With the NHL season officially over after Tampa Bay hoisted the Stanley Cup besting the Montreal Canadiens in five games, Ken and Trevor move on to one of their favorite times of the year NHL off season! This year is especially fun as there is the expansion draft with the Seattle Kraken joining the league followed by the entry draft and free agency. Ken and Trevor discuss what they think the needs of both the Canucks and Flames are in free agency and what options they have in protecting players for expansion. Ken also drops a bomb of a scenario on Trevor that he hadn't thought of before that makes complete sense for the Flames but may be unpopular with some in the fan base.
On this week's show Ken and Trevor dive in to the City of Las Vegas as they seem to be taking over the #1 spot of sports cities in North America. The guys look at how the NHL has done, what will the Raiders experience be and what leagues and possible teams could be in the desert next. The Blue Jays are sending four players to the All Star game in Colorado and Trevor and Ken give their thoughts on this and how they got there.
On this weeks #RUKiddingMe Ken and Trevor discuss the NHL's recent hiring of Tik Tok star Josh Richards to grow the league's youth audience and how we feel about that. The guys also are left scratching their heads a little over Ryan Nugent-Hopkins new 8 year $41 Million dollar contract. On the second edition of #RUKiddingMe Ken and Trevor look at a couple hot button topics from the world of sports. This week they continue the discussion started on the sticky substance use in MLB and how it has been going over the first two days? are both sides being adult about it...of course not that why the guys get to talk about it! They also give their thoughts on the report out of San Jose that there is growing friction between Evander Kane and his teammates...you don't say! Based on his past neither Ken or Trevor are really surprised.
On this episode Ken and Trevor discuss Tyler Glasnow's comments that stopping cold turkey for using a sticky substance caused his injury and landed in on the IL. They talk about the long line of cheating and turning a blind eye MLB has done in the past and their crack down after it becomes too obvious. In this weeks episode we discuss the Calgary Flames hiring of Darryl Sutter as head coach after being away from the team for 11 years. We look at how Sutter's coaching style could help turn the Flames around and possibly help move them to be in the playoff picture not on the outside looking in. We also discuss the fallout of the news that the CFL and XFL have held talks and will continue to do so to help potentially come to a partnership of some sort. This news has had CFL purists calling foul on the talks and saying no to a merger and 4 down football...none of which has even been said by either league. In That's Offside we call offside on the lack there of player safety in the NHL as the league has handed down to suspensions on the short side for nasty hits to the head by Washington Capital Tom Wilson and Nashville Predator Dante Fabbro. We also call offside on Alex Ovechkin's defense of Wilson's hit as not a penalty.
In Are you Kidding Me we scratch our heads over Evander Kane and the San Jose Sharks possibly terminating his contract to avoid paying of his debts. Jordan Binnington's 6 year $36 million dollar extension with the St Louis Blues has us saying Are You Kidding me? Along with the Michigan State Spartans new name for their basketball program and Corey Perry of the Montreal Canadiens having more goals than 2 Buffalo Sabre superstars combined.
