Jesus’ entire life demonstrated the various ways to let our light shine. Being the light of the world means humbling ourselves in order to love and serve those closest to us. In Matthew 2:1-11, we see the story of the wise men and how their live's trajectory ultimately changed as they followed the light that led them to Jesus. This Sunday, Pastor Ben spoke on Hebrews chapter 4, verses 9-13. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

This Sunday, our guest speaker Pastor Gregg Johnson spoke on verses Psalm 127:3-5 and 2 Kings 11:1-3, with a key theme of empowering the next generation. With a ministry called J12 "Jesus At Twelve", Pastor Gregg believes in dedicating and pouring out our time and hearts towards discipling pre-teens. There is truly no age limit in advancing the kingdom of God, each of us has a call placed over our lives; and as a church family, we look after our brothers and sisters in all stages of life.

This Empower Sunday, Travis Holowina, Executive Director of the Resurgence Initiatives, preached on Luke chapter 5, verses 17-26. Picking up our mats is a daily decision that involves obedience and faith. Jesus has given us the authority to go out into the world proclaiming His name, and working under His governance. We are able to do supernatural things through Him. Our role is to simply grab the corner of the mat, and if every single one of us would just grab a corner, everything changes; lives transformed, the sick healed, the broken made whole, and ultimately, hearts surrendered to Christ.

This Thanksgiving Sunday, Pastor Ben shared with us what audacious faith looks like as we looked at the passage of Luke chapter 17 verses 11-19. Moving in step with Jesus allows us to see that by faith all things are possible; as we see prayers get answered, the impossible made possible and lives continuously transformed, may we be like this Samaritan whose first response is to express his utmost gratitude to the Father. May our thanks always be lifted high to our Master who hears us and sees us. Let us be the one who worships with hearts full of thanksgiving.

This Sunday, Our guest speaker, Pastor Dino Skariah, shared with us through the passage of John 12 verses 1-8, what living a life of pure worship looks like. Mary knew who Jesus was; the King of Kings, the Lord of lords, the Prince of Peace. He deserves nothing less than all of our worship, all of our praise, and all of our adoration. May we be like Mary, worshiping at Jesus' feet, pouring out our most expensive perfumes.

This Sunday, Pastor Ben shared what it means to look to the Lord's table. In 1 Corinthians 11, the Apostle Paul spoke on the manner in which we are to approach the Lord's table; with reverence and gratitude -- May we always be reminded of the sacrifice Christ made on the cross to save us from sin and condemnation, and instead be lavished upon with His grace and great love for us. Because of this sacrifice we can look ahead with hope and courage knowing that one day the kingdom of God will come in fullness. We do it in remembrance of Him.

Hunter & Mandi Gillis share a message on the importance of God's provision and our trust in Him to provide. When the world says that we don’t need God’s guidance instead we only need to lean on ourselves, we have to stop and be transformed by God’s word that says He will provide, He is our place of safety, apart from Him we cannot do nothing. God's provision for us is eternal and we need to be reminded to not store up anything under our “cloak”. We are encouraged by the reminder to come back to a place of trust because He provides and He’ll always provide!

We can find all of ourselves in the book of Psalms. Over 1/3 of the Psalms are categorized as lament. The Psalms are offering us a window into how humans have expressed praise through every season. Seasons of rejoicing and seasons of mourning. Pastor Cody teaches from Psalms 88: A Psalm Of Protest. He encourages us that protest and lament are the deepest form of praise. For the only criteria for praise, is that we come to God honestly.

Today we heard a powerful message from Cody Matchett about how the Apostle Paul, in scripture, writes to the Colossians correcting any corruption and distortions they have taken on as truth. They have been enslaved by empty philosophies and human-funded traditions driven by dark spiritual forces. They were under immense pressure to disassociate with their faith and accommodate to the cultural norms. They were surrounded by false prophets, heretics, and idols, all seeking worship. Unfortunately, the times in Colosse are not so different than this cultural moment in Calgary of 2022. We can so often be taken captive by politics, fame, social media, justice-seeking, economic status, etc. So, how do we combat this? Paul & Cody encourage us to remain rooted with deep biblical practices, be built up by making careful choices, and become publicly established in Jesus Christ so the world can see and know the life-transforming message of the gospel! And, above all this - live a life of gratitude and abound in thanksgiving.

These past two years have been a very divisive time for our world, our nation, and the greater Church. Politics, pandemics and opinions are often causes for such division, but ultimately the greatest cause of division is the sin of humanity. Thankfully, we no longer have to live and die in our sin. In this week’s message Pastor Ben talks about how we have been reconciled with God through the good news of the Gospel. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice and atonement for our sins. We can now live holy, blameless and above reproach because of Jesus!

Unfortunately, we too are human, and much like the Israelites of days past we often forget the amazing, life-transforming goodness of God and saving grace of Jesus. Pastor Cody teaches us today the importance of “Saturation Education;” Reciting, Binding, Fixing and Writing scripture and stories that remind us every single day of who we are as children of our Heavenly Father! Much like Abraham in the Bible, God will often call us to great things that stretch and challenge us, but He still gives us the freedom to choose if we will obey or disobey what He’s calling us too. The beautiful thing about our gracious Father is that He never leaves us to conquer the challenge on our own. When we step into what God is calling us to, we can ALWAYS know that He will walk with us and provide all we need for the journey. His provision may not be obvious to us in the moment, but it is always on the way. He will never leave or forsake us - and that is a promise!
