Developing a sense of love and family within your business leads to greater success. Jake Sasseville is the CEO and Founder of Imiloa Institute in Costa Rica, where he helps to cultivate experiences that incite a profound sense of growth. When developing growth and comradery in your business, start with yourself and be committed to your own growth and authenticity first, and this will directly reflect on your business. The sense of happiness and fulfillment within a company should be judged by the quality of life of its gardener and housekeeper equivalents, so when you ensure that you are compensating all your employees ethically and responsibly, everybody wins. To further deepen the sense of familiarization amongst your team, treat yourself and your team to transformational experiences like retreats that foster a sense of unity and relaxation. When you invest in yourself and your team in this way, the return on investment is clear, and you will see the results in your business.
Notes:
🇨🇷 Jake is a serial media music and hospitality entrepreneur, author, podcaster, and the CEO and founder of Imiloa Institute in Costa Rica: the White House named him one of the most innovative entrepreneurs under 30. 01:37
❤️ Jake discovered that the more “unreasonably hospitable” they got, the more successful they became: people are longing for a sense of belonging. 05:11
👨🌾 If the company is successful, it's not because of the CEO, but it is a reflection of what they are willing to look at as a human being: celebrate your housekeepers and gardeners, and it will cultivate an incredible sense of love, ownership, and fellowship across the organization. 08:09
🧡 You can make virtual fun by introducing familiarization trips and allowing your team to deepen: Jennifer shows respect to all the employees by dividing bonuses in the company equally. 15:41
🏡 Jake created a sense of home in his retreats, leaving out business, spiritual, and thematic elements at the start: each retreat is like a perfect storm with a sense of healthy support and readiness to serve. 20:39
📊 Track the data after a retreat or other investment in yourself, and you'll see it's not just some woo-woo language. 28:12

❓ What is your story really about: it's not necessarily about flexing your organization's muscles, but how you're changing the lives of the people you serve. 13:02
👉 How to market to the disabled community: acknowledging what the person is telling you and understanding that our projections are not what others really need. 14:58

You can leverage the misery of your burnout to pull yourself back into a place of joy and success. Reena Vokoun is the CEO of Passion Fit, where she empowers women to flourish both personally and professionally through wellness. Sometimes it can be hard to admit to yourself when you are not performing at your best, but self-awareness is the first step to tackling burnout. When you get to the point where you can't take the constant stress anymore, leverage that discomfort to make some changes and cut out some time to recover. Take some time to find something in your life you are passionate about and schedule it into your calendar so you can get that grounding and refreshing spark back into your life. When you take time for self-care and schedule that joy back into your life, you can get back to being your best self and continue propelling yourself forward to success.

Learning to process and understand your emotions can reveal important lessons for moving forward with a successful business. Shulamit Ber Levtov is an entrepreneur's therapist and works with women business owners on their mental and emotional health journey. Being an entrepreneur is an emotional rollercoaster, and many business owners experience the struggle of dealing with their emotions in the business world. When you shut off your stress and frustration to cope, or to appear more confident and professional, it's easy to become overwhelmed and to feel isolated, and it can prevent us from having the resources needed to handle life and business properly. We must learn to set boundaries for ourselves and seek the support of others to help us do the heavy lifting and experience the growth we need to succeed. Accept the gift of the lesson that your emotions are trying to teach you, so you can move forward with greater insight and clarity!
Notes:
👔 Shulamit is the entrepreneurs' therapist and the cofounder of The Business Therapy Center, who works with women business owners to care for their mental and emotional well-being: entrepreneurs need therapists who understand entrepreneurship. 03:21
🚬 Isolation affects your physical health as much as smoking 15 cigarettes a day: the nature of isolation for entrepreneurs is unique. 05:54
💪 Entrepreneurs are strong, capable, competent people who are even stronger with support. 08:51
💭 Emotions can appear through self-talk and thoughts: when you spend a little time with the parts of you that are frustrated, you can learn important information about the steps you need to take to move your businesses forward. 11:47
😨 The habit of caring for yourself is the real gold that makes you more resourced and helps you handle the rest of your life better: fear tells you to pay attention and keeps you humble. 16:59
✅ "Big T trauma explodes, and small t trauma erodes" - small erosive events that occur over and over again can also result in a traumatized nervous system: the same event can impact people differently depending on the support and recovery they have. 24:45
📱 Boundary challenges can come from trauma and cause survival instincts that stay too long: get a separate phone, have one for business and one for home so you can step away and have more gumption, energy, and enthusiasm the next day. 30:56
🫶 We have intimacy with our business, just like with our beloveds: intimacy is built through communication and trust with ourselves, our beloveds, and our business. 37:59

Living in the higher emotions is a choice, and it will lead us to success. Michele Phillips is the founder of Key Performance and specializes in increasing happiness and individual performance in the workplace. We can work on increasing our happiness by making intentional shifts in our lives, like taking time for self-care and positive activities that motivate and inspire us. It's important that we never sacrifice our happiness to achieve our goals, and sometimes we need help from an outside perspective, like a coach, to maintain a positive mindset and strategy during this process. Happiness is a powerful decision to make, and we can work on it and develop it as a habit in our lives so it becomes part of who we are and how we show up. When you choose to be happy, you are an asset to yourself, your business, and the world around you!
😊 Michele is the founder of Key Performance & the author of Happiness is a Habit: happy people have happy habits. 02:02
🏞️ When people regularly do something mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally for themselves, they feel better: a walk in the woods with a loved one hits all four. 04:17
💗 Happiness is just as important as any other goal: I'm of great help to everybody when I am in those higher emotions. 07:21
🛏️ Successful people take time to tune themselves in the morning: the energy you create first thing in the morning is what you take with you. 10:20
💭 In the positive psychology world, the difference between optimists and pessimists was how they processed and explained life events. 13:11
🤝 To be optimistic, bring your happy game into conversations: a coach helps you see your pessimism, but it sometimes takes time to accept it. 15:23
🔳 Know when you're emotionally hijacked: we all have a negative voice, but we also have a positive side that we don't always tune into. 19:30
👔 Busy people are boring - if you have focus and goals, you should have time to work out, manage your finances, spend time with your family and make money joyfully: what's your happiness portfolio? 23:07
🥳 When you're stuck, hire a coach to get an outside perspective and be able to pivot the strategy: you can make new positive habits in 90-day cycles. 27:25

In business, better health equals more money. Hally Brooke is the Founder & CEO of Live Nourished Coaching, where she helps entrepreneurs make changes to their lifestyles to treat and prevent illness and stress. It's no secret that the life of a business owner is exceptionally busy and stressful, but making your health a priority is essential for success. Multiple studies have shown that business owners who prioritize their self-care make more money, have happier employees, and have overall more successful businesses. Making self-care a part of your daily routine gives you time to recharge, gain clarity, and live your life more productively and happily. Don't wait until you have health issues to start prioritizing your self-care!
Notes:
👱♀️ Hally worked herself into stress and illness, but overcame it: working with entrepreneurs on movement, nutrition, mindset, resilience, and relationships, while her team handles regular functional medicine patients. 01:17
🧯 Functional medicine is a root cause medicine - it treats the root causes so all the symptoms go away. 03:36
👉 Functional medicine is preventative and thriving medicine, but people come to functional medicine when nothing else has worked: find a practitioner who treats you like an expert in your body. 06:48
🧬 It takes four months minimum for every cell in your body to die and be made new: you can’t reverse things in a week. 12:17
💲 A Forbes study shows that business owners who take care of their health and well-being make more money: working through lunch means you’re having a less successful business. 15:01
🔆 Nourish nutrition, movement, mind and spirit, and relationships - implement these 4 baselines to create a snowball effect. 21:47
🚶 You must commit to a 30-minute walk, 5 days a week, for your first 5 days. 26:52
🧑⚕️ Don’t just keep cranking. Give yourself a break, and you'll figure out the answer: find a doctor or a nutritionist, depending on the level you're ready to go for. 29:29
🌷 Don't be the person who has to lose their health to get appreciation and gratitude for taking care of it. 32:16

Writing workshops are a very rewarding workplace wellness activity. Kim Anderson is the founder of The Unapologetic Pen and shares her passion for helping people process their thoughts and reduce stress through writing. In many workplaces, we are expected to drop our humanity at the door, and this can make for a very unnatural and stressful environment without the addition of activities that allow us to feel more human. Writing and sharing your thoughts can be a great team-building exercise that leads to increased emotional intelligence, better communication, and less stress. While writing, you receive similar benefits to meditation and have the time to process your thoughts and emotions, which helps us show up more authentically. Slow down, put a pen to some paper, and release your stress!
🧠 Kim does unapologetic writing workshops: writing whatever comes into your mind helps you listen to your brain. 02:01
✍️ Writing workshops are an alternative to meditation: writing in groups makes us more human and connected. 06:43
✅ Workshops in person are more vulnerable than virtual ones: virtual workshops help people compensate for micro-interactions that are missing in fully remote environments. 13:53
⭐ A healthy outlet for our emotions and the things on our mind makes us focus better on our work: when we get comfortable with ourselves and our thoughts on paper, it's easier to show up authentically. 18:16
💙 Developing emotional intelligence improves the whole team. 21:18

How can you expect to be hired as an expert if you don’t want to hire experts yourself? Jeffrey Shaw is the founder of Self-Employed Business Institute and coaches entrepreneurs, so they can spend more time doing what they are great at and focus on building the life of their dreams. When starting the entrepreneurial journey, it is common for business owners to get stuck in the trap of working on marketing, building their business, and having little time to do what they are great at, and what makes them money. The key to getting out of the trap is getting a new perspective because it's difficult to see the label that your business needs when you are so far inside the jar. When you invest in the services of others, you can fast-track the development and growth of your business and focus on doing more of what makes you money, and more of what you love. Don't try to be an expert on everything, hire a coach and get the nudge you need to build the life of your dreams!
🥚 Jeffrey began his entrepreneurial experience selling eggs door to door when he was 14 years old: rewards are greater than fears. 01:52
📸 After 25 years in a very successful photography business, Jeffery started coaching: no one taught his clients to make money from their talents and skills. 04:17
❗ The rule of thirds trap - you end up spending a third of your time running your business, a third of your time marketing to get the business, and only a third of your time doing what makes money. 08:38
🤗 What is “Hug Marketing”: a different marketing approach. 11:25
❌ There's no silver bullet, and it's not one size fits all: thinking like that is disrespecting the diversity of the world. 14:42
🫙 Being in the jar: engage with experts to help and nudge you because no one goes into business and immediately has that nailed down - the real sweet spot is 2–5 years. 17:31
🌼 Why 55-60-year-olds leave their corporate job: they are wise enough to realize they don't want to spend forever figuring stuff out. 21:39
📈 The problem of silo-minded business owners: everyone needs a coach, you can’t do all things yourself - you are not an expert in everything. 25:42
🕯️ Be willing to reinvest in what you want to get in return: packaging trick from Bergdorf Goodman’s store. 29:04

True fulfillment and success in business come from doing the inner work. Tony Wang is a business coach that helps leaders tackle their inner work so they can achieve a more meaningful and fulfilling version of success. The journey to success is so much more than material goods, and without healing our inner wounds, we can never truly feel fulfilled.
Real fulfillment and happiness come from having a positive mindset and deep emotional awareness, and tactical achievements will never feel as good without it. If you are struggling with inner wounds and your emotional health is affecting your ability to run your business, find a coach, healer or therapist to help you accelerate your journey. You don't have to suffer alone, you can break through to the next level and find real fulfillment and a renewed love for life!
🔵 Tony is a business coach and mentor who helps business leaders and entrepreneurs redesign their thoughts, emotions, and beliefs to create a more fulfilling life: Tony helps his clients overcome their negative mental patterns and unconscious self-sabotaging patterns to achieve more success and happiness. 01:56
🌱 Fulfillment doesn't come from the outside - it comes from the inside: plant medicines helped Tony go through his inner work. 07:37
🟡 Healing wounds is part of business achievements: the journey of accomplishment, success, and spirituality are the same. 10:26
❗ Imposter syndrome and procrastination are the most common problems Tony's clients face: when you feel resistance, be aware of your emotional state as you think about the problem. 12:39
🧡 Feel what you're feeling, but don't add that second layer of junk on top of it: the truest level of freedom is on the emotional side. 16:40
◽ We are the way we are to fulfill the goals of our identity: we have 1000s of identities that we're shifting through, depending on our goals. 20:19
🟣 In the beginning, getting a coach will speed up your progress: as you gain more awareness, you can start doing more self-inner work. 23:37

To prevent burnout, we must reevaluate our checklists. Teresa Vozza is a leadership expert and executive coach who shares her passion and wisdom on getting in alignment with your true values. The idea that busyness equates directly to importance is a toxic paradigm that we need to break away from because many of us are stuck in a workaholic mindset and have become addicted to crossing endless tasks off our lists. Less can be more, and in order to move forward with a more sustainable lifestyle, we need to focus on making choices that align with our values and stop doing everything else. When you practice meaningful intent and focus on your vision, you can avoid burnout and live a happier and healthier life. Drop your addiction to busyness and focus on what really matters!
🌹 Teresa is a leadership expert with over 20 years of corporate experience: productivity is really about making choices that align with your values and stopping those activities that don't. 02:13
🗒 The rush of energy and adrenaline comes from crossing 6-7-8 things off your list: are the items on your list really meaningful? 04:24
❗️ We must rewire the belief that more is better: focus on meaningful intent because busyness does not necessarily equate to importance. 07:54
✅️ You can't operate where you're at today to achieve the kind of success that you want tomorrow: sustainable success is not made by constantly proving yourself. 11:55
👫 The entry point for Teresa's women clients is psychological well-being & the second curve: with male clients, it's more about the absence of stress and pressure, and improving relationships. 16:05
💪 Power is not fake it until you make it, but practice it until you embody it. 20:14
⏳️ The second curve is when we come to that critical point in our careers, and we ask ourselves “What it is all for?”: we are no longer willing to trade in dollars for time. 23:2
👨💼 A sense of belonging on a team, the freedom to express ideas and thoughts, and welcoming the diversity of opinion create a good work environment. 27:04
🤝 There is a power in communication when people are eyeball to eyeball: human-to-human contact and conversation is where bonds are created and unity is formed. 30:44

It’s getting easier and easier to create a 7-figure business as a solopreneur. Elaine Pofeldt is an independent journalist and author who shares her passion for studying successful entrepreneurship. As we journey into the digital age, we are seeing the rise of new, successful business models that favor smaller businesses and fewer employees. More employees no longer means more revenue because technology and outsourcing are expanding the limitations of what a single person with a non-employer business can accomplish. A one-person business can be incredibly lucrative, but it can also be very isolating, so make sure you stay networked with other people and share your experience and knowledge with others. It’s easier than ever to be a one-person show and build the successful business of your dreams, so start your solopreneur journey today!
👩💼 Elaine is an independent journalist specializing in entrepreneurship: she's the author of The Million-Dollar One-Person Business & Tiny Business, Big Money. 02:04
📚 Writing about entrepreneurship made Elaine connect with entrepreneurs: she asked readers of Forbes how they succeeded, gathered that knowledge, and put it in a book. 03:35
📄 We're leaving the coercive world of work and entering one that's much more voluntary: Jennifer shares how she developed her company to seven figures via contractors. 11:55
🤝 Contractors also prosper by gaining experience and knowledge - it's a beautiful thing where everybody can help each other and rise together: being a solopreneur can be lonely. 17:35
🕴️ Around 45% of the 7-figure owners belong to entrepreneurship groups, and 37% have a business coach: friends and family often don't understand entrepreneurs. 20:37
💲 Professional services are a large portion of 7-figure businesses. 22:48
🖥️ 7-figures businesses generally have contractors and self-invest, and 90% use automation: automation empowers people to build upon it and lean into the things only humans can do. 26:12
👉 You are the most precious resource of your business - leverage things only you can do: leave the industrial mindset behind and embrace capital-efficient methodologies. 30:45

Learning to be vulnerable with others can benefit your relationships, your health and your business. Owen Marcus is the cofounder of Evryman, a wellness company for men that seeks to help men connect and grow emotionally. The majority of men are raised to believe that showing vulnerability and emotion is a sign of weakness, and it’s time that we destigmatize this. Getting in touch with your emotions can relieve chronic stress, strengthen relationships, and make you more creative and collaborative in business. We all learn and let our guard down through modeling and example, so the more you show up as your authentic self, the more you will attract emotional connections with others. Let your guard down, be vulnerable, and help create a culture of real connection!
🙋♂️ Owen helps men learn the emotional skills they were never taught. 02:23
✅ Emotional physiology skills help men deal with stress and start naturally connecting to others: men are vulnerable in a different way than women, and they often don't have authentic, vulnerable, and powerful men around them. 05:59
🔵 Owen gets guys to talk about stress or physiology to make them open up emotionally. 09:46
🤝 Connection to other people goes up when you stop going into your survival response: we feel safe because we co-regulate each other. 12:20

I am so super excited our podcast today, we are welcoming our guests, Sherria Reid. Our podcast is called, Unbreakable, and we are sharing stories. Women's stories of things that they have gone through that have really, and truly helped them to become unbreakable. Today we get to share the experience with Sherria as she talks her a particular story where she faced a challenge that once she faced it, overcame it, and it helped her to become unbreakable.
Sherria is a mom, a mom of a nine-year-old and a wife of 13 years. She has been in corporate America for several decades managing technical partnerships with a formal background, computer scientists and public health analyst. In 2017 she launched Butler Owens and Reid, a financial capital company.
Sherria grew up in very humble beginnings. I was poor. I was raised by my grandmother and my mom and dad were both on drugs. I went to school, got my education, but somewhere along the path I recognized was that a lot of the trauma from my childhood was holding me down.
Listen in to find out how Sherria became unbreakable through a series of life events. . .
Sherria found herself breaking through the negative whirlwind to come out UNBREAKABLE! Her amazing story will inspire everyone second guessing decisions and living with past trauma.
I find that sometimes the people with the biggest smiles on their face have had the most traumatic stories and had to have had to overcome the most. They choose to have a smile on their face. They have known that other side.

In this super exciting episode, we are talking about our upcoming 4-day Retreat happening in Montana in May. This will be our Unbreakable retreat for business owners to get clarity, build confidence and push their limits. But this is more than just a business retreat, no no, it is so unique because we are combining business and life coaching with a Spartan race to top it all off!
If you’ve never heard of a Spartan race, it’s an obstacle course that’s become a huge part of my life. My sister Alesha got me into them, and from the moment I did one (and did not die), I was hooked. Last year I completed 12 Spartan Races, with the last 3 being a beast which are half marathons. Spartans have completely transformed my life, especially my mental toughness. And the amazing thing is that the tougher I’ve become physically, the more my business has grown. That is where the idea of the Unbreakable Retreat came from.
I am joined by three special guests this episode, Adrienne Garland, founder of She Leads Media and marketing strategist, Julie Moses, our vision, goal and accountability coach, and Alesha Burkeen, our health and fitness coach and marketing manager (and my sister!). All of these ladies will join me at the Unbreakable Retreat in May - how exciting!
So join us in this episode where we will talk about our journeys that got us to where we are today (and the lessons we’ve learned), how pushing yourself physically spills over into other areas in your life in the best way possible, what you can expect with our upcoming Unbreakable Retreat and so much more. This one is jam packed - I promise!

Today I am joined by a media personality and award-winning CNBC syndicated talk show host and producer, number-one best-selling author, inspirational speaker, organizational psychologist, filmmaker, broadcast journalist, life balance coach, a retired professor, and lounge lizard, Dr. Marissa. The list of accomplishments goes on and on and this episode truly shows why.
As Dr. Marissa strongly believes, we were born to be happy. Happiness is a birthright that we have forgotten. Most of us go from being a worry-free kid who can truly enjoy life to being an adult who is constantly bombarded by trauma, pain, shame, and judgement. In fact, 7 out of 10 people have gone through some sort of past trauma that still haunts them in the present day. All of this gets in the way of our ability to truly be happy.
So what can we do about this? We chose differently. We see what is causing us unhappiness and dis-ease, and we chose a new path, a new reality for ourselves. It all lies in the power of choice. A choice you make every single day to take the responsibility for your own happiness and reclaim your birthright.
This one is jam-packed with value. I promise you that. You will not want to miss this episode.

I am back with a solo episode (it has been a while), but it feels so good to have an intimate chat with you all. In this episode I share a couple of anecdotes that taught me great lessons about pace. What I learned was that when I overexert myself, and push too hard, that can rob my joy. And when joy is missing in something that I do, I know that is when I need to pay attention and re-calibrate. In this go go go world we live in, we can move at such a fast pace that it comes at the expense of our own happiness. That is simply no way to live.
In times when you feel like your pace is too fast, you are overexerting yourself, I invite you to take an honest look at the pace you are going and whether it is serving you at the highest level. Do you need to slow down just a little bit, just to that point where your joy comes back? On the flip side, if you are not making any progress on your goals, do you need to bump up the pace and start taking daily intentional action?
In this episode I share my experiences that taught me great lessons on pace, and how to recalibrate yourself to find your ideal pace to push forward in the direction of joy.

In this conversation, Michael walks us over the process of working with a designer and she shares her best tips on how to make this a smooth and ultimately rewarding experience. But beyond design, we also discuss the importance of having the right space around you. In order to attain a happy and productive state, we need to be in spaces that support us and allow us to evoke the emotions that make us feel good.
Join us on this episode as we go over the importance of having trust in your designer, how to gain self awareness to find what works for you, why it’s worth investing in your space, and so much more.

Today I am joined by Bobbi Kahler, who was given a 2% chance of living when she got sick and collapsed 17 years ago. Cut to today where she is a speaker and trainer with over 20 years of experience. She’s built a coaching career where she has worked with over 3,000 people and has become an entrepreneur, author, podcast host, workshop leader, avid athlete and resilient survivor.
Through her own personal transformation journey she has learned that no matter what we are facing, thriving is absolutely possible. We are the authors of our stories and it is our choices, day in and day out, that dictate what kind of life we are able to live. Bobbi is no stranger to adversity having faced childhood abuse, and needing to work multiple jobs at 23 just to say afloat. But through her perseverance, resilience and life lessons she’s learned, she rewrote her own narrative.
In this episode Bobbi and I share an insightful conversation on how important our choices are, how much power we actually have over our lives, and how you can change your life starting today.

When John Davis was 22 years old, he was told by doctors they were not sure if he’d ever walk again. John had picked up a heavy box of clay and broke his spine in two. He collapsed and was paralyzed. He was told for a fact he’d never have a physical career. However, John did not let that day take his dreams away. In fact, he went on to live the life of an action hero. He’s been a professional fight director and a stunt man for stage and screen. He's an artistic director of three regional theme parks, a sword-fighting comedian, a motivational speaker, an author, and a coach. He’s also taken his inspirational message to 16 countries around the world, including the frontlines of Iraq and Afghanistan, on 6 USO tours.
How was John able to overcome his diagnosis and not let his circumstance define him? His mindset. John decided that day that he was in charge of his own experience, that despite what happened to him, he decided what was possible for him, not what others told him. Despite all the fears thrown his way, he rooted himself in the fact that we only live one present moment, and that is where all our power lies.
In this super powerful episode, we deep dive into the importance of having the right mindset, regardless of what you want to accomplish or what you are going through. We also talk about how to dissipate fear, what you need to understand about how the subconscious mind works, and how to maximize the present moment to achieve anything in your life.
I could have talked to John all day. This one is good, I promise! For a special free gift John is giving our audience, his 5F Workbook, click on this link and check him out at www.corporateactionhero.com.

Today I am joined by Heather Dawn (and no, we are not related), a Certified Clinical Nutritionist and the founder of Conscious Nutrition. Her mission is to help provide a solid foundation to teach others how to nourish themselves with their food. Heather is a recovering Type-A nutritionist seeking perfection, only to realize the body is brilliant, and we just have to learn how to listen.
Our relationship with food can be quite complicated. Like any relationship, it can contain limiting beliefs, judgments, and habits that can hold us back from being the healthiest version of ourselves. Many of us have an emotional attachment to food, making it so difficult to restrict ourselves or follow deprivation diets. Taking a deeper look at our food habits can serve as a gateway into looking deeper within ourselves. Are we using food to numb out? Are we using food to fill a void? Are we using food because we have a scarcity mindset? Are we using food to avoid unresolved emotions?
In order to use food to feel good about ourselves, we need to take a closer look at our eating habits, not just what we are putting in our bodies but also why. Heather and I shared a great conversation on food, nutrition, habits, tips, mindset, strategies, and so much more to help you redefine your relationship with food and inspire a healthier and happier you.
This one is jam-packed with value, I promise!

Today’s episode takes a closer look at a very specific aspect of running an online business; Search Engine Optimization (SEO). What exactly is it? It’s the process of improving your website to increase its visibility for searches. In other words, it’s how easily people who are looking for you on Google can find you. Just think of how often you turn to Google to find an answer or a service provider. Those search results on that first page, those sites have good SEO.
In this episode, we deep dive into all aspects of SEO, what it is, how to optimize it, how to get results, what to avoid, and everything in between. My guest, SEO-expert John Vuong, shares valuable insight that he’s gathered from running his SEO agency, Local SEO Search, for eight years plus the decade he spent in advertising. Through his years in the industry, he has served over 5,000 local businesses and has built his agency from 3 people to now a group of 40 in-house experts covering all aspects of SEO.
In this episode, we discuss how vital it is for small business owners to cultivate a good SEO strategy, so they don’t miss out on the opportunity to serve potential customers who are willing to pay them. Ultimately, SEO allows you to connect with those who are looking for you. But how do you do that in an online space with endless competitors, with endless metrics to track, with endless things to know, with endless information and misinformation about SEO? Listen and find out!

In today’s solo episode I share an anecdote from a recent trip I took with my husband to Sedona for his 50th birthday. Nothing went according to plan, absolutely nothing, but it was a wonderful opportunity for me to practice surrendering and practicing the art of the pivot.
When you make plans, life laughs right? Life will almost never go according to plan, and in those moments we absolutely have a choice whether we are going to let that ruin our moods, ruin our day, ruin our experience, or worse. When we choose to surrender and pivot instead we are choosing to be willing to go in a different direction. In that choice we open ourselves up to solutions and possibly even better outcomes.
Relinquishing control and staying open to other possibilities has been such a key in my overall happiness. I truly believe mastering the art of the pivot is a really essential life skill. When I surrender to the present and I surrender to how things want to unfold (despite of what I want), my joy and my happiness can start to flow again. Through this I am no longer a victim of my circumstance, but rather I am in alignment with the Universe.
So join me in this episode where I share with you how you too can practice surrendering and become a master at pivoting.

Today’s topic is so important in having a successful and thriving business, customer service. I am joined by my guest, Dr. Kelly Henry. Dr. Henry, aka the Customer Service Doctor, was an award-winning chiropractor for 20 years where he helped his patients live healthier lives with the foundation of providing exceptional customer service. Since 2018, Dr. Henry has used his system to coach business leaders on improving customer service to create incredible growth and profits.
These days without happy customers a business simply cannot survive. You can have an excelled product or service, a kick-ass team, and have everything you need to run a successful business but if your customers are not happy, you will simply not survive. On the flip side, customer retention, customer loyalty, and customers leaving positive reviews or better yet spreading the word about your business could keep you afloat even in difficult times. We definitely saw that during Covid.
With Dr. Kelly we discussed the challenges and methods used to provide exceptional customer service. We talk about the importance of going through your own customer service by being your own customer and putting yourself in their shoes, how to adopt a service mentality, how to deal with negative customer feedback and why you should look at customer service as an investment.
For those business owners out there, you’ll love this episode!

Today I speak in depth about one of my favorite topics, HAPPINESS. But not just happiness, the science of happiness. I am joined by a very special guest, Scott Crabtree. Scott is the founder of and Chief Happiness Officer at Happy Brain Science. Scott empowers individuals and organizations to apply findings from cutting-edge neuroscience and psychology to boost productivity and happiness at work. When I first heard of Scott, I knew we spoke the exact same language, and I was not wrong.
In our chat, we take a deeper look at what it means to actually thrive instead of just being happy, and as Scott puts it, it does come down to a science. We also break down the 5 areas of well-being, which also happens to be the basis for the goals in my Best Planner Ever. Scott also shares how he got into this work by sharing his experiences working at Intel as an executive for many years and what drove him to switch career paths and devote himself to the science of happiness. As he puts it “if you really want to learn something, you should teach it,” and so his journey on this path begun.
This episode is jam-packed with value, and I promise, you will not want the episode to stop (I sure didn’t!). Other topics we cover include the choices we make that either contribute to our happiness or distance us from it, reframing stress as a useful source, the importance of a positive attitude, finding flow, the power of coaching, and so much more. So join me and Scott in this incredibly powerful episode!

Today is a very special episode as I am joined by an incredible woman with an incredible story. Jess Sinclair is a life coach and speaker, but beyond that she is a woman who has overcome major hardships in her life and has come out on top. This is by far one of the most powerful stories I have ever heard.
Jessica was abused at a very young age, grew up in poverty, her parents were divorced, and she got pregnant at 16. Needless to say the cards were stacked against her. However, none of that let her stop her from what she really wanted to do - go to college. Not only did she graduate high school while raising her child and working a part-time job, but she was elected President of her class, graduated in the top 10% of her class and was in the National Honor Society. Then she not only fulfilled her dream of going to college, but she also graduated with a bachelor's degree, then a master's degree and purchased her first home by the age of 25. Now she's the owner of her own business where deems herself as the Reset Coach and hopes to inspire and coach women to move forward in life after facing setbacks.
Jessica is the true embodiment that although statistics can be true, they don't have to be true for you and they certainly were not true for her. Her story is the definition of what you can accomplish when you focus your mind and energy on your goals, when you drop the victim mentality, when you own your truth, and when you take full ownership of who you want to be in this life.
Her story was so powerful I could have listened to her all day. This is a must-listen. Trust me.

In this special guest episode, I am joined by Rick Heyland, who is a published author, public speaker, podcast host and professional coach. He has been consulting for almost 35 years to help people businesses improve their performance. He is the founder of Continuous Improvement 4 Life, a consulting practice dedicated to help people and organizations find purpose and live with purpose to achieve extraordinary results.
Rick and I share similar passions in uncovering the secret formula to be both happy and productive. He conducted a fascinating survey of almost 1500 people spanning over 4 countries to pinpoint the common denominators of the happiest and the most productive people. He then took the results and wrote his book Live Your Purpose, a step-by-step guide to setting up and managing your best life.
In our chat we uncover what he found from his survey plus all of his years working in this field trying to uncover what do the happiest people have in common? We also discuss how to find your purpose if you are currently struggling to discover what that is, plus he shares key insights from his book, why small simple practices are so key, the power of acceptance, and lots more.

Harsh truth: Life is not perfect, and it never will be. Life is a rollercoaster, sometimes you’re on a high, sometimes you are on a low. But regardless, it is continuously moving and it won’t always be sunshines and rainbows. That was a harsh reality I had to learn after I realized that simply practicing the Law of Attraction, and thinking good thoughts would shield me from challenges, and bad things happening to me. I was wrong.
The good news? We are always in control of how we react to what life throws at us. Life is about experiences, and an experience is neither good nor bad until we deem it as such. We have the ability to look at any experience and see the good in it, if we choose to. The key is what you choose to take from your experiences. What did I learn? How am I growing? What will I do differently next time?
Those are all questions I ask myself when life throws a curveball my way, and if you know anything about my story, you know that I have faced many curveballs in my lifetime. But by letting go on the notion that life needs to be perfect, I’ve been able to create space for what needs to come into my life so that I can extract the good out of it, learn from it, and move on a better person.
And if I can, so can you! So join me in this episode as I break down how to live a Happy and Productive life no matter what.

Inspired by the collaborative book project I am working on, called The Energy of Abundance, I have created a 3-part series on my journey with abundance. I previously released Part 1: The Abundance Series: Patience. Here in part 2 I focus on Trust.
It is no secret that my start to life was not the easiest. I've gone through many hardships that left a lot of trauma and a lot of "why me" behind. At one point, life was really hard. So in order to attain what I thought would lead me to happiness, I turned all my focus on growing my bank account. I thought money would solve all my problems. That's what abundance meant right? I was wrong.
No matter how much I earned, there never seemed to be enough. It wasn't until I learned that abundance is an inside job where things truly began to change. During the hardest times of my life, I learned I could still feel abundant despite what I was going through. By committing to higher emotions, I started to rediscover trust, trust that everything was happening for me not to me. I rediscovered myself in that process.
I'd like to invite you into the 2nd part of this series where I take you inside my journey with abundance, what you can do today to connect to higher emotions, and what we can unleash inside of us when we lean into the power of trust.

As a keynote speaker and workshop leader, Anthony has years of experience working with groups to unlock untapped potential and foster authentic happiness.
We had a great discussion deep diving on both topics of happiness and productivity. Anthony shared some amazing tips on how he is able to stay productive, a quick way he inserts gratitude every single day, and the relationship between happiness and success. We also discussed how we have both been able to tap back into our own happiness after challenging periods in our lives.
As Anthony points out, "opportunities for happiness are all around us" and I believe that 100%. So join me in this episode to see how you can insert more happiness into your life.

Working from home has become a reality for many during these unprecedented times. For some, it's what they are used to and for others, it's become something they've had to get used to, and for many, it's still an adjustment they have yet to get used to.
So how do we optimize our productivity while working from home when there is no separation between work-life, and personal-life? How do we turn off our work-mode when we are now working on our kitchens or our bedrooms? How do we set healthy boundaries with our clients, our children, and ourselves?
These are all topics I discussed with my very special guest on this episode, Lori Baker-Schena, a leadership coach and professional speaker who works with business owners and entrepreneurs all across the country to increase their business by enhancing employee satisfaction.

My childhood was not the easiest of childhoods. In fact, my story had quite a rough start, and it created a lot of trauma that I carried with me for many years. Looking back, my life could have taken a very different direction, but I adopted a mentality early on which helped shape the course of my life, and that is that nobody was coming to rescue me.
I understood this even as a young 13-year old girl. I would tell myself that what happened to me would not beat me, it would not ruin my life, and I decided back then that I would be happy despite my life not having been ideal. This is a mentality I've taken on well into adulthood, and one I credit for helping me get to where I am today.
Life can be hard, we can all agree on that. But we all have the choice to do, act and be who we want to. When we decide to stop waiting for someone else to save us, and we take full ownership of our lives, we become our own heroes. When we make choices that are aligned with the goals we want to achieve, and we commit to making choices that push us forward despite our circumstances or what has happened to us, we become our own heroes. When we commit to doing the necessary hard work, when we use our minds to empower us, and when we decide that where we have been is not where will end up, we become our own heroes.
Join me in this powerful and raw episode where I share my story in the hopes of showing you that you too can become your own hero.

When I was younger my definition of abundance meant never having to worry about my money. Unfortunately, this also meant working myself into the ground for that money. I chased the financial success, I thought that would solve all my problems, but in the process I sacrificed myself and I never quite achieved what I was truly after: happiness, joy and fulfillment.
It wasn't until I shifted my mindset and I was able to fully understand what abundance really is that helped me attract it into my life. Abundance is so much more than just money. It's about freedom, finding your personal power, and knowing that whatever life presents to you it's all in your highest and best interest. To me, everything is in abundance, but if you're not in the right emotional place to recognize that, it's going to be lost upon you. It all comes down to mindset because ultimately what you think, you attract.

The emotional scale is a scale of our feelings and emotions in sequence from lower vibrational feelings highest. In the low states we have emotions like guilt, fear, jealousy, and anger and in the higher states we find passion, love, appreciation and joy.
Emotions can be extremely powerful. They directly impact how we feel, they influence our thoughts, and this translates into our actions and behaviors. When we operate with negative emotions it can feel like we are wearing dark glasses, and we simply can't see the light. We aren't as productive, we don't make the best choices, and joy, happiness or simply feeling good seems so far out of reach.
But it is through acceptance, through choice, and through understanding that like attracts like (a.k.a the Law of Attraction) that we are able to climb up the emotional scale from a low emotional state into a higher one. Life is filled with ebbs and flows that challenge us emotionally, but ultimately we have the power to use our emotions to push us forward rather than hold us back. We always have that choice.
Join me in this episode as I share an anecdote where I was in a state of anger, and I explain how I was able to move up the scale to ultimately end my day in a much better place than how it had started. With this knowledge I hope that you too can start living today in a state of higher emotions.

In this episode we will be deep diving into the topic of Happiness. As the host of the Happy Productive podcast, it is no surprise that this is one of my favorite topics ever.
Growing up I thought that getting things would make me happy, the job, the money, the car, the house, etc. And while yes those things did bring me happiness, it was short-felt, and not the long-term happiness I was after. It wasn't until I changed my programing and realized that getting things does not bring me happiness, but rather it's the happiness which helps me get the things I wanted.
Separating happiness from success is so important because in our culture today we tend to strive for these high levels of success thinking they will bring us happiness. But how many times have you achieved a goal and then thought "why am I still unhappy?"
While success does not lead to happiness, it is actually the happiness which help us achieve success. So why postpone your happiness until you reach a certain goal? Instead work towards cultivating more happiness into your life because it is when you operate from a place of happiness that you are able to operate at your highest potential, which will in turn make your goals absolutely inevitable.
Join me in this episode as I deep dive into the very important difference between success and happiness, and how we can access the happiness that is available to us at all times.

How many times do you go to yourself "I know should be doing this," or "I know I need to do that but I'll do it later," or "I know I should do this but I don't want to." We all get caught up in these "I know" thoughts, but oftentimes we don't follow through with action and actually do what we know we should.
When there is a disconnect between the knowing and the doing, it's because we are up in our heads, up in our egos, and up in that mind space which actually prevents us from taking action - the right kind of action. But the doing actually comes from the heart. When we get out of our heads and connect with our hearts we can cross over that bridge from just knowing into doing. This is key in helping you work towards your goals and seeing the results you are after.
Join me in this episode as I deep dive into this topic, and where I give you simple strategies you can implement today, right now to accomplish more doing rather than just knowing.

Today we are going to be talking about egos and typos. Now these two topics don't generally go together but I recently received a proposal from a potential vendor who claimed to be one of the top marketing strategists in the world. That's quite a bold statement, and on top of that, there was a typo in his proposal! Now that's a heck of a lot of ego if you ask me.
Our egos are not always a bad things, there's actually a lot of good things about our egos. They help us develop a strong sense of self, they help us develop our personality, they can make us more bold, daring and adventurous. But there are also many times when our egos they limit us, they can exhaust us, they can cause us to fall victim of crazy fears we come up with.
So how do we check our egos so they stop getting in our way? Join me in this episode where I deep dive into the topic of the ego.

Let’s face it – we all have crappy days. We get down in the dumps, depressed, overwhelmed or maybe just feeling like we have no idea if we are on the right path or not.
I had one of those days recently. I got out my own Well Being Assessment and as I started scoring myself first thing I realized is things were not quite as bad as I was making them.
This allowed me to drill down to the real problem of what was bothering me and from there I was able to break down my thinking and identify the thoughts causing the sadness.

Welcome to Happy Productive #7 and today let’s discuss the difference between success and happiness. Especially with everything going on today I think it’s more important than ever to understand what each of these actually mean.
One of the biggest mistakes I made for years and I work with my clients on, is making success and happiness mean the SAME THING.
They are not.

In the last week we’ve seen Corona Virus sweeping the planet – and in some cases amazing examples of social responsibility and people stepping up, and in other cases horrible acts of racism, panic, hoarding, and highest levels of government showing very disappointing leadership...
But here’s the deal, we can’t always look outside ourselves to our “leaders”. Instead, it’s a great opportunity to practice looking inside ourselves and tapping into our own leadership skills.
If we want to change the world – the first place we begin is within ourselves and that's why it's so important to drop the worry... let's listen in!

Hey, welcome to Happy Productive 5 and in this episode let’s dive into the kind of ACTION you are taking.
If you’ve ever studied Law of Attraction you know the basic principles are to get clear on what you want and then start taking action to get it.
However, I think there can be a LOT of confusion out there on the action piece of this…
Today I'm going deeper to bring more awareness to the kinds of action you can take plus what works and what doesn't.
When you know what kind of action you are taking it can really help you figure out why you are or are not getting the kind of results you want.

Welcome to Happy Productive Episode #4 where we ask the question: What Kind Of Productive Are You?
Every day you are taking actions – and those actions cause us to get results – and those results will generate emotions within us.
The emotions could be anything from happiness on one end of the scale to sadness on the other end. When I ask what kind of productive are you, I’m really asking…
Do your actions each day produce the emotions you want to feel more of? Or do your actions produce stress, chaos, overwhelm, shame, disappointment, or failure?
Listen in as we dive in further.

Overwhelm can feel like you have so much on your plate you don’t know what to do next, or no matter what you do you’ll disappoint someone.
It’s a terrible feeling and in a recent Gallop study they found 55% of Americans are stressed out and overwhelmed during their day. That’s 20% higher than the world average of 35%.
When we are going through our day overwhelmed we don’t think as clearly, we are not as productive as we could be, we make more mistakes, having to re-do work because we didn’t have the time to really think through it, that causes us to experience more negative emotions like disappointment, frustration, and shame, then all of that robs us of our happiness, health, and well being.
That’s why I feel it’s so important to start understanding overwhelm for what it truly is – and that may surprise you a bit. I know it was somewhat mind blowing for me when I first learned the truth about it.

In today’s lesson I want to talk about why you’re not achieving your goals and getting the results you want. And by not achieving your goals, you’re not living the life you want.
Results are tangible. You can see the money in your bank account, fit into your ideal jean size, you have the endurance to run the race, you have a great loving relationship, it’s real.
I was reading a book on productivity and the author summed it up almost painfully clear – look at all the work you are doing, and what results are you getting?
If you’re not getting the tangible, real-results you want, let’s look at why…

I’m spending extra time on overwhelm and getting it out of the picture in our lives because when you feel overwhelmed, stretched, stressed each day, there’s no space for you.
What I mean by this is when there’s no space, you won’t feel motivated to change your life – you are stuck in just surviving each day – you may not have the energy to care about your health, or pursue your hobbies or interests – when there’s no space and people ask you for things you may find yourself getting angry or defensive, or reacting in a way that’s kind of unpleasant to be around... then you feel guilty or shameful, beat yourself up and the process keeps repeating.
It’s so important to eliminate this state of overwhelm from your life so you can create the space you need to bring in the fun stuff like love, joy, laughter, and patience, compassion, understanding, gratitude. When you are in a constant state of busy, rush, hurry, survive the day, I have no idea what to do next, all those really wonderful feelings and emotions you WANT to be feeling get pushed to the side.
In this episode I'll also share my Brain Dump exercise and how to start asking Power Questions
