Chip and Joanna Gaines are Cable TV stars, famous for their ability to decorate, their company called Magnolia and their Christianity. Now they’re starting a new show where one of the couples featured is comprised of two men and two children they acquired through surrogacy.
A lot of Christians are understandably upset about this, including me. Children need moms and dads, period, and to try to normalize anything else is an injustice not only to children, but also to society, and certainly does nothing to enhance the “Christian” brand that they claim to represent. It’s sad to see people targeted by culture bullies and succumb to the pressure. The backlash from Christians has been intense. Will the new show tank as a result? Stay tuned….

Dave Marlon Bio
Dave Marlon, PsyD, MBA, LADC-S, CPC-I, SAP is an interventionist, social entrepreneur and addictionologist. He co-founded and serves as CEO of Vegas Stronger, a nonprofit that is working to end homelessness in Las Vegas by addressing key issues such as substance abuse, mental illness, and health issues. He founded and built one of the most successful addiction recovery centers in the country in the heart of Southern Nevada. The 30-year Las Vegas resident, after successfully addressing his own struggles with substance abuse, realized that he was uniquely suited to help others confronting addiction. Dave has been clean and sober since 5/15/05.
His peers have consistently recognized Dave as a leader in his field. He is the President of the Southern Nevada Association of Addiction Professionals (S.N.A.A.P.) and the 2018 National Advocacy Award from the Association for Addiction Professionals. Locally, he has been recognized as a graduate of the Leadership Las Vegas program, with the Mayor’s Commendation, and received the Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada’s Vanguard Award. He has served on the Governor’s Substance Abuse Working Group. Dave’s work in the recovery sector earned him the Inspired Excellence Award from Las Vegas H.E.A.L.S.
He founded The C.A.R.E. Coalition and The Solutions Foundation, both of which combat substance abuse in Southern Nevada and help raise awareness about addictive behavior and its consequences. Dave has served on many nonprofit boards such as H.E.L.P. of Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, the Nevada Donor Network, Serving Our Kids Foundation, Shine-A-Light, and the U.N.L.V. Soccer Foundation. He has helped establish the first public recovery high school in the nation and is helping champion the fight against the opiate epidemic through the foundation, Vegas Stronger. He formerly was CEO of Crossroads of Southern Nevada, an indigent detox and housing facility, and Solutions Recovery, the largest private alcohol and other drug rehabilitation company in the state.
Altogether, Dave has more than 30 years of health care experience in both recovery and insurance. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the State University of New York and holds a Master’s in Business Administration and Master’s in Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dave is pursuing his Doctorate degree in psychology at Walden University and is all but dissertation (ABD), towards his PsyD. In Nevada, he is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor – Supervisor, a Clinical Professional Counselor Intern, and a Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional.
Dave was featured in season 22 of A&E’s Emmy award-winning show Intervention. Dave’s most important role is as father to his two boys, Owen and Tristan. He enjoys boxing, mountain climbing, and helping others in recovery.

Jerry Del Colliano is a professor at NYU Steinhardt, focusing on Music and the Media Industry. His bio is below. We had a great chat about how young people today are viewing media, how we in older forms of media can still reach them, and what happens if we don’t.

Jerry Del Colliano is a broadcaster, media executive, and educator whose background uniquely includes the music industry and its often-disruptive convergence with traditional and digital media.
He is the publisher of Inside Music Media, the aptly named and deadly honest paid-subscription publication that is read by music and media executives as well as investors and global interests looking to see the future of these important industries. Jerry was also the founder of Inside Radio and was a Clinical Professor of Music Industry at the University of Southern California.
Jerry’s background includes major market television, radio (on-air and program management), traditional and digital publishing, speaking, and consulting. He is considered a key resource in music and media matters and has been interviewed by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Post, Columbia Journalism Review, Daily Beast, Washington Post, Forbes, Fortune, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC’s 20/20, and numerous media outlets.
Professor Del Colliano has conducted conferences, brainstorming sessions, and custom seminars for various music and media clients through his business and teaching. He has worked with music and media companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Universal Music, Emmis Broadcasting, Warner Music, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Jerry was born across the river in Hoboken, NJ. At USC, his collaborative teaching style was based on Jerry’s philosophy that “the teacher and the taught together do the teaching.” He was also Director of Executive Programs at USC Thornton School of Music and encouraged participation of industry innovators with classroom learning.
At NYU, Professor Del Colliano teaches Music in the Media Industry focusing on the implications of the transition from linear to digital media. How did we arrive at this point and what is the future of two industries whose fate has been and will always be so closely tied together? He introduces the perspective of studying music/media together by understanding generational preferences and habits.
Jerry’s interest in motivation and self-improvement led to the creation of NYU/Steinhardt’s “Stress-free Living and Working in the Music Industry” that he also teaches. The course focuses on unique mental health issues that face musicians and artists, mental health for performers, building resilience, managing digital life, the stress of internship and college life, performance anxiety and imposter syndrome to ultimately design a stress-free “Life Plan.”
He was a Dale Carnegie Course instructor for over a decade, the author of Out of Bad Comes Good – The Advantages of Disadvantages and publishes an empowering lifestyle publication, “DayStarters.”
He is the father of two children and with his wife, Cheryl, lives in Moorestown, NJ. He earned a B.S. degree in communications from Temple University.

*We’ve heard you and we want you back.
*We’re done sacrificing your long-term goodwill for our short-term gain, and we’re ready to make dramatic changes to prove we deserve you, your time and your business.
*Here’s how we’ll do it, starting today. Because with each passing day people just like you are deciding not to visit as often, or at all. Enough is enough.
*First, we’ll roll back parking fees. We screwed the pooch on that, and we apologize.
We’re also doing away with resort fees. Your room rate will go up a bit, but we’re done playing that game and Vegas room prices will continue to be some of the best values anywhere.
*Our pledge is simple: No more convenience fees, processing fees, CNF charges, venue fees and tap water fees. No, really, that was a thing. Sorry.
*In our casinos, we’re done changing the rules to squeeze every last penny out of you.
We’re doing away with 6-to-5 blackjack and triple zero roulette, for starters. We’re doing it whether or not you know why those things are bad for players, because Vegas needs to get back to being Vegas.
*Oh, and this straw ban is horseshit. We’ll find better ways to help the environment than annoying every customer who orders a cocktail.
*These are just a few of the things we’re changing to win you over all over again.
What happens in Vegas has never stayed in Vegas, and when you talk about us, we want you to say nice things.
*We’re not claiming Las Vegas will be cheap. It costs money to build shiny new things.
But we’re committed to providing value.
*Every day, we’re going to treat you like a person, not a number. We want you back.
We promise to listen more, nickel-and-dime less, and we’re fully prepared to ride the asses of those who don’t get why these changes are vital to making Las Vegas great, and a great value, again.

We see it in famous families, and not-so-famous families. It’s one thing to prioritize your wife, which you should, but when she is the source of the conflict, and he chose to marry her anyway, it’s often because the “man” has not made a healthy separation from his family, so he considers kowtowing to her and “no contact” as the only solution. Often there’s a better way….

Gallup recently conducted a poll on trust in media, and trust is at a 50 year low. Those results are positive in my opinion. Apparently, some people are starting to wake up to the reality that those we’re supposed to trust to bring us “news” cannot, in fact, be trusted. If one bit of good came out of the Covid pandemic, it might be that people have finally realized that our government officials lie, and worse, that so-called “journalists” go along with it.

Guy Nohra is the embodiment of the American dream. As a teenager, he fought in the Civil War in Lebanon. His parents extracted him from America when they found out what he was doing, and he became an American citizen. He also became a successful venture capitalist, helping startups that have made huge progress in the healthcare world.
Lately he’s been talking about how he sees the signs of simmering Civil War in some of the rhetoric and behavior in America. He joined me to talk about what he’s seeing and what he saw in Lebanon in the 70s, and how similar some of the rhetoric is. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what he had to say.

Freya India is a wonderful writer out of the UK. I believe she’s probably in her 30’s based on the issues she writes about so beautifully. Recently, I came across an especially powerful column of hers called “The Age of Abandonment”. She describes with incredible insight the feeling a lot of people of her generation have toward marriage. It’s not marriage they’re afraid of, it’s abandonment. They’ve never actually seen a successful marriage so they’re afraid to even give it a try. They’re afraid to criticize their parents so they criticize the institution of marriage. Very powerful. Worth reading. Please pass this along to anybody you think might benefit from it.

It’s come to light that Elon Musk has now produced a 13th child, with the fourth or fifth woman. She apparently is only coming forward because somebody in the media found out about it and was going to reveal it. The sad thing is it most conservatives don’t have a problem with this. A lot of liberals are trolling conservatives and making fun of this situation, asking, “Where are your family values?” and they’re exactly right.
Here’ why it’s my business: When you have people producing children with multiple partners all over the place, they’re clearly not going to be as sympathetic to family policies as they should be. Strong families make a strong nation. Strong families aren’t “whoever you wanna have a baby with this week” and “whatever ZIP code you live in this year”, and kids need more than a nice crib. Regardless of how much money you have, you’re never gonna make up for the fact that children are being raised in unstable situations. That’s bad for our nation. That’s bad for our WORLD.

I’ve noticed a lot of gnashing of teeth among people who are being purged as a result of what Elon Musk is doing with DOGE. I’m used to the private sector, where the boss can have a bad day and you’re out the door. No one should have a job they can’t lose, especially an inefficient government worker, and if you happen to be a government worker who is efficient, you should be happy that so many people are losing their jobs. The cream will ultimately rise to the top, right?

Wanna know why conspiracies start and continue to grow when tragic events occur? I’ll tell you why – because the facts of a case are intentionally obscured. As of this recording, two of the three helicopter pilots involved in the crash between the Blackhawk and the commercial aircraft in Washington DC have been identified, but not all three. Many people are speculating that the person actually controlling the Blackhawk could have been a transgender person, possibly depressed because of potentially being tossed out of the military or maybe simply unqualified from the start. We don’t really know the truth.
President Trump alluded to the possibility of this being a DEI situation in his press conference yesterday. Clearly, he knows more than we do about it, and until ALL the facts are presented conspiracies are going to grow. We’ve all learned that we cannot trust the mainstream media to tell us anything. We’ve also learned that when something occurs and it happens to have a transgender aspect, MSM will do cartwheels to prevent us from ever knowing that. If it’s not an angry white guy who is a Trump supporter committing a crime they don’t wanna talk about it. But we’re not fooled and we’re gonna stay on it.

What I learned from watching the RFK Junior hearing in the Senate was that the Senators want to keep the status quo. They’re not interested in anybody who’s asking legitimate questions about the health of Americans and why it’s so poor. They don’t want to talk about nutrition. They don’t want to talk about vaccines and whether or not they’re safe and/or causing health issues. They don’t want SOLUTIONS.
So many in the Senate have been compromised by Big Pharma that it was frankly sickening to watch. What we learned in the end was that nobody wants anything to change, and despite what Trump may want to accomplish, the special interests are so entrenched that I doubt he’s going to get very far, certainly when it comes to Health and Human Services.

I’m very excited to see Trump back, but we cannot get complacent. All of our problems aren’t going to be solved during his Presidency. We need to remember that, hold Trump and his cabinet accountable, and give everything to God. Our problems are spiritual not political. So while I do expect Trump to do a much better job for America than Kamala would, he’s not our savior.
Our nation has received a reprieve in my opinion. We deserved Kamala. We need to move forward spiritually, not just take a deep breath, relax, and go back to living our lives in violation of God’s precepts.

Nevada Governor Lombardo gave his state of the state speech last night in Nevada, where he outlined his objectives for the next legislative session, which begins here in a couple of weeks. I have no idea what he was actually proposing. There were very few specifics about anything. There was talk of things like “school choice”, but no details on legislation to give parents the ability to take their tax dollars and direct them toward private education for their children or anything that’s really concrete. The governor is trying to run for re-election obviously and he has a Democrat legislature to deal with. I do understand that, but he still needs to show leadership and propose conservative solutions to State of Nevada instead of trying to straddle the fence.

The City of Las Vegas is on the hook for screwing a developer out of his right to build on his land. Former City Councilman and CPA Bob Beers, the smartest guy to ever serve on the City Council in my opinion, warned the city ten years ago that they had no right to stop Yohan Lowie from developing his land the way he wanted to.
Now the City of Las Vegas has to pony up HUGE amounts, after numerous courts found them in error, and after they kicked the can down the road for ten years, socint tapers far more than they should have had to spend. What will the impact be for those of us living in the City or visiting the city?

Wade Bohn is a native Las Vegan and a business owner, whose business, Jay’s Market, has been drastically affected by the Formula 1 race, construction, and road blockages.The entire Strip looks TERRIBLE for more than 6 months, for a 90 minute race, and the business owners are really suffering during the construction.

“Dead Name” is a documentary recently produced by Taylor Reece. It documents the real-life struggles parents have when dealing with children who are lead to believe by others, sometimes teachers, parents, or online peers, that they were born “the wrong sex” and that somehow surgeries or medications are the remedy for anything that ails them.
This isn’t a Left or Right issue, it’s a RIGHT or WRONG issue and we need to put a stop to this.

A woman who worked from home was fired for not getting a Covid vaccine. She was denied a religious exemption by her employer Blue Cross Blue Shield, and has since been awarded $12 million by a jury. This is huge. I hope there are many more of these judgments to come.

As we head into what may be one of the most important elections of my lifetime, we have to keep in mind that our problems are spiritual. I believe things are rough because we have turned away from God and we are calling evil good and good evil. When we turn away from God, we tend to tolerate things we shouldn’t. As a result, our culture rots. We need to make the best possible decisions when voting for people, but at the end of the day we have to turn our attention, focus, trust to God, not politicians, to turn this country around and turn the world around.

I keep seeing and hearing people talking about “not going back”, especially postmenopausal women who are no danger of getting pregnant. I’m dying to know what it is they’re afraid to go back to. Lower gas prices? Housing you can afford? Groceries you can afford? I’m mystified. They are allowing their hatred of Trump to overshadow their own self-interests, or maybe it’s because they’re not really affected by Biden policies like we peasants are.

The Biden ministration has gone far beyond encouraging children to be affirmed and changing sex. Now health and human services are requiring foster homes to be “”affirming” to children who are struggling with their sexual identity.
And before you think that these are children who are already struggling with their identity, and therefore wound up in the foster care system, that’s not at all true. They interview very young children about their sexuality, ask them leading questions designed to confuse them, and then funnel them into “affirming” foster homes. It’s evil it’s wrong, and it will continue under a Kamala Harris administration.. There’s currently been a lawsuit filed by parents in Maryland against the Children’s Hospital that forced them to affirm their child and to remove the passages from their Bibles that disagreed with the transgender agenda. I’m not making that up. I wish I were.

Obviously this is never been the mission of the military and certainly shouldn’t be now. Christians must participate in the electoral process. We cannot sit it out because we don’t like the candidates. We only have human choices on the ballot, and we always have a better choice or a worse choice. We simply cannot sit home and not participate. We Christians are a huge force to be reckoned with and if we would only get together and let politicians know that we’ve had enough, it might actually make a difference. We have so much more power than we think.
At the end of the day you participate, you do all you can to make your community in your world better and leave the rest to God. God only expects you to do the best you can with what He gives you.

Caitlin Clark, the star rookie WNBA player, is being treated poorly by other players and even physically hurt by them because they’re jealous of her star power and endorsements. The WNBA is generally viewed as a league full of lesbians who don’t love America, and while that’s not entirely true or fair, people like Britney Griner have reinforced that belief.
The way Caitlin is being treated because she’s white, straight and devoid of controversy speaks volumes.
Now a player has come out and claimed Caitlin’s name is being used to promote misogyny, homophobia, and xenophobia, among other things, and that her “silence” is a “luxury”. Huh? How about encouraging some of the players who aren’t jealous, nasty witches to come out in defense of Caitlin? I guess their “silence” is a luxury, too.
Instead of being happy that a new player is bringing eyeballs to the game, they’re blowing an opportunity.

There’a new documentary on Netflix called “Dancing for the Devil, 7M and the Tik Tok cult” about a church/cult/talent management company, and the hold the pastor apparently has over its members’ lives and fortunes.
I have no idea what really goes on in that church, or whether the allegations are based on jealousy or anything else, but I have some advice about churchgoers who think they might be in a cult.
I attended a church for years that was very controlling, so I have experienced it firsthand. I have some advice for how to spot a cult. It’s not always easy, since the control “creeps” into your life, bit by bit. Please let make know about your experiences with this.

I saw a website today that was faith-based, and there was a banner featuring Lara Trump at the top. I don’t dislike her, but this was supposed to be a faith site. Should Christians be worshiping the Trumps? Too many seem to be. The fate of our nation does not rest in his hands.
What happens if Trump dies? Then who will they worship? Who will “save” the country? Here are my comments – I’d love to hear yours.

When those of us who love sports tune in, we look to those moments as an escape from politics and agendas, but we are hit over the head with everyone’s grievances, time and again. Many people have given up watching sports entirely for that reason.
Every June, sports teams feel like they have to mention something about gay pride, when in reality, sports are the least equitable organizations. If you can’t play, you don’t get in. How “exclusive” can you be?
Las Vegas Review Journal sportswriter Adam Hill had a column this week about the backlash some sports teams received when they posted about “pride month”. He’s a great writer and did a fantastic job covering the Superbowl, but I had to comment on this particular column. I can tell you all about backlash from the “tolerant” side of the aisle – I’ve LIVED it.

Agencies and professions benefit greatly from families that break up, or were never whole; lawyers, social workers, Big Pharma, often ultimately the penal system. If we’re voting GOP because we’re convinced that all our problems will be solved by another four years of Trump, we’re missing the point. If you believe Joe Biden is the source of all of our problems, think again. Politicians reflect our values, they don’t form them.
Maybe another term of Trump can improve the economy somewhat, but if all we want is lower prices on our “bread and circuses”, while continuing to turn away from God, we’re missing it.
We are “calling good evil and evil good” in America, and that goes much deeper than the person occupying the White House.

It’s sad to see how badly affected the middle class is by all the inflation and horrible legislation, but it’s clearly purposeful. We’re the pesky ones, the ones who (generally) can’t be bossed around. The ones who (mostly) think for ourselves and question our “leaders”. They are out to destroy us.
Young people today often have zero hope of having anywhere near the prosperity that their parents had, and many Boomers I know are counting on an inheritance as the only thing that will save them in their old age. And, they’re worried about helping their adult children survive!
That’s a bad formula for the continued survival of the middle class.

A veteran police officer and tactics expert and police trainer joined me to talk about the Tyre Nichols case. Marcus Martin spent 24 years as a Las Vegas police officer, a city that sees 40 million tourists come into town each year, beyond the over 2 million residents. Las Vegas Metro Police deal with all kinds of situations.
Marcus is an expert in several martial arts, and continues to train new officers. I asked him to join me for his perspective on the Tyre Nichols case, and how police handled it. We also touched on the Derek Chauvin case involving George Floyd, and some aspects of the case I hadn’t heard.
We also discussed the problem of police officers who aren’t trained or not in shape, and therefore not able to subdue someone humanely in many cases.

A recent study confirms that so-call “deaths of despair” – deaths due to alcoholism, drug use, poor lifestyle choices – which tend to be higher in middle-aged white men, tend to be lower in states with more church participation. We need community. And we need God. Even if you don’t care about God, at least make the time to build some community, start a club, add something to someone else’s life. It just might enhance and lengthen yours.

Baby Will is a baby in New Zealand who needs heart surgery, and his parents are asking that he receive blood from an unvaxxed person. That is easy to accomplish, yet New Zealand has TAKEN this baby from his parents, in order to do the heart surgery, and getting blood from who-knows-who. Outrageous. If NBC had half a brain, they would make the 2018 Olympics far easier to access. I downloaded the NBC Sports app, thinking it would help. But the APP is useless, because they want you to have a CABLE provider to access their Olympics coverage. With all the millions of cord cutters, (including me), they are losing millions of eyes, yet again.
The most basic rule of marketing is to make it as easy to use your product as possible. The days of everyone waiting 8 hours after an event to watch truncated prime time coverage of ANY sport, (when we already know the results) are OVER. Sorry Katie – no one cares.
Anyone under 40 never had to wait to watch cartoons or anything else as a child. They popped a VHS or DVD in whenever they wanted to see something. They don’t even comprehend “prime time” TV as our parents defined it.
And of course NBC will blame the time difference for the lack of viewership. You need to play by MY rules as a consumer or lose me.
NBC should hire some 30 year-olds to program the network. THEY understand how real people consume media these days.

Megyn Kelly is an example of many things, the main one being that the people who hired her didn’t understand the changing dynamics of her fan base, and now want to blame HER for what’s happening to her show. THEY should have known that the people on the right no longer like her, the left never accepted her, and those are the people watching daytime TV! If the show goes down in flames, bully on THEM.
What she asked Jane Fonda months ago about plastic surgery was fair, and so was her response to Jane’s outrage, but now NBC execs are hanging Megyn out to dry, because they’re afraid of Jane Fonda!
The NBC execs have blown this again. Remember how much they paid Conan O’Brien to go away? I’ll remind you – $40 million.

For ONCE the Senate Republicans played hardball, stood up to the left and got them to back down on the government shutdown with no assurances of anything in return. It’s a HUGE win for the GOP, because they are usually back on their heels, on the defensive. Trump gave them the courage they seemed to have lost in the past, by blaming the government shutdown on Senator Schumer.
Now the Dems are fighting among themselves. They’ve not won the war, but the skirmish goes to the GOP! Well done, Trump administration!
