First up is phrenology - the pseudoscience that claimed bumps and indentations on the skull could reveal personality traits, intelligence, and more. While phrenology was popular in the 19th century, it has been thoroughly discredited as having no scientific merit. We discuss the history of phrenology, some of its failed predictions, and why it ultimately didn't hold up to scientific scrutiny.
Next we look at tyromancy - the practice of divining the future by observing cheese as it curds and coagulates. Though it was practiced in medieval Europe, this form of divination is not supported by modern science. We talk about some of the strange rituals involved and why this cheese-based fortune telling didn't last.
Finally, we explore the pseudoscience of graphology - analyzing handwriting to assess personality. Though still practiced today, most studies have found it is no better than chance at predicting things like intelligence or aptitude. To say he is just my dog is to do him the biggest disservice one could do to another person. In honour of my brother from another species mother, Cookie, as it is his 17th Birthday tomorrow, we are going to look at the power that dogs hold from the observation of non-verbal communication. As there is so much we can look at we will turn this into kind of a mini series of sorts.
We also have an unboxing of puzzle practice to get to and believe me it is huge and well, it is going to take quite a bit to devour and develop!

I was recently sent a document by one of my colleagues that used to work for the C.I.A because he thought it would be up my street. In this document I saw a manual that I had assumed years ago was something that just a gimmicked name for a book in order for it to be sold. I was wrong.
This booklet is based on the work of a magician that was paid $3000 during the cold war to detail methods of sleight of hand and magic to help ferry spies out of active zones, secret tablets into cups to subjugate would-be assassins, poisoned pens, the full James Bond works.

A friend of Mr.Depp for close to 42 years giving his count of the events that transpired in 2016. Looking at the breakdown of what can be confirmed from both of the sides of the table at this stage to try and gain an understanding of how things are going to go given all of the evidence that is unfurling. Less about your position as a fan of either one and more about the details that are being revealed and the behavioural responses to them.

In this episode we are talking about substances and their effect on our ability to do what it is we do, deduce, think, rationalise, explore and do all things inherently intuitive! How far are the effects of drinking or smoking weed going to hinder what it is that you do with this and what other infamous geniuses have used these in the past? Holmes had his 7% solution, interesting that it was not any higher. Not an 8% or 14% but a 7% solution and infrequently to boot. Pleasantries can be just as addictive as that which is not good for you so lets understand the balancing act of indulgence and keep the work in first place :)

Ryan has been a good friend of mine for many years and I know him to be the single most genuine guy on the planet. Not only is he as skilled as he is knowledgeable but he won't actually say this himself, so I will! He is a man that very often exists as a sponge of sorts, viewing and observing all of the information that is going on in this industry and informs others accordingly.
What he does have, is an enriched understanding of the properties that mentalism holds for those who have an interest in people reading and all related prospects in that we all need an outlet. A thing to help us relax, and yet we can use this to sharpen our skills accordingly.
What I love the most about this episode is the fun we had. Not that we don't on every episode but Ryan has an infectious personality that is a joy to be around and we know that you will all feel the same.

So for a little while I have had a study group as part of my degree course and within it, we pose some mysteries and attempts and being as tricky as we can. One thing that we struggle with each and every time, is poisons. The numbers in terms of convictions would also agree with the observations. Given their presentations and the possibility for medical confusion it makes spotting them much more of a challenge. Talking everything from home brewed remedies, to Harold shipman and spotting what you need to in order to make sure you are considering the fullest implications of that which is observable!

in a bid to try and put our money where our mouths are we set upon some rather fanciful problems to see how far our reasoning skills could try and come to a conclusion about the out come may have been reached. Everything from magic to fish and then of course, possession by demons! Naturally, right?

Body language breakdown! Now in terms of my schedule, this is a little out of sorts as this is technically a podcast episode! But, this is the follow on from the first part that ran last week! There are a select that are familiar with the work of Michael Murray and those that are, are richer for the experience! During this podcast Michael shares his thoughts on how he tackles problems, puzzles and lateral thinking and the applications of these towards how we tackle things of a more deductive nature! Even down to the way that he set about tackling the simple issue of the lottery, and you know what? He solved it! We talk about what to do during times of struggle and how to change your mindset accordingly so that it strengthens what you do and doesn't harm what you do. Michael was even so generous as to share his 13 steps to creativity! All of which he applies to tackle things that people think are impossible. Now as many of you may or may not know, at the time this was recorded I have Covid. This sickness is no joke let me tell you! This was what formulated the basis for our podcast episode. Me and Adam breakdown the motivations for the behaviours seen and can be confirmed.
