Recycling noise since 2001. circuitbenders.co.uk was the first (as far as we know) website in the UK offering circuitbent machines for sale alongside dozens of mods for electronic toys, drum machines, synths and samplers. Our machines are featured on music from artists as diverse as The Chemical Brothers and REM, along with hundreds of producers worldwide.

A brief burst of no input self generated noise from one of our Hate Echo reclocked delay pedals.
LTC1799 based system reclocking mod on an Alesis Microverb II. The mod adds a knob that controls the processing speed of the DSP, allowing you to adjust reverbs from short twangs to huge walls of gritty glacial noise.
As with many processors from this era, the reclocking knob does add a certain amount of high pitched whine at lower clock speeds, but this is not so noticable when the knob is moving, and can be effectively EQ'd out if the clock speed is stationary. The whine disappears around halfway round the dial.
We've made no attempt to remove the whine on this demo.

Demo of a circuit bent Peravey Deltafex multi FX rack. Mods include a RAM looping switch and 4 x loop chopping switches. All demo sounds are created by grabbing a loop of input sound with the loop switch, and then processing it with the parameter knobs and the loop chopper switches. Unlike with many FX units, on the Deltafex the parameter knobs still have some effect when the RAM contents is forcibly looped

Demo of some sounds and loops created with a modded Phonic Verbifex multi FX unit. Mods consist of a LTC1799 based reclocking knob and a light up RAM looping push button.
The RAM looper grabs whatever happens to be in the units sample RAM at the time, and loops it around until the button is pressed again. This unit has preset settings with muliple effects i.e. Delay/Reverb as one preset, but mysteriously on these settings the RAM loop seems to play back the RAM contents for each effect in succession, so you get an odd sequence of whatever the delay is doing, then a slice of reverb, and then the delay again in an endless loop until you release it.

Modified Zoom 1204 multo FX rack with LTC1799 based system reclocking knob. Demo of various Zoom 1202 circuit bent effects, applied to a selection of acid lines. Effects include reverb, chorus, delay, pitch shifting, reclocking, RAM decimation and delay freeze.
A demo of a zoom 1202 effects unit with reclocking knob and RAM decimation switch matrix. Certain switch combinations cause the circuit bent delay effects to be frozen and looped. This demo shows the effect on individual drum sounds and then on a simple drum pattern.
Demo of reverb effects from a reclocked Zoom 1202. As the clock speed of the system is slowed down the reverbs become more and more granular, until early reflections turn into creaking washes of noise and tails decay into a huge sea of sound.
Against all the odds, a rare but plucky Casio PT280 sampling keyboard struggles valiantly all the way through a doomed demo rendition of When the Saints Go Marching In.

An ART Proverb 200 effects unit with the addition of a system reclocking knob. Slowing down the system extends reverbs into massive washes of sound, delays become bit crushed alien noise and flanging turns into a wall of slowing undulating twang. You can actually use this unit purely as a kind of bit crusher, as slowing down the clock rate also seems reduce the bit rate of the audio processing. A demo of the circuitbenders CB55 : a Boss DR55 voice board clone. The board has all four analogue sounds plus accent. On this demo the voices are triggered by a Yamaha RM1X, via a midi to trigger interface. This is the basic board with no mods. The controls are accent amount, tone, and volume. You may hear some minor background hum/noise at some points on the demo. This is due to the idiot recording the demos cleverly touching the tone and accent pot pins with their fingers while adjusting them. Rest assured that they have been severely.punished ;-)
