Everyone in hospitality is talking about AI - but is your hotel's commercial operation actually ready for it? In this episode of the AI Reality Check Series, I talk with Nicole Adair, Product leader at FLYR Hospitality, to cut through the hype and get honest about what “AI ready” really means for hotel revenue, marketing, distribution, sales, and GM teams.
Nicole breaks down the gaps hotels rarely talk about: why “we want more AI” isn't a problem statement, why basic AI fluency (not a data science degree) is the missing skill on most commercial teams, why leadership and culture set the tone for adoption, and how to tell a genuine AI-driven platform from software that's simply rebranded itself as “AI” to justify a higher price tag.

Welcome to the next instalment of our AI Reality Check series, where we ask a simple question: if you're running a rubbish hotel, will AI actually make it a great one? 🤖🏨
In this conversation, I talk with Fulvio Giannetti, CEO of Lybra Tech, to explore why AI acts as an accelerator, magnifying whatever is already working (or already broken) inside a hotel's commercial operation.
🔑 In This Episode:
● Why AI amplifies existing problems instead of fixing them
● The real reason “bad data” usually isn't a technology problem
● How segmentation quality determines the value an RMS can deliver
● Why outliers are some of the most valuable data points you can have
● What actually separates a hotel that's ready for AI from one that isn't

🏨📈🔍 AI won't turn a badly-run hotel into a great one - it'll just show everyone how badly it's being run. In this episode I talk with Tomasz Leszczynski of BEONx to unpack what "AI readiness" actually means for a hotel commercial team, and why most operators are asking the wrong first question.
✅ Why data quality, not software, is the real foundation for AI success
✅ The "empty process" trap - busywork that feels productive but adds zero value
✅ Why people always come before process, and process always comes before tech
✅ How clean data compounds into double-digit growth (and messy data kills ROI)
✅ Tomasz's real-world estimate: what % of hotel groups are actually AI-ready

AI won't make a rubbish hotel a good hotel - it will just expose the cracks faster.
In this episode, I talk with Kris Glabinski of Aggregate Intelligence to unpack what genuine AI-readiness looks like for hotels and hotel groups, and why most commercial operations aren't there yet.
Kris explains why data is actually the easy part to fix - and why process and people are where AI adoption really succeeds or fails. From the “100 free employees” thought experiment to the chicken-and-egg relationship between data, process and people, this is a grounded, practical look at what to fix before you invest in AI.

AI is everywhere in hospitality right now - but is your hotel actually ready for it, or are you just bolting new tech onto old problems?
In this episode, I talk with Peter Brauer of Get Into More (https://www.getintomore.com/) to break down what genuine AI-readiness looks like for hotels and hotel groups.
We dig into the three things that matter more than any tool: your people, your data, and your processes - and why skipping the groundwork means AI just amplifies whatever's already broken.
Peter shares the red flags that signal a hotel's data reflects broken process rather than market reality, and his honest take on whether compromised historical data should be a dealbreaker.

Is your hotel actually ready for AI - or are you about to automate broken processes even faster?
In this episode, I talk with Willem Rabsztyn, CEO of Bookboost, to unpack what AI readiness really means for hotels and hotel groups.
From data silos to security guardrails to spotting genuine AI value versus pitch-deck buzzwords, Willem breaks down the foundations every property needs before deploying AI at scale.
What You'll Learn
● Why unifying guest data is the real first step before any AI rollout
● The security risks of giving AI agents unrestricted API access
● How to shift staff mindset from “clicking buttons” to prompting agents
● Why messy data is usually a silo problem, not a “bad data” problem
● The three levels of AI maturity (and Willem's “protein powder” analogy)
● How to test whether a tech solution's “AI” is real or just marketing
● What commercial and operational foundations hotels need for the next 3–5 years

In this episode, Trevor Grant sits down with Firas Moolla from HotelIQ (www.hoteliq.io) to unpack what “AI readiness” actually looks like in hotel commercial operations, why data quality quietly underpins everything, and why the smartest hoteliers fix their fundamentals before they buy another tool.
They cover the “three-legged stool” of people, tools, and processes, why geographic source market data is the ultimate stress test for a hotel's operations, how to incentivize front desk teams to capture better data, how long a real data clean-up actually takes, and what an honest AI readiness assessment looks like in practice.
Whether you're a GM, revenue leader, or hotel owner exploring AI vendors, this conversation will help you ask better questions before you sign anything.

or the last couple of years, AI has been sold to the hotel industry as a silver bullet. In a recent conversation with Tristan Heaword of digital marketing agency three&six, one of our Expert Partners, I put that assumption to the test - and the answer was refreshingly honest: AI won't fix a broken hotel. It will amplify whatever is already there, good or bad.

AI is changing how travellers discover and book hotels — but is your property actually set up to take advantage of it?
In this episode, I talk with hotel SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) specialist Stephanie Smith of Cogwheel to break down what hoteliers need to get right before chasing the AI hype. From content and reviews to persona-led marketing, MCP connections, and why ROAS is the wrong metric altogether - this is a no-nonsense look at what's actually driving AI visibility in 2026.

Are hotels getting seduced by AI promises before they've sorted the basics?
In this conversation, digital acquisition expert Hicham Benyebdri of Userguest, cuts through the hype - explaining why no amount of AI-powered advertising will save a hotel with a broken booking path, weak conversion rate, or poor reviews.
We also get into how hotels can realistically compete with OTAs on their own turf, why paid platforms like Google and Meta aren't always working in your favour, and how the smartest hotels are using AI to read market signals and pivot faster than their competitors.
If you're a hotelier or work in hotel marketing, this one is worth your time.
Topics covered:
➡️ Getting your digital foundations right before investing in AI
➡️ How AI fits into paid acquisition strategy
➡️ Where hotels commonly misfire with automated campaigns
➡️ Competing with OTAs for direct bookings
➡️ How traveller booking behaviour is shifting
➡️ Using AI to respond faster to changing market conditions

The hotel industry is at a crossroads. In our latest conversation, we tackled three issues that could reshape how we drive revenue and lead our teams (you can also watch the discussion on YouTube - https://youtu.be/phyPUpQQM4k):
🔹 Personalised Pricing
Is it the next big leap - or a guest trust disaster waiting to happen? Airlines and retail are moving fast, but are hotels really ready for true 1:1 pricing? Or is sharper segmentation + attribute-based selling a safer path?
🔹 The “Always-On” Culture
Revenue never sleeps - but do we? The pressure to be constantly available may feel like strength, but in reality, it’s a recipe for burnout and poor decisions. The leaders winning today are focusing on output over input and drawing clear boundaries around what counts as an “emergency.”
🔹 Booking.com Losing Share
We’re seeing Booking.com production slipping in some markets, with growth shifting toward Expedia and direct. Is it dilution (apartments flooding the platform)? Legal and EU pressure? Or a sign that hotels are finally clawing back some control?
👉 The takeaways:
🔥 Question for you:
Would you trial true personalised pricing if the technology existed - and how would you keep it fair for your guests?
👇 Share your thoughts - we’d love to hear how you’re tackling these challenges in your hotels.
🚨 39% of bookings in just 30 days came from one simple change.
Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club had a problem many hotels face:
👉 Strong website traffic, but too few guests converting.
👉 Great offers hidden deep in the site.
👉 Risk of losing visitors to OTAs.
By partnering with Booking Success (digital strategy) and Userguest (smart messaging), they turned things around:
✔️ +50% increase in “look-to-book” rate
✔️ $175,000 in direct revenue in 30 days
✔️ Over $500,000 tied to smart messaging initiatives
✔️ All while keeping the guest journey seamless and on-brand
💡 The takeaway? Driving traffic is only half the battle. Conversion-focused digital tools - used strategically - can transform how hotels capture direct revenue and reduce OTA reliance.

The EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) was designed to create a fairer digital landscape - but could it actually end up harming hotels instead?
In this discussion with Javier Delgado Muerza of mirai, we break down the latest developments following the European Commission’s investigation into Google’s compliance with Article 6.5 of the DMA. With two proposed solutions (Option A and Option B), both could significantly reduce the visibility of direct hotel websites in Google search results - and that’s bad news for hoteliers and revenue managers.
👉 What’s at stake for your hotel?
👉 Why are direct bookings under threat?
👉 Who benefits from these changes - and who loses?
👉 Why is the hotel industry so silent while major OTAs stand to gain?
You’ll hear why this shift could drastically increase reliance on OTAs, shrink profit margins, and give even more power to large U.S.-based intermediaries like Booking and Expedia - all under the banner of "fairness."
Here is the LinkedIn post Javier refers to in the video:

We hear his views on how an efficient modern communication approach can positively impact bookings but also emphasises this is one part of the revenue equation – stressing that if your guests are happy they will also spend more with you when on property.
Finally, Nicolas outlines a real customer example where the reality was very different to the hotel’s original perception.
Really hope you enjoy the conversation

Kris, Nick and Marco also look at the evolving nature of the hotel industry, the challenges faced by traditional revenue managers, and the potential impact of new entrants and changing guest expectations.
We touch on the potential benefits of adopting automated pricing systems for revenue management, occupancy optimization, and reducing manual efforts, especially in smaller properties where dedicated resources are limited.

Hi, welcome to another expert insight discussions.
Today we are joined by Estella Hale, Chief Commercial Officer at HotelIQ, one of our Expert Partners, and Robert Marusi, Chief Commercial Officer at Turtle Bay Resort.
In this conversation our focus is on the hotel commercial teams, most specifically, revenue and marketing.
In particular we are looking at how the roles and responsibilities in these departments are evolving to take advantage of modern technology, or, as in a lot of hotels, maybe not changing at all.
The hotel industry is at a pivotal moment, traveller demands are changing and the digital transformation is touching every aspect of hotel operations. Hyperpersonalization and the need for commercial teams to have a 360 view of the customer is paramount.
Revenue professionals must start thinking like marketeers and vice versa.
The best leaders are already making this transition, as for the others, well, they may just get left behind or become irrelevant.

Today we are joined by Connor Vanderholm from Topline, one of our Expert Partners,
Following his recent article outlining some of the revenue management practices that could be considered to run a little close to unethical, we felt compelled to hear the words from his own mouth and get a slightly deeper insight

Hi, welcome to another Expert Insights discussion
Today we are joined by Stephanie Smith from Cogwheel Marketing, one of our Expert Partners,
In this discussion we explore how hotel sales and marketing can seem disconnected when looking at how to drive topline revenue.
With the continual change In traveller behaviour, and how they go about researching, and subsequently booking their travel, it is more imperative than ever that hotels take a balanced and strategic view of how they market to both their transient and group business.
Stephanie feels hoteliers, in particular sales and marketing, do not approach these markets in the same way.
Through this conversation, she outlines 10 areas to challenge your current thinking, and lays out a simple point scoring game you can play to see if you do indeed adopt a balanced approach, or maybe not.

Hi, welcome to one of our Expert Insight discussions
This is part 2 of 2 episodes looking at the importance of controlling your Hotel pricing and, more importantly, the impacts of not controlling it.
In both episodes we have been joined by Pablo Sanchez from mirai, one of our Expert Partners
In part 1 Pablo outlined how losing control of your price could mean hoteliers missing out on a potential 34% increase in bookings.
In this episode we change tack a little and look at possible medium to long term implications of not addressing your hotel price competitiveness.
The loss of booking increase is an obvious short term potential loss, but looking further out the challenges are more subtle, occurring slowly overtime. In much the same way we see with the current climate crisis, with small temperature changes over the years, these small incremental missed opportunities could have a larger, more dramatic impact.
You can't put your head in the sand, do the same thing and expect a different outcome - that would be insanity.
I really hope you enjoy this conversation 👍🏻

Hi, welcome to one of our Expert Insight discussions
This is part 1 of 2 episodes looking at the importance of controlling your Hotel pricing and, more importantly, the impacts of not controlling it.
In both episodes we are joined by Pablo Sanchez from mirai, one of our Expert Partners
In this episode Pablo outlines concisely, how losing control of your pricing could mean hoteliers missing out on a potential 34% increase in bookings.
He shows us how different pricing scenarios feed through to increased visibility, CTR and conversions and, by using booking simulation, Pablo illustrates how this 34% potential increase of bookings could be achieved.
All of these scenarios and simulations are supported by data from their recent survey of 1500 hotel prices formed from 10 million traveller-set date queries.
In part 2 we will look at the broader, Medium to long term Implications of not controlling your Hotel price
But for now, I really hope you enjoy this conversation 👍🏻

Hi, welcome to another Expert Insights Discussion
With recent articles about Meetings and Group business finally starting to fill hotel rooms, we thought it might be interesting to discuss how increased groups and meetings business might impact hotels, especially when you consider the ongoing staff shortage and the challenge faced in trying to respond to more group enquiries.
And why understanding how revenue management applies in relation to group business, is ever more important especially when trying to balance group business against individual bookings and identifying the most profitable mix.
So we have recorded a 2 video series where we look at the importance of hotel meetings and group revenue.
Joining us on to offer their insights are:
🔹 Peter Brauer of Get Into MoRe
🔹 Mark Struik of Please ask m
Today, in video 1, we specifically look at why hotels might not focus on meetings revenue as much as they should do and what are some of the barriers when trying to embrace meetings revenue management.

Hi, welcome to another of our demo time discussions
Today we are talking about the impact to hotels of combining multiple digital marketing datasets.
To offer their insights we are joined by
🔹 Stephanie Smith Founder & Digital Matriarch atCogwheel Marketing, the company behind Cogwheel Analytics and one of our Expert Partners
Through the discussion Stephanie will outline her views on why hoteliers can leverage this data more effectively, she will also demonstrate the Cogwheel Analytics solution.
We look at the challenges faced when trying to pull different information from multiple sources and the value of aggregating data from your website marketing, paid social, OTA efforts, etc. all in one place.
Stephanie also highlights how the vast majority of data is extracted from the PMS and the limitations of this only showing what has been booked - and asks what is actually happening before the booking is made?
We also explore how adopting this technology can start to turn the view from purely internal analytics to external benchmarking and scorecards i.e. are we on pace with other competitor hotels? Is our hotel getting it's fair share from Google? Is our ROI comparable to other similar properties?
Really hope you enjoy the conversation 👍🏻

Hi, welcome to another Expert Insights Discussion
Today we are talking Hotel Brand
When done well, it is a core differentiator reflecting the culture, values and identity of your hotel, helping to build loyalty, reputation and price integrity.
Brand is not just about a marketing headline or a generic boilerplate, it is holistic!!
To offer their insights we are joined by
🔹Melinda Speck from Strategic Solution Partners
Does your external image and messaging accurately reflect your culture, values and operation or is it fake news? If it is not genuine your guests will feel the disconnect when they stay, if not consciously then certainly sub-consciously.
Through the discussion Melinda shares examples of where she believes brand has been done well and what it means to adopt a holistic approach.

Welcome to another of our coffee time chats. Today we are joined by:
🔹 Pontus Berner from berner+becker, one of our Expert Partners
In this discussion we take another look at the German hotel market and follow up on our conversation in September when Pontus considered what might happen in Winter 2022 and he also looks ahead to Summer period coming up.
With concern over a possible recession and rising energy prices we see if this translated into a downturn in anyway. Did group requests continue to increase and were there any marked differences between leisure and corporate business. Finally, were there any pricing pressures that came through into the market.
After reviewing what actually happened, Pontus looks to the Summer months ahead, touching on some early possible challenges for the leisure markets as domestic customers look to travel abroad, whether this will bring some pricing pressures and offers for final thoughts for hoteliers to start moving away from day-to-day thinking.
Hope you enjoy the discussion 👍

Hi, welcome to another Expert Insights discussion.
Today we are joined by:
🔹Kris Glabinski, VP Europe at Aggregate Intelligence, a world leading data intelligence company, and the company behind Ratemetrics, one of our Expert Partners
In this discussion we look at how hoteliers can turn competitor intelligence into a additional revenue in a very simple way using readily accessible data – the same data every guest can use when choosing a hotel – including your competitors!
Kris takes us through a real life example and also illustrates how, through marginal price gains, a hotel with 76 rooms, 60% occupancy and an ADR of 150 Euros could add 49k of additional revenue straight to its bottom line.
Later in the discussion he demonstrates Ratemetrics ‘free for ever’ tool, which hotels can use to take their first steps into gathering competitor intelligence to help inform strategic pricing decisions which can drive additional revenue and profit.
Overall, price benchmarking helps hotels to stay competitive and optimize their revenue management strategies, leading to increased profits and customer satisfaction – which hotelier doesn’t want that?!
Hope you enjoy the discussion 👍

Hi, welcome to our first video of 2023. We took a bit of a break over the festive period to recharge and we’re back ready for the Year ahead
Today we kick off by revisiting a core topic in 2022 - RMA - RevMarketing Automation
In this discussion we take a deeper dive into the Revenue aspect of RevMarketing Automation and explore how revenue strategies can be applied directly to the hotel’s website and what the benefits of this are.
To help us along, we have two guests to give us their valuable insights:
🔹 Cristina Blaj, Brand Ambassador for Userguest, one of our Expert Partners, and Founder of Open Revenue Consulting
🔹 Alejandro Garcia, Director of Sales, EMEA for Duetto
In this wide ranging conversation we explore:
🔸Why do a majority of hotels not apply revenue strategies to their websites?
🔸What is the role of the Revenue Management System and how important is the marketing data to inform the revenue strategy?
🔸What are the reasons hotels should consider applying these revenue strategies to the direct channel?
🔸Where does RMA step into this equation and how does it act as the facilitator between the RMS and the direct channel?
🔸What kind of strategies can and should be applied to maximise this relationship and drive a revenue?

Welcome to another video in our Userguest series focused on the topic of RMA - RevMarketing Automation
Today we are joined by:
🔹 Erik Munoz of Userguestand Annemarie Gubanski from Taktikon
NB: Userguest are one of our Expert Partners
Hotels rely on tech tools to run the day-to-day operations of the business. We’ve seen a growing tendency to automate many tasks within the industry as a way to simplify time-consuming tasks, often saving time, saving money and removing stress.
Today we look at how automation can be used effectively via the hotel’s own website to drive dynamic content and personalized messaging leading to increased booking conversion and, ultimately, higher revenues and lower OTA commission.
We explore why hotels should embrace website technology, the benefits to both visitor and the hotel and discuss how automation marketing can work with less time and cost investment than initially anticipated

🔹Cristian Blaj of Userguestand
🔹Barry Wishart of Casa Collina
NB: Userguest are one of our Expert Partners
In this discussion we expand on the recent discussion we had with Erik Munoz when he introduced RMA - RevMarketing Automation.
With Cristina and Barry we focus our conversation around the hotel’s website.
Who really owns it? And where does responsibility lie when it comes to generating revenue via the hotel’s direct channel.
We ask if the revenue strategies developed by the revenue management team are often lost on the direct channel and we question if hotel marketeers consider revenue strategies when planning marketing campaigns.
Cristina and Barry also give their thoughts on whether marketing and revenue can think like each other, when their core skills are so different, and what can these two teams do to support each other.

🔹 Neville Isaac of Beonprice

🔹 Karin Van Rhee of Juyo Analytics
Please note, both Beonprice and Juyo Analytics are Expert Partners
In this conversation, we discuss with Neville and Karin whether revenue strategy is just a pipedream, for most hoteliers
We look at how old fashioned and outdated approaches to revenue management, or more accurately pricing, continually hold back the evolution to revenue strategy
We explore what is needed if we are to truly free the revenue manager to be strategic and ask what actually is revenue strategy?
Finally, we consider how tired old metrics ensure we repeat the same thing over and over and how we should be asking more enlightened questions around who is our most profitable guest and what % of bookings do they represent?
Without changing the focus, the questions asked, and metrics measured, surely revenue strategy just exists as another recurring seminar topic. Hope you enjoy the discussion 🤞👍

Welcome to another of our Coffee Time chats.
Today we are joined by:
🔹 Javier DelgadoManaging Partner and CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa at mirai
NB: mirai are one of our Expert Partners
Today we touch on a number of topics starting with a positive mood of hope and optimism that travel will return, whilst also realising that hotels can be a little short-sighted and have short memories.
We touch on the topic of direct bookings and OTAs, how their respective budgets are handled differently and the negative impact this can have.
Finally we ask, will hoteliers just revert back to type once things start normalising, how will they cope once the cookieless world finally arrives, sometime in 2022, and how the sentiment ‘adapt or perish’ is more pertinent now than ever
Hope you enjoy it 🤞👍

Welcome to another Expert Insights discussion.
Today we are joined by:
🔹 Connor VanderholmCEO and Co-founder of Topline, one of our Expert Partners
We speak with Connor at Hampton Inn & Suites Orem whilst he is out and about on a business road trip. He outlines what he feels are some misconceptions of where Revenue Managers sit in the demand equation and what they are responsible for – which is primarily Yield Management.
He explains there seems to be a misunderstanding that Revenue Managers create demand.
Revenue Managers can capture and capitalize on demand that is there, but they do not create it. Yes, demand can be created, but Connor believes that is the function of marketing, ecommerce and sales – working in conjunction with Revenue Management.
Hope you enjoy it 🤞👍

Welcome to another Expert Insights discussion.
Today we are joined by:
🔹 Stephanie SmithFounder and Digital Matriarch at Cogwheel Marketing, one of our Expert Partners
In this discussion Stephanie outlines why she feels the ideology around the digital marketing budget needs to evolve, rather than asking the question “how much am I going to spend” we should be asking “is what I’m spending in the right place” – and this is where the marketing audit comes in as a first step.
We consider the ‘ecospheres’ in which your hotel exists and moving beyond rate shopping and production reports to look at where your competitors operate in the social media universe – online marketing competitor analysis – which is much more important to hotel marketeers.
Finally, we consider how the marketing audit helps you identify not only what you need to spend and where you need to spend but, more crucially, why you need to spend it – building the business case for owners/investors that provides the confidence there has been some thinking behind the budget numbers rather than a “let’s add 5-10% on last year” mentality
Hope you enjoy it 🤞👍

Finally we touch a little bit on what Stephanie is seeing in terms of budgets, human resource and general hotelier attitude to hotel marketing at this point.

Welcome to another Expert Insights discussion, where we pose the question:
Is the Hotel Mindset More Like Nokia than Apple?
Have hotels used the pandemic period to start developing a more customer centric approach to their product, pricing and promotion or will they just revert back to type.
These are some of the topics we explore with our 2 guests:
🔹 Niki Van den Broeck, Head of Business Development at Get Into MoRe
and
🔹 Vassilis Syropoulos, Founder and CEO at Juyo Analytics
Both Get Into MoRe and Juyo Analytics are Revenue Hub Expert Partners
Whilst Nokia built a solid and reliable product, it was Apple's emergence, and their strategy, which proved the game changer. Their desire to understand how people use their phones but, more importantly, looking at how the world was changing and reaching out to understand the way consumers might use their phones in the future, was the mindset shift that led to the smartphones we see today - allowing users to engage with them as they want to.
How could this apply to the hotel sector, should hotels better understand what their guests and target markets want, as we start to re-open, and then develop an offering which reflects those desires or just continue to sell their 'standard', 'deluxe' and 'luxury' rooms or their 'banquet' package for meetings and events?
These are some of the topics we explore with our 2 guests.
🔹 Customer Centricity (4:00) * Should we move to a Customer Centric Commercial Strategy
🔹 Customer Centric Meetings & Events Offering (7:43) * Bespoke pricing * SaaS - Space as a Service * Cost of Inaction
🔹 Customer Centric Room Offering (20:32) * Hybrid Offering * Storytelling * Local community engagement * Guest engagement - not assuming
🔹 Who are our competition (31:16)
🔹 Is segmentation too broad and outdated as a term (40:25)
Hope you enjoy it 🤞👍

🔹 Stephanie Smith
Founder & Digital Matriarch at Cogwheel Marketing, one of our Expert Partners
🔹 Jack Lindemuth
Founder at JLL Commercial Strategy Consulting and Partner at Strategic Solution Partners
In this discussion we pick up on a recent case study Jack wrote following a consultancy project with an independent 4-star boutique hotel.
Jack was brought in to figure out why the property’s revenue struggled to improve despite investment from the owners. Through this project Jack identitfied 7 key findings, let us call them ‘Commercial Mistakes’ the property was making, and these 7 points form the basis of this discussion.
Stephanie joins us to bring her perspective working with branded chain hotels to illustrate how these mistakes can still be made within this property type.
🔹 Mistake 1: Untapped revenue generating partnerships and distribution (04:54) 🔹 Mistake 2: Overlooked mapping and connectivity throughout distribution ecosystem (12:17)
🔹 Mistake 3: Poor and inconsistent content throughout the online storefront (21:12)
🔹 Mistake 4: Lacking key benchmarks and KPIs within Marketing and Revenue (27:44)
🔹 Mistake 5: Hesitation to fully embrace dynamic pricing (36:42)
🔹 Mistake 6: Rigid hotel policies (42:54)

We explore why silos should be broken down, the value of sharing data and why strategies to generate demand are so much more effective if both sides are involved.
Whilst this conversation is mainly targeted towards those working with independent hotels, the principles apply across the industry as a whole.

This is part 2 of a 2 part series where we look at what happens when a traveller visits your website, what are the biggest mistakes hotels make and what are some tips to improve the chance of securing the direct booking?
We look at simple ideas, back to basics and easily actionable changes which are often forgotten or overlooked in the 'data' climate world we exist in today.
Topics we cover are as follows:
What is the experience when a booker arrives at your site · Look and feel · Content · What do potential guests really want to know about your hotels
Price Parity and Offer Promotions · Different offers on OTA and own website · Seasonal offers that aren’t relevant · Not offer terms & conditions Slow Booking Engine Converting previous OTA bookers to direct · Why did they come to your hotel first time · Are they a possible repeat booker / loyal future guest How do we learn from our Guests when they are with us to help shape our future offering?
In this episode we are joined again by Veit and Till from berner+becker

This is part 1 of a 2 part series where we explore is it a challenge to drive and convert more direct business, what are some basic errors made and ultimately, is it worth it?
We look at some simple ideas, back to basics and easily actionable changes which are often forgotten or overlooked in the 'data' climate world we exist in today.
Topics we cover are as follows:
How do we drive more viewers to our hotel website * Understand your hotel USPs * Understand your feeder market * Understand how guests currently book with you
Social Media – pre-targeting and retargeting
Search marketing * Different search platforms
Metasearch marketing
Other channels of interest for target group * Golf property – golf websites * Spa/Wedding facilities – magazines/sites * Mountain Biking
We look at importance of understanding how much will it cost and do you, as a hotel, have the right resources.
What costs should you consider as part of your Direct Booking evaluation: * Website costs, paid marketing, direct offerings, time
Is it more expensive when compared to your OTA costs?
If it costs more (and possibly) the same, and you have limited resources then should accept direct is maybe not way to go and think more in terms of future rebooking?
Doesn’t have to be a binary choice OTA or Direct - you could try a Direct Booking campaign around one of your unique features – keep it small to test, and make mistakes that way learn and then build on it.
In today's conversation we are joined by Adrienne Hanna, Founder of Right Revenue
Our discussion covers a number of areas with the intention of trying to establish has the role of the Revenue Manager really evolved and how technology has, or could, impact on this evolution.
Areas we touch on and question we pose are:
• How technology has impacted the evolution and whether it is a threat or an enabler (3:46)

Please feel free to contact us with any comments or thoughts on a topic that has occupied many conversations but where we have seen very little (significant) change across the industry.
We can look to follow up on any feedback and answer any questions with Adrienne in the future.

Here at Right Revenue, we understand that supporting each other through this terrible time and planning for a bright future is critical.
To help hotels prepare for a ‘new normal’ and to ensure that they are in the best shape possible for better days ahead, we have come up with two great offers:
The first is an offer of 3 months’ use of our full Revenue Management Software Solution completely Free Of Charge. If you come on board by the end of May, for an installation date in June (or earlier), we will offer July, August and September completely free!
The second offer is that we recognise that many hotels and Guest Houses may not have integration to a PMS or may not be ready for a full Revenue Management Solution just now. So we have come up with a suite of reports that you can use daily without the need for a full revenue system. We have shown these calculator reports to some of the industries leading professionals and the feedback has been phenomenal. And we are happy to offer all 3 for just £59.00 per month.
