it alone! Because like the woman sweeping her house and had it all cleaned out of spirits, and did not fill it, seven more came back. But sometimes when we are praying for people deliverance prayer becomes necessary. When it does, we need to know what and how to minister in the area of healing and releasing. We have all had something that had to be taken out of us that we didn’t know was there. We’ve been affected by childhood traumas and just life in general by people we are around, by literally being unaware that spirits can come within us. Now, we are not talking about possession. We are talking about oppressed, being attacked by demonic forces as when prayer for inner healing seems to accomplish nothing—the “constant loser” script, falling back into the same thing over and over and over. The Gift of Discernment is really necessary with deliverance. Prayer for deliverance is directed towards the opposing demons, oppressing demons—not at you! Demons cannot stand against the authority or the name of Jesus. Philippians 2:10 “Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” That means the demons have to, too. Pray for the protection of the Blood of Jesus.
This episode of Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner reminds us that we are not alone in our relationship with God. We are not alone in the Church. And so we need to know how to get along with each other in the Church. That’s why God, through the Fathers of the Church, gave all Christians rules to follow. These Church rules are called Canon Law.
The Lord is the Master Builder of the kingdom of God. Canon law provides a blueprint. It is not the kingdom itself but a way to best bring the different elements together in proper order and place. Sometimes people need to be told what to do for their own good. Following the regiment of Canon Law thus keeps the Church from generations to generation strong as family.
Christian duty involves action toward the whole Church, the whole world, your whole family and to yourself. In the commandments and the precepts you see the basic understanding of duty. In 1913 and 1983, when the Church took a fresh look at the Church Fathers they then called to mind the duties of the clergy and the duties of the laity. Up until this century, the canon law of the Catholic Church was scattered over a wide variety of texts and collections.
The Catechism reminds us that Christians are not ‘lone wolf’ followers of Jesus Christ, but part of a community of believers who become a member through faith in Christ and Baptism. We are family. We are a family that needs rules, and the grace to keep them!
This episode of Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner, Healing and Gifts of the Spirit, will explain the application of the gifts as used in healing. It includes personal testimony to instill the hope that all Christians can be open to spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit and that the purpose of these gifts are to edify the Church to prepare it for the ultimate healing in eternal life. As we read the scriptures we can see that Jesus taught us how to use these gifts of grace. This episode also includes some of the saints who used the healing gifts in ordinary and extraordinary ways. Each charism listed in the First Letter to the Corinthians can be used in some way for healing. 1 Corinthians 12: “1 Now in regard to spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware… 4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; 5 there are different forms of service but the same Lord; 6 there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. 7 To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” NAB

Advance your spiritual journey. That which does not grow, stagnates. Lots of people complain, say “somebody should do something” – well, be part of it! Recognize the battles in our lives. Morals are not defined by us. They are inherent – but can fool ourselves. Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, but don’t do as I say?” We say “Lord AND Savior” and just focus on the Savior part. Is He your Lord or not? Live as we want the world to be, as we want eternity to be, as Christ instructed us to be. Trust in the Lord – stand on firm ground. Don’t believe the lies. Allow the Lord to fight for us. Realize our role; we are all in the fight for salvation – everyone, whether they think it or not, want it or not. Change the world by changing our country; change our country by changing your state. Change your town by changing your family. Change your family by allowing the Lord to change you.

We talk about Spiritual Warfare, but what really is the War? Simply: Good vs Evil, God’s plan vs Satan’s attempting thwarting of that plan. What’s at stake: Salvation & eternal life, uniting with God in Heaven or being isolated in the despair of Hell – it’s just that straightforward. Think of this: Jesus mentions hell and Satan more than any other part of Bible. THE GOOD NEWS is that we’ve won the war – Satan is defeated. The power is Good is vastly more powerful than that of Evil. By why then is there still a battle? Sin keeps us from our salvation – we choose or reject our participation in the victory. People say sin doesn’t impact the world, that’s just such a blatant lie. More of the dark victories are in the subtler aspects, hidden in the undercurrents.
The Helmet of Salvation is the final piece of armor presented in the series on the Truth of the Spirit Armor of God. Rick Brunner joins Patti Brunner as speaker. The Helmet of Salvation is a family heirloom passed down through the generations to recall the salvation given by Jesus through the cross, death and resurrection. It is a gift given at Baptism for us to wear for the rest of our lives. It helps us to think more clearly and recognize God. The enemy tries to penetrate the helmet not by hitting us over the head but by getting under it with thoughts and memories of failure and temptations. But the strength of the Helmet of Salvation is that it has been worn by all those who came before you. Each saint, each holy man and woman have their memories to share. The Helmet of Salvation was worn—indeed it was forged—by Christ himself. He continues to wear it with you and thus your strength comes from this. “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”1 John 4:4. The Helmet of Salvation becomes your birthright as you are born again in Baptism through water and the Spirit. Sin cannot stand against salvation. It can never conquer salvation. Only rejection by our freewill removes it. Take strength in your salvation. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph #1994 says, this act of salvation is greater than the creation of the universe and everything in it.

Ephesians 6:17 says, “And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” During our darkest hours Satan will come to tempt us or torment us and attack us. He doesn’t stop. He tempts us to question the Father‘s will for us and his love for us. He looks for every opportunity to lead us to discouragement and depression and despair. The lies are overcome by the light of truth in God’s Word and the Sword of the Spirit. The Word of God is an offensive weapon that is for close combat. The enemy is not going to stand far off once he gets a toehold on you. He will be “up close” making you miserable. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Hebrews 4:12 “Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.”
The Shield of Faith is part 5 of 7 of the Armor of God series. Ephesians 6:16 says, “At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the evil one.” A shield is something we must pick up and hold up in front of us or it does no good! While a physical shield protects us physically, faith can protect our spiritual lives even in the middle of physical trials. Satan is always hurling his fiery darts of fear, doubt and worry in our direction, but the only time they can hit us is when we let our shield of faith down. When we allow doubt to creep in, as Peter did when distracted by the waves, we will start to sink. The Shoes of Preparation for the Gospel of Peace is part 4 of 7 of the series on the Truth of the Spirit Armor of God. Ephesians 6:15 says, “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” Before putting on the shoes, be aware of standing barefoot before God as a sign of submission and giving Him complete control. Help others by spreading this Gospel of Peace and not only the word of God but also how we live and the good example we set. "He who abides in Him ought to walk in the way He walked." 1John 2-6. Soak up every word in the Gospels - "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" Matt 4-4. Romans 16:20 “And the God of Peace shall quickly crush Satan under your feet.” Be prepared for disarming the demon world by knowing the word of God - just as Jesus did in the desert. Repeating the proclamation by Isaiah, Paul tells us in Romans 10:15 “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news”.
The Breastplate of Righteousness is part 3 of 7 of the series on the Armor of God. The enemy draws you ever inward and away from a relationship with God. Hardness of heart is not a Breastplate of Righteousness but a breastplate of self. How do you guard your heart? To be vulnerable to love requires surrender – not to sin but to the imperfections of others. Let God be the perfection of love. To say “God loves me and so it doesn’t matter what I do or say” shows not reliance on God but a testing of God’s gift of free will. What are some ways that we can spot that we are in the midst of a “spiritual attack”? In this episode we are reminded of the overall use of spiritual warfare-- defend, protect and destroy. We explore the righteousness of Jesus Christ and that the sacraments of Baptism and Reconciliation deliver His righteousness to us. We are reminded that Baptism remains always. We also see that the enemy longs for you to deny and reject it--the only way it can be penetrated. Praising God “polishes” the Breastplate of Righteousness and Reconciliation removes the filth that accumulates so that it does not become so burdened with sin that you want to remove it because of its heaviness. When caked with personal sin and bitterness it seems to be the problem instead of the solution. And we talk about the many benefits of guarding your heart with the Breastplate of Righteousness.
“The first piece of armor in the full armor of God found in Chapter 6 of Ephesians, verses 10-17, the Belt of Truth. This passage begins by St. Paul saying “Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.”” And this is key to understanding the armor of God. The Belt of Truth is defensive in nature and helps us stand firm against the schemes of the devil. John 14:6 “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” Without truth we are lost. Our best defense against Satan is the Word of God, His Truth & His Promises. God's truths are revealed in the Word of God. "Gird the loins of your mind" 1Peter 1:13 NAB and tuck away and rid yourself of anything that gets in the way of focusing on the Lord. The devil lies and tries to confuse so it's important to know the Word and the Truth. This is the best way to discern Satan’s lies from the word of the Spirit.

Today we begin a new series on Truth of the Spirit on the Armor of God. We hear about the armor of God in Ephesians in the New Testament. There is a spiritual war waged against us whether we believe it or not. We tend not to recognize Satan, who we know as the “father of sin”. Our ignorance of him makes him far more effective. As Christians we are in a daily battle of some sort on a daily basis. Our spiritual battle is real, even though we cannot see the attacker. But in the spiritual realm, there is a battle raging regardless of my willingness to fight. God has authority over heaven and earth; we just have to stand with him when we are bombarded by the evil in this world. It may seem that the world is getting far more evil than it has ever been before, and that may be true, but evil is not new. God wants us to be prepared. He doesn’t want us to be beaten down. But we have to equip ourselves with all God gives us. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we live in the world we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretense that sets itself against the knowledge of God. And we take every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” There are also some tools that are given to us by our Catholic faith. These are richly founded in our faith. Standing firm in the Armor of God does not stop spiritual warfare from raging; it stops it from defeating you.
A Word of Knowledge is a personal revelation concerning an event of the past. This revelation can be used to trigger a memory that needs to surface so that healing can take place. Sometimes the word can reveal something unknown except to the person receiving prayer that when revealed then builds faith in the Lord’s love and personal care so that healing can take place. These words can guide the prayer leaders to then address particular needs of the person receiving prayer and thus overcome obstacles that can block various types of healing.
Words of Wisdom work closely with Words of Knowledge because they provide the ongoing discernment of revealing and praying the truth. These do not reveal past issues but rather are in the ‘now’ and coming event
Often the gifts of Miracles and Healing are related when a person in need asks the Lord for his merciful grace to bring healing to a great infirmity in their lives. They also relate to those things that cannot be accomplished through ordinary means. Healing is the most sought after charism and easiest to accept by those who trust in the Lord. The best starting place for understanding our call to minister and receive healing is to study Jesus. What did Jesus think about healing? It is quite obvious when we read the Gospel of Matthew that a major part of Jesus’ time was given to healing. Whether he healed because of his great compassion and love, to witness the kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, or to draw people to hear the truth there is no doubt that Jesus provided temporal and spiritual healing during his ministry years.
The Gift of Prophecy is a supernatural communication from God to an individual or a group of believers. It is an anointing given by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 14: 1 “Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” NAB Prophecy is speaking of the mind and heart of God to His people. God’s voice is gentle and strong, listen for love in it. His voice brings peace. Rarely does He use a burning bush, chariots of fire or a thundering voice to speak to you.
Described by St. Paul as the least of the gifts, this unusual gift is very helpful for all Christians. This episode will answer many of your questions about the charism of Tongues and help you to receive this gift of the Holy Spirit.
You forgive because you were forgiven. This is the basis of salvation. When you go against this it can cause all kinds of issues in your life. It steals your peace, it can destroy your faith, it can affect your body, it can cost you your very life—your eternal life. This is serious stuff! How do we learn to forgive? Nothing that has been done to you is greater than that which Jesus took to the cross and yet Jesus forgave them. In fact, that which harmed you was at the cross also. The Lord invites and empowers you to participate in his forgiveness.

Baptism of the Spirit is when the Lord stirs into a flame the Spirit that was given to us in the sacraments. The truth is this, God sent His Holy Spirit to dwell within us to guide us on the Way and to share His love with us. Often this gift lies dormant. When we allow the grace of the Holy Spirit to penetrate our hearts, God’s grace brings us a reorientation of our whole life toward God and thus eternal happiness. At the same time it causes the desire and resolution to change our life with hope in God’s mercy and trust in the help of his grace. It brings healing and a turning away from evil.

God’s love does not hinge on whether you are good or not. This show explores the Father’s love for you like the father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. Through Baptism we become children of God and heirs of the kingdom of God. His gift of love to us is salvation and life in the Spirit.
Trust me, when the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus like a dove, He was not a pigeon. The Holy Spirit is a person. The Holy Spirit can come with the gentleness of a dove. The Holy Spirit can also manifest with sound, wind, power, fire, and life. The wind of the Spirit can be a gentle breeze or come like the strong wind of a tornado. The hounds of hell—the gates of hell cannot prevail against the Holy Spirit mirrored in nature by the tornadic winds that consume all in the path that has become a barrier.

You know that when you get past the rough part you will find the splendid view. Life has rough spots, too. Did you ever consider that these rough parts could actually lead you to something way above average? God gives us the grace we need to climb over or the patience to work around hardship to get to our destination. As you desire to be happy do you need to let go of yesterday's pain, mistakes and regrets? How can a fruitful encounter with God be the answer?
Second of the series "Working Through the World's Chaos to Find Supernatural Peace". Thomas Aquinas said: "No one can live without joy. That is why a person deprived of spiritual joy goes after carnal pleasures." If we are not growing in one area, it is like fertilizing and tolerating the other, so that the other grows. In our culture today, it seems like the carnal is growing by leaps and bounds. It doesn't have to happen. God gives us the grace to rebalance our scales.

Too often we can get caught up in a negative attitude and complaining. We want others to know about the half empty glass and accuse others of being the culprits of emptying it. Anxiety causes chaos. Anxiety and stress can make you physically sick. Jesus tells us it can affect our spiritual well-being too. St. Paul knows we can get our mind off our worries by counting and speaking our blessings and joys.
