We start off the episode by discussing the disappearance of Vanessa Guillen, who went missing from Fort Hood in April. Then we talk about the mysterious fireworks that have been (literally) popping off across the country, and delve into some theories about what it all means. The theme this week is “don’t just throw your money at organizations without doing a little due diligence”. We talk one probable scam and one case of mixed up identity. First it’s Plant A Tree Co, a big IG page that claims to plant a tree for every product purchased on their site... but do they really? Then we talk about a confusingly named foundation that fooled companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft into donating millions for the wrong cause

Then the NATC crew provides some much-requested updates to 2 cases we've previously discussed: Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell (the missing Idaho kids) and Madeleine McCann.

Special note: We record our episodes on a delay, meaning we're at least 1 week behind in current events. That said, we went back to the future this week to discuss Betty Broderick, the inspiration behind the new season of Dirty John, called Dirty John: Betty. First of all, we touch on how dumb of a title that is. But then we get into the details of what caused Betty Broderick to snap and kill her ex-husband and his new wife. We also discuss our Queen, Hilary Duff, getting dragged into the Q Anon conspiracy, and attempt to make sense of it all. NATCP tackles the life and crimes of D. Gary Young, the founder of Young Living Essential Oils. Even before starting what is now a giant MLM company, Young was no stranger to sketchiness. Casey, Danny, and Sara bullsh*t about life in quarantine before diving into the mysterious disappearance of Jennifer Kesse. The 24-year-old Orlando woman went missing on her way to work on January 24, 2006, and basically vanished into thin air. We go into the few details there are about Jennifer's disappearance and recent updates, and of course tell you who we think did it. http://charleyproject.org/case/jennifer-joyce-kesse https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/family-refuses-give-search-jennifer-kesse-who-vanished-14-years-n1122296 http://blinkoncrime.com/category/jennifer-kesse/
After being inspired by HBO's Bad Education starring Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, and Ray Romano, Sara, Danny, and Casey decide to delve into what really happened in the Roslyn school district in 2004. From flights to face lifts, superintendent Frank Tassone managed to quietly swindle millions of dollars from taxpayers to fund his lavish lifestyle. We don't hate it! We break down how everyone involved got away with the embezzlement, talk about how Bad Education stacks up against the real story, and discuss where everyone is now. We also read a listener letter from a fan who worked for a scam shampoo company. RoboKiller: Stop spam calls. Proving once again that the 1970s were a lawless time where you could literally get away with murder, we’re examining the life and crimes of Rodney Alcala aka the Dating Game Killer. Alcala killed scores of women in the late 70s and also appeared on (and won) the Dating Game TV show in the middle of his killing spree. Smh.

What's black and white and covered in a purple shroud? The members of the Heaven's Gate cult after their ritualized mass suicide, which occurred in 1997 and was the largest mass suicide on U.S. soil. Casey, Danny, and Sara will take you through the cult's beginnings, their out-of-this-world beliefs, and its tragic end for 39 of its members. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/heavens-gate-cult-members-found-dead https://www.britannica.com/topic/Heavens-Gate-religious-group#ref700331 https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/heavens-gate-20-years-later-10-things-you-didnt-know-114563/ https://www.salon.com/2014/11/15/anatomy_of_a_mass_suicide_the_dark_twisted_story_behind_a_ufo_death_cult/ https://redditblog.com/2015/10/03/an-interview-with-the-heavens-gate-webmaster-meet-telah-61/ https://www.nytimes.com/1997/03/29/us/from-religious-childhood-to-reins-of-a-ufo-cult.html
Westfield, NJ strikes again. The quaint affluent NJ town that brought us The Watcher (in a previous ep) was also home to a grisly murder committed by John List. List brutally murdered his entire family, and then went on the run for almost 18 years. With the help of a good ol' program called America's Most Wanted, he was finally apprehended.
It's the docuseries sensation that's sweeping the nation, so of course the NATC fam is here to talk about motherf*cking TIGER KING! Did Joe put out a hit on Carole? Did Carole kill her husband Don and feed him to the tigers? Is Jeff Lowe the shadiest man alive? Who wasn't on meth here? We grapple with all these questions, and a hell of a lot more.
In a world pre-COVID-19 social distancing (remember that?), the NATC crew sat down to talk about the disappearance of Amy Lynn Bradley. The then-23-year-old took a cruise with her family to the Caribbean, and after a night of dancing with one of the ship's musicians, disappeared. Sara, Casey, and Danny break down what happened right after Amy disappeared, how the cruise handled it (or, more accurately, didn't), discuss the many sightings that have happened in the years since her disappearance, and share their theories. Check out "Made Women'----> https://link.chtbl.com/madewomen_MR_01 Sources: https://thehueandcry.com/missing/amy-lynn-bradley/ https://www.drphil.com/slideshows/the-search-for-natalee-amy-bradley/ https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2015/09/cruise-into-darkness-the-bizarre-disappearance-of-amy-bradley/
While Casey is out of town, Danny and Sara are joined by a very special guest host: Harlan Coben! The NYT best-selling author of many thrillers including The Stranger, Run Away, and Don't Let Go helps us break down the twisted tale of Bruce Hay, the Harvard professor who got caught in an alleged fake paternity plot with two women. It's a wild ride, trust us. Be sure to watch Coben's new Netflix series, The Stranger, and buy his new book, The Boy From The Woods, out March 17.Sources: https://www.thecut.com/2019/07/bruce-hay-paternity-trap-maria-pia-shuman-mischa-haider.html https://www.thecut.com/2019/08/bruce-hay-paternity-trap-maria-pia-shuman-mischa-haider-follow-up.html
Sara, Casey & Danny continue coverage of the Casey Anthony case. If you haven't listened to part 1, GO LISTEN NOW! Settle in for a very special two-part episode where we tackle the Casey Anthony case that everyone’s been asking us to cover. Ask and you shall receive! This week, we cover Caylee’s disappearance and Casey’s many changing stories. And stay tuned for next week when we talk about the trial, and of course, whodunit.
This week we’re talking another MLM pyramid scheme, Monat. That’s the shampoo one that’s recently been hit with multiple class action lawsuits for allegedly causing scalp sores, hair loss, and a whole lot of other issues. It ain’t pretty.
NATC is going ripped from the headlines this week to investigate the whereabouts of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, who have been missing since September from Rexburg, Idaho. Danny, Sara & Casey walk through the twisted web that is this family tree, complete with multiple “suspicious” deaths and a cult. Shouts out to East Idaho news for a very clutch & thorough timeline of this crazy case.
Brace yourself, NATC fam, because this episode isn't for the faint of heart. We're going across the pond to discuss the crimes of Fred and Rose West, which include child abuse, rape, murder, and that's not even the half of it. Casey, Danny, and Sara talk about Fred's upbringing and early crimes, all the way up to him meeting his second wife Rose and building a literal house of horrors. Sources: https://www.biography.com/crime-figure/fred-west https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6998695/fred-rose-west-victims-buried/ https://criminalminds.fandom.com/wiki/Fred_and_Rosemary_West https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1219527/fred-west-news-rose-west-new-year-murderer-revolting-final-request-spt
We know you're dying of FOMO, so here's everything you missed at the Not Another True Crime Podcast live show at Union Hall. We played "Killer First Date" where we impersonated one podcast subject and made an audience member guess our identities, and shared some audience Super Secret Serial Killer traits. Danny, Casey & Sara also covered the infamous "malicious wounding" case of Lorena and John Bobbitt.
Everyone has been going crazy for Netflix's Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez, so the investigative detectives who make up the elite squad known as the Not Another True Crime Podcast hosts are on this one. Hernandez was many things: a pothead, a star footballer, a regulation hottie, and really, really bad at getting away with murder. Casey, Danny, and Sara discuss Hernandez's brief but dramatic fall from grace as well as the Netflix documentary that everyone's talking about.
This week's topic is a deep cut straight out of France: Jean-Claude Romand. This story has everything: a con artist, a pyramid scheme, a spree killer, and arson. Moral of the story: just get a job, it's way easier than lying to your friends & family for 18 years
You all asked for it, none of the hosts wanted it, but we do it for the fans so this week we're tackling Don't F*** With Cats, the Netflix docuseries about Luka Magnotta. First, Danny, Casey and Sara read a letter from one listener who saw something sketchy on the internet and became a one-woman FBI squad. Then they get into the documentary and talk about the most shocking and disturbing parts, what they think of the Facebook Group detectives, and if they think Manny Lopez is real (lol).

In part two of the Laci Peterson murder episode, Danny, Casey, and Sara talk about Scott Peterson's trial, all the evidence (or lack thereof) the state had against him, plus all the shenanigans that went down in the media and in jury deliberation. It's the final episode of 2019, so we also spitball what other cases we want to cover in 2020.
In part one of a two-part episode, the NATC fam is talking about the case that put Nancy Grace on the map: the murder of Laci Peterson. Fittingly, Laci went missing on December 24, 2002 and was found dead in April 2003. This week, we are going over Laci's final moments and talking about Scott's sketchiness. Then stay tuned for next week when we cover the trial and our theories!
With Casey out sick, Sara and Danny are back to talk pyramid schemes—specifically, LuLaRoe, the infamous leggings multilevel marketing company. Over the last couple years they have faced a class action lawsuit, were kicked out of the National Down Syndrome Society, failed to pay bills (same), and were sued a few more times. Not only do they design visually haunting leggings, but they also steal your money. Sara and Danny give tips on how to avoid getting duped. Check out the brand new podcast Blood Ties from Wondery: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1484142154
This week, the NATCP team went down under to one of the craziest cases in Australia. Kathleen Folbigg is one of the most notorious serial killers, who is spending over 30 years for killing her four kids. Should be an open and shut case, but is it?
The NATC team is back with a Wait, What? covering the new Netflix documentary Bikram: Yogi, Guru, Predator. To start they show, they’re joined by NATC producer Sean Kilby to discuss Bikram’s alleged abuses, the popularity of hot yoga, and how this story mirrors other tales of sexual exploitation. Then they’re joined by the director of the documentary herself, Eva Orner, to discuss how the abuses came to light and what’s next in the quest for justice.
Everybody's favorite podcast hosts are back to talk about another murder: Greggory Smart. In May 1990, he was found dead, and later it came out that his wife, Pamela, conspired with her 15-year-old lover (gross) Billy and his friends to murder her husband. Pre-O.J., pre-Menendez brothers, Pamela Smart's trial was the first trial to be televised gavel to gavel. In other words, it was a big f*cking deal. The only twist? To this day, Pam insists she had nothing to do with the murder plot. We'll go through all the details and discuss if we believe Pamela Smart or think she's full of shit
NATCP finally covers one of the most demanded mysteries: the death of Elisa Lam. The 21-year-old disappeared while staying at the infamously sketchy Hotel Cecil, and was later found dead in the hotel's water tank. But did she end up there willingly, or was there foul play? That's what Sara, Danny, and Casey attempt to figure out this week.
We covered these cases, and now it's time for updates! Casey, Danny & Sara discuss Natalia the Ukranian orphan's interview with Dr. Phil, the casting for Netflix's Anna Delvey series, the news surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's suicide (he was murdered), and other true crime updates that are currently in the news. They also play a new game Casey made up called "psychopath or genius".
It's our first ever pyramid scheme episode! The NATC fam tackles WTF went down with Advocare, a multilevel marketing company that recently got shut down by the FTC for being a pyramid scheme.
Casey is in Paris living her best life this week, so Danny and Sara are talking about Samuel Little, a man who the FBI just declared the most prolific serial killer in US history with 50 confirmed murders. Sara and Danny talk serial killer traits, then provide a bio on Little and discuss his M.O.
Danny, Sara, and Casey interview CAROLINE F*CKING CALLOWAY. They discuss mental health and the right and wrong ways to talk about it. They obviously also talk alllllll about the article Natalie Beach wrote for The Cut. Caroline reveals what everyone got wrong about her so-called "scam" seminars, what Natalie misrepresents in The Cut, and hints at what's in the works for the future for both her and Natalie. If you want to check out "Bad Batch" by Wondrey, click the link below! wondery.fm/BadBatchNATC
In a literal dream come true, Danny and Sara sit down to interview Alexis Haines, aka Alexis Neiers of the Bling Ring and Pretty Wild fame. She dishes on what ACTUALLY happened during the Bling Ring and what everybody gets wrong, and on her feud with Nancy Jo Sales and if there's ever a chance at reconciliation. Alexis also discusses her own recovery from heroin addiction and talks about what she's doing to help other who are suffering from addiction.
The story of Natalia Grace is literally a real-life horror movie—specifically, Orphan, which came out in 2009. Kristine and Michael Barnett thought they adopted a 6-year-old from Ukraine in 2010, but things were not what they seemed. The Barnetts claim that their adopted daughter, Natalia Grace, was actually a disturbed 22-year-old who tried to kill them. Sara, Danny, and Casey give the lowdown on this insane story.
The NATCP gang is finally covering Canada's most killer couple, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. Warning: this episode is not for the faint of heart (or stomach). Paul and Karla's crimes were especially heinous, to borrow from Law & Order: SVU. If you thought you had a f*cked up relationship... just wait till you hear about this killer couple.
The NATC crew takes on America's "first female serial killer", Aileen Wuornos—and discusses why that characterization is not really accurate. Aileen's life was a roller coaster, and Danny, Casey, and Sara take you through it, from a horrible upbringing to a marriage to a yacht club president to finally murdering 7 men in Florida. Then they play a new game involving their last meals on earth.
We interrupt our regularly scheduled program of true crime to explain what’s going on with Caroline Calloway, the influencer who was accused of running a scam in early 2019. It all started with an essay in The Cut last week by Caroline’s former friend and ghost writer. Sara, Casey, and Danny explain who Caroline Calloway is and why people care about her, plus give the lowdown of the drama that’s happened over the past week.
It sounds too shady to be true, but somehow it is. Rebecca Zahau, girlfriend of millionaire Jonah Shacknai, was found with her hands and feet bound, naked. Her death was ruled a suicide but many, including her family, don’t think that’s the whole story. Danny Casey And sara go over all the strange circumstances surrounding her tragic death and of course the theories. Check out "Over MY Dead Body" by Wondery! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/over-my-dead-body/id1447892344
The NATC crew tackles the mysterious Westfield Watcher, the case where a NJ family moved into their dream home... but that dream quickly turned to a nightmare when they started receiving creepy letters. Not everyone believes The Watcher is real, notably, the Westfield residents think it’s all a hoax. Casey, Danny, and Sara attempt to get to the bottom of it, and also tell stories of their worst roommate/apartment horrors.
Nazis, a secret society, the apocalypse? What do all these things have in common? They are all linked to the Denver International Airport. Sara, Danny, and Casey discuss all the conspiracy theories surrounding the airport, from the suspect shape to the weird-ass art to the mysterious tunnels, and more.
The NATC Pod crew teams up with the godmother of true crime, Nancy Grace, host of Truth and Justice with Nancy Grace on Oxygen. They talk Jodi Arias, Scott Peterson, why we worship serial killers, and a whole lot more. Plus Nancy gives her best tips on how not to get murdered!
Sara, Casey, and Danny are back with another cult. This time they’re breaking down one of the worst mass murders in American history, the Jonestown massacre. They will talk through how it began and how everything went south so quickly for the Peoples Temple.
Sara, Danny, and Casey sit down with Rachel DeLoache Williams, former Vanity Fair photo editor and author of My Friend Anna, out now. They discuss what Anna Delvey/Sorokin was really like and what Rachel learned from getting scammed by her so-called “friend”. They also discuss how Rachel feels about Anna’s public perception and what’s next for her (think: HBO special).
Danny, Sara, and Casey finally break down I Love You, Now Die, the new HBO documentary about the death of Conrad Roy III and trial of Michelle Carter. Or as you may know it, the texting suicide case. They discuss what everybody got wrong in the initial press coverage back in 2014, the wildest parts of the documentary (Glee, anybody), and the most recent updates on Michelle's jail time.
The NATC Pod crew tackles one of the most requested cases from the fans: the disappearance of Susan Cox Powell. This case has everything: Mormons, a creepy father-in-law, pancakes, a missing woman, and a horrifying twist. Casey, Danny, and Sara break down the case and share their theories as to what happened to Susan. They also play a new game called “my habit that would get me murdered by a serial killer”.
In this crossover episode with the Betches Sup podcast, Sara teams up with Sami Fishbein, co-founder of Betches, and Amanda Duberman, Betches News & Politics Editor. They break down the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, from his first arrest to now, and discuss why they think he ran an underage sex pyramid scheme. This one has everything: sex trafficking, a rich guy whose source of wealth is a complete mystery, high-profile figures like Donald Trump and Prince Andrew, and more crazy sh*t you can't even imagine.
Literally nobody asked for it, but Casey, Danny, and Sara cover the conspiracy theory that the moon landing was faked. They go over the "evidence" that it was all filmed in a Hollywood studio, with expert commentary from a history teacher (Sara's brother) on why the U.S. would even go through the trouble to fake going to the moon in the first place
Danny, Casey, and Sara start this episode off by trying one of the fans’ super secret serial killer trait, and boy is it a scary one. Then in this three-for-one episode, they tackle 3 different people who died on their honeymoons. Did their new spouses kill them, or were these horrible accidents?
