This episode was inspired by my daughter. At 6 years old everyday she is learning more and more about the concept of change. We discuss how change is a part of life at least 3-4 times a week. That's when it hit me! From young we are introduced to change yet no matter our age change never gets old. It's always new, it's always different, and even though it has greeted us a thousand times we never truly get to know it. As quickly as it comes as quickly as it goes. Change arrives without a Hi and it leaves without saying Goodbye. Which is why even the slightest change in our routine instantly makes us frown. Change is unique because it never happens exactly the same twice. My advice to Aliyah and to everyone else that listens is, change is a part of life just as much as oxygen is. In this episode I’ll be reciting a handful of poems all centered around change. Changes that occurred in my life that I couldn’t help but write down.

I take this topic to heart because being a leader is a way of life. There is no on and off switch to it. Either you were created to be one or you weren’t. Today we’ll be discussing the four major traits under the umbrella of leadership: Accountability, Communication, Motivation, and Judgment.
Unfortunately, today we'll be discussing the great inevitable which is death....Death is sudden. Even when it's expected it's still a painful surprise. Death is lonely. Losing a loved one leaves a hole in your heart that can never be filled. Death is final. Not being able to speak to someone again is a tough pill to swallow. That's one of the things that bother me the most about death, the silence that comes with it. It's so quiet yet so loud. I want to tribute this episode to my father-in-law, Bobby who has transitioned recently.

As a child one of the first goals we all shared and aspired to achieve was to grow old. At 5 we couldn’t wait to be 6. At 12 we couldn’t wait to be a teenager. At 16 we couldn’t wait to be an adult. At 18 we couldn't wait to legally have a drink. At 21 we couldn’t wait to get a lower quote from the car rental place once we reached 25. Somewhere around 25 we began to take our foot off the gas and begin pressing the brakes, because the feeling changed. Instead of growing old we want to be forever young. In this episode I share some intimate moments with you from my childhood. Remember the goal is to grow old, never forget that. Don't let society convince you otherwise.

This episode was inspired by a recent conversation Alicia and I were having. One of the topics we discussed were the history teachings we received growing up and the daunting fact that our daughter very well may be subjected to the same nonsense. As you know history doesn’t update…even when new information is proven history remains history. Today I want to give you a little reminder of how America became colonized and the inhumane process behind it. But most importantly I want to expound on the obvious that was glossed over. I want to strip the whitewashing and identify it for what it was, I also want to touch on how conveniently people use God as a scapegoat for their foul actions and behavior. Tune in this one is a heavy hitter.
"The more you know of your history the more liberated you are." Maya Angelou
I grew tired of hearing my daughter be taught the same recycled surface level information in school about Black History Month: Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, & Barack Obama. So I took matters into my own hands and added some additional names to the curriculum.
