Welcome Home! Kicking off this new school year we wanted to begin with the importance of building a spiritual home. SM Director Nick Mercer spoke from Matthew 7:13-20,24-27. We talked about how Jesus is the foundation we build our lives on and as we build our spiritual homes on that foundation, we need to build by knowing, doing, and living within God's will.

We talked about how Jesus is our foundation and as we dive into what building our spiritual home looks like, we need to build with the right foundation, the right materials, and with the right perspective.

This week, SM Director Nick Mercer spoke from Proverbs 4:5-9, 20-23 as we wrap up this series on understanding Biblical wisdom and bringing it into our daily life.

2024 Winter Retreat talk 2. SM Director Nick Mercer spoke on the theme "Light in the Darkness" and we looked at Nicodemus in John 3 as he sought Jesus out, but he came at night. We explored where we, like Nicodemus, hide in the darkness and ultimately how Jesus Christ came to be the light in that darkness for us!
2024 Winter Retreat talk 1. SM Director Nick Mercer spoke on the theme "Light in the Darkness" and we looked at Nicodemus in John 3 as he sought Jesus out, but he came at night. What does it mean for me?

Student Ministry Director Nick Mercer ended our advent study in Hebrews 1:1-9 by looking at how Jesus fulfilled the role of King and how all three roles of Prophet, Priest, and King that Jesus fulfills are the roles that connect us to God! This summer we have been diving 'Into the Wilderness' to explore how God meets us when we are tired, or lost, or wandering, just as He met the Israelites in Exodus. This week Nick Mercer finished the series by looking at Exodus 18 and looking at Moses and his father-in-law Jethro, and their example of what to do when you are feeling alone in the wilderness.

This summer we have been diving 'Into the Wilderness' to explore how God meets us when we are tired, or lost, or wandering, just as He met the Israelites in Exodus. This week we have Elijah McGrath one of our summer interns speaking from Exodus 16 and looking at the Israelites and their relationship with God's provision of the Manna from Heaven.

Welcome back to Summer Nights, our weekly SM night for the summertime for all Rising 6th -12th graders! This week, (7.21.22) Luke Clark talked about the Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13:1-9 and looked at how we are like the 4 different places that the seed landed on, but if we Focus on our Faith, Find Friends along the way, and Face our Fears we can be like the good soil and our relationship with Jesus can grow!
We are taking a break for the rest of the summer but will be back in the fall!

We are starting a new series called "Suprise the World" where are going to look at 5 habits of missional people. This week at SM Night, Nick kicked off the series by looking at what does it mean to live a questionable life before we dive into the 5 habits in subsequent weeks.

Nick spoke from Luke 23 about the attitudes of the people who were at the cross when Jesus was killed and how we can learn from them as we learn about why that event they witness was so important.

Nick (Student Ministry Director) kicks off our new SM Night series "Look Up" where we will be looking at this theme that is present in Luke's Gospel of those around Jesus and Jesus himself often "looking up" during moments of prayer, during miracles, and during Jesus' baptism, death, resurrection, and ascension. This week we looked at Jesus' baptism in Luke 3 and answered the question of where in our lives do we get stuck looking when we should be looking up at Jesus?

Brett started a new series B.N.O.C. - Big Names of Christianity by looking at the life of David chronicled in 1 and 2 Samuel and how he was a great example of how we must stop focusing on our righteousness and continually place our focus on God's righteousness.

Nick wrapped up our We're All Thinking It Series by looking at Identity and the question "what difference can I make?" We looked at 1 Corinthians 3:4-9 and how Paul's agricultural metaphor helps us to see that we are invited into God's Story for the world and that we are to align our story with His.

We're All Thinking It Week 2: This week we are looking at belonging! Nick looked at the question "where do I fit?" and how Jesus' answer to that question is we belong with God and in community with God's people. We looked at Jesus and his disciples in John chapter 13 and learned that we belong with the God who wants to be with us and we belong with a community of God's people that serves, shares, and surrenders.

New Series Alert! Alana kicks off our new series, "We're All Thinking It" by looking at Identity and the question "who am I?" She looked at the story of feeding the 5,000 in John 6 and how Jesus takes who we are and what we have and makes it more than enough!

In our final week in our Navigate series, Nick speaks from John 1:35-42 and we consider the question Jesus asks of the first disciples, "what do you want?" and how the answer to that is that we should want to choose life with Jesus.

The next stop in our Navigate series comes from Genesis 3:11 when God asks the question of Adam and Eve, "Who told you?" Nick talked about how we need to use God's Word to help us navigate God's World and figure out where we are and whose directions we are taking to get there.

Kicking off a new school year with a new series titled NAVIGATE where we are diving into questions asked in the Bible to seek God's direction to navigate through God's world. Nick spoke from Genesis 3 and we looked at the question God asked Adam and Eve, "Where are you?"

Summer Nights 2021 kicked off this week and this summer we are looking at Jesus' "I AM" statements in the Gospel of John. Nick introduced the series and we looked at God telling Moses in Exodus 3 "I AM WHAT I AM" and how that helps set up and inform Jesus making I AM statements in John's Gospel. The Big Idea: As our understanding of Jesus' identity grows, we grow our understanding of our identity in Christ.
