In this episode, I had the honor of interviewing Sterling Wilder, a dedicated public servant in Lynchburg City, whose commitment to service is truly inspiring.
A Legacy of Service
Sterling's journey is driven by a desire to impact the lives of those around him. Inspired by his father's work in building churches and serving the community, he shifted from a successful career as an internal auditor for the FDIC in Washington, D.C., to founding the Jubilee Center in Lynchburg. This center has initiated various programs aimed at engaging youth and fostering growth.
Sterling recognized a crucial need for youth engagement and started with a youth choir and mentoring programs, fully committing to community service in 1997. His efforts illustrate how one person can create ripples of positive change.
Public Service Journey
Sterling's dedication is evident in his tenure on the school board and his current role on the city council. He stresses the importance of local governance and ensuring community voices are heard. His advocacy for school funding shows his commitment to quality education for future generations.
During our discussion, Sterling highlighted the need for collaboration among council members amid political divisions. His focus is on community welfare rather than partisan agendas, believing that unity is essential for meaningful progress.
Overcoming Challenges
Sterling candidly addressed challenges facing Lynchburg, such as rising crime rates and poverty. He emphasized that these issues require comprehensive solutions, with education and career programs playing crucial roles.
Through the Jubilee Center, Sterling has launched initiatives to empower individuals with necessary skills and resources. He believes education is key to breaking cycles of poverty and creating a brighter future for all.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Sterling has ambitious plans for Lynchburg. He is dedicated to advocating for better education, affordable housing, and increased wages. By partnering with non-profits and leveraging community resources, he aims to tackle pressing issues and enhance living conditions for residents.
Sterling's vision extends beyond immediate concerns; he focuses on building lasting relationships and fostering collaboration that will benefit future generations.
Advice for Aspiring Leaders
Sterling shared valuable advice for aspiring leaders, emphasizing integrity in public service. He encourages young people to engage in local governance. Active participation can lead to meaningful change and help individuals establish their legacies.
Call to Action for Voters
As elections approach, Sterling's message is clear: engage in the voting process. Every vote counts, and informed decisions shape the future of our communities. He urges listeners to research candidates and ensure their choices align with their values.

Introduction:
In a world that constantly evolves, the art of reinvention becomes an essential skill. The ability to adapt, grow, and transform is what sets individuals apart on their journey toward success. Recently, The Art of Reinvention podcast featured an inspiring guest - Travis Thomas, a police officer and community resource officer hailing from Bedford, Virginia. In this thought-provoking episode, Travis shares his remarkable journey of coaching youth sports and creating Hoya, a program focused on helping youth excel in life. Throughout their conversation, self-awareness, having a vision for one’s life, and the importance of discipline emerge as key themes.
The Power of Self-Awareness and Vision:
Travis emphasizes the significance of knowing oneself and embracing self-awareness. Through his own experiences as a police officer and coach, he realized the profound impact that self-discovery can have on personal growth. He encourages individuals to take the time to reflect upon their strengths, weaknesses, passions, and values in order to chart a path toward success. Having a clear vision for one’s life is equally crucial; it serves as a guiding star that keeps individuals motivated amidst challenges.
Discipline: The Bridge to Achievement:
During the podcast discussion, Travis underlines the pivotal role played by discipline in accomplishing goals. Drawing from his background as both an athlete and law enforcement officer, he recognizes that success is not achieved overnight but rather through consistent effort and dedication. Whether it’s honing skills in sports or excelling academically, discipline serves as the bridge between dreams and reality.
Unlocking Potential through Counseling:
Travis places great emphasis on seeking counseling as a means to tap into one’s true potential. Acknowledging that we all possess untapped resources within us waiting to be explored, he believes that professional guidance can provide invaluable support on the path to self-discovery and personal growth. By seeking counseling, individuals can navigate their challenges, unlock hidden talents, and find the courage to pursue their dreams.
The Influence of Doing What is Right:
In a world often driven by trends and popularity, Travis encourages listeners to focus on doing what is right rather than simply following the crowd. Drawing upon his experiences as a police officer, he sheds light on the importance of integrity and making ethical choices. By staying true to our values and taking responsibility for our actions, we have the power to positively influence those around us.
Faith: Navigating Life’s Ups and Downs:
During the podcast conversation, Travis shares his personal journey with faith and how it has helped him embrace life’s ups and downs. Through moments of adversity, he found solace in his spiritual beliefs and discovered resilience within himself. Travis encourages individuals to cultivate faith in something greater than themselves as a means of finding strength during challenging times.
Being Passionate Agents of Change:
Travis concludes by urging individuals to be passionate about their work and become catalysts for change in their communities. Rather than waiting for change to happen, he believes in actively pursuing it. By aligning passion with purpose, individuals can make a lasting impact on society while simultaneously finding fulfillment in their own lives.
Conclusion:
Travis Thomas’s story serves as an inspiration for all those navigating their own journeys of personal growth and transformation. The Art of Reinvention podcast offers valuable insights into the art of self-awareness, having a vision for one’s life, embracing discipline, seeking counseling, doing what is right rather than popular, finding solace through faith, and being passionate agents of change.

Hey there, everyone! It’s TeflonJohn here, and I’m excited to share with you this extraordinary podcast episode. Today, we’re diving deep into the enthralling world of The Wizard of Oz to shed light on an essential life lesson: the significance of self-reliance. Trust me when I say that this analogy is truly mind-blowing!Imagine yourself walking alongside Dorothy and her courageous companions as they navigate the wondrous landscapes of Oz in their quest to return home. Along their journey, they encounter fascinating characters (hello, Scarecrow!) who provide valuable insights and assistance. However, it becomes evident that relying solely on others won’t be enough to reach their goal. No magical wand or flying monkeys will magically transport them back; it is up to each individual to take charge. This powerful message forms the core of our discussion today. When we place excessive reliance on others for our happiness or success, we inadvertently surrender control over our own lives. We give away our power, allowing external factors to steer our destinies. But what if we reclaim that power? What if we recognize that true fulfillment lies within ourselves?I passionately believe that embracing self-reliance is the key to unlocking personal empowerment. By taking ownership of our actions and decisions, we become architects of our own dreams. While relying on others may seem like an easy path initially, it hampers personal growth and stifles our ability to face challenges confidently.Together in this thought-provoking podcast episode, let’s embark on a journey of introspection. Examine your own life and relationships are there areas where you rely too heavily on others? Are you unknowingly giving away your power? These questions hold the key to establishing a solid foundation of self-reliance.The Wizard of Oz, with its timeless charm and captivating narrative, serves as the perfect backdrop for this profound message. It reminds us that we possess innate strength and resilience to overcome obstacles, just like Dorothy and her companions did.So, my friends, let this engaging episode inspire you to reevaluate your own reliance on others. Embrace the adventure towards self-reliance, where your dreams become attainable through your own actions. As we conclude this enchanting tale, always remember that the true wizard lies within yourself, ready to unleash your full potential! You got this!--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-art-of-reinvention/support

Sometimes in life, we take our well-being for granted. We allow procrastination to sabotage our goals and dreams because we think it's always a tomorrow. That may be true but, your tomorrow can look different than your today. So many people die daily in the world. The people who realize tomorrow isn't promised; are the ones that get it. Even if you make it to see tomorrow, there's no telling what your current circumstance will look like weeks from now. You can have a lifestyle change, a new addition to the family, or a change in your health. So stop procrastinating by putting a plan on paper and get to it. Take my advice and DO IT WHILE YOU HAVE TIME!!!

Have you ever been under the influence? Wait...I'm not referring to alcohol. I'm referring to being under the influence of another person. Sometimes were are heavily INFLUENCED by people that slowly change us for the worse. Again I ask. Are you under the influence???
Below are some behavioral changes that someone would undergo that is under the influence of drugs & alcohol. Look at the similarities that a person that is under the influence of another person share with that of someone being influenced by drugs and alcohol.

Change is a popular topic amongst the self-help crowd. Many people seek to change but are often discouraged by the process. But it's in the process where the magic happens. This podcast episode discusses how beneficial changing can be. Please leave a comment or review concerning this podcast.
Nowadays, many people would rather live a life of comfort than to challenge themselves. I believe anyone dead would tell you how much they wish they could go back to change some of the decisions that were made. Don't wait until it's too late to do something. Waiting will only fill your life with regrets. I hope this episode inspires you to get up and get after it. Please share this episode with someone that requires encouragement.
This episode of The Art of Reinvention Podcast Show talks about the importance of focusing on your abilities, not your limitations. Due to self-esteem and other issues, many people find it hard to celebrate their accomplishments because they’re focusing on what hasn’t been done. This mindset will destroy any dream or task because you have the wrong perspective. I hope you enjoy this episode.
This episode of the Mighty Mighty Motivation podcast talks about the importance of sports in our youth. Not the importance of records, scoreboards, and stats but the importance of the principles learned while playing sports. Athletes who learn these principles tend to perform higher in everyday life over people who didn't play sports. As coaches, parents and players its important we make sure these principles are being taught and learned.
Listen as my guest Shaquille Cook inspires the followers of The Art Of Reinvention Show by sharing his story. Shaquille is a young growing entrepreneur who does not allow FEAR to get in the way.
Don't miss the mark because you felt entitled. Remember, no one owes you anything. Most people feel independent but lean on the feeling of someone always being there. You have to prepare yourself for grinding alone. The vision is yours and no one else. So you have to focus on the process and not who's missing during the process. There will come many days where you have to be your NUMBER ONE supporter! I hope you enjoy this episode.
Do you have patience? Patience is needed in order to achieve many things in life. But patience is directly linked to your purpose. You will find it extremely difficult to go through the process of waiting, it what you're waiting for is not worth it. This episode breaks down the importance of committing to the process of waiting. I hope you enjoy. Visit my website for more content https://www.iamteflonjohn.com
There's always a reason or excuse NOT to do what you need to do. We all live busy lives but seem to find time for our 9 to 5's. You'll make a living working hard on your job but you can make a fortune working on yourself. Stop making excuses and enjoy this episode!
Learn to go through situations gracefully because they could be connected to your destiny. Many times in life we often mistake a rough patch as something bad. We need to start looking at these situations as opportunities for growth. Learn to love the process and it will make you great!
This episode is for our youth that is not making smart decisions. I'm so tired of hearing stories of teenagers being buried at such an early age. I hope this episode of the Mighty Motivation Podcast Inspires you to put the guns down.
So many times in life the emotional baggage that we carry can destroy our destiny. It's difficult to receive the blessing when your hands are occupied carrying baggage.

Fight The Stigma
This episode is the second part of the two-part series titled "The Stigma Of Mental Illness". Having or admitting to having a mental issue or disorder has adopted a negative stigma. Listen as my cohost Alexis D. Monae and I take on this topic. Please continue to share this content.
You don't have to pretend to keep up with everyone else in life. Make decisions that make you feel comfortable not decisions that make everyone else happy. Today's youth is faced with some of the same issues I was faced with as a teenager. Peer pressure has evolved with the development of social media and it's high demand among teens. Listen to this episode as I explain the importance of not fitting in. You don't have to pretend!
Mental illness seems to be a hot topic now that there are many celebrities suffering from it. People that openly claim this disorder are often frowned upon in today's society. With many loopholes in today's system sometimes just talking to someone can make a huge difference in someone who is suffering from mental illness. My co-host Alexis D Monae is a mental health professional that is going to help shed light on this hot topic. Please share this episode with your friends and family so we can start the much-needed dialogue on this topic.
This episode takes a serious turn as my guest MarTrey Stevens and I discuss a recent tragedy that has taken our country by surprise. Fifth-grader Raniya Wright was knocked unconscious in the fight at her elementary school. She died in the hospital two days later.
School board members and parents are looking for answers after a fifth-grader died from injuries suffered in a fight at a South Carolina elementary school.
Authorities released a few details about the Monday fight. They say it involved two students and Raniya Wright was knocked unconscious at Forest Hills Elementary School in Walterboro. She died in the hospital two days later.
The Colleton County School District said the other student is also a fifth-grader and has been suspended. The student's name, sex, and age have not been released. No charges have been filed.
The IAmTeflonJohn Brand and Might Motivation would like to send our condolences to the family of Raniya Wright and the other parties involved.
Vocabulary.com defines stereotype as a preconceived notion, especially about a group of people. Stereotypes are often talked about when referring to someone’s race, religion, or even their sex. This can also be a controversial topic that sparks hatred across the world. The roots of stereotypes can sometimes be ignorance or unforgiveness. My special guest Willie Sanders, motivational speaker of Jacksonville Florida came along to help me tackle this topic. Listen as we breakdown the many sides of stereotypes.
What Do You Value?
Having good values can take you far in life. We often have time and make sacrifices for the things we value. But the problem usually starts when our ACTIONS do not fall in line with our VALUES. This is a very important topic to think about. Having good values can give you the discipline you need to achieve your goals. Sometimes you will have to change your mindset or support system in order to see the benefit of setting good values. I hope this episode starts you on the path of thinking about your current values.
It is extremely easy to come up with an idea. But very difficult to develop a strategy that turns that idea into a movement or business. You have to check your motives at the door and make sure the idea is purpose driven not income driven.

She wants to answer the question, "What do I do after graduation?".
We all make mistakes in our early years and continue to pay for them longer than we should. But with just a little bit more information on how to purchase a car or a home you can be better equipped to enforce your financial rights. It's all about getting the information. Charese is most passionate about passing along information that can better and potentially change people's lives. The turning point in your life will be going beyond the monetary value of money and seeing it for what it truly is, a tool to help you live your best life.

The Power Of Forgiveness
Forgiveness is one of the most controversial and discussed topics in our generation. Whether it’s forgiving someone for murdering a loved one or a family member who has done you wrong. We must learn to forgive all people for everything. God has forgiven us and paid the ultimate debt to set us free. But yet we still find ourselves bound to people by not releasing forgiveness. Forgiving someone will ultimately free you and allow life to be lived to its full potential. Listen as my guest Nicole Bonds and I break down why Forgiveness is so important.

It was a pleasure to have special guest and author Hezekiah Morris on the IAmTeflonJohn Podcast Show. This show focuses on the importance of getting started. Many times we out think ourselves from starting something. When all we have to do is start by making small accomplishments. Hezekiah uses his past and story of how he went from incarceration to becoming an author and motivational speaker.
You must use the frustrations of life as fuel to motivate you. I understand that things and situations may not always go your way. But you must change the way you view your problems. You will never make it if you always allow a difficult time in your life to over take you with negative thoughts. Learn to sit back and see what your current situation can bring out of you. Stay focused and use all that you go through to work in your favor.
No one knows how much time they have on this Earth. But many choose to live life like they have 1000 years to live. We all take time for granted in some way or another. I want to use this podcast episode to provoke thought. You should be thinking about what if it all ended today. Enjoy this episode!
Doubt is the cancer that kills all dreams. Why? Because once you begin to question yourself. You will begin to experience a downward spiral of hesitation. And hesitation only slows down and eventually stops progress. It will also cause you to question WHY you are going after your goals and dreams because you begin to think too much. You must commit to a course of actions and have the belief that you will make it or that everything is going to work out.
What do you do when nothing seems to be going right for you? The answer is simple. You keep pushing and grinding consistently knowing that you will reach your destination. Life is guaranteed to throw challenges your way. These challenges are not meant to break you. They are only intended to build your character and help you to become the person you were meant to be.
It is very important to realize that change can be a very positive element when it comes to being successful. Reinventing yourself can be the difference between stagnation and elevation. Enjoy!
It is that time again to think about your goals and visions for next year. Listen as I give you tips on how to accomplish your goals and map out a plan to support it. I also break down the importance of having the correct "Reason" or "Why" you are going after your goals. I hope you enjoy! Please share. www.iamteflonjohn.com
