They are founding members of Women Against Pit Closures, a movement that brought feminism into Working Class industrial disputes, fighting for & feeding mining families during the 1984 miners strike and beyond.

This week we're talking to Sara and Chitra about the Indian Farmers' Strike. In this episode, we covered the reasons why and how the farmers are striking, the significance of anti-capitalism to their struggle, and how strikers are being organised on the ground. We also discussed the work of women farmers and organisers involved in the strike and Chitra shared firsthand experiences of the Delhi strike. Sara is an African-American woman and activist in the Women of Colour Global Women's Strike. They organise from the bottom up to demand wages for unwaged caring work, against environmental racism, and in solidarity with Dalit and indigenous women.
Chitra is an artist and community worker, born in India and brought up in the UK. She has been based in Delhi since 2020 and recently set up a learning centre for children within an economically deprived neighbourhood.
