Misty (Ray Stevens) - A country cover song of a jazz standard
"Misty" is a jazz standard composed in 1954 by pianist Erroll Garner. With the later added lyrics by Johnny Burke the song became an evergreen in the field of pop music as well. Country and pop singer Ray Stevens had a number 14 hit with his version of "Misty" in 1975 on the Billboard Hot 100. His version won a Grammy in the category of Music Arrangement of the Year.
In this cover song I sang the main voice and again the three part choir in the chorus and added some more voices towards the end. Also the little falsetto parts in the middle of the vocal lines were fun again.

Der Country- und Popsänger Ray Stevens hatte 1975 mit seiner Version von "Misty" einen Nummer-14-Hit in den Billboard Hot 100. Seine Version gewann einen Grammy in der Kategorie "Musikarrangement des Jahres".
Bei diesem Coversong habe ich neben der Hauptstimme auch wieder den dreistimmigen Chor im Refrain eingesungen und gegen End noch einige weitere Stimmen hinzugehfügt. Auch die kleinen Falsetto-Teile mitten in den Gesangslinien haben wieder Spaß gemacht.

"Lucille" is a song written by Roger Bowling and Hal Bynum, and recorded by American country music artist Kenny Rogers. It was released in January 1977 as the second and final single from the album Kenny Rogers. It became Rogers' first major hit as a solo artist after leaving the successful country/rock group The First Edition the previous year. An international hit, it reached number 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart and number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Overseas, "Lucille" reached the top of the UK Singles Chart in June 1977, the first of Rogers' two number one singles there.
In this cover song I sang the main voice and the three-part choir in the chorus. Each choir part is sung three times and arranged differently in the stereo spectrum. A special challenge was the scratchy sound of Kenny Rogers' voice, which I tried to imitate a bit. Listen for yourself if it was successful.

Bei diesem Coversong habe ich neben der Hauptstimme auch den dreistimmigen Chor im Refrain eingesungen. Jede Chorstimme ist dreifach gesungen und im Stereo-Spektrum unterschiedlich angeordnet. Besondere Herausforderung war der kratzige Ton von Kenny Rogers, denn ich versucht habe ein wenig nachzuahmen. Hört selbst, ob es gelungen ist.

Looking for a song with polyphonic vocals, this time I got stuck on Crosb, Stills & Nash. On this song I sang all vocals. Each of the three main voices was sung three times, so in the end you can hear nine voices.

Auf der Suche nach einem Song mit mehrstimmigem Gesang, bin ich diesmal bei Crosb, Stills & Nash hängen geblieben. Bei deisem Song habe ich alle Vokalstimmen gesungen. Jede der drei Hauptstimmen wurde dreifach eingesungen, saomit sind letztlich neu Stimmen zu hören.

Tenterfield Saddler (Peter Allen) - A country style cover song
"Tenterfield Saddler" is a song written by Peter Allen in 1970. It was released in 1972 as the second single from his second studio album of the same name. It tells the moving story of the musician's life, from his much-loved grandfather, George Woolnough, his troubled relationship with his father and moving to New York to marry Liza Minnelli, "a girl with an interesting face". "Tenterfield Saddler" made its ARIA chart debut in September 2015 following the screening of the Peter Allen Australian mini-series, Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door. Peter Allen died much too early in 1992, age 48.
I heard this song for the first time in a duet version with Olivia Newton-John. She released the song on her 2002 album "2" and sang it live in duet with Peter Allen using a video installation. I sang the song alone in Peter Allen's version and added some additional voices towards the end of the song.

Sundown (Gordon Lightfoot) - A quiet country cover song
"Sundown" is a song by Canadian folk artist Gordon Lightfoot, from the eponymous album, released as a single in March 1974. "Sundown" reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and easy listening chartsand No. 13 on the Hot Country singles chart. It was Lightfoot's only single to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100. The song's lyrics seem to describe a troubled romantic relationship, with the narrator recounting an affair with a "hard-loving woman [who's] got me feeling mean". There are rumours that "Sundown" was inspired by Lightfoot's then girlfriend, Cathy Smith, later more infamously known for her involvement in the 1982 drug-related death of actor John Belushi. Lightfoot has commented in interviews that Smith was "the one woman in my life who most hurt me".
In this song I sang the main voice and the three part background vocals. If you listen carefully, you can also discover a fourth voice, which I have added from time to time from the middle of the song. Sung, mixed and published today!

"Sundown" ist ein Song des kanadischen Folk-Künstlers Gordon Lightfoot aus dem gleichnamigen Album, das im März 1974 als Single veröffentlicht wurde. "Sundown" erreichte Platz 1 der U.S. Billboard Hot 100 und Easy Listening Charts und Platz 13 der Hot Country Single Charts. Es war Lightfoot's einzige Single, die die Nummer 1 auf der Hot 100 erreichte. Der Text des Liedes scheint eine unruhige romantische Beziehung zu beschreiben, wobei der Erzähler von einer Affäre mit einer "hartgesottenen Frau" berichtet, die mir das Gefühl gab, gemein zu sein. Es gibt Gerüchte, dass "Sundown" von Lightfoot's damaliger Freundin Cathy Smith inspiriert wurde, die später für ihre Beteiligung am drogenbedingten Tod des Schauspielers John Belushi 1982 bekannt wurde. Lightfoot hat in Interviews kommentiert, dass Smith "die einzige Frau in meinem Leben war, die mich am meisten verletzt hat".
Bei diesem Song habe ich die Hauptstimme und den dreistimmigen Background-Gesang eingesungen. Wer genau hinhört, kann auch eine vierte Stimme entdecken, die ich ab der Mitte des Songs ab und zu hinzugefügt habe. Heute gesungen, gemischt und veröffentlicht!

Slow Down (Douwe Bob) - A Country coversong from the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest
"Slow Down" is a song performed by Dutch singer Douwe Bob. The song represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and was written by Bob along with Jan Peter Hoekstra, Jeroen Overman, and Matthijs van Duijvenbode. In the final, the Netherlands placed eleventh out of the 26 participating countries, scoring 153 points.
I watched the whole ESC show and there was only one song I really liked. No big show, not over-produced - just a little nice country song, sung by a young handsome guy. Lucky for me, there was a backing track available und so I sang the lead and backing vocals and added this song to my collection of country songs - Yee-hah!

Slow Down (Douwe Bob) - Ein Country-Coversong aus dem 2016er ESC
Slow Down ist ein Lied des niederländischen Sängers Douwe Bob. Er hat mit dem Lied die Niederlande beim Eurovision Song Contest 2016 vertreten. Der Song wurde von Douwe Bob, Jan Peter Hoekstra, Jeroen Overman und Matthijs van Duijvenbode geschrieben und am 5. März 2016 veröffentlicht. Im Finale erreichten die Niederlande mit 153 Punkten Platz 11 von 26 teilnehmenden Ländern.
Ich habe die gesamte ESC-Show im Fernsehen gesehen und es gab eigentlich nur einen Song, der mir richtig gut gefallen hat. Keine große Show, nicht überproduziert - einfach nur ein kleiner netter Country-Song, gesungen von einem jungen gutaussehenden Typen. Zum Glück gab es einen Backingtrack mit der Musik zu kaufen, so dass ich in diesem Song die Haupt- und Chorstimmen einsingen und den Song meiner Country-Sammlung hinzufügen konnte.

Gentle on My Mind (Glen Campbell) - A country cover song
"Gentle on My Mind" is a song written by John Hartford, which won four 1968 Grammy Awards. Hartford himself won the award for Best Folk Performance and Best Country & Western Song (Songwriter). The other two awards Best Country & Western Solo Vocal Performance, Male and Best Country & Western Recording, went to American country music singer Glen Campbell for his version of Hartford's song. It was released in June 1967 as the only single from the album of the same name. Three versions of the song, Campbell's, Dean Martin's and Patti Page's, all reached the top ten of the U.S. easy listening chart in 1968. The song was ranked number 16 on BMI's Top 100 Songs of the Century. Altogether it has been recorded by over 300 different artists, though Campbell's version remains the best known in the United States.
This cover song was inspired by the sad fact that Glen Campbell isn't feeling well and is struggling with Alzheimer's disease. I sang the lead vocals and added a second and even a third harmony voice in the second half of the song. Special thanks go to jeff Allen and Barb Goss to help me get the right country feeling and proper pronunciation.

Ich habe die Hauptstimme gesungen und im weiteren Verlauf des Songs eine zweite sowie sogar eine dritte Harmoniestimme hinzugefügt. Diesmal geht ein spezieller Dank an Jeff Allen und vor allem Barb Goss, die mir geholfen haben, das spezielle Country-Feeling und auch die korrekte Aussprache für den Song zu entwickeln.
