NPS Peas in a Podcast features our 5th and 6th grade classroom at Newington Public School. It's the definition of a student-led podcast as the writers, directors, hosts, voices, and editors are all age 12 and under. Tune in to see what our amazing class is up to.
In our last episode of the school year, we take you with us on field trips to Fenway Park to meet a real NASA astronaut and to UNH Manchester where we extracted DNA and looked at our bacteria under the microscope. We've learned a ton with our senior scientist partners from Team Cooke NoMADS. In this episode, we share more about that experience. We also profile two more science partners, talk about how to grow bacteria, and walk you through some of the amazing experiments we've done this year. Oh, and prepare to have your mind blown with some more space fun facts.
In episode 2, we introduce you to some of our UNH Manchester partners. As we learned in episode 1, they organized a contest to send soil sample to space, and we won! After we found out that we won the contest, each student partnered up with a student from UNH Manchester. We did some experiments about bacteria with them and got to know each other as our space soil journey got started. We are sending a sample of soil from our town to space! In our first episode of season 4 we share the start of our journey. It's a story about how we entered a statewide contest to have the chance to send a soil sample to space. Spoiler alert: We won! We spent some time this fall learning about ecosystems and how they function.
