A viral video of a KNUST student crying his heart out has made the boy popular and the name Nana Ama synonymous with broken heart in Ghana.
The boy identified as Sammy cheated on his girlfriend with a first-year student. Sammy shared his good news to his friends and one of them leaked it to his serious girlfriend named as Nana Ama.

Part time actress and full time slay queen Moesha Buduong claims the current dire state of the Ghana movie industry is a results of the attitudes and what made acceptable by the veteran actors such as Kofi Adjorlolo, Grace Omaboe, David Dontoh and the rest.
The young actress is on record to have said that producers refusing to pay actors for their services is as a result of bad foundation laid by the pioneer actors.
“I would want to talk based on my experience in the industry, all the things coming out now is as a result of what those who came before us did. They were happy just being on the screens and did not see the need to be paid for their works” she said.
In the interview with graphic showbiz, she continued that “Today, they have realised the money is not coming so they are calling out producers. Because they did not see the need to take money for work done, producers also saw no need to pay and that has been the trend for so long”.

Over the past 10 years, the wings of Afrobeat has spread beyond the shores of Africa and the rooms of Nigerians and Ghanaians.
The Nigerians dominate the Afrobeat scene and seem to produce new artist on a yearly basis. 2 Face Idibia, P Square, Flavour and Wande Coal were all home name artists before the likes of Tekno, Teni, Yemi Alade, Davido, Burna Boy and Mr Eazi came on the scene. Many of these artists have had huge songs which continue to get mayor air play in most homes and parties. P Square’s song “no one like you” was a wedding song for several years and with many African kids getting conceived to 2face’s African Queen. Dbanj’s “Oliver Twist” was played on international platforms, with mega stores like Selfridges in London playing the song in their store. Davido’s “if” song has had over 100M views on YouTube and Tekno’s “Pana” getting 121M views as well.
Ghanaian Afrobeat artist on the other hand leaves more to be desired. The past 10 years have not produced many artists which could progress the Afrobeat scene in Ghana.
Sarkodie, Castro, Ruff and Smooth and R2Bees flew the flag for Ghana with Sarkodie the only one still relevant today. Ebony Reign’s was one artist who was ready to carry the burden but unfortunately left the game prematurely. Kwame Eugene, Kidi and King Promise are trying their best, but these artists are not on the level of their Nigerian counterparts.
Fuse ODG is one of the few artists if not the only one who has made Ghana Afrobeats international. The artist has had some huge tracks which broke grounds for the genre. Sarkodie continue to release songs and recently had a song with movie actor Idris Elba but the international appeal of Fuse ODG dwarfs that of Sark.
Maybe one of these days an artist will rise in Ghana like Burna Boy did in Nigeria, who will promote and make Ghana Afrobeat relevant again.

The Nigerian movie industry and the millions of dollars it makes still continue to produce trash movies. Even though the picture and sound qualities have improve significantly, the story lines and the acting remain mediocre at best.
It is a shame that the rich stories from the country is not told but rather a repeat of the rich kid trying to marry a poor kid story is continuously told. The Juju and blaming misfortunes on the work of the devil or spiritual interference is the story of the day with the occasional armed robbery or slay queen/ashawo story sprinkled here and there.
Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola, Mercy Johnson, Kanayo Kanayo, Pater Edochie, Ramsey Noah and Desmond Elliot have all tried to raise the bar in Nollywood but it seem the bar didn't shift by much.
As for the Ghanaian movie scene, it is worse than a kid's project on YouTube. Ghallywood is so bad that Ghanaians refuse to support it. Entertainment from movies to music originating from Ghana has never been supported in Nigeria with many of the top acts in music getting ignored in Nigeria. The likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale who are the top artists in Ghana do not get airplay on many Nigerian radio stations and TV meanwhile an average Nigerian artist will enjoy a lot of airtime in Ghana.

8th of February marked the 2nd anniversary of the death of Ghanaian female musician Ebony Reign. The tragic and unfortunate demise of her brought an end to a very promising career. A woman is suing popular Ghanaian comedian and actor Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng popular known as Funny Face for dumping her. According to the woman, the comedian promised her marriage but did not follow through after several years of dating. The woman who lives in the US said the comedian took several monies from her but she never asked for it because they were still in a relationship.
The court papers showed Funny face took 50,000 USD from the woman during the relationship, money the woman is demanding back.
The comedian released a video on his social media saying his lawyers are on the case and that he will be vindicated.
Funny Face is not the first male celebrity to have taken money from a woman while promising them marriage. Frank Artus, John Dumelo and even Van Vicker have all been accused before. A Muslim cleric and chief Imam of a mosque in Ugandan has mistakenly married a man thinking he was a woman. The Iman who confided in another Imam about not being able to consummate their marriage. He claimed that on their wedding night the wife said she was on her menses.
The true identity of the wife was revealed when their neighbours accused her of stealing. When police arrested her, they found out she was actually a man dressed in women's clothes.
The Imam said he wasn't aware he was married to a man but that has not gone down well with most people online. On social media, many Ugandans have mocked the imam as a suspected homosexual who is not being truthful.

In Ghana two Nigerians were recently arrested for trafficking women from Nigeria to the capital Accra for prostitution. Legalising and legitimatising the profession will eliminate the middle men therefore making it safer for the ladies and the men that work in these fields.

A Kenyan pastor killed his wife in church and slashed his own throat afterwards in a murder suicide. The man of God is said to have separated from the wife for over a year but have been in dispute with her over who would lead the church.
It was reported that the wife had gone to the registrar to remove the husband's name as co-leader of the church.
During the Sunday service, the pastor walked over to the wife and pulled a knife from his jacket. He proceeded to stab her a couple of times before stabbing himself in the stomach and slashing his own throat.
He died in the church while the wife died later in a hospital.

The BBC in conjunction with Private Eye released a documentary about sex for grades in two of the most prestigious universities in West Africa namely University of Ghana (UG), Legon in Ghana and University of Lagos (UNILAG) in Nigeria. The claim Universities in Nigeria and Ghana have been plagued by stories of sexual harassment by lecturers and professors for decades. Allegations include a wide array of abuses, from blackmailing students for sex in exchange for marks and admission to lewd comments and grooming.
The documentary used undercover reports to show lecturers propositioning potential students for sex. Dr Boniface of UNILAG and Prof Gyampo of UG were the key culprits caught on camera. Prof Gyampo denies the allegation and claims that he will sue the BBC while Dr Boniface who is also a pastor is said to have attempted suicide following the release of the documentary.
A leaked document of the new curriculum to be thought to Kids as young as 6 years old in Ghana was leaked into the public and the outrage that followed has engulfed the whole country. The document called Comprehensive Sexual Education is reported to be part of a move by the ministry of education to teach students about different sexual identities and homosexual behaviours. Many religious groups and their leaders came out to speak against it with one leader referring to the document as Comprehensive Satanic Education. The chief Iman also spoke against the introduction of this into the national curriculum.

The Nigerian police force has called out the Nigerian army for killing two undercover policemen. The policemen who were escorting a known criminal to police custody were stopped by the army. According to the Naija police spokesman, the army unloaded their guns on these policemen even though they showed their ID to them as policemen. The criminal who was travelling with the police is yet to be found and the army claim to not know his whereabout. Soldiers in Nigeria are arresting people with dreadlock and beating them up in Abia State. The victims who were given no reason by the soldiers for their arrest and physical abuse also had their locks cut. According to the Nigerian army, they are aware of these brutalities and are looking into it.
According to Punchng.com the soldiers are blindfolding these people and taking them to an unknwon locations where they are given severe beatings and their dreads or locks cut before returning them to where they picked them from without giving them a reason for their acts.
The spokesperson for the Lagos police force stated that a man with dreadlocks or tattoos is most likely to be arrested. This month saw the unfortunate incident of three canadian girls getting abducted/kidnapped in Ghana West Africa. The case which was swiftly dealt with resulting in the girls being found within a week has lead to a lot of people praising the security agencies in the country. Prior to the kidnapping and rescueing of these girls from Canada, some Ghanaian girls below the age of 17 have been kidnapped/missing for more than a month and the security agencies haven't being able to present anything that shows they are actually trying to find them. As a matter of fact, they kept lying to the general public with the head of CID claiming at one point that they knew where the girls were and the girls will be returned to their families soon. This woman is still in office and recently had to apologise for that.

The pressures of being a man and especialy a father has caused many men to lose their lives but still men and fathers are it seem are not appreciated /valued in our society. They are regarded as second class citizens within the family and usually not given room to even get things wrong. Most children/families do not consider the father beyond his monetary contributions and most times will not involve them in other aspects of things unless it has to do with money.
Father's day is trivialised and most father's recieve barely anything and if they do recieve something, it is a nonsense of a gift in most occasions.

The plight affecting Ghana, Nigeria and Africa as a whole seem to be caused in majority of the time by ourselves. Although the continent has suffered from a lot of injustice and it could be argued that we as Africans are still suffering from the effects of these injustices, we are more aware of these situations and clearly should be doing better. Recently a video surfaced of two Ghanaian women throwing rubbish into the streets while it was raining in the country's capital Accra. This is the same place where drainage is an issue and cholera, malaria and flooding is a yearly plight but these two still decided to compound it with their actions. The Chinese ambassador to Ghana said it perfectly when people tried to placed the problem of illegal mini aka galamsey sorely at the doorsteps of the Chinese by asking how did the Chinese find out about the gold? Ghanaians and most Africans abroad prevents each other from prgressing and some women are ready to lie to send their partners to prison or prevent them from being part of the lives of their chldren even though the importance of having both parents in your life is well documented.

There has been a huge rise in the number of men in Africa who choose to end their lives and the majority of them are men between the ages of 25 years and 35 years. The reasons for suicide is wide and a study in Ghana revealed that the three major causes of suicide in the country are Poverty, Shame and struggles with masculinity. Male suicide is not just prevalent in Africa but the world as a whole. The Wahaala Boys take a crack at understanding the reasons behind the increase in young men commiting suicide in Ghana, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
A lot of Ghanaian, Nigerian and African women in general claim most men demand sex before doing anything for them. Some claim that even at a job interview, the interviewer will want to sleep with you before offering you the job while university lecturers are known for exchanging grades for sex. Ghanaian actress Rosemond Brown aka Akuapem Poloo has responded to the man claiming to be the father of her son that he should look for someone else such as prostitutes to impregnate if he is looking for a child. Can your partner be good friends with their EX is a question that most people might say no to but reality wise they are probably good friends with their own exes. On Valentines day, Ghanaian afrobeat artist and dancehall musician Shatta Wale took to his instagram page to wish his ex happy valentine and also talk about how much he cares for her. This act coming from a guy who is engaged to be married soon could be percieved as problematic in many peoples view. A lot of people frown on people communicating with their ex partners and although it can at times be dismissed as just jealousy, is it more than that? Ghanaian dancehall artist Kakie who has had major hits and have songs with other popular Ghanaian musicians in the industry such as Samini revealed that the music industry is very difficult and even though she is an established artist, she still struggles. Some of the male artists have said in the past that they needed sugar mummies to sponsor their studio times and some of the female artists such as sister Afia is rumoured to sleep with men to sponsor their lifestyles. Ghanaian Afrobeat singer Becca got married recently and in less than 9 months has given birth to a baby girl. This has made people question the reason why the Ghanaian musician got married to her Nigerian husband. The obvious reason to many people for her marriage was to cover her pregnancy and prevent the "shame" associated with having children outside wedlock. This is a common thing among most West Africans and families are known to encourage their children to get married once pregnancy exist. Ghanaian actor John Dumelo also found himself in a similar situation last year when he got married and within 7 months the wife had a child. The Wahaala Boys ask, should you get married because you got pregnant? Is it about time we stopped shamming people into getting married simply because of a pregnancy or should families be protected at all cost?

The wicked stepmother narrative is nothing new to most people and if it is, all you have to do is watch a Nollywood or Ghanaian movie to see what can transpire when children are raised by their stepmothers. One such incident happened in Ghana when a kid had his hand cut with a cutlass by the stepmother. Long story short the kid has lost an arm because the parents didn't treat the wound. This kid lived in the same house with the father and how the father can allow such thing to happen under his watch can't be comprehended but that seems to be the norm. According to the girls, the idea of a house wife is degrading to women and women should not subscribe to that since it is a man's way of controlling them. The Ghana celebrities editor argues that why would any woman choose to work if their partner is happy to support them financially? The artist deemed the act disrespectful to his brand and Afrobeat as whole. The truth is the likes of BET has always disrespected Afrobeat artists. Fuse ODG accused them of not letting Afrobeat artists perform on stage on the award nights and it is well known that awards were given to winners back stage or in an empty auditorium although that has changed after years of outcry. Christmas is still a big deal in many countries and for most children it is heaven on earth. Christmas in Africa especially West Africa is the biggest party of the year from food to music. The maltreatment of African house helps in the Middle East has caused a lot of outrage among most Africans and rightly so but we at Wahaala wanted to shed light on the plight of our local house helps or maids. The stories you hear from our Cameroonian and Ghanaian sisters who went to Kuwait, Jordan and some other middle eastern countries is just sad. From tales of rape, physical abuse and forced imprisonment, these women suffer a lot on the hands of their employees but are their struggles and experiences very different from the maids back in their countries? The number of prostitutes in Ghana is increasing especially girls from Nigeria. The Ghanaian police has started to crack down on several prostitution rings especially those from other African countries. The police have arrested four (4) Nigerian women believed to be trafficking young women from Nigeria to Ghana to work as prostitutes. According to some of the young women, they were promised jobs in the city but forced into prostitution the moment they reach Ghana. The police claim the parents of these ladies knew their kids were being taken to Ghana therefore the question then become, "why are these families allowing their children to go?" Is it because of greed? Several places such as circle (in Accra) and Adum in Kumasi are noted for prostitution and the Wahaala boys have been there to witness these ladies of the night in action. It seems like a lot of men regardless of the country they come from in Africa can't cook. Whether the man is Ghanaian, Nigerian, Kenyan, South African or even Ugandan, being able to prepare a simple meal seem to be a huge challenge to them. Two ladies who visited their male friend abroad saw the kind of chicken soup he had prepared. These women filmed the soup and it showed clearly the struggles of most African men in the kitchen. The head of the chicken was still attached to the neck and the chicken feet still had nails. There was some feathers still on the chicken and basically all in all it was a shambles. It is a common trend among most Africans especially Ghanaians and Nigerians to get married after getting pregnant regardless of whether they are interested in the other person. Majority of the people do it to save face and to hide the fact they got pregnant out of wedlock. Ghanaian celebrity and movie actor John Dumelo is said to have done a similar thing. There is a notion that it could be punishment for the sins of the parents or the kids were from a river god. In Kenya, a recent research by disability international revealed that over 40 percent of mothers with disabled kids were encouraged to commit infanticide. One woman was told to give the child acid. A BBC documentary tagged Ghana as the worse place to be disabled in the world. It is a common sight in most African churches to see disabled people being prayed for and the "curses" removed to free them from the grips of evil spirits that has made them suffer these disabilities be it mental or physical. It seems like the idea of a husband material is changing for African women with majority of the men confused about what it is that women really want. Once upon a time the fact that you were capable of providing for her was enough to be a good husband but today the goal post have been shifted so much that it is no longer in the park. A Surgeon in Ghana recently had a list of celebrities that he has worked on leaked and the list included actresses Jocelyn Dumas, Moesha Budoung and Princess Shyngle. Women enhancing their bodies is nothing new but it seem like a lot of women are going for a particular look whuch is the small waiste and big bum. Brazilian bum lift (BBL) is the new craze and although multiple health practioners have warned of the dangers of BBL, it is still very popular. Youtuber Nella Rose in her own video admited to nearly going ahead with a BBL surgery but pulled out in the last minute. Anyway we at Wahaala are asking, are women getting these surgeries to please men or for themselves?
A researcher who appeared as guest on the room mate podcast claimed that reserach shows women cheat more than men. She went ahead to say that in her practise this was true and that while men might cheat, the reason isn't because they are not in love with partners any more but for most women, they cheat because they no longer love their partners. Majority of African women play games especially during the early stages of the relationship therefore sending mixed signals to the guys. The games some women play include sending their girlfriends to "test" you or making their male friend pretend to be their partner or ex. some will intentionally let you see a risque text just to get you jealous or to arouse a reaction out of you. CNN news network continued with their disrespect of most things African during the recent interview with Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji. The presenter Richard Quest started off by question the quality of the movies produced in Nigeria. After repeatedly calling the industry low budget and low quality, he claimed that two tins of can and a string is better in terms of qaulity than the numerous movies made in Nollywood. He also questioned her expertise on directing the movie and also how she funded the movie. Genevieve on the other hand failed to defend the industry that she is part off. There is a common notion that Ghanaian or Nigerian women abroad are not like the ones back in Africa. The African women back home are more "decent" and cultured than the Africans living in the United States or United Kingdom (UK). People have gone back to Ghana, Nigeria, Congo, Kenya or South Africa to get partners because of the notion that these women make bad wives. The question then become, is there really a difference when people get married and stay back home compared to when they get married and stay abroad?
A lot of us Africans (Ghanaians, Nigerians, Kenyans, South African etc) always pretend to have it all or act like we are living some extravagant lives abroad when we go back to our countries for holidays. We show off and act big meanwhile majority are doing menial jobs such as cleaning and security. These are honest jobs therefore why can't we honest about our lives abroad to our families back home? Why do we use credit cards. borrow and save all year just to gohome for 2 weeks and live a life of lie?
