The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place." [Sahih al-Bukhari 5728] Quarantine as a means of handling any form of a pandemic is a known knowledge that has been passed down to generations from the life lessons (Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)) this knowledge came from an unlettered man at the time that there was no knowledge of microbes, can we get more solutions to modern-day problems if we examine his life? After all, it was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who first told his companions to cover their faces when sneezing (mustadrak haakim) - again, at the time when there was no knowledge of microbes.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Use love and affection in education and upbringing and don't have access to cruelty because a wise mentor is better than a cruel one." [Bihar al-Anwar, v 77, p. 175] Islam is a religion of peace and hence does not encourage any form of violence. Research has shown that people who received physical punishment as children are more likely to assault their kids, spouses and manifest criminal behaviour. Therefore, one can hazard a hypothesis that beating children for every infraction (minor or major) leads to violence in the community; this is the total opposite of what Islam teaches.

View Details

In this episode, you will learn 1- How Prophet Muhammad (SAW) structured his questions when relating with kids. 2- What wise parenting looks like from the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and how that has been applied by parents that have raised highly achieving children. 3- How children want to be treated. 4- Why do parents need to have high standards and warmth when interacting with children.

Anas ibn Maalik narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: "I start to pray intending to make it long, then I hear the crying of a child, so I make it short because of his mother's distress." [al-Bukhaari (677) and Muslim (470)]. Paul Tough commented in his book: "Babies whose parents responded readily and fully to their cries in the first months of life were, at one year, more independent and intrepid than babies whose parents had ignored their cries. The Prophet (PBUH) is the ideal perfect representation of how a Muslim is expected to be; everything he did or said is an example and lesson that is not only applicable during his time but cuts across generations after his time till the end of time. Therefore, he is often described as "a walking Qur'an", embodying the Laws of Almighty Allah (SAW). "...And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds." (Quran: 21:106-107).

Praise and gratitude belongs to Allah, Lord of the Universe(s) (Al-ḥamdu l-illāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīn) these are the words that every Muslim say's in the 17 units of compulsory prayer every day, this goes to show the importance and emphasis of showing gratitude is in Islam and to Muslims. So Muslims are encouraged to be grateful to Allah and be thankful to other people and things in our lives. "The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who does not thank the people is not grateful to Allah." [Sunan Abi Dawud 4811]. "Gratitude reduces a multitude of toxic emotions," Amy Morrin, a psychotherapist, wrote in Forbes, "ranging from envy and resentment to frustration and regret.

"Mistakes make neurons fire, and the brain grows," stated Jo Boaler, a Stanford professor and author of "Mathematical Mindsets: Unleashing Students' Potential Through Creative Math, Inspiring Messages and Innovative Teaching." Our dear Prophet (PBUH) demonstrated this scientific technique years ago. "Verily the one who recites the Qur'an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have twice that reward." [Sunan Abi Da'ud Hadith No. 1454] This shows the importance and benefits of mistakes.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW)was always cheerful and bright-faced. According to historians, he always kept smiling in the face of his Companions to the extent that Abdullah ibn Al-Harith ibn Hazm said, "I have never seen anyone who smiles more than the Prophet does." (At-Tirmidhi). Andrew Merle wrote for the Huffington Post, "other research has shown that people who smile are thought to be more friendly and likeable, and smiling makes those around you cheerier as well." Smiling makes other people happy and helps their hearts! That's why it's charity. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "You cannot satisfy people with your wealth, but satisfy them with your cheerful faces and good morals" (Abu Ya'la and Al-Hakim; Authentic hadith).

"Learning patience can be a difficult experience, but once conquered, you will find life is easier." - Catherine Pulsifer. The effect and reward of patience don't end in this world but are extended to the hereafter(next life). One of the most important character traits for a Muslim is patience, and the reward for patience is eternal. "Those will be rewarded with the highest place because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect." [25:75]

Richard Wiseman, in his book "59 Seconds" said that "if you want to be likeable; you should avoid gossip". Everyone innately wants to be liked and acknowledged; what gossip does is the opposite of that. Gossip destroys communities, families and organizations, which is why Allah (SWA) forbade Muslims from gossiping. "… neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One

Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful" - [49:12].

When it comes to Anti-racism, Islam can be viewed as a forerunner in this aspect. “All humans are descended from Adam and Eve,” said Muhammad in his last known public speech. “There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, or of a non-Arab over an Arab, and no superiority of a white person over a black person or of a black person over a white person, except on the basis of personal piety and righteousness.” The five daily prayers bring together Muslims from different cultural backgrounds, personalities, and traits. These rituals create a special bond between the Muslim brothers and sisters, helping them break out from the shackles of racial prejudice, systemic racism, and the oppression of specific racial groups.

View Details

The five daily prayers are a form of mindful meditation and a form of yoga that cleans one, spiritually and physically, through all the procedures and rituals that the Prophet has passed down to us from generation to generation. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If there was a river at your door and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet said, “That is the parable of the five prayers by which Allah removes sins.”
