Pastor Derek closed out our "Ready for Revival" sermon series by talking about the importance of faith. He challenged us to pray that God would help the areas of unbelief in our lives, and that revival only happens when we have enough faith in God to do it in our time.

In week four of our Ready for Revival series, Pastor Derek talks about the importance of being set apart. He explained that if we want to be used by God in a special way, we have to live in a way that is aligned with the teachings of Jesus. In order to be ready for revival, we have to pursue a life of consecration.

Pastor Victor continued our sermon series on revival by talking about how God is in the business of restoring broken things. He encouraged us that no matter what we have done, God's saving grace and restoration can make us a new creation that he can use for his glory.

He encouraged us that if we want to see revival on our campus, we have to be hungry for his presence, and persistent in prayer. In our last service of the semester, Pastor Derek talked about how we can share the light of Jesus to others. He explained how we can't show others the light, however, until we clear out the things in our heart that blocks it. If we can make a path in our hearts and pursue holiness, God will make the light shine through.

She explained the importance of Jesus coming in the flesh, and how his ultimate sacrifice on earth means never-ending grace for us.

He walked us through how the Disciples in Acts received this baptism and how it was necessary for them to obtain the power of God in order to start the early church. Pastor Victor started us off by walking us through what it looks like to know God. He talked about how Moses climbed Mount Sinai to be with God, and likewise, he challenged us to ascend the mountain daily and be with Jesus.

In this message he emphasized that God knows the best way to live in this universe, which is following His commands for our life. This allows us to live in His freedom.

We got to spend time before the sermon to celebrate our 19 students that are graduating, most of them moving into the workplace mission field. The rest of our students are coming back next with a vision to make disciples who make disciples who live a life of real devotion, real community, and real responsibility.

We looked at the life of King David and how even though he made critical mistakes, he got to experience God's grace. We started off by looking at Joshua's life and how he consecrated himself for the Lord. Remaining reliant and obedient to the Lord, Joshua saw victory over Jericho.

This Tuesday, Pastor Katie finished up our sermon series over prayer with a timeless message over intercessory prayer. She spoke over Moses interceding for the Israelites in Exodus 32, and we learned that we engage in intercessory prayer because we want to see God move in the lives around us. Our prayer is that we wouldn't sit around worrying about things instead of praying for them.

This Tuesday, Pastor Derek taught us how to pray like Jesus through dissecting the Lord's Prayer and applying the P.R.A.Y. acronym to it. The main idea for this sermon was praying like Jesus means connecting to our Father. This looks like pausing and silencing our thoughts, rejoicing in what the Lord is doing in your life, asking him for your needs and the needs of others, and yielding to his will over your life.

This Tuesday, Pastor Derek started a new sermon series titled Pray Like This, with the first sermon teaching us how to pray like children. We went through Mark 10 to see how Jesus responds to children and then looked at how children act today. They’re honest, they ask, and they’re talkative and we applied these to our prayer lives to grow in praying like children.

We looked at the first marriage relationship in Genesis 2 with Adam and Eve, and we talked about the four purposes of marriage taken from John Mark Comer's book Loveology; Friendship, Gardening, Sex, and Family.

This week, Pastor Derek took us through Judges 14 where it tells the story of Samson and the lion. We learned that we need to run away from "the cliff of sex" and run towards Jesus. Pastor Derek taught us that we must trust the creator of sex over the creation that is sex.

If the God of the universe humbled himself to be born a human in a stinky manger, then we can become people who are gentle and lowly at heart, humbling ourself and letting God do the exalting.

He explains why spiritual gifts are lacking in the western church, what the apostle Paul says about them, and what they're intended for.

This week at UNI's Chi Alpha, Pastor Derek shed some light on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:4-8 tells us to "wait for the gift my Father promised", which is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and that we will "receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us".
