GET MOVING:* Treasure Falls is 15 miles east of Pagosa, located right off the 160. This 105 foot waterfall was named Treasure Falls after a local legend about "a treasure of gold" buried in the mountain from Frenchman back in the late 1700s when they were on Spanish-turf at the time. While you can see the falls from the parking lot, you should take the 0.5 mile hike up to the viewing deck for exceptional views of the raging falls and a fair warning, you will get wet out on the view deck! * Take a walk along the river downtown! The San Juan River Walk in downtown Pagosa Springs is an easy, flat 2 mile walk with picturesque mountain views and great family photo spots. You can park right across the river from the Springs Resort or by the visitor center to hop on the trail.

GET COFFEE:* Root House - a perfect coffee shop in my opinion. Fabulous drinks, pastries and curated gifts.

GET SHOPPING:* Antiques on Main

GET FOOD:* Two Chicks & A Hippie - Get the Skier is biscuits and gravy, smothered in green chili. GET OUT OF HERE SO GOOD! * Kips Grille - Get the smothered green chili cheeseburger.

GET INSPIRED:Chimney Rock National Monument is marked by an odd-shaped, skinny rock mound perched atop a narrow mesa. Here, you will find thousands of acres of artifacts and archaeological remnants from the Ancestral Puebloans who used to live here. See ancient buildings, an underground kiva, a pit house, and homes. Chimney Rock is one of the nation's newest national monuments. It is considered sacred and still has spiritual meaning to many tribes.

  • Look for the Chimney Rock Full Moon Program, where visitors can watch the full moon rise at the Great House Pueblo site to the live sounds of the Native American flute.

GET TOURISTY:The Springs Resort and Spa

  • There are a multitude of hot springs in Pagosa Springs, with the most popular being The Springs Resort right off the San Juan River in downtown Pagosa Springs. The Springs Resort hosts 25 hot springs pools and a day pass will cost you $50/person.
  • But if you just want to soak in a free hot spring, you will find TWO just waiting for you in the San Juan River. Park your car by the visitor center and walk about 50 feet down to the San Juan River where you will see two hot springs just below the bridge. You can relax as long as you like while enjoying the view! Bring a robe to take it to the next level.

Disney is a beast.

Such a FUN beast though!

I went 3 years ago with my kids for the first time and worked for 6 months booking all our reservations and fast passes. I had a very elaborate spreadsheet.

This past October we went back and we did it right - WITH A TRAVEL AGENT.

It changed my life. Why haven’t I been using one of these for all of my travels?!

Stefanie Roberts is the best and I invited her to hop in my car and so we could share our best tips.

We talk about why you should use her, what its like going with COVID and all our favorite spots.

Instead of a BEST DAY we did our FAVORITES:

FAVORITE POOL
FAVORITE HOTEL
FAVORITE RESTAURANT
FAVORITE PARK
FAVORITE RIDE
FAVORITE SNACK
AND WHAT NOT TO MISS!

I’m feeling weird.

Last year I had gone to pick up our rented RV and then the shut down happened that day.

And we cancelled our trip. Remember when THAT was the most disappointing thing in the world!

It’s so weird to be a such different person a year later! We have been through so much.

I watch these videos and feel so weird in my body. I remember feeling so scared.

You can feel things moving in the opposite direction with things opening back up and people getting their vaccines and now THAT feels hard.

But alas, we have another Spring Break upon us and it feels like people go one of two ways:

It’s either the beach or the mountains.

And I took a poll on Instagram and, according to you guys - ITS THE BEACH!

So picked my favorite beach - 30a!

I have wanted to visit this beautiful place for so long. I’m so grateful that I got to get away for a few days.

I flew into Flagstaff and rented a car. I agonized over where to stay because there are so many fabulous spas and Airbnbs.

In the end, because I was traveling alone, I decided on a basic hotel (The Sedona Rouge Hotel). It felt safe and I wasn’t looking to spend a lot of time at the spa. I wanted to hike. I will definitely come back for a more romantic trip and stay in a nicer place. I loved the location and that my room had a fire place.

I did try the spa for a treatment and it was very nice. I also got a quick shoulder rub at Sedona’s New Day Spa and loved it.

It’s so important to think through your trip and what you want to get out of it. That can be such a great guide when you are overwhelmed with all of the choices.

GET MOVING:West Fork Trail - I got there super early (6:30 am) and I’m so glad I did in order to have it to myself.

GET COFFEE:Coffee Pot Restaurant
Creekside Coffee - a rose latte, a drip and a breakfast sandwich

GUYS! Welcome to the first installment of ALL THE BEST DAYS….ON THE ROAD!

The kids are whining and Michael doesn’t have any sunglasses. Fantastic.

We just got back from the first leg of our summer travels - which we fondly refer to as our SUMMER FUNBAG. We like to call it that because we travel quickly and spontaneously and we never really know whats in our bag of tricks. ITS A FUNBAG! Does that stress so many of you out?! Haha!

I love a quick trip and the reason road tripping works for me is because I can have a ton of little quick trips in one big long trip!

Driving to Colorado from Dallas doesn’t offer a lot of fun stops the way other road trips might. Like the east coast or something.

I’m so excited to insist you make a pit stop in CANYON, TEXAS if you are driving west through Texas. It is so worth the detour from Amarillo.

Now here’s the thing about the travel flow that we use in each episode and on all of our trips.

We don't necessarily get to EVERYTHING on the list. Nor are we able to do everything in the same order all the time. Those are just our anchor points to grab when we find ourselves in a place. What can we do here that fits the things we love.

CANYON, TEXAS

We stayed at the Canyon Casita on Airbnb and it was so great.

And the location was perfect for you to:

Get the best donut of your life!!

BEST DONUT: Donut Stop

GET COFFEE: Palace Coffee Company

GET TOURISTY at Palo Duro Canyon.

And then it was straight to BRECKENRIDGE, COLORADO.

We got some magical snow one day and then we…

GOT MOVING: we did two hikes that we loved - SAPPHIRE POINT and HOOSIER PASS

GET COFFEE: you guys, COOL RIVER COFFEE HOUSE was my jam.
We went as often as we could. I get very attached to a coffee house when I stay in a place for a while.
It’s next to the river which makes for such a perfect spot to sit and chill.

GET SHOPPING: Some of my favorite shops we hit on Main Street were:

MARIGOLDS FARMHOUSE FUNK & JUNK

VINTAGE SWEET & CHIC

MAGICAL SCRAPS BOUTIQUE

GET LUNCH: BLUE RIVER BISTRO

GET INSPIRED: listening to the river and staring at the mountains EATING MOUNTAIN TOP COOKIE SHOP COOKIES

GET TOURISTY: ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK. You realize you have never seen mountains before when you see these jokers.
We saw a baby moose you guys! And we became Junior Rangers. What more could you want?

We stopped in GRAND LAKE VILLAGE afterwards and had the best dinner and homemade ice cream at MIYAUCHI’S SNACK BAR to finish out the day. Grand Lake is the cutest little town!
