Our first 80s film with Harrison Ford! We take a look at this non-Indiana Jones, non-Han Solo film where he has to play a flawed genius, focusing only on himself and his desire to be accepted.
We do our best to lighten a dark film but, inevitably, come back to praising the acting talent on River Phoenix.
The next film will be a comedy - trust me!
In our second attempt since the move to video, the audio suffers a bit despite the headset usually being ok - back to the microphone next time so apologies for the quality of Charles (the sound, not the content)
We take a look at this charming youth(!) comedy which is a warm up for When Harry Met Sally (although much better than that) starring the quite marvellous John Cusack and wonder at his ability to shotgun a beer.

Kicking off Season 4 where the theme is 'Misc', Charlie thought he'd played it safe by bringing a film that was just behind 'Crocodile Dundee' in box-office takings in 1986 but also becuase it starred Amanda's 'unofficial boyfriend' Robert Downey Jr.
How wrong Charlie was.....
This sweary extravaganza sees Robert De Niro as a bounty (not deer) hunter taking Charles Grodin back to LA for breaking his bail.
There are planes, trains and (yes) automobiles but this is not that kind of movie.
In our last episode of Season 3, we discuss De Niro's 4 strands of acting, Charlie decides his rose-tinted spectacles obviously need a clean and we look forward to Season 4.

We take a look at this classic (or is it?) horror film that is considered genre-defining and we talk about things such as Wes Craven's genius, whether Nancy is the killer (or at least, in on it) and Johnny Depp's acting prowess .
With this action comedy, starring Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal, Charlie regrets using his rose-tinted glasses (again) as he expects more from the film.

We take a look at what is considered to be Jean Claude Van Damme's breakout movie but, of course, we dispute that.
It has an Oscar winner hiding in there somewhere, a pair of inept cops, a reporter who has forgotten how to investigate a story, a fighting contest that becomes a tourist attraction, a guy that develops deep a lasting friendships in just under 4 days and a lot of JVCD doing the splits.
Directed by John Carpenter, this is considered to be a classic but, whoa there, Charlie and Amanda might have other ideas.
Starring Kurt Russell, Donald Pleasance, Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Issac Hayes, Adrienne Barbeau and Harry Dean Stanton, this paints a dystopian vision of the future (which is actually our past).
We marvel at the lack of CGI, considering this was post-Star Wars, wonder where the eye patch came from and also if it has any parallels with what's going on today.
Oh, and we get allegory and metaphor mixed up (but definitely know the meaning of irony).
