Scott and I are back talking about where people often get lost in their workout programs. They begin by focusing so much on a structured program that is can be overwhelming when things have to get changed up a bit. But it’s not all about the details like the reps or the sets. It’s about having a gym plan for life.
Biggest Takeaways
It’s all about the rocks versus the pebbles! Don’t get too lost in the details of a workout program like how long to rest between sets and/or order of exercises. Move the big movements forward as part of an overall plan that has a goal. The little things are just that - little stuff that doesn’t truly have an impact on your fitness.
In order to be truly successful with fitness you need to focus on moving the big pieces forward. And you need to adapt because life requires this of us! You can’t throw in the towel when things get thrown off. You can’t skip a workout if you only have 20 minutes or the gym is closing. Don’t worry so much if you are doing 12 reps in a set or 15. These are very small things that can often confuse people or frustrate them about training. You just always want to getting better every day.
