Films on Demand Nursing Core Collection
This collection is designed not only to help nursing students excel in their studies and pass licensure exams, but also to prepare them for long-term job success in an increasingly complex health care system. It features titles from trusted producers such as Medcom-Trainex, Elsevier, Cengage Learning/Concept Media, Classroom Productions, Inc., NEVCO, Wolters Kluwer Health, Institute for Professional Care Education/Medifecta, PESI, Inc., and others.
Films on Demand Nursing Current Concepts and Practices Collection
This collection is a companion collection to the Nursing Core Collection. Titles feature copyrights only within the past five years and are from trusted producers such as Classroom Productions, Inc.; Medcom-Trainex; Elsevier; Cambridge Educational; Medivision; Nevco Educational Video Inc.; and others.
ProQuest Mental Health and Wellbeing Ebook Collection
This is a specially curated collection of high-demand titles on psychology research, personal wellbeing and self-help. This collection brings the latest, most relevant psychology research and mental health ebooks in one place and helps promote student wellbeing and self-care skills.
All three database resources are available now via the Library’s A to Z Database list. Find them on the “Databases” landing page, under the Find drop-down menu on the Library’s website!

The ProQuest Sustainability eBook Collection is now available? This new database is now available in our collection. It contains over 5,300 titles relating to sustainability, and enables students and researchers to explore global issues from multiple avenues. You can access it from the Library website under “Find > Databases > P.”
You can manage your Library account online? You can log in to our Primo Discovery Search service to view your current loans, requests, fines, favorited items, and search history. Simply select the “Sign in” link in the top right corner of the search page, and select “Login via BRUIN Connect.”
The LibKey Nomad browser extension can help you access Library links while browsing the web? This a browser extension works with BrowZine to provide fast, one-click access to Bellevue University full-text links via Google, PubMed, and other internet sites. It is available for major web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. You can download it from the Library website on the Library Apps page under the Services drop-down menu.

The Bellevue University Library is pleased to announce new BrowZine functionality in our Discovery Search service. The new integrations allow users to browse individual journals using BrowZine’s mobile-optimized user-interface.
Other new features include a “Download PDF” option on select journal entries, as well as a new Source Finder tool which allows the user to find other related articles. You don’t need to do anything to enable this functionality. Simply perform a search in the Library’s Discovery Search, and the new options will be available on select search results.
On a journal search, click the “View Journal Contents” link to view the journal using the BrowZine interface.
The “Download PDF” option will show up when a direct PDF (Adobe Printable Document Format) document is available. This will allow one-click access to the full-text PDF of the document.
The “Source Finder” tools will appear on select journal articles, and will show a red arrow icon when available. These two tools allow the user to automatically find sources cited in the article, or to find other articles that use the original article as a source. This is a great way to find related articles.

Are you planning a new research project, or looking to refresh your knowledge of research methods? SAGE Research Methods is a new database resource loaded with videos, tutorials, tools, and information on conducting research. It is a perfect starting point for planning a research project.
There are a few very useful tools included with the SAGE Research Methods database. The “Methods Map” visualization demonstrates how different research methods relate to each other, and helps users access the content that will help them the most for their chosen research area. The “Project Planner” is a step-by-step guide to completing a research project. The planner covers defining a topic, literature review, research design, data collection, analysis, and much more. Other tools include a statistics test to help choose the best statistical method for your data, and reading lists.
Multimedia included in this database include podcasts hosted by social scientists discussing their research methodologies, and videos that are categorized by discipline and research methods. Video types include case studies, definitions, interviews, and tutorials.
SAGE Research Methods can be accessed from the Databases landing page under “S.” This page can be found on the Library’s homepage under the “Find” drop-down menu, or on the “Databases” tab on the Discovery Search page. Be sure to check it out!

While the completion of the Library’s shelving upgrade was delayed due to weather and parts shortages, we are happy to announce that the update should be completed by the end of day on Wednesday, January 18.
Until completion of this upgrade, parts of the Library collection may be inaccessible to students, staff, and faculty. If you require any library materials that are currently inaccessible, please let a Library staff member know and they will attempt to retrieve it for you.
During the upgrade, some of our collection had to be relocated to temporary shelving near the Library’s classroom. These items should be returned to their proper place within the week.
Thank you for your patience while we complete this much needed infrastructure update.

If you have been in the Library recently, you may have noticed books and machine parts on some of the tables. The Library is in the process of upgrading its mechanical compact shelving. Due to increasing mechanical and electrical issues, the 20-year-old system was in dire need of replacement. The estimated completion date of this project is January 6, 2023.
During this time, the main collection may be inaccessible for Library patrons. If you require any books or media located in this area, please let a staff member know and they will try to retrieve it for you. During some times, parts of the collection may be completely inaccessible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The compact shelving upgrade is being performed by Midwest Storage Solutions. This upgrade involves replacing all of the mechanical and computer systems in each of the shelves, including the motors, motherboards, sensors, and various safety mechanisms. In January 2005, the idea of a library information literacy tutorial first emerged. Thirteen years later, BUILD IT, aka Bellevue University Information Literacy Development Interactive Tutorial, is still going strong. Officially launched in the fall of 2006, and featured in Vol. 9, No. 4, (“Get Ready, Get Set, BUILD IT!”), is essentially a guide to the Bellevue University Library and its many resources and services. Along the way, it has become an important component of many classes, introducing students not only to the concept of information literacy but also to the basics of organizing and writing a research paper, while teaching them to navigate the library website.
BUILD IT became an ongoing project for the library as we continuously adjusted its content to reflect the changing library technologies and services. However, no change was bigger than the complete overhaul it went through four years ago. The program it was originally created in, Microsoft Frontpage, was no longer supported and BUILD IT had become non-compliant with the current HTML standards. The entire tutorial was rewritten in HTML5, an experience that required first learning basic HTML and also CSS. Inevitably, things changed again, necessitating yet another redesign, and so began another year-long effort. To sum it up, BUILD IT needed to be moved from its current location, a server not really meant to host projects permanently, in fact, scheduled to be taken down altogether. With library server space limited to what we were already using for our library website, we needed a way to incorporate BUILD IT into the website itself, rather than existing as a stand-alone site. For this project, we chose to use LibWizard, a recent add-on to LibApps, the platform we use to create our library LibGuides. LibWizard was introduced just a couple of years ago and one of its stated uses is to create interactive tutorials to show students how to use the library and its tools. Intended more for short tutorials, we may have stretched it to its limit with the 100 plus pages that make up BUILD IT including five modules, five interactive quizzes, and several videos. LibWizard, though challenging to use in this way, provided opportunities to give BUILD IT a more modern look and feel, with embedded videos, a side column, and more interactivity while providing a stable new home.
While the redesign process provided us these new opportunities, we also encountered a number of challenges. When the redesign process began, LibWizard was a new platform with a steep learning curve and limited customization options. Rebuilding BUILD IT within this new platform involved thinking about the presentation of the tutorials content in a new way, and working with custom CSS and HTML elements to help see through our vision. The LibWizard platform has had multiple updates throughout the last year which have helped move the redesign along, while simplifying our design process and bringing much needed stability to the platform.
This new LibWizard version of BUILD IT is now in available for “Beta” testing. This means that while some pages, features, and functionality may continue to change over the coming months, it is ready for review and feedback from the Bellevue University faculty and student communities. We are hoping to use the feedback provided during this “Beta” testing to improve the look, feel, and usability of the tutorial, with an estimated launch date of Summer 2018.
