Bruce Lee has become one of my favorite characters in history, perhaps the greatest martial artist that has ever lived. He was also a great teacher. Bruce Lee was a student of Napoleon Hill and he used the "Definite Chief Aim" idea to accomplish a lot of his goals. Perhaps my favorite Bruce Lee quote is "never fear the man that has practiced 10,000 different kicks one time, you should fear the man that practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Of the 147 Delphic Maxims only three were inscribed on a column in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi: Know Thyself - Nothing in Excess & Surety Brings Ruin. (In ancient Greece - Delphi was the sanctuary and home to the famous oracle of Apollo which gave cryptic predictions and guidance to both city-states and individuals) Today I focus on the first one - Know Thyself - This is a shortened version of Plato's Allegory of the Cave. I imagine there are some errors in the allegory because I am taking some creative liberties with telling it. I believe the point of the Allegory is essentially - When you get feedback that you can’t do something, just remember, that feedback you get is not a reflection of your potential as you as a person. It’s only a reflection of your current mental conditioning.

When you think of excellence -  do you think of perfection? I used to think they were about the same thing. Excellence requires commitment. It requires you have a solid idea of where you are wanting to go. It also requires and honest discussion with yourself about what things are holding you back. It is requires keen self awareness and maybe admitting we we may be stuck in a world of things that are not real. Breaking out of that world requires mental and psychological adjustments and learn to regard the adversities, circumstances, and conditions in your life . . . and perhaps a teaser discussion about Plato.

Staying in our comfort zone is merely settling for the person we are today. Unfortunately without continued growth,  the comfort zone lulls you into a the lie that everything is ok. Beware of your comfort zone. The danger of a comfort zone is that it isn't painful, and it might even feel good. Being in a comfort zone is often interpreted to mean it is a good place to be. I believe that a comfort zone is precisely the thing that holds people back from real growth, real accomplishment and what could be a potentially exciting and rewarding future.

I imagine many people like myself have begun a number of projects in the past only to fall short for whatever reason. When we were born into this world, everyone of us . . .(wherever you are from in the world) was willing to fearlessly DO or try ANYTHING . . . As we grew we were told the many things we couldn't do, and in most cases we believed what we were taught. The main psychological reason that causes us NOT to get what we want in life is because of the unique family and social situation we were born into. Before we adopted our cultural, sociological and religious beliefs, we . . . (as we grew and learned) adopted many limitations by the environment we were raised in.

For the next month I will attempt to create the new habit of starting a new company from scratch. It will be overwhelming. There will be challenges and set-backs. I will push forward as best I know how. The purpose of this podcast is to document my very best attempt to become the best version of myself, and in turn I hope to inspire a few others along the way.
