How do you measure it's worth? Is by what it's made of? God made sure to keep Israel humble by building His place of worship out of all the riches they received from their previous masters.
The interesting thing about God picking out furniture for His house is that each and everyone has a purpose. Why did God set it up this way? Why so much detail? Here's a hint, it all points to Jesus.
If God is super specific about a set of blueprints for His tent maybe we should perk up and try and find out why. God always has a reason for His commands and it's our job to glean the most from it.
The saddest part about being in a rough situation is that often we don't see the beauty or purpose of it later on. Every scar, hard lesson or life altering experience we have God can "work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to His purpose."
Use the difficulty!
The strangest thing that will ever happen to those who truly love the Lord is the farther we escape the darkness of sin and run into His light the easier it is to see the darkness that still remains in our heart. The bigger question is are you running to the light or muting it?
God once again has had His fill with humanity and it's pride filled nature. But once again a way out from the well deserved destruction was provided.
Could Israel get any lower? They had just made a covenant with their creator and in a few short days break said promise. Well, I think this whole episode could be summed up in one phrase, "Israel was almost as good a sinner as we are."
The Sabbath topic may be one of the more hotly debated topics in scripture we can all agree that Jesus is the "Lord of the Sabbath".
Continuing in the tabernacle blueprints we find that God was even particular about the way they made the incense. Although it was made up of unclean animal parts. That would be a great talking point.
Each offering had a significant meaning to the Lord and to add to that point we must also keep in mind Moses was given these blueprints from God's tabernacle in Heaven.
God didn't just give Israel health laws he also helped introduce them to hygiene through under garments. These ceremonies and sacrifices were not only supposed to be conducted in a certain way but also with the correct clothing.
If there is anything that we can learn about God from what has happened to Israel so far is that He is quite particular and organized. Some of us may look at what He's asking His people to do and not fully understand what His plans are, but I assure you, God does NOTHING without purpose.
This glorified box that God had Israel build was meant to hold His character, yup you heard it right, God's own character was placed inside. The Testimony was God's way to reach a fallen humanity that didn't know any better.
Yes, God's law or commandments more than likely were blue. God invited the elders of Israel to meet Him and have a meal. Yeah, I know I didn't know that was in scripture until we went through this ourselves.
Ten Commandments Series
God continues His explanation of the law He gave Moses because humans are more prone to find those little cracks, we can slip through, so we can do what WE want to do.

Don't follow your heart, follow Jesus instead.
Like a father speaking to their child who is trying to find a loophole in the command they are receiving, God clarifies again the commandments He just gave. Even in the Old Testament God is the same person with the same character as Jesus in the New Testament.

You'd think God thought of everything, with the way that some of these laws are written. The children of Israel just left slavery and oppression, so God and Moses wanted to ensure that Israel wouldn't follow in the footsteps of their old masters now that they are free.
How do I love everyone else? Well let's dive deep into the second half of the Ten Commandments and discover God's best explanation on how to do so. Keeping the Ten Commandments is not about salvation it's about showing your love for the One who saved you.
If one were to ask, how to love God, how would you answer it? It's strange to think that God loves us and wants our love in return, but to show love to the creator of everything may be easier than we think. God isn't looking for you to "give" something to Him to prove your devotion, instead He is just asking for your heart then everything else will fall in place.
God Himself is an all-consuming fire although this fire only consumes one thing . . . sin. It's not that God cannot stand to be in the presence of sin, it's sin that cannot stand in the presence of God, that is why God is holding off coming to this world as long as He can to save as many as he can. With Israel this was no different, God put in place boundaries because He wanted to protect them, just like us today.

God will use even your IN-LAWS to guide you. Now we know some in-laws are difficult, but Moses had a great father-in-law. Moses was becoming burnt out and couldn't even see it because he just wanted to do God's will. We all need to know our own limits but more than knowing them we need to know when to stop, even if it's something good. Our own Mike in the Chili Crew will tell you he had to be told his limits because it was affecting his own family.

I find it strange when God has to place the ones who love Him in a situation that forces them to look to Him alone. Has God ever had to do that very thing to you? Sometimes that flat tire on the highway was not God's way of punishing you, maybe it was His way of saving you.
This first moment of adversity placed Israel in a tough situation, on one hand they were never in want for food yet on the other hand God has gifted them with freedom and much more. Two reactions are placed before them, trust or fear. How do you react in bad situations? Do you reach out to the only One who has promised to "never leave or forsake you"? Or do we allow the "instinct" of self-preservation to kick in? We are face with the same choice that Israel was face with every day in the wilderness, trust or fear.

If there was one celebration the people of God never forgot, it was the Passover. This was meant to be a time of reflection upon God and His deliverance. Although not just deliverance from physical slavery but spiritual from sin.
If God is leading you out of somewhere, He's got a plan to lead you into something better.
The judgement has come . . . for Egypt . . . in Exodus.

This is one of the bigger turning points in Israel's history because not only is this the final plague of Egypt and they are about to leave slavery but God has made a very distinct point about salvation, it's for everyone who chooses the Way of Christ.
One of the most powerful god in Egyptian mythology was Ra. We say was because the Creator God (Yahweh) was able to stop the entire sun (Ra) from coming out for three days . . . Game-Set-Match . . . Mic Drop . . . Match Point. But the Pharaoh thinking himself a god was still unwilling to bow the knee to One who created even him.

Round three . . . GO! God continues to try to reach out to a pagan nation and most have still chosen to reject the God of Heaven. So now He is going to show them that He is also God over their crops and healing. Remember at any time they could leave their old life and move into Goshen and be free.

It has begun! The standoff between a mere man who thinks himself as a god and the Creator God. Though God does have the upper hand He is always trying to reach the lost and in this case He doesn't JUST have His eye on Israel but also a pagan nation.

Although Moses feels that he may be failing God, little does he realize that God has a much bigger plan in place. Even though God has told Moses EXACTLY what will happen Moses still, to some degree, can't see past the situation at hand.

Moses now has now been given his orders and he doesn't seem to confident in his ability to do what God is asking. The great "I AM" is the name that was given to Moses on who sent him; this name has more significance as we continue through the story of the Exodus.

It's strange how God works to save someone or in this case many someones. Moses childhood was obviously complicated yet God was still able to humble him to the point the he could be used as a great catalyst for God's love.

Jacob (Israel) has died and passed on the name God gave him several chapters ago. What's next for the, now, nation of Israel? How is God going to keep up His end of the Covenants He made with Abraham and his children? Fifty chapters and many episodes later we have finally reached the end of Genesis. Ha! Once again God kept his promises to the family of Abraham and all his descendants. Israel hasn't seen his son in years and now he and his entire family are leaving the land that was promised to them in order to be saved. Jesus often askes us to do what is best for us yet at the time it may not seem so.

Joseph was so excited not only that he might see his father again but that through the entire ordeal God was able to make changes in the hearts of his brothers. Pharaoh even wishes to celebrate with his most trusted advisor.
The purpose for what the Lord allowed to happen in Joseph's life finally comes to a head. Like so many times in our own lives God has a plan and all he needs us to do is not get in the way and obey what He says. This first part is where Joe reveals himself to his morally altered brothers.
Once more Joseph's brothers face him on bended knee but this time they brought someone new, his baby brother. Yet once again he conducts himself with a loving character toward his betrayers yet his heart breaks seeing his younger brother he hasn't seen in years. Knowing what's right always seems so easy on paper but when we're faced with the doing, what will we choose?

It's finally happened, Joseph's past has found him and the prophetic dreams he had when he was a young man have come to fruition. Although he does something fairly unexpected when interacting with his brothers for the first time in several years.

Even when we are in the most troubling times of our lives, do we give God the glory and press forward sharing the truth of Jesus? Joe does exactly that, he was sold into slavery, unjustly accused and sent to prison, yet through all this he stands firmly with the Lord.

Once again we see that God set in motion something that man could have NEVER predicted. Jesus' family line is filled with sin and deception. Before Joseph becomes Vice Pharaoh but after he was sold something important happens.
Young he may have been but God was still able to use him because he had an open heart to hear what God had to say. He was rejected by most of hid own family but as we will see later Joe saved the world.

Jacob (Israel) tries to begin again with a renewing of promises to God. But as we will soon see things do not entirely turn out the way they were planed.
Two wrongs don't make a right. This story embodies the very essence of this phrase. How often do we feel we MUST get back at someone for the wrong done and in the end discover that revenge is a double edged sword?
"Hurt me because I deserve it," has thought ever crossed your mind when asking for forgiveness? Today Jacob finally faces his greatest "failure", his betrayal of his own twin brother.
What would cause someone to think they could wrestling with Christ, the creator of this world, and win? Today we talk about one of the most intergang sections of the Bible. Jacob had to finally face his greatest fear, Esau, but instead met someone he did not expect.
Finally Jacob has an opportunity to speak his mind to someone who has repeated cheated him. When we're faced with moments to "clear the air" with someone keep in mind when we are in God's will He can end the "confrontation" on a high note.
Do the moments in life we feel cheated justify our actions to correct it? Let us take a look at what happened to a family that did just that, steeling from their father to right the wrong he did to his daughters.
Even when we make plans in our lives and they don't quite pan out God will always be with us. We find this out from Jacobs first wife who happened to be UnLoved and Blessed. God will find a way for His will to be accomplished in your life if you let Him.
Okay, so lets face it from time to time we are cheated. I would make a guess that no one was cheated quite like Jacob was. This story is just the beginning of Jacobs tale of woe.
When God speaks we need to listen, even if it's in a dream that's little bit on the "awesome" side. Jacob the father of many starts out on his journey to his new life and even though he's just betrayed his father and brother God was still able to use him.
Who know that one decision to trick someone you love would lead to so much trouble in the end? Let us finish the story of how Jacob stole his brother's birthright.
One deal is all it took to change the direction of two entire nations and all over a bowl of lentils. Like a splash in a pool of water the choices we make to get what we want has ramifications beyond anything we will know.
Toward the end of Abraham's life the torch of the promise that God gave him to "bless the whole world" needed to be passed on to Isaac.
Genesis 22:8 "And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together." KJV In one short verse so much is said about the coming savior.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a place we didn't expect, life took a sharp turn for the worst, that is what happened to Abraham's second wife. Abraham also finds himself confronted once again by the leader of a pagan nation and must choose how to handle it.
Abraham once again finds himself caught in a "lie". Often in our own minds we try to justify sin, for one reason or another. Lets talk about how Abraham twice lied about his wife and a, seemingly pagan king called him out.
"Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement than for that city!" -Jesus
Jesus tells us to learn from the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah, not for the sake of fear but of the sake of the love we have in Christ.
Sodom and Gamora is one of the most familiar stories in the Bible. Even if you are not familiar with it, this story will make you rethink what we think about God's judgement but also God's grace.

There was one who cared . . . Abram. Why did God allow this man to negotiate for a sin filled city? This man invested his life to reach everyone he lived with the Most High God even until the very end. Not only was his nephew at stake but several cities filled with people who, just a few verses before, he helped save from a raid on the cities.
Hospitality is a word not often used today even though we'd all like to think that we are hospitable. Abram takes this to a whole new level when he gets the opportunity to speak with Christ (Christophany). Why don't we hold this high a level of kindness today?
Alright, when we think of promises the normal response is not "well, I'll go get my sharp knife". We'll find out that the Lord had other plans in mind when trying to remind Abram of the promises God made to him.
First God calls Abram out of his land then God promises he will be the father of an entire nation. Although Abram didn't have a child to be a father of anyone. Every time we bring about God's will by means he NEVER intended always ends badly.

Neil was a wonderful addition to the Chili Crew because he truly has a passion for reaching other people through the testimony of others. When people deliver their testimony it's delivering the gospel through someone. What is honor?
