God created the Light and acknowledged that it was good. However, instead of eliminating darkness completely, He simply created Light to alternate with it. Darkness has come to stay, but by staying in and with the Light, you are safe from darkness.
While you're busy seeing ordinary dust, God is seeing (right in the same dust) the man that will soon exercise dominion over the earth He created.
In this episode of the Small Still Voice (SSV), the Lord is saying that no matter what you think you've lost, you'll gain it all back. Nothing shall be lost! (2 Kings 8:1-6)
