For the life/royal show of the week, Morgan recaps William's solo appearance at the BAFTAs. She begins by correctly pointing out that William is much better when accompanied by Kate, who couldn't attend due to her recovery.
However, as a long time patron of BAFTA, William was very disappointing. He admitted to not doing much research like seeing the movies or knowing much about them even though he was there for the award show.
It all culminated when he told actress Mia McKenna-Bruce who won an award for the film How to Have Sex, a film which includes with her character being raped, "'I haven't yet watched your film - I think it looked like you had a lot of fun all the way through." Morgan details just how awkward and unfortunate that quote was and how it doesn't seem like a big ask to ask him to at least review the summaries of movies before attending.
Laura ends the show with a rant.

To cap off a week of bad stories, for our life/royals episode Morgan discusses the sad news that Charles has cancer. She goes into what we know and don't know, Harry's visit with Charles, and all the speculation surrounding the news.
She and Laura discuss what this means for the family that doesn't have a large younger generation to rely on and other implications of this news.
After a week off, Morgan and Laura are returning with some very heavy topics this week. First up, their sports topic. TRIGGER WARNING: SEXUAL ASSAULT
On Monday, London, Ontario police held a press conference after laying sexual assault charges against 5 members of the 2018 Canadian World Junior hockey team in connection with an assault that took place during the weekend of a gala honoring the team. 4 current NHL players and 1 former player are charged with crimes.
Laura goes over the timeline of the case and the myriad of ways the victim (known as E.M.) was failed. This includes the London Police initially closing the case and not opening it up until years later, Hockey Canada trying to brush everything under the rug, and of course the alleged traumatizing sexual assault.
This is just the beginning as Canadian legal experts say that the backlog of cases means this likely won't go to trial until 2026 so you can be sure we will cover updates when they happen.

Laura ends the show with rant and rave.

Laura ends the show with rant and rave.
On this episode, Laura covers two more sports media stories. First, she covers how ESPN had a decades-long scheme to get on-air talent Emmys they weren't eligible for using fake names. Morgan and Laura discuss how stupid the motives seem for ESPN and discuss the nuances of the story.
Then, Laura discusses the Cutter Gauthier trade and the media coverage that came with it. Specifically she discussed a baseless rumor spread by a Flyers-affiliated podcast that made former Flyer Kevin Hayes look bad and resulted in death threats and other vile remarks directed at him. She also discussed the Flyers subsequently coming out and denying that story and Flyers head coach John Tortorella going after the podcaster who said those things and defending Kevin Hayes.
Morgan ends the show with rant and rave.
On this episode, Laura discusses 4 royal stories she's excited for in 2024. In the final episode of 2023, Morgan wraps up the Top 3 in 2023 episodes by covering the top 3 life (well really, royal) stories of 2023.
She starts by discussing the biggest tiara moment of the year, the reemergence of the Strathmore Rose tiara after 90+ years in the vault. She revisited Kate's stunning appearance in the diadem. Finally, Morgan and Laura discuss the coronation of King Charles. The discuss some of the great moments as well as some of their disappointments and missed opportunities for the event.

We'll see you all in 2024!
For their last episodes of the year, Morgan and Laura are discussing their top sports and life moments of the year. First up, Laura presented her top 3 sports moments of the year.

She then covered two very catastrophic injuries: Damar Hamlin in the NHL and Adam Johnson in hockey. She finished her top 3 stories by discussing Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship and how that dominated the 2023-24 NFL season so far.
Morgan ended the show with a rave, and Laura supplied the rant.
On this episode, Laura very quickly recaps the British Diplomatic reception in which Kate wore an entire look she's worn before. Then, she discusses the Nobel Prize Ceremony where Victoria wore an entire look she's worn before. There was a lot of tiara déjà vu this week.
Sofia did spice things up by wearing a new gown handcrafted for this event and a whole lotta Swarovski crystals, but Laura and Morgan aren't sure it worked. Laura also gives predictions and dreams for the second Nobel event that has since already happened but hadn't at the time of recording.
Morgan ends the show by ranting about William and Kate's family Christmas card and using her photography knowledge to analyze it.
The most highly anticipated MLB free agent signing in a long time, dynamite pitcher and hitter Shohei Ohtani decided he did not want to have to hire a moving company and pack up his things. He decided to stay in LA but not by reupping his contract with the Angels. The Japanese phenom decided to move to NL powerhouse the LA Dodgers.
Our resident baseball expert Morgan gave us all the deets of how this signing came to be, the staggering details of the contract, and all the rumors that swirled about Ohtani going to Toronto. It was a whirlwind of social media craziness so there was much to discuss.
Laura ends the show with a rant and rave.

Morgan ends the show with a rave (the whole episode has our rant covered).
In this episode, Laura delves into the recent South Korean state visit to the UK, covering the grand arrival ceremony and the fashion highlight: Kate's stunning and unexpected red cape ensemble. The real buzz, however, revolved around the state dinner and the mesmerizing tiara moments. Morgan and Laura praise Camilla's elegant gown choice, perfectly complemented by her captivating debut of the Burmese Ruby Tiara (spoiler: Morgan and Laura think Camilla wore it better than the late Queen Elizabeth did). The conversation then shifts to Kate's jaw-dropping surprise appearance in the Strathmore Rose tiara after its 90-year hiatus. It an undoubtedly iconic moment, and Laura and Morgan have a lot to say. They further dissect the attire of other attendees before Morgan wraps up the episode with rant and rave.
Morgan discusses three of the big recent headlines with the NHL recently. Her first two stories are best summarized by our episode title "best sport, worst league". She first discusses the NHL trying to stop Minnesota goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury honoring his wife's Native heritage and wearing a mask designed by a Native artist and auctioning that mask off for charity. Next, she discusses NHL Player Safety's horrible decision to only fine Rangers captain Jacob Trouba for swinging his stick at a player's head. Finally, she discusses the conflicting reports from Corey Perry's agent and the Chicago Blackhawks about the reason for Corey's absence and whether it was a team or player decision. Laura ends the show with a rant and rave.
On the Friday episode, aka our "Life" episode Morgan goes in on a movie near and dear to the hearts of many millennials The Princess Diaries. Morgan highlights all the inspiration the movie took from royals around the world and how cool it was to see all the royal families represented by the movie. Morgan also highlights the inaccuracies and some of the ways the movie doesn't correctly portray royalty. You'll never watch the movie the same way!
Laura closes the show with royal themed rants and raves.
In this episode, Laura takes her turn diving into a sports topic. This week, the focus is on the legalization of sports betting in the US. She discusses the court cases that led to it, the various leagues' rules around players and gambling, and other implications of the popularity and availability of betting.
Morgan closes the show with a rant and rave.
In episode 51 and the first "life" episode in the new format, Laura presents a topic on one of her and Morgan's passions, royals. However, it's a royal family the wider public may not know a lot about, the Danish Royal Family.
After giving background on all the key players, Laura details two recent scandals in the past two years that alone are worthy of a Danish version of The Crown.
Family fighting! Cheating rumors (with photographic evidence)! It's truly worthy of a good TV series, and Laura has all the details for you.
The show ends with a rave about Bing's AI image creator and its ability to make fantasy tiaras and a rant about Twitter's suggested royal trends being toxic AF.

On this not so quick hitter, Morgan and Laura welcome their first ever guest. Their good friend Alex joins the show to break down the major interview Harry and Meghan gave to Oprah. It was especially interesting to hear Alex's analysis of the racism Meghan has faced from the royal family, media, and society at large. Alex has a great Instagram dedicated to Meghan that discusses these important issues but also many fun and cute things. Be sure to give her a follow @duchessmmgrace.

She finishes the hockey segment by discussing the PR piece disguised as journalism written by Larry Brooks about everyone's favorite racist Tony Deangelo. Morgan and Laura also highlight NHL writers calling out the PHWA for highlighting and endorsing the piece.
Rants this week are both political in nature. They discuss the impeachment as well as the TJ Ducklo situation.
They end on a happy note though and use their raves to gush about the news that Harry and Meghan are expecting their second child and the gorgeous photo they used to announce it.
Morgan was up first with some MLB updates which seems to always include some garbage men doing garbage things. She also discussed Drew Robinson bravely sharing his story (TW: suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts). Finally, she remembered the late Pedro Gomez.
For hockey, Laura started with some news around hockey before Climbing the Corporate Ladder. Highlights of that segment include: an explanation of the Buffalo situation, recap of the insane goal that shouldn't have been in the Columbus-Carolina game, Rick Bowness handling the Khudobin situation like it's 4th grade playground drama, and Jamie Oleksiak with an epic quote.
Rant and rave theoretically end the show but because of the title there was a breaking MLB update and a hockey discussion that happened too.
On this episode, Morgan and Laura talk about no players being selected for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Morgan then reviews the Arenado trade (the official podcast stance on this trade is: puke) and the current status of the 2021 season.
Laura then provides an update on the Isobel Cup. Then we Climb the Corporate Ladder to discuss the various goings-on in the NHL. Highlights include the GM situation in Pittsburgh and discussing the recent play of the Dallas Stars. But most of the time is spent on noted horrible human Tony Deangelo getting waived. Rant and rave (or waive) end the episode.

Next, Laura covers hockey. Reminder that the NWHL has games on Twitch and later NBCSN. She also does her Climbing the Corporate Ladder segment. Highlights include the Laine/Dubois trade implications, the Capitals COVID protocol punishment, and Morgan's analysis now that the Stars are actually playing.
Rant and rave end the show. Please go to https://bethematch.org/support-the-cause/donate-bone-marrow/ if you are interested in joining the bone marrow registry.

Then Laura introduces Climbing the Corporate Ladder, a look around the NHL's four divisions. Morgan is particularly pleased with one development, as the title of the show suggests. Rant and rave end the show.
Laura and Morgan decided to be proactive this week, and the hockey gods punished them for it. They previewed the West and East divisions. But of course, all of this was as of Thursday. Since then: 1) the Stars season has been put on hold due to COVID-19 issues, 2) Mat Barzal signed a 3 year contract with the Islanders, 3) Corey Crawford retired, and we're sure there are other things we missed too. But there's still a lot of relevant details in this episode that will hopefully get you even more hyped for the NHL season to begin in mere days. We know we're excited to have live sports to cover on next week's episode!

Of course, they also discuss whether Gurianov will actually get to play this season. Rant and rave end the show.

On this shortened episode, Morgan reviews the trial of Eric Kay, the Los Angeles Angels employee who gave Tyler Skaggs the drugs that resulted in his death. It may be a shorter episode, but there are a lot of important details in this one.
Morgan and Laura have a bit of fun going through moments from the past year and season that they are thankful for. A lot of serious and fun moments are discussed. We'd love to hear what your thankful for. As always rant and rave end the show.
Morgan and Laura return for a new episode of the podcast. For hockey, they cover Bayne Pettinger coming out, the updates on the 2021 season, and the passing of friend of hockey Alex Trebek. But they spent most of their time ranting again on the reverse retro jerseys and the NHL's terrible unveiling of them. For the MLB, they have to start with crappy behavior: from Tony LaRussa being charged with DUI and then signed by the White Sox a day later to noted cheater Alex Cora getting hired and other noted cheater Jeff Luhnow suing the Astros over his termination there was a plethora of ranting to do. Things ended on a high note however when they discussed Steve Cohen officially owning the Mets and also being hilarious on Twitter and Kim Ng making history and shattering a glass ceiling by being named GM of the Marlins. Rant and rave conclude the show.
Laura and Morgan have a ranty episode, discussing the irresponsible actions during the World Series, hiring back cheaters, "renouncing" the draft rights of someone you shouldn't have drafted, and stigmatizing mental illness. Morgan and Laura go through all of the NHL free agency happenings, including all of the goalie movement. Then they discuss MLB headlines, recap the DS, and make predictions for the CS. Rant and rave ends the show.
Morgan and Laura recap the end of the Stanley Cup finals and the start of this abbreviated off season. Then they discuss some of the goings-on in the MLB and give their predictions for the "division series" round of the playoffs. A long rant and rave (which is where the title comes from) ends the show
Morgan and Laura discuss the Stars OT win, Pavelski and Perry's great performances, and the current state of the Stanley Cup Finals. Then, they talk (well mostly Laura yells) about the latest Penguins trade. Then they talk about the end of the baseball regular season and make their "wild card" round predictions. Rant and rave end the show.
Morgan and Laura cover the Stars big win and their series predictions (which are really more superstitions than anything) and some non-playoff hockey news. Then they cover the MLB: their complete ambivalence to Verlander's injury, the current playoff picture, and a reminder that everyone should be a Mariners fan.

They then talk about what happened at the MLB playoffs and their predictions for the Conference Finals in the NHL. Rant and Rave ends the show.
On this episode, Morgan and Laura discuss the strikes and various reactions the sports world had to the Jacob Blake shooting. Once again, the NHL had a pretty lame reaction to start, but the players stepped in and took a stronger stance. They discuss the MLB trade deadline and the Penguins trade. As always rant and rave end the show.
If you're wondering what the heck paintings have to do with that, never fear. We found a way to make multiple painting references in this episode. Listen to find out how we did that.
On episode 15, Morgan and Laura discuss how dumb it is that some baseball people are criticizing Fernando Tatis Jr's grand slam. They also discuss some bad behavior in hockey including agent Allan Walsh's tweet about his client Marc Andre Fleury and Mike Milbury's sexist comments (and general uselessness as a commentator). They preview the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, discuss the Capitals firing their coach, and the homophobic comment of a Cincinatti Reds announcer. Finally, they end with raves (there was enough ranting already).
Morgan and Laura recap the Stars series clinching game and discuss Denis Gurianov's brilliant performance. They also discuss how this adds to all of the evidence that Rick Bowness should play him more.
On this episode, Morgan and Laura quickly recap what was a relatively slow news week for the MLB. They discuss 2 Cleveland players getting voted off the team Survivor style. Then, they discuss the current state of affairs in round 1 of the NHL playoffs. Rant and rave ends the show.

They also discussed the kneeling that took place in the Dallas/Vegas game.

Morgan talks about the ongoing saga that is the MLB's "response" to the pandemic. Since then another team had positive cases and games were canceled meaning tonight 20% of the league has canceled games. Stayed tuned for what's next on the roller coaster of screw-ups.
It's a new week, and the MLB is still incompetent. With the coronavirus decimating the Marlins hit an enormous snag only days in. Morgan and Laura recap/vent about all the latest. They also discuss the Seattle Kraken and their uniform design. As always, rant and rave end it.
Morgan gives a quick update on the craziness that is the MLB and specifically the Toronto Blue Jays field situation.
Morgan and Laura talk about the goings-on in their favorite sports. They spend a lot of time talking about the current state of the MLB and as Morgan puts it "end up with more questions than answers". Laura then explains the NHL playoff format. Rant and rave conclude the episode with them both gushing over the latest royal wedding.
Be on the lookout for mini episodes (currently titled "Quick Hitters") where Morgan and/or Laura will release small episodes about the latest news.
On this episode Morgan asks Laura 5 questions about hockey and Laura asks Morgan 5 questions about baseball. The questions were a surprise so naturally a ton of tangents ensued. Rant and rave ended the show as always.

Laura gave you one player to love from each of the 31 NHL teams and Morgan gave you one player to love from each of the 30 MLB teams. As always, we finished the show with rant and rave. For some resources to educate yourself or donate to in light of George Floyd's death we've spotlighted a lot on our Instagram. #BlackLivesMatter
Akim Aliu had a great article this week in The Players’ Tribune titled Hockey Is Not For Everyone. Morgan and Laura dove into all of the profound points in the article as well as the broader topic of inclusivity in sports, why it matters, and some of the shortcomings they’ve seen. This is such a large and important topic so this will definitely be talked about again in the future.
It's Laura's turn to deep dive a topic this week. She explains all the ins and outs of the NHL salary cap. From how to evaluate contracts to how cap hits are calculated to restricted and unrestricted free agency there's a lot of ground covered. So much ground that she almost forgot about rant and rave but Morgan saved the day! See y'all next week and let us know if you have any questions or ideas.
This is a sports podcast, we swear. Laura and Morgan answer a sports related survey and provide a lot of info about their fandom (in addition to some random stories).
