Alcoholism is a nasty disease. It takes hold of you and robs you of any common sense and often thrusts you into a path of destruction. There are many rehab programs out there and one that is most common is Alcoholics Anonymous or AA. AA is a 12-step program with the basic principle that you surrender to God and that you are then rendered powerless to the disease.
My guest featured today on Spotlight on eWomenNetwork turns all of that on it's ear. Teresa Rodden is a generational alcoholic who went the traditional route of AA and she was told that she was on a pink cloud and one day she’ll come crashing down. Well, that didn’t sit right with Teresa and she decided she was going to hop on that big pink cloud and trail blaze a new concept for curing alcoholism called, "HOPE," which stands for Having Other Possibilities to Explore. Teresa is the author of Wholly Sober, How I Stopped Thinking About Drinking and Started Loving My Life. She helps you understand what it’s like to be an alcoholic, why these traditional 12-step programs don’t work for everyone, and what HOPE is doing now to save those suffering from this type of addiction.
On this episode of Spotlight on eWomenNetwork - Terrie Christine thought she was doing the right thing in her 14 year marriage by sacrificing herself for her husband. She believed that sacrifice meant love. But, as she describes, her love was not reciprocated in the same way. One night at 3am while she lay on the floor in her bathroom wanting her life to end, a voice appeared inside her head that changed everything. Terrie Christine is an Intuitive Life Coach who took her transformative story and turned it into a business helping others work through their limiting beliefs. Tune in and learn what you can start doing today to get past your demons and thrive like you deserve.
On this episode of Spotlight on eWomenNetwork - Andrea Whitley recently took over a Christian-based apparel company called Blessed Attire with little knowledge of running a business. On top of that she has a genetic disorder called, "Ehlers-Danlos Syndrom," that left her at birth without connective tissue, called collagen, in her body to hold her joints together. This causes her joints to dislocate regularly, which impacts every day of her life as a business-owner and a mother. With determination, a positive attitude and a lot of help, Andrea's business is taking off while some items are selling like hotcakes. Watch the video at eWomenNetwork.com or listen to the podcast of this inspiring young woman who has taken on this difficult challenge with a smile and a lot of grit and a dream of making the world a happier place.
On this episode of Spotlight on eWomenNetwork, Kathy Costas begins her story of divorce from the kitchen floor of her home where she lay after her now ex-husband had choked her until she passed out. He had never been violent in the 19 years they had been married, but once he knew she was done with the marriage he became desperate and physically violent. At the time she was only working part time and had 3 kids age 8,11 and 13. She eventually got a lifetime restraining order, full custody of the kids and survived a 6 year "soup to nuts" divorce. After that horrific experience, Kathy made it her mission to become a trusted adviser for women going through a divorc. She is now one of only 2000 Certified Divorce Financial Analysts - a certification that qualifies her more than an attorney to provide financial planning advice.

On the Spotlight on eWomenNetwork Podcast, Dr. Dorothy's personal story is one from which movies are made. She was orphaned at birth as an illegitimate child of an Irish Catholic woman, re-adopted by her birth-mother’s abusive husband at age 3 and forced to stay outside all day in the backyard of the projects of her Boston home. But despite the horrors of her beginning, Dr. Dorothy’s journey led her to great achievements as a world traveler, licensed therapist and entrepreneur and pioneer in integrative medicine among other things. She shares her story of triumph and what women must do to stop being the nice girl and be a true leader.
On the Spotlight on eWomenNetwork Podcast, Wendy Darling takes you on a journey from a freak accident that cost her everything, including custody of her then 4 1/2 year old son, to living her ultimate fulfilling life now. Her own use of the 3 "L" formula is the backbone of her own work to self-discovery and the cornerstone of her how she helps others follow her path. Excerpt from my interview with Wendy Darling: "I passed out and fell over a ledge. I fell over 25 feet, and the good news in some ways is I landed on my right leg. My right leg was shattered. I had multiple surgeries and didn’t know for about 11 months if I would walk again. My back was broken and then I was later diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. I was in the hospital, it was around the 4-week mark, my former husband chose that time to say he no longer wanted to be married, and he was awarded full custody of our son who was only 4 ½ at the time. That’s really when I broke into a whole lot of pieces, because there were a lot of things I enjoyed and was proud of, but nothing like being Adam’s mom."

eWomenNetwork 2017 Managing Director of the Year with the Colorado Springs chapter, Julie Davis, shares how teaching high school English in Yuma, Arizona, and being a nationally ranked ski racer taught her about running a business and maximizing productivity.
Here's a excerpt from the interview:
Julie Davis: "I grew up in a very affluent ski town in Colorado and went to a very affluent college. I had never really experienced a poor place, and to move down to Yuma where we’re 22 miles from Mexico, we were 5 miles from the border of California, and be thrown into a school where the books were probably close to 20 years old. There were no teacher editions. Where you write your name in the textbook, it was like those lines, plus the end of the page, plus flip the page and then they were all down the back of the page. So, I got to work. I mean what do you do?

If you want to be wildly successful, some believe you first have to develop a healthy mindset. But what does that actually mean, mindset? It’s one of those buzz words you hear a lot these days like the word “mindfulness.” Well, the dictionary says that “mindset” is “the ideas and attitudes with which a person approaches a situation, especially when these are seen as being difficult to alter.” But Founder and CEO of eWomenNetwork, Sandra Yancey, takes it one step further. She says the key to your success is not your mindset, but your "worthset." In my interview with Sandra Yancey, we explore what it takes to have a healthy "worthset" and why it's the key to your success in business and life.
