28: This week's episode has me thinking about some things that have come up for me during therapy over the last two weeks. What if I wanted to change my career at 35 years old? Am I too old? Is one career change too many? Am I fulfilled? I get to the bottom of how to think through that internal questioning and check-in with yourself, as well as the role of luck in making any career a success. 014: In Part 4 of Race in America, I try to find the courage to push back against the extremes of societal belief. This is an episode from and of the heart. It's about looking at America today, trying to see its potential and move past the noise, the viral disagreements, and try to form my own opinion about what's needed to find common ground again. It's about nuance. It's a call to action for Americans to once again find deep thinking after the anger. It's a call to move towards rational political action instead of the intense focus on the more performative and lazy versions of activism that just require an Instagram account. 012: In Part 3 of Race in America, I come up for some metaphorical air and switch gears to think about how the human mind works. I'm experiencing the rage, the anger, the disappointment and a slew of emotions that so many people are as well. But, I've also felt one of my special contributions to the fight would be to get under the hood a little - read between the lines and look towards the bigger picture from a healed perspective. Anger is such a useful tool, and it is important that it gets expressed. The question for me is how to I use that momentum, how to I convert all that energy into something actionable? How can I use my knowledge and understanding of human behavior to give people actionable steps for the tough conversations they're bound to have, hopefully, for the rest of their lives until we stamp out racism?
I'm doing that with the help of psychologists Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman. Two men that contributed so much to the field of psychology and behavior. Today's episode will cover a couple different heuristics and cognitive biases and attempt to provide a couple suggestions for how to push against their effects to be a more effective communicator to someone not on the side of racial equality and justice. This episode also features some recordings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. I'm using their voices as a way for you to connect with this fight the last time the fight was so explosive, but also to paint a picture. That picture is that even our greatest leaders had disagreement with how we would achieve our collective ends. Secretly, I'm also trying to prime you one way or another. You'll understand what that means if you listen all the way through.

002: I talk a simpler form of budgeting for spenders and savers alike. There was no choice but to revisit emergency funds because right now is literally the storm. It's advice we all should have followed prior to the coronavirus pandemic, and advice we sure won't forget once this is behind us. There's a small case study on investing in "single name" stock using Delta as our guinea pig because I'm all about transparency and sharing my own behaviors. Plus, a little message about self-reflection and self-alignment in uncertain and isolating times.
